We stayed in Marley's Cottage and it was incredible. The red door entrance from our parking space felt like stepping into a secret hideaway. Inside we had a fireplace, a tub on the screened back patio, and a porch swing where we enjoyed our morning coffee. It was private, quiet, and felt like our own little world. Breakfast in the Manor House was outstanding with fresh eggs from their own chickens, and the daily afternoon tea became one of our favorite parts of the day. We met other guests, enjoyed fresh pastries, and had great conversations with the owners, Dave and Hilari. They are warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about both hospitality and preserving the history of this place. Talking with them about Brampton's story and their vision was a highlight of our stay. Definitely try their Steampot dinner! It's loaded with fresh local seafood and felt like a true taste of the Eastern Shore. The property itself is beautiful to walk with gardens, meadows, and wildlife everywhere. We were trying to solidify the plan in April/May for a mid-October elopement along with a several night stay in one of the cottages. What we received was lazy communication and terrible customer service. Nina is the employee to steer clear of. She alibied her piss poor responsiveness by saying the Eastern Shore culture just moved at a very slow pace. It took three attempts to receive an error-free contract. We had questions about the photographer that went unanswered for weeks. After nearly a month of trying to lock in our dates and address some of the finer details we received an email from Nina suggesting that we seek out another photographer or another venue altogether if they weren't moving fast enough for us. We did just that, refusing to beg anyone to take our money. Then today, three months later, we received an email from Nina asking us if we'd like to proceed. I responded to her email telling her we made other arrangements and that I'd be leaving feedback online about our experience with her. Attention David and Hillary Rinehart (owners), Nina is poorly representing your establishment and costing you money and your reputation.

We were the only ones staying there for one night, which is too bad - this place is in a good location to easily advertise itself a local b&b, though it'll involve a little more work. A truly beautiful manor, awesome hunting decor, spacious rooms, and comfy living room with a bar and snacks. We had breakfast there (continental - just packaged pastries and cereals, could definitely do with some fruit and/or yogurt so it's not all starch and sugar), lunch and dinner (provided by a caterer - comfort food a la fried chicken and bbq, very tasty but the caterer was not on time). The family who owns the complex is very kind and does a fantastic job helping you set up a stay there, and it may benefit them to have someone live at the manor (like at a b&b) so there's a 24/7 staff person. We at one point were in the house all by ourselves which was kind of creepy, especially with all the guns in the clubhouse near us! More on point, we couldn't get a hold of the caterer when he was late and weren't sure if our pre-paid dinner plans were going to end up in the closest pizza place. These are definitely services they could do in-house and it would help boost their business and open it up to a larger audience, not just people coming to shoot. I would definitely stay there just as a b&b, but only with a better breakfast and the kind of staffing you'd expect in an inn or b&b. A great place for a weekend stay from the Baltimore/DC Metropolitan areas, especially if you're interested in the different activities they have there.

Located on Kent Island overlooking the Chesapeake, this is the perfect getaway. It took us about an hour to drive there from downtown (with no traffic) and was easy to find on a lightly traveled road a few miles from the main highway. The house is massive, but there are only two rooms available for guests. We recommend the Osprey room, which overlooks the bay. In the morning, you wake to a glorious sunrise on the bay. This is soon followed by breakfast carefully prepared by Maria and Ed Peffly, the owners. Each morning we had fresh fruit, and coffee followed by a main breakfast. One morning it was a salmon frittata the next is was blueberry and banana pancakes. The only down side of breakfast was having to muster uncomfortable conversation with the other couple there who were on a romantic getaway. But that is par for the course at a B+B. During the day we walked around in the nearby Terrapin State Park and explored the island. We were there in March, and the usual Kent island riff raff were not to be found. In the evenings we sat under the stars in the hot tub and let the stress slough away. We basically had the run of the house, and although there was one other couple there, we never saw them except at breakfast. The grounds were amazing and at night a herd (15 or so) deer can be seen munching away on the grass. There was a pool, but it wasn't open when we were there. They have a gym and game room that we used once (Who goes to a B&B to use the gym?) What else can I say, for $160 a night (in the off season, you get a wonderful room overlooking the bay, a great breakfast and seclusion from the real world. If I was to conjure criticisms, I would say that the rooms had a bit too much potpourri for our taste and that some of the decor was on the Laura Ashley side, but that is really being picky. This is a real gem. NOTE: I was reluctant to post this review for one simple reason--people will go to and love this place and we'll never be able to book a room again. But we liked the owners so much that we figured that keeping it a secret wouldn't be fair. Let me be frank. By people I mean you loathsome SUV driving butt cracks that make it necessary for rational people to escape DC. Please go to Disney.

Small architectural flourishes lend to the owners strong eye for aesthetic. A giant white tent 50 yards from the ceremony is where your guests will be partying, and a large stone patio with high bar tables around a small pool is where your guests will enjoy their cocktail hour. A separate small building off to the side houses fully plumbed in bathrooms with granite countertops make this luxurious experience continue in all facets and faucets! Hahahahhahaha - I'm such a dork. The perfect location for a wedding in every way. I mean... when this bed and breakfast was built, the intention was for it to also being a wedding venue. My stay here was a pleasant change of pace. Warren gave me a warm greeting and noted my meal preferences. After giving me a brief download of the local area I was shown to my room. The rooms are comfortable and each has a resident beta fish. I found the bed comfortable and the bathroom nicely appointed. The breakfast here is great Warren puts great care into everyone's preferences whether vegetarian, vegan, or you just don't like bananas or melons like me. I have to give Inn at 2920 a ringing endorsement, and would recommend this Inn to anyone staying in Baltimore. Their rates are also very reasonable, and a comparable bargain when you factor in breakfast.

I'm an insomniac and I can never sleep in hotels, but this feels like a home away from home and I'm able to get more rest here. We stayed in The Law Library. The view from the room was fun--we could look out our window and see people walking around the town. You can't beat the location--you can walk everywhere. The architecture was so cool. The house had lots of acute and obtuse angles to fit on the lot between the city streets. The living room was so cozy. I wish my own living room could be so welcoming. We especially loved getting to know Maggie the dog, sweetie extraordinaire. The couple that runs the property are nice and down to earth. They have coffee out in the morning and the woman cooks a full gourmet Breakfast where you get a chance to meet the other travelers! You also have access to Tea/cookies and snacks throughout your stay. It really felt like home while we were there. Parking garages are nearby and they can hook you up with a half off discount code.
