This place has changed from Smash city to BBC recently. I have to say that it is a lot better than Smash city. The floor is really knee friendly. The floor is the same floor that they use in BBC in Burlingame. The lighthing is also better than it was at Smash City. They also have a computer system that will allow you to get on the court so that everyone will get a chance to play. All you have to do is sign up on a court through the computer. The longest you will have to wait will be about 20 minutes. The entry fee to play is $8. But you can at least get 4 to 5 games. Parking is also not bad at all. However, finding this place can be a little tricky. The plaza itself is not hard to find but once you hit the plaza keep going inside the Montague court in Fleming Bussiness Park and you will see it. It is what it is, a warehouse filled with badminton courts. I've been coming here ever since it was called Smash City. They have a new system where you sign up for courts via computer. Tip: Make sure everyone playing on your court signs up or people will legally "steal" your court! It does get pretty stuffy and hot in here but whats a good workout without some sweat on your brow? They have water fountains by the bathrooms as well as vending machines by the doorway so you can stay properly hydrated(much needed). Excellent workout! 1 hour and I felt like I shed 10 lbs. Drop in rates are $8. $5 to rent a racket $10 racket... Bring your own birdies or buy from the counter. Since I didn't want to pay the $5 racket rental everytime, I purchased my own racket. They have rackets there for $30 and up. They have a queue system on the computer so you don't have to deal with arguments of other people hogging the courts. This place is a little out of the way, ALL the way in the back. When you enter the block, head straigh down and turn right at the sign. Follow the curve road to the end. There are no signs outside, but it's the building on your right. This review is for the training classes held at Bay Badminton Center. Coach Chandra at one point was one of the top men's doubles players in the world and he still continues to regularly win competitions in the US now. I have been taking adult group classes with him and his team (all former national players) for over two years, and have improved my game a lot. The classes focus on movement, tactics, doubles teamwork, shot placement and many other areas that I am not able to learn elsewhere. I definitely have gained a much better appreciation for the game because of the classes at BBC, and now enjoy playing badminton a lot more than before because I'm not just blindly hitting the shuttle over the net, but thinking at a much higher level about the game as I play. read more

I come here mostly MWF with my lovely group and we can spend all night playing here... The staff is pretty friendly... The only thing i hate...seriously.. is their woman's bathroom stall.. Seriously.. change the lock!!! I got locked in once in that handicapped (bigger) stall.... The price is pretty OK..$8.00 for a drop in...unlimited use of the courts.... They also offer rental rackets for $5.00 Oh.. per my mom..who came here to play.. she didn't like the flooring.. She says it's not the pro-court type of flooring... (My mom's a Pro).... Went here through a Groupon offer. This place is a little hard to find as it is in an industrial park all the way in the back too the right. Lots of car parking spaces. It is a converted garage, high ceilings, 13 badminton courts no A/C. The standard pricing is $8 for adults, its like theme park pricing, you pay on entry, whereby if you leave, you cannot come back in. Students 5-17 are $5, so technically you could pay in the morning and stay as long as you book the courts using their computer system. Each booking of four names nets you about 30mins then you have to go rebook. Front office staff are friendly and laid back.The groupon nets you12 free shuttle cocks that you can take home and racket rental. Otherwise they charge $10 for racket rental. They do have washroom facilities and a water fountain along with Gatorade vending machines. Tips: Bring water or something to drink as it does get hot and stuffy. They do not open any of the large garage doors to vent it out or have A/C. So on really hot days don't bother going. It did not get stinky even with all the people playing which was surprising and pleasant. Prepare to sweat, bring a towel or some wet wipes I'm sure mornings are busier than afternoons, but it works if everyone co-operates and uses the computer and books a court. The had some children come in for some training where they run laps around the court, then do monster walks and other weird stretching exercises, it was very distracting when you are trying to play. Prices are reasonable, if you want to play for an hour or two. Its jut stuffy and not very well lit, its OK but not great. They have 13 courts in this place and it can get either super hot or super cold in this place. They use garage doors to regulate the temperature. The courts are spaced out decently but the court surface is not springy as other places. Usually this place is not as overcrowded as other badminton places (bin tang) and the people who work here are extremely nice and courteous. Also it has a very nice computer queue system to allow equal playing time on a court. Ill be real. I use to play badminton in highschool. Im a fat chinese kid and its in my chinese DNA to play badminton. So im not the most physical specimen on the badminton court. Thats why I like the queue system instead of other places who have a challenge system only. Gets me alil more playing time and I dont have to play with people who take badminton WAY TOO SERIOUSLY and are smash happy. read more

