The rooms are well decorated and nice little food treats are left in the room in addition to little treats/amenities at night. Housekeeping was very good and friendly. All staff were welcoming. There is ample parking, which is nice. It's absolutely fantastic that they are dog friendly. Although the restaurants' china, silver, glassware, etc., are lovely and the food is presented in a beautiful manner, the food is average at best. That real downside to our stay. Even the drinks were not that great. How can you not brew good iced tea or make a decent daiquiri? We weren't told, but found the morning coffee and tea bar. Again lovely, but the water was never hot for the tea. Another disappointment is that they have a dedicated room to make things. Supposedly there's even a clay workshop. We were there in July, i'm assuming that is in-season for them, and there were no activities. That was very poor. I would've paid to do some kind of activity, but nothing was available. It was threatening to rain on and off, so it would've been nice to have something to do. It was too iffy to plan outdoor activities. Most resorts have some sort of activity, even if it's just a gratis yoga class/lecture/activity. There was nothing. Mind you, you really are in the middle of nowhere. There's nothing around to do. There is some kind of waterpark for young folks. I'm assuming that was open, not an adult activity. On top of it all, in the surrounding cities, most restaurants were closed on Sunday; Monday almost everything was closed; Tuesday even restaurants and shops are closed. This is in the summer? I wish I was warned about that!

Modern but still captured the old coastal feel. It was super musty and smelled like it. There was a dehumidifier but it was so small, in two nights we actually had to dump the water bucket 4 times. And if we left all day, we came back to a damp room. I'm not sure what causes that - we live in a super humid area and don't have the same issue, but maybe a larger humidifier would help. The breakfasts were fantastic - you can order anything off their restaurant menu. I didn't have anything bad, everything was super fresh and came in huge portions. I do wish they had an espresso machine but the coffee was okay. Check out was also a breeze. This isn't a luxury location, my main complaint was the price for it feels steep, but it's one of the only spots in the area which is probably why they can charge so much. There are a few studios in the back where artists-in-residence can be found working on their crafts, and classes available (there was a beading class in session the day I was there.) The clerk was a volunteer, as I think is all the staff, and she was super nice and gave me lots of information about the shop and artists. I bought an adorable knit jellyfish ornament (pictured) even though I was originally planning on just looking. Then I went through to the cafe, also manned by volunteers, these from the culinary guild. They had soups, a salad option, a sandwich option, and some baked goods, mostly already prepared. I got the autumn chopped salad with spring mix, apples, avocado, bacon and a cheddar cheese dressing. It came with a choice of fresh baked bread and I picked a molasses cornbread variety that was AMAZING. The sandwich option, which I did not get, is also worth mentioning because it was a grilled cheese with BACON AND JAM and sounded incredible. My salad was delicious though and I needed some greens in me. The volunteers were all so nice and helpful. I love this place!

I noticed several people using the laundry facilities, then going to their cars with clean clothes and leaving (obviously not guests). Late into the evening, cars were parked out front of the hotel with groups of people hanging out, cigarette and marijuana smoke everywhere and being pulled into my room by the AC unit. No staff member from the hotel made an attempt to intervene. Police were called, crowds somewhat dispersed, but shouting went on out front after police left- still no intervention by hotel staff. The no smoking signs posted shd be sufficient. Noisy (not the hotel's fault) but there is construction & a concrete saw going across the street all 3 days we were there. No water views in rooms 4&5 but a small water view on the shared porch. Shared porch would be nicer w a small planter or trellis between each room for a little privacy. Weak Wi-fi Wed stay again if Rooms 1, 2 or 3 were available.

They sometimes even have food vendors come to the parking lot. Had a great pizza truck which was awesome to bring pizza back to the room especially since the Italian restaurant shut down during COVID. They have a Farmer's Market, boat and golf cart parade, Oyster Festival, Halloween celebrations, great boutiques with fabulous clothing and unique gifts and wine shops and great prices on antiques to include an awesome flea market. Occasionally live music. Which is the best! They has been limited during COVID but hopefully will start up soon.

I hadn't stayed in one in over 15 years, however when you're stuck in the boonies at night, it is what it is. The woman at the front desk was really nice. Can't not mention the positive. Also, there were no bugs. Good job. But then there was also absolutely no level of comfort. The room was either extremely hot or the heater blew out cool air and it's three inches from the bed. There's no digital thermostat. You can't read the dial you're supposed to twist. You kinda don't even want to touch it. There are Bath and Body Works products in the bathroom, so that's the come-up, I suppose. Free showercap. Free wifi. Free breakfast. And lots of channels. Like, a whole lot. Basically, it'll do...if you need to sleep indoors. If it's spring or summer, you might do better in your car. I'm just sayin.

I don't expect a European spread, but a simple continental breakfast was, in fact, part of the reservation. We finally just left. Post-survey, nobody followed up. Customer service was so terrible (other than the people working the front desk). The front desk team was helpful and professional. So, clean room and front desk team was great, comfort and customer service were nonexistent. Not a good experience AT ALL.
