They took advantage of a sick person who has been…read morebedridden for the last two years and just started getting out of bed and started gardening. I purchased their 420 gardening mix which THEY THEMSELVES RECOMMEND for gardening purposes. When I started watering the soil, as the water contacted the soil it became apparent that is was mostly sand. I proceeded to do a quick soil test where you put your soil in a jar and shake it. The contents will fall on to the bottom and separate into layers. To my eye, it looked like it was 60-70% sand. I kept calling asking questions about the soil, BUT Theresa, the owner kept going in circles, repeating their no refund policy and stating they haven't had issues with the soil. Understandably so I got impatient and upset with Theresa and told her that the product is a scam. I will admit, I was upset and hung up on her as she DID NOT APOLOGIZE ONCE. She kept telling me "I'm sorry you feel this way but the soil is good, I don't know what to tell you." The whole time I was on the phone with her, which was multiple times, she never told me that she was the owner. I asked to speak to a manager. She gave a number to call. Well, it turns out she referred me to her soil supplies. This guy mixes the soil himself. According to him it is 50% sand. A quick google search will tell you that soil should not contain more than 25% sand. Their supplier, whom Theresa referred me to, told me the sand content is 50%!!!!!!!!!! I spent 4K thousand dollars on this garden, paid guys to fill the beds and not I have 5 cubic yards of unusable soil. I posted about this in my local Facebook page and other people are reporting the same issue. I'm being quoted thousands to dig it up and dispose of it. This soil should not be marketed as a gardening soil. I'm sure it's great for other things but not gardening. It is a scam and it will ruin your gardening dreams. I also purchased some pea gravel, that I love. But their gardening mix is flawed and needs fixing. Please don't make the same mistake as I did. This business has no integrity and goes as far as to slander their customers and make it out to be the customers fault. I hung up on Theresa because of many reasons one for them being that I'm severely ill from very difficult medication I'm taking and running to the bathroom with nausea and vomiting multiple times per day. The owner has since attacked me personally online on Facebook where I asked if people were having issues with the soil. She hasn't apologized or attempted to try to remedy any of it.

This business was fairly professional at first, although hard to get ahold of. The curbing came out splotchy and discolored, and there were chips and cracks as well. They also placed the curbed edging across drip watering lines, rather than moving them slightly to the side (the lines didn't have to cross under the curbing...they ran parallel). When told about the sprinkler line issue, the chips in the cement, and the fractured surface they were dismissive. When told about the cracking that resulted from shallow, insufficient contraction joints, they said "that's standard." It's funny how the other ten houses with curbed edging on our street didn't have any of these problems...clearly it's not standard. After two weeks, I showed the owner the discoloration in person. He was defensive and irritable from the start. I was taken aback by his attitude. He said "concrete is supposed to be discolored for the first month...it will resolve after a few more weeks." When I pointed to all the other edging on our block that isn't discolored, he said "those companies added too much water. That's why their concrete is a uniform color." I asked him if he would come back in a few weeks if the discoloration continued, he said "Sure, but that's just how it is." Now we can't reach the company. This was a bad job all around, and it didn't come cheap either. Worse yet, they were rude and defensive as soon as problems arose.

The natural grass was hard to maintain, since the sprinklers were not functioning properly, but the artificial lawn has vastly improved the curb appeal of our father's property. Without increasing estimated costs, Green Planet Landscaping surprised us with an additional amenity that actually rectified an issue raised by the local HOA. Thus, we are 110 percent satisfied with their service. Inasmuch as I live several hours away from Brentwood and Discovery Bay, I did not have the pleasure of meeting Alan in person. However, our communications were very effective and I am delighted to have completed this task as our father's Power-of-Attorney.

After living in our home for a year, it was time to redesign our backyard. I submitted a price quote request on Yelp and received a few responses to schedule a consultation. After meeting with other landscape companies, my choice was to go with Alan at Green Planet Landscape. It wasn't just about the price quote, but Alan's thoughtful ideas and recommendation made us trust him even more with the project. He would make sure our backyard would look amazing and presentable. He drew a sketch design for us to submit to the HOA. After we got an approval from the HOA for the project, Alan scheduled us within a few days. Alan first introduced me to Angel to have him do a walkthrough around the backyard. We had them install stone walls, pavers, artificial turf, and planter beds. The project lasted about 3 days and they did a fantastic job on transforming our backyard. My wife is so in love with plants and was very happy they planted her plants in the soil. Our dogs were so excited and love playing on the turf. I would highly recommend Green Planet Landscape. We finally are comfortable to contact them in the near future.