Badminton brings out the asian in me. Hiya! My friend invited to me join her at this center to play badminton. I haven't played badminton since high school (+10 years), so I was a bit intimidated by all the people playing here. I am not sure if they rent out racquets or birdies, since my friend lent us his equipment to use. This place can be a bit hard to find. I followed my gps to the back of a large business plaza and didn't know where to go from there. Good thing I saw an asian person drive past me. They're asian, they must be going to play badminton, must follow. Pros: 1) You pay for a whole day - If you go early, you can pay $8 and play the whole day. 2) Many courts inside the gym 3) Projected court wait times so you can see how much time you have left to play or until you play. Cons: 1) Courts were not spaced far enough apart. There were many times a birdie would fly into our court and vice versa, so we would have to pause the game while the other team retrieved their birdie or we retrieved ours. 2) Reserving a court is a REALLY confusing process. If not for my friend, I would not have known that you need to log into a computer system (kept somewhere inside the gym) and sign-up for a court. 3) You pay for a whole day, but if you show up in the evening, you may find yourself waiting around for a court to open up. read more

I love this gym. Every Tuesday night, my friends and I play badminton at this gym. It costs $7. There is an abundance of courts. You can sign up for a court through the computer system, and if it is full, you can be waitlisted. My friends and I try to all share 1 or 2 courts. They have clean bathrooms and several changing rooms. They also have vending machines for food, and sell badminton racquets and equipment. They can also re-string your rackets for a decent price. They also have a challenge court at the very end. Front desk is great, especially Denise, who is no longer there. Boo! read more

Like most badminton venues, Bay Badminton Center is in an awkward warehouse park. You have to cross an expansive lot that's labeled, "CAUTION TRUCK TRAFFIC." We're talking lengthy cargo trucks and a truck did start backing up suddenly. My friend and I felt like we were trekking through Charybdis' sea. Anyway, after you safely get to the place, it's $5 on weekdays for drop-ins if you go before 4 p.m. My friend and I went around 10 a.m. on a Tuesday and the place was EMPTY. They had to turn on some lights for us haha. More players trickled in around noon, but most players kept to themselves and didn't challenge much. On the weekends, drop-in fee is $8 and it's much more crowded. Crowded isn't necessarily a bad thing since it gives you opportunity to play a competitive round or two. They have a nifty computer system that allows you to self regulate court time to ensure you get to play and force court hoggers to share. They only use this system when it's crowded. read more

Worst experiences I had with stringing rackets. I got my racket strung at this place for $30 and a day later it snapped. First, 3 friends took a look and said it was due to poor stringing and not a mis hit. Second, I took it to the stringer at California Badminton Academy and they mentioned that it was due to careless stringing. I took the racket with the strings back to BBC and they would not budge and tried to charge me $30 again. Strings are not suppose to pop after 1 day of play. The gym floor is also very slippery and it's crazy hot in the gym. I'd recommend going to either CBA or Bingtang Milpitas. read more

First of all, Good thing for this location is they usually open for whole day so you do not need to pick the time to go, such as lunch time or evening time ? Actually, the nearby another badminton gym opens lunch and evening time only. And they usually have some good discount deals or package deals on Groupon, ,etc, you can use this gym for much cheaper price if you check first before go there. And lastly, staffs at front desk are kind, nice and helpful. However, regarding facilities, there are many things that can be improved. When asked why, there is no offer to follow up management but more with a "that's just the way it is" attitude. It was our first time there and I brought 8 people and paid $88 to play. The reception person started things on the right track and opened a court for us since all the other courts were reserved by the BBC training. Latter in the day they started closing all the courts for BBC training again and only left a single court for the public to play. But to my surprise the BBC trainers kicked us off even thou the 8 off us were signed up for the only open court. I went to the reception to complain, but she justified it by saying the training group has the right to use all the courts???? What!!!! I paid $88 for my group to play here and you are kicking out prematurely? I asked to speak to a manager to complain, but there was none, but then she finally realized she needed to ask to trainer what was going on since her computer was saying that court 6/7/8 was free but it was clear that the BBC training took that over too. Bottom line, I walked in, paid the company to use the court, if they cannot accommodate it then give me my money back and refuse service to me. I write a really bad review on yelp and file a BEtter Business complaint and call it a day. Luckily they talked to the couch and let us stay on the court we had reserved, on their computer, in which we should have never been kicked off of. Friendly advice, if you want to retain reoccurring walk-in players don't make them seem like second hand people to the BBC training class. If you want us to come back, better give us 8 free passes and make sure this issue doesn't occur again...otherwise me and all my badminton friends will frequent another establishment. read more

