Because they couldn't confirm safe products, our soaking tub ended up being filled with just warm water instead of any of the advertised aromatherapy, Himalayan salt, or coconut milk options -- yet we were still charged full price. No apology or acknowledgment was offered despite the incorrect information given prior to our visit. It was especially disappointing because we otherwise had a great experience at the hotel, but the spa service and customer care did not match that standard.

We started off in the changing rooms which were really nice and clean. There were a lot of little goodies available to help you freshen up before your service. We were also each given a locker key, sandals, and a robe which we appreciated. Once you are changed, you wait in the lounge where the staff will get you when they are ready. The lounge was water, coffee, tea, and a handful of snacks available while you wait. My husband and I were picked up promptly at our start time and were led into our room. The ladies that worked with us were great and did a good job adjusting things for us as needed. Since I'm pregnant, they had special pillows for me so that I could lay in my stomach. I thoroughly enjoyed moving from the cold plunge to the heated pool, then relaxing by the fire pit, and indulging in the steam room and dry sauna. The only bit that irked me a little was that this place is supposed to be SILENT and also they clearly stated in the rules that there are no saving seats with personal items but these rules were both not enforced, people were talking/laughing and not a single staff was there to remind them to quiet down. Also around the firepits people were leaving their towels to claim spots so it was hard to find a seat around the firepits, 2 of the firepits had no one sitting there but all the chairs had towels on them. The anti-gravity chairs were also really squeaky (like more than normal), so it was hard to relax with all the sounds. Overall a nice place but they really should enforce the rules that they have to make it a more pleasant experience for those of us who are there to relax. Also- not sure why it is so hard for people to follow the rules, i mean are you guys just stupid or illiterate and can't read the signs that say "silence"?

I had booked online with a tech who had great reviews but was given someone else. I decided to stay anyway. I paid extra for Dazzle Dry, which is peeling after 2 days. My previous Dazzle Dry manicure, done while on vacation, lasted 10 days without chipping because it was properly applied. I feel bad because the staff seems really sweet but based on reviews and my experience, results can be inconsistent.

Here are some of the good and could be better Points: Good! - discount for locals! - nice sauna and steam room - facilities are very nice and relaxing - service from all staff was outstanding! - massage was pure heaven! I'll be back for sure. Could be better... - because it's a hotel (I guess) you need a key to get in the building. Then you need a key to get in the locker room. OR you press a buzzer or call the number on the door. Makes for a bit of an awkward first impression / not easy to go back and forth from treatment area upstairs to locker room with sauna and steam room downstairs. - there are no alcoholic beverages available. When we inquired about having a birthday toast they suggested we could bring our own bubbly and sit outside in the hammocks/swings. We did this and it was very nice! But see the point above about getting back in. Bit challenging! - Here's an easy one to fix: there is no cold water in the locker room so if you go in the sauna you'll need to go back upstairs to refill your cup or water bottle then have someone let you back into the locker room. A simple water station in the locker room would solve this issue, - Toiletries are available (a plus!) but on demand (not convenient). Would be great to have a few common items out like many spas (deodorant, hair spray, hair ties, etc.)

The exterior and interior were not particularly modern, and some prior reviews noted issues with communication, but we found the owner was very friendly and welcomed us in, and we were the only customers given the late hour. Overall, we liked the owner and the other team member doing the whole body massages as they both listened to feedback and adjusted pressure. Pretty thoroughly massages and went for the full hour too, and the prices were comparable to other places in downtown Monterey.
