I'm sorta new to the area and never heard of this restaurant before. I was w/2 good friends (a couple) from my church. It was a Sunday around 1pm. The place was very crowded, but we got a nice table in a "far corner" where we had some space in a quiet area. The large array of foods on the menu was amazing, imho. Our waitress was lovely: friendly, patient, helpful. Her service was quick, but calm & our environment was relaxing, which was really nice. The food was elegantly served and attractively plated; The other lady & I chose the same item: a (3 choice) platter of (all fried) flounder, small shrimp, and oysters served w/round slim donut shaped hush puppies & Cole slaw. Her husband chose a hearty large shrimp salad (boiled shrimp), fresh veges & greens. Yum! We all agreed that our meals were really delicious. Our beverages (sweet tea and diet colas) were just right. It's a busy restaurant it's decorated nicely and the server was really sweet. it seems like a more elderly clientele very quiet and nice.0The restaurant feels very cozy and comfortable..Our salads came out very quickly. I ordered the fried platter combination of three oysters, sea scallops, and deviled crab. They also give you onion rings. My husband ordered the clam strips. We also got a baked potato. The devil crab flavor is good, but I can't taste any crab in it. The scallops were cooked a little too long and not in a flavor in those or in the clam strips. I wish they would've seasoned that a little bit better. The oysters came out very good. I paid $27 and I got six oysters, six scallops and one deviled crab, four onion rings and one baked potato, and the salad on the side I had to pay an extra two dollars for the salad. I would probably come back here and just order the oysters just because I like the atmosphere and I thought the oysters were good, but only if I was in the area. I rated it at three because of the flavoring in the seafood, but the service and the restaurant itself is a five. I have to make a correction those aren't onion rings there hush puppies shaped like onion rings lol but they taste pretty good. read more

For a long while I avoided this restaurant, the reason... everything tasted the same. Fish, shrimp and hush puppies tasted exactly the same. A few weeks back we tried again, and were pleasantly surprised to find that things had markedly improved. I ordered a large boiled shrimp plate and the seafood portions were small and the food was cold. If cold French fries are your thing this is your place. The slaw is served in condiment containers but the fries were mounded on my plate. The service was friendly and responsive. A fish sandwich from McDonald's would have been a better choice. read more

Dinner was calling and ended up at Bay Breeze to get our fill up. I'm not into seafood and there are other things on the menu you can get if it's not your choosing. We started out with hush puppies and brought a bunch of them to split with butter and sour cream for dippings. The grilled chicken breast sandwich with a baked potato was a solid choice. Everything was cooked nicely and I enjoyed it. It was reasonably priced as well. Our waitress was sweet and she checked on us periodically to make sure we needed anything. Cute coastal decor, friendly service & he did check back regularly. I had the stuffed flounder.... It did not taste fresh, it wasn't a gross taste... just not as appealing as it should be. Calamari, oyster stew to start was good. Boiled baby shrimp salad was fresh and tasty. Definitely get the large flounder, lettuce, tomato, Baked Potato and Cole Slaw - (with the Cheese for only 50 cents extra for my baked potato) fits my appetite. Key Lime pie is my favorite dessert. The fried three combination platter was a good value for the money. Got the jumbo shrimp, popcorn shrimp, and salt and pepper catfish. The french fries were delicious with ranch and the ranch was very well-made.. Very quick service hot food. Recommend eating early before it gets crowded. Filthy restaurant in serious need of full scale overhaul starting with ripping out that bacteria infested carpet. Bland food. No longer serve alcoholic beverages. On the positive side, the waitress was extremely sweet and was genuinely concerned that we loved our meal. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was awful because she was just so incredibly sweet and was doing her best. So I'll start with the positive: easy parking, friendly greeter at the front, seated quickly and extremely sweet server. Use to stop by here often when traveling, 2-3 times a month, so disappointed today. I ordered shrimp and scallops, shrimp was so hard fried and over battered it was like concrete! Scallops were undercooked and greasy, baked potato was dry and over cooked and the slaw was just blah. Wife had a huge pile of popcorn shrimp, they were so greasy on the plate they oozed. Same potateo and slaw condition. The condition of the place is just old, tired and worn out, even my seat was crushed down to the point of being uncomfortable. Y'all need to fix this if you want to stay in business! By the looks of the ppl in here it's mostly locals, they'll walk away soon. My favorite seafood place in Sanford. Scallops, oysters, crab legs, flounder, and baby shrimp. Just to basically name what I get when I go there. Steamed or fried, doesn't matter to me. Went for the first time last week. Very disappointed. Being from Cape Cod I was excited to hear of this place.But I was quickly let down after the first bite. I'm still trying to figure out why this place was so packed on a Friday night, although I'm close to settling on lack of alternatives. Freeze dried French fries + broiled baby shrimp that had to have been seasoned with Cup-o-Noodle flavoring. The hush puppies were more doughy than they should have been and the salad was a plate of iceberg lettuce with 3 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 4 pieces of onion and a conservative amount of cheddar cheese. Sweet tea was top notch, however. Don't set your expectations too high; this place is inland enough that all bets are off with respect to seafood quality. read more

Driving around Sanford is kind of depressing. The entire place is for sale with thrift shops on every corner, but not that many restaurants. Despite the low rating of this place I decided to stop for lunch. There were plenty of cars in the parking lot, the lot itself was roomy and nice. The building was in good shape, and clean on my visit. The service was fast and friendly. My tea glass never went empty and I got tea to go. They have specials for lunch plus a full menu. I got the baby shrimp, and a friend got flounder. The food came out in a timely manner, it was all fresh and hot. It had a good taste. Portion sizes were huge. The price was great with lunch and tea under $10 out the door. This is your typical fried seafood house, not gourmet over priced seafood. I have no idea why the ratings are so bad for this place, but the food here is as good as any, great price and great service. read more