They recently increased prices. Monthly rate is now $59. Staffs are ok. They give discounts to members if you buy any badminton gear. Too many reserved courts on peak hours. I haven't encountered douchebag players. They usually go if you tell them it's your turn to play or they would ask a little more time to end the game. Needs ventilation. This is a decent place to play badminton. The courts are nice and they have a good computerized system for letting people know which courts are open or how much time is left before a court will be open. I would give this place 4 stars, but I found the room temperature a little hot. Walking in the building, without playing, I already knew it would get hot quickly. I started sweating during warmups. My friends also said it was quite stuffy. If they fix the air conditioning, this place would be awesome. UPDATE: Other Yelp reviews have said there is no air conditioning at this place. Haters complain about floor, air conditioning, refunds from an annual membership which was non-refundable, long queues, not enough courts...etc. This is a badminton sports club right? where people you know ......exercise by playing competitive badminton. Do you complain that 24 hours fitness don't have enough weight machines? Lets not forget there are people who pay $200 / month to go to a yoga class that is held in an extra hot room? ha ha. For people who expect premiere quality while paying as little as they can pay (proally squeeze a nickel outta a penny) this is not for you. Badminton is a booming and expensive sport. You pay for the racquet, the shuttles, the courts if you don't want to share or wait. If you know how to play well, you'll enjoy the place. I've been about once a week during the last three weeks and there is a decent sized crowd each time. It's amazing how many people frequent this place and how the gym is consistently full even during weeknights. Generally, we haven't had issues reserving courts and playing for an hour or more before getting kicked off the court. If you are a first timer, they have a system where you sign in with your username and pin on their computer to reserve courts for half an hour. If you are playing with other people, you can stagger and have them reserve the same court so you can play for longer than an hour. The price to play per session is $10 but they have promotions like their 10 session pass for cheaper and also their unlimited monthly/annual passes. Overall, I would recommend. Courts are clean and haven't had issues with courts getting too crowded. read more

I was a member of BBC for more than a year. At one point I injured my wrist and had to stop playing. As I tried to cancel my membership, the manager (Jason Liu) refused to return my money. He would not return any of my emails or voicemails. I had to go through my credit card company to get his attention. Other than the $150 cancellation fee that he charged me, he charged me an extra $30 for a one month cancellation notice. This after I had my membership on hold for more than a year, and worked 2+ months to get my money back. Seriously!! As for the club, the courts were always busy, and half of them were reserved for lessons etc., so extremely hard to get a court in the evening or over the weekend. Avoid this place, or use the pay as you go guest membership to avoid losing $300 as I did. read more

I went in for the first time using a GroupOn. That included badminton rackets, and 3 shuttles (which we get to keep even after playing - if they are not spoilt that's great). The quality of the shuttles they provide are not that great, it's plastic and i would suggest taking your own shuttles that are of good quality when you go in. Groupon rates fluctuate between 16$-20$ for 2 people on and off with discounts and otherwise. I went in during 2-4 pm on a Sunday, and I think that was non-peak time, I saw a couple of empty courts and could easily get playing. Didn't see people coming in waiting for courts either. I will be visiting again during a week day this week, hopefully this holds good. Best times to play in this court are during mornings or late evenings - even if there is a rush, the heat within the building wont' turn you down during the summers. This should get better in the winters though! It was steaming hot and I couldn't play as long as I wanted to due to the heat. P.S. They could keep the bathrooms cleaner but then it's not too dirty either. Just looks like it's never been renovated/cleaned - looks super old. read more

I have played here for several years and it used to be a good place. Recently, it has become a waste of money. First, it is extremely hard to get a court for 4 players. They have reserved majority of the courts for training. To make things worse, they now allow a single person to sign into a court making it unavailable for a group of 4. If you do manage to get it after a long wait, it is only for 25 minutes. Most facilities allow 45 minutes and even this facility used to have 30 minutes. In addition, you need to deal with kids running through the corners of the court as part of their training. On top of all this, the front desk person is extremely rude, acting like he is doing us a favor by letting us pay and use the facility. Thumbs down. read more
