I went to this office because of the location, but I highly recommend it because of the staff. The doctor is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We had a good conversation about my options for long-term eye care and was thoughtful with his responses. The receptionist was helpful and friendly (and offered me tea and water right away upon opening) She also called me after I bought my contacts through them to let me know that I was eligible for a mail-in-rebate, and stayed open ten extra minutes so I could make it to the office to pick up the rebate form. Had a great experience with this office, especially with the exam and order process. Dr. Liu really spent time during my exam to make sure I liked lens one OR two. Sometimes other offices make you feel rushed, but not here. The exam was very thorough. He also helped me find my eyes new BFF, My Day contact lenses. I have been struggling to find a comfortable lens for at least two years, and finally got prescribed one that fits like a glove with perfect clarity! The ordering process was a breeze with Teray (spelling?), and the turn around time was about 3 days! I love this office and will be back to buy some new spectacles very soon! read more

I'm so happy I found DR. LIU. He is super friendly and lifts my mood instantly with his charm. He also is a great optometrist, fast and efficient using the latest technology to determine my vision and eye health. I drive over to Emeryville from the City for my annual checkups.Also, there is NO pressure to buy expensive glasses, like my former Optometrist, who would dilate my eyes, then have one of her assistants pressure me to buy expensive spectacles. I really love this place. Finally, a decent optometrist after dealing with tons of unfocused or downright strange ones. THE BASICS 5/5: - free, secure off street parking - beautiful office space - an AMAZING selection of frames. I seriously had a hard time choosing just one pair to take home (I ended up buying two) - I don't know what the heck they freshen the office with, but it smells amazing - cute tote bags for all your goodies - extremely clean and has a restroom - love that they have candy with googly eyes attached (just thought the detail was worth mentioning) -accepts a lot of insurance, and they're great at explaining benefits and all of your costs and discounts THE EXAM 10/5: Never have I ever had a more thorough and complete exam. He really took his time, guided me through, and asked a bunch of questions. I had no idea that THIS was how an appointment should go. He's really attentive to needs and concerns and will do everything that is best for you. Dr. Liu will make sure you leave 110% satisfied with your care and prescriptions. He also won't try to get every last penny out of you and is honest in his recommendations. FOLLOW-UP COMMUNICATIONS/ADMIN 4/5: I absolutely love the staff and they all get 5 stars from me. When I got my new pair of sunglasses, the woman I was emailing noticed a blemish on them and ordered a new pair immediately, while letting me keep the ones i had until the new frames came in. They are also extremely prompt in responding to emails. Like lightning fast responses. It's amazing and everything I could hope for. However, it seems that miscommunications do occur. I was told I would receive calls when my items came in. Two weeks passed and no call about my glasses. I called and they said I should have received one. It was no big deal as they were on vacation for a couple of days and I wasn't in a hurry, but I was excited! Then I was told that my sunglasses hadn't come in yet (after two weeks) but I would get a call. No call. When that second pair of sunglasses was ready to be picked up, still no call. I ended up emailing them, which seems to be the preferred method of communication. Over a week ago (almost two weeks), I went in to confirm my contact prescription and paid for my supply. I was told it would take a week for shipping. I'm sure they're there but still no call. I'll probably shoot them a message when my sample pack runs out. I would love if they could leave me a voicemail, because it does become a bit tedious having to remember to email them and keep checking in because they forget to reach out. I keep having to keep driving to emeryville when I would prefer to pick everything up together once I know the status. It's all good though! I'm sure it's something they're working on. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough! I like emailing, so it's totally cool, but I like being able to see even more. UPDATE: the issue has been rectified! For some reason, they had an incorrect phone number, sort of like a placeholder one. After some email communications to pick up my contacts, my phone number is on file. When an order comes in, you are automatically updated on the status. read more

It has clean white walls, modern furniture, vintage/industrial shelves, is dog-friendly, and has an awesome graffiti inspired mural welcoming you, once you walk in the doors. Dr. Lui himself was very helpful and personable -- making a pleasant experience out of such mundane tasks, "Which one is better, A or B?". Yet he still has all the latest and greatest optometry gizmos, so you know you're getting the best service possible! After all the tests were done, the receptionist was able to help me make a decision on a frame style and place my order. They have all the hip and high end brands that you'd want or need. Since I ordered a custom color for the frame, the order took a bit longer than usual, but she made a point to call me and keep me updated on the status of my order -- which wasn't necessary, but very much appreciated. This optometry is pretty hipster and has a welcoming environment. Dr. Liu was really patient throughout my appointment and answered all my question with great detail. I mainly came in for a contact lenses prescription. When he gave me my trial lense he noticed that it didn't fit perfectly so he ordered another set of trial lenses and booked a follow up appointment.
