Great facility, loved the location, management and security points. We were dreading using a storage facility as our previous interactions with other facilities were not the best, however this company is terrific! I can't think of one negative thing. We were graciously given a comprehensive tour of the security measures and of the space we were considering. This was the first stop of what we thought was going to be a long day of going through self storage facilities. This place was so impressive we didn't even look elsewhere, we signed. Another HUGE bonus was being able to use their box truck for move in at no charge, just replenish gas. Saved us 8 or 9 trips and a whole bunch of time. The van even has furniture moving blankets. I chose this storage facility for its location as well as the positive reviews on Yelp (I work close by so it was easy for me to move items and then head into the office). Anthony, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. The area is secure and easy to enter and exit (and thankfully they had a drive-up unit available, which is what I needed). I also very much appreciated being able to rent their box truck for my move, for free ($500 deposit, refunded when I returned the truck full of gas and free of damage). That saved me a LOT of time and money, especially since I could pick up and return the truck at the facility itself. Putting your stuff in storage isn't ideal or easy, but this place really takes a lot of the stress out. Highly recommended. I'm hoping not to rent the unit long-term, but if I need to, I know my stuff is secure in this location. read more

This was my first time renting a storage unit and I wanted to find the best place. After reading most reviews I almost changed my mind but then I found Bay Area Self Storage which had amazing reviews and was near by. After talking with Maggie at the front office and seeing how safe and secure the units are I felt completely comfortable putting my things in storage. Every unit has a security alarm and there are cameras everywhere so I feel safe and I don't worry about my things. It is also a very nice and clean facility. I was surprised that for such a wonderful place that the prices are very similar to other places that don't even compare to Bay Area Self Storage. Very highly recommended! read more

I visited several other local storage places before choosing Bay Area Self Storage on Bernal. This place rocks them all! The couple managing the place are friendly, helpful, and live on site. The place is immaculate, quiet, and there are individual alarms for each unit as well as cameras everywhere. As a woman, I appreciate that there are no dark hidden cooridors and no "tenants" using the storage area as a construction hut as I saw at another local storage place. When my special one-year rate was up, they offered another discount without even being asked. Not quite as good as the move-in rate, but still a great deal. Then, they followed up with me to make sure I accepted it before it expired. I've always been greeted by name even though I only come rarely, and they have never seemed overly nosey or rude. Before selecting a storage place, be sure to ask when they last had a reported break-in, and ask how long the employees have worked there. A great quote from a competitor that I did NOT go with: "I have only heard of one break-in, and I've been here for two whole months!" Um, no thanks. The only thing I was wary of was that I had read reviews on yelp of Bay Area Self Storage that had warned that their truck wasn't really available for free as advertised. I didn't have any problems being able to use the truck, I just needed to reserve it for the date/time I needed to use it. Simple and reasonable, and made move-in a breeze. read more

Margaret was AWESOME!!! I actually made the mistake of thinking she was the owner because she was so courteous and seemed to really care. She, of course, corrected me very quickly and told me that she was not and they the owners had multiple locations. All I can say is that if the actual owners continue to employ more people like Margaret, then it is likely that they will eventually own even more facilities. Good people are hard to find but Margaret is one of them. The facility itself is clean, well laid out and they even offer free bottles of cold water when the office is open. That is a life saver when you are digging around in your unit on a hot day! Highly recommended! read more

I wanted to mention that they are right off the freeway so although they are 8 miles from my home office it's more convenient than other storage facilities which aren't so freeway accessible. OMG, this place is awesome! The family home had to be closed down due to my parent's death and the house went up for sale. I called around ALL over the place, we inspected nearby and faraway places and NONE impressed us more than Bay Area Self-Storage. It's close to the folk's home making it easy to get help moving in from friends and locals. Professional, friendly, clean, super clean, security system well in place, no historical incidences, yes it cost a bit more than what I could get elsewhere but honestly why wouldn't you entrust things with someone you absolutely 100% trust?
