Ask the Community - The Chesapeake Inn

Does anyone know what the check-in and check-out times are? I've been trying to reach them for the last few days and left a message, but I haven't heard back yet.

I'm so sorry - we obviously missed this but hopefully you got your answer! We actually don't have a check in time because we work around our guests' schedules:). Check out time is 11 am. Schedule permitting, we are happy to give later check out… Read more

I recently escaped to Atherston Hall during Inauguration weekend. I wanted somewhere far away, and…read moreboy, did I get it. I didn't even have cell service, which, to me was wonderful. They had free wireless internet, so you can have some contact with the outside world if you like. This is a classic B&B, decorated in very soothing colors and liveable antiques. Coffee was put out early every morning, and the breakfasts were filling and tasty- with the highlights being what was made there- homemade granola and fresh preserves (jam). Bill makes great omlettes and bacon as well! The two labs, Abbey and Savana are sweeties, but only seemed to get used to us after 3 nights. They are protective and will bark, but in a way as to welcome you home. A quick rub behind the ears and they miraculously remember you. Urbanna itself is SMALL, so make sure you have activities beyond tea and breakfast- we just used the wireless to plan our outings each day. I was pleasantly surprised that our pet-friendly room not only had a door to the back garden (so you dont run through and disturb other guests) but there was no additional fee/rent. That combined with the great breakfasts make it very reasonable. I will be returning soon! p.s. location is wrong on map- located 1 block from Cross and Virginia Streets near the town center.

The whole weekend was relaxing and peaceful. Urbanna was a great town to walk around and everyone was so friendly. Make sure you check out the great nearby restaurants - Ostra and Merroir. The breakfasts served were absolutely delicious - and totally filling! The caramelized banana waffles are the stuff dreams are made of. This is a wonderful place to spend a weekend and I imagine it is even more beautiful in the summertime! Can't wait to go back!

Located steps away from The Rappahannock river This resort is bursting with comfort, stunning views and delicious food. **Activities :They have something for everyone! Pickleball, swimming pools, lounging cabanas, bocce balls, bikes, kayaks, boats, a spa and an art studio! **Food: The resort has two places to dine. Salt &meadow restaurant and The oyster shack which is more casual and located right by the pool. The food is fresh with many ingredients grown fresh out of their very own garden. **The property- This property is older and has been well maintained with many of the rooms undergone a renovation recently. The beds are extremely comfortable. The rooms have nice little amenities like lotion, and tasty snacks like the energizing granola bites. My favorite part of the property is the signature scent. It smells so good throughout the resort. The views are breathtaking taking. Overall I always enjoy this property. The world class service, stunning views and relaxation make this one of my favorite resorts to visit! Check it out!

The concierge is bar none one of the finest I've ever met. Her effort and execution was truly 5-star+ for everything we wanted to do. Even the bellman. The place is warm, comfortable, past-generation exquisite. I will return. The setting is like Maine. The property has everything you want. And the surrounding little towns are cute and quaint. The food is fabulous. It's a more sophisticated place - unlike Virginia Beach. You will love it. So worth the money.

I'm a sinensophile... I love tea... and tea rooms! I've been to almost every one in Virginia and…read morebeyond! So I was really looking forward to coming to Peace Hill Farm for their afternoon tea. I made reservations for me and my friend. It was a lovely drive ... At first... the gps directions are awful. I was taken down a road which was designated as peace hill - but we ended up at a red house, no one there, then we called and got even worse directions. The woman on the phone told us to go by the "red hen house" and through the woods... it was barely a road, full of tree roots, dirt path, and rocky terrain. After a 1/2 hour, we finally made it and end up at the back of the building. Come to find out, if she had just told us to go back to the main road and keep going 1/4-1/2 or so, we'd see the other entrance to the main house. Not a great first impression. The grounds were lovely and the farm animals gave a pastoral vibe. Inside was pretty too, but we were led to a rather secluded back room full of wool and yarn. Not that it wasn't cozy, but quite different from the dozens upon dozens of tea rooms I've been to. The lady who was "minding the store" didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. It took ages to get our teas and the tea (earl grey) tasted bland and stale, the soup was a putrid green (inedible) and while we were waiting we heard her chatting on the phone. Anyway, she wasn't the owner, so maybe she was new or just helping out?? The tea tier arrived and it looked nice... the sandwiches were good, basic cucumber, egg salad, and a pesto, with a mini ham biscuit... the scones were not good - sorry - but they were served with loads of cream and jam yet they should be served plain and the "condiments" on the side. My friend who can't have the toppings and preferred a plain scone, asked for a plain one. The lady said it would take 20 minutes . Which it did, and longer. All and all, it wasn't a very relaxing experience. I took some nice pictures, and we enjoyed the surroundings, but the afternoon tea service itself was mediocre. Sadly, we were disappointed, and I really wanted to love this place since I had heard good things... I'm sure the bed and breakfast side of the experience is probably much better. The sheep, the goats, the wool, the crafts, the pasture raised products, the farm life... that is your best bet from the other reviews I've read, but maybe you'll have a better tea time than we had. We might have to give this place another try and see if it improves.

We enjoyed the drink however, we had to ask for details about the drink and wish the host would have described it for us. The soup was a tomato soup which was ok but definitely didn't taste like tomato. In general we were disappointed in the food. The tea selection wasn't my favorite. I would have preferred a milder blend to go with the food rather than the choice of two strong flavors.