He's a sweet talker, will price under the competition, but will do a poor job and not respond to you once the job is done. I am in the process of pursuing legal action; save yourself a headache. Tito was quick to give an estimate and could start the project right away. It was for a 1,000 sq ft pad in my backyard and drainage for 4 days. He charged me $13,000. He told me he would be profiting $4,000 from the project which I'm surprised he told me. He was friendly throughout the process and I reciprocated. I fed him and his nephew lunch twice and brought them cold drinks throughout the project. I should've noticed a red flag when I emphasized I need the pad to slope to the drain. I emphasized this twice a day for 3 days consecutively. He said he has so much experience it won't be a problem, but he never brought it out a laser. Big red flag. Once the concrete cured, I'm left with three massive puddles whenever the pad is wet, which has now been a pain with my kid getting incredibly dirty with all the dirt accumulating in those spot. I was also surprised to see he doesn't finish his projects. He subcontracts to a couple of Latino guys who put the final touches on the pad. Not what I expected. The worst part is my multiple attempts to contact Tito for resolution went unanswered. See my text screenshots. He thought he could use his mistake as an opportunity to do my driveway. No way I'd trust him near my property ever again. Spend a bit more, hire quality guys. Don't hire Tito and save yourself a headache.

Hired him for concrete work last year in my yard…read more TLDR: Don't recommend. Be careful! * He give you the price based on more work, then later he will tell you that's not necessary so they can do less and earn more. For example in my project, originally I asked them to remove more dirt before paving the concrete and they say "that's a lot of work", then later they "Oh we can not remove that much dirt because blah blah ..." * Make sure everything, including all the details written on the contract. Otherwise you will pay more. And truth is that most likely you are not able to write down all the details, so you will be ended with paying more. Things you think is part of their job, he will say "no that's not on the contract". For example my project includes paving concrete plus building a planter box. After the planter box was built, there was a small gap (~ 20 ft x 1.25 ft ) between the planter box and the fence that was not covered by concrete. I asked them to pave concrete for that gap, then they said it was not on the contract, so for that little gap they did in 15 min, they charged me $200. * If you want to fill 1099 form to him, ask him to fill W-9 before the work started. Don't start the work before W-9 filled. In my case, originally he said "No problem, I will fill W-9 when we sign the contract", and "Every year I have a few customers asking for W-9, you know, having a few 1099 is good for my tax report", but later he said "No problem I will bring the W-9 form to you when you give me the last check", then after I made the last check he said "No problem I will give you the W-9 next week when I came to pick up the remaining bricks". So he said "I will give you the W-9" once and once again, but never really gave me the W-9, and finally he said "I don't think it's right to give you the W-9, and I never did that to other customers". * Don't pay off unless they finish everything, removing any junk they should remove, and you are OK if you can not find them again. In my case, fortunately I withheld $350 -- unfortunately I should withhold more.

This project was outside my usual area, so going in without any existing relationships was a bit of a concern--but Byron and his team delivered across the board. He coordinated everything seamlessly--concrete, pump, and even helped us out when my crew left tools behind in another town by quickly getting us what we needed on site. That level of responsiveness goes a long way when you're trying to keep a job moving. Super easy to communicate with, quick response times, and overall just a great team player. If I could give six stars, I would. I really wish his company was closer to where we typically work--I'd use him every single time. Also, for context--most of the reviews I saw were from homeowners. As a contractor, I'll say this: when you're coordinating a larger pour, it makes a big difference working with a true professional. Concrete companies are there to supply and support--they're not there to run your entire project--and Byron's team did exactly what they're supposed to do, and did it well.

We were looking for a possible leak and I contacted them asking if they offered any type of maintenance on their equipment since we don't know what to look for or how it works. We were told there were some valves and a shut off valve located on auto fill feature. Again, not being familiar with any of the equipment involved with said feature we weren't sure what to look for. We ended up digging up the rocks and finding that it was in fact the auto fill feature not stopping causing it to constantly drain out the front of our home. Immediately called the company and left a message and haven't even received a call back. I ended up calling another company to come help me with the feature and show me how the system works. The only advice I received from AJs was they don't offer maintenance and they recommended I call a leak detection company. For the amount of money the former homeowner paid for this backyard I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of care for their faulty water feature, the lack of compassion for helping me to understand how the system worked and the lack of response.
