I've been to Davidoff Optical since I got my first pair of glasses, and that was over 15 years ago. The people who helped me are still the same people to this day. They've always given great options and cared about what makes me feel, both aesthetically and physically! These options (both glasses and contacts) were often made affordable and clearly explained prior to any purchase. Also, I was recently surprised to see that they modernized their tech. They ran a lot of scans on my eyes that were seamless and gave me a remote/virtual eye test. The doctors and technician were so friendly and made me comfortable for the entire experience. First of all, the service here was amazing. I came here after a bad experience at an optician on Austin Street. They did a thorough exam. Not just lenses to see the writing on the wall, but exams on the machines with the lights to the back of the eyes, etc. (I don't know what they are called and exactly what each is supposed to do) Point being I got several tests before I got the whole "this one" vs "that one" lens experience. I was very bummed that I did not come here first. It is actually unfair to do a comparison between Davidoff and the crap shoot, so called opticians almost next to Rove. Davidoff honored the appointment time, no crazy wait. Davidoff did a complete exam. Davidoff had a wide selection of affordable frames. They gave me all the time in the world to choose frames that worked for me. Do I highly recommend them? ABSOLUTELY!! My eyesight, prescription and insurance are all complicated. Robert at Davidoff was so patient and thorough in helping me navigate through all of it. I often have problems finding the right prescription due to my strong astigmatism, and my selection of eyeglasses are usually limited because of that - but for the first time I didn't have to compromise on style and I CAN SEE!!!!! Yes, much of the exam is done remotely but this is a pandemic and that's the future and the future is now. I didn't feel I was short changed at all by not having an in-person doctor, and in fact, the doctor spent a lot of time with me answering my questions. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

When Pearle Vision in Rego Park closed about 5 years ago, I had to find a new optical center. After a disappointing experience at a high priced Queens Boulevard eyeglass center, I was pleased to find Davidoff Optical Center just up the street on 63rd Drive. Both Laura and Robert were helpful to my wife and me in filling new prescriptions and selecting fames. Laura explained all the options available and what my insurance would and would not cover. Their prices are what I consider extremely reasonable and there is no high-pressure sales pitch for add-ons. They are also very patient with frame adjustments. Beware! If you are a Medicaid patient, they will try to use you to make the most money for themselves!! They will lie to the insurance company and tell them that they made glasses for you when they didn't. That is what happened to me! When confronted and when they were caught, they had to immediately return the money! Once again, if you are a Medicaid patient, please DO NOT go here! You will be treated very poorly Update and response to owner's comment: firstly, we were informed by the insurance company and individuals who worked on the case that YOU HAD FILED FOR ALL THE MATERIALS REQUIRED AND THAT YOU HAD GOTTEN PAID FOR IT. Additionally, we were told that the high lenses were in fact covered and that we would be able to have them made for us. ALSO, I did pick frames after you stated that you would submit a claim! I have no reason to fabricate a story and this is usually the case for lots of Medicaid patients who are unaware and not taken as seriously as other customers. This is because the bill is covered directly by insurance and we don't know what was charged, thus we need to be more careful. The test included all the tests needed on devices that looked pretty good. As good as a Davidoff de oro ... not a cigar related outfit ... but the owner took great care of my Prada lens (which were subpar) and replaced them with polarized lens that are superb. The maui jims i purchased were one of the best sunglasses i ever owned ... Rant about my missing glasses (they were either taken by accident by an unknown person or fell through a blackhole ... most likely a real malokah ... I need a high index prescription - 14.00 and -15.00 approximately which basically means that I must be very careful with the shape of my lens. We had decided on one pair which did not work out because it had a fish-eye effect when others are looking at my eyes and I expressed my concern which Robert addressed by letting me choosing a new pair of frames that he had to make all over again without charging any extra fees. I also ordered contacts and he was able to order me a year's worth at a fair price that fit perfectly. He was VERY patient with me because this entire process took AT LEAST 2.5 months to complete.
