While he's a nice guy and knows his plant species well, when it comes to actual implementation he gets an F. First off, he doesn't understand irrigation very well. Despite multiple offers for me to explain how the zones are setup he doesn't pay attention or take notes. He prefers to jerry-rig things in bizarre ways that don't make any sense. At least half a dozen times I have found that my irrigation lines were not even connected to anything, hence my plants were dying. He clearly does not check is work. Second, the people he hires are downright lazy. He hires people from his classes who don't actually want to be out there digging, hauling dirt, or anything that requires actual labor. When Ryan isn't around which is about 75% of the time his people just sit there and do nothing. When they hear his car pull up they get right back to work. The project took 2x longer than it should because of how lazy his workers are. Finally, I told Ryan I wanted a full landscape and instead I got some plants placed here and there. It looks sparse and unappealing. For the $20K I spent I would have been better off going to the Home Depot and picking up some plants and some guys. Avoid Cummings Landscape. It's a big waste of time and money.

Due to the difficulty and risk involved for excavation, it was hard to find a contractor to take on the job but from my initial consult with Victor, him and his team noted their experience with these scenarios and he was confident they can do it in less than a day. On excavation day they brought the necessary equipment and tools and were very cautious about the gas pipe. They ended up finishing the job in less than a half day! To follow up, we realized we needed more excavation at the apron of the driveway and Victor again came to the rescue and excavated that for us a week later. Carrillo's Concrete was the first Yelp-guaranteed contractor who responded to my request, and quoted a flat price which was under what other non-guaranteed contractors quoted. They maintained communication with me throughout the process, even when we had a rain delay, and came out to do the work on the next clear day. Four and a half hours later, we had a nicely repaired walkway with aggregate that was almost a perfect match for our existing walkway. We'll always be able to tell that there's been a repair, but people who hadn't seen it before probably won't notice that it's been repaired. Carrillo's Concrete did a great job with this repair. We cannot recommend them more highly.

Tito was quick to give an estimate and could start the project right away. It was for a 1,000 sq ft pad in my backyard and drainage for 4 days. He charged me $13,000. He told me he would be profiting $4,000 from the project which I'm surprised he told me. He was friendly throughout the process and I reciprocated. I fed him and his nephew lunch twice and brought them cold drinks throughout the project. I should've noticed a red flag when I emphasized I need the pad to slope to the drain. I emphasized this twice a day for 3 days consecutively. He said he has so much experience it won't be a problem, but he never brought it out a laser. Big red flag. Once the concrete cured, I'm left with three massive puddles whenever the pad is wet, which has now been a pain with my kid getting incredibly dirty with all the dirt accumulating in those spot. I was also surprised to see he doesn't finish his projects. He subcontracts to a couple of Latino guys who put the final touches on the pad. Not what I expected. The worst part is my multiple attempts to contact Tito for resolution went unanswered. See my text screenshots. He thought he could use his mistake as an opportunity to do my driveway. No way I'd trust him near my property ever again. Spend a bit more, hire quality guys. Don't hire Tito and save yourself a headache.

Hired him for concrete work last year in my yard…read more TLDR: Don't recommend. Be careful! * He give you the price based on more work, then later he will tell you that's not necessary so they can do less and earn more. For example in my project, originally I asked them to remove more dirt before paving the concrete and they say "that's a lot of work", then later they "Oh we can not remove that much dirt because blah blah ..." * Make sure everything, including all the details written on the contract. Otherwise you will pay more. And truth is that most likely you are not able to write down all the details, so you will be ended with paying more. Things you think is part of their job, he will say "no that's not on the contract". For example my project includes paving concrete plus building a planter box. After the planter box was built, there was a small gap (~ 20 ft x 1.25 ft ) between the planter box and the fence that was not covered by concrete. I asked them to pave concrete for that gap, then they said it was not on the contract, so for that little gap they did in 15 min, they charged me $200. * If you want to fill 1099 form to him, ask him to fill W-9 before the work started. Don't start the work before W-9 filled. In my case, originally he said "No problem, I will fill W-9 when we sign the contract", and "Every year I have a few customers asking for W-9, you know, having a few 1099 is good for my tax report", but later he said "No problem I will bring the W-9 form to you when you give me the last check", then after I made the last check he said "No problem I will give you the W-9 next week when I came to pick up the remaining bricks". So he said "I will give you the W-9" once and once again, but never really gave me the W-9, and finally he said "I don't think it's right to give you the W-9, and I never did that to other customers". * Don't pay off unless they finish everything, removing any junk they should remove, and you are OK if you can not find them again. In my case, fortunately I withheld $350 -- unfortunately I should withhold more.

Connie was one of five landscapers that we scheduled for estimates for our backyard when we moved to Brentwood in March. I had done a lot of research on NextDoor trying to find only top notch people to contact because, let's be honest, the estimate process alone is painful/time-consuming for both the business owner and the homeowner so we only wanted talk to the best; Connie came highly recommended. After having a "contractor" make a horrific error in our backyard, we were feeling extremely vulnerable and needed someone we could trust to not only help us fix the mistake that was already made, but also make our dream backyard come to life with our budget in mind. I admit that it did take Connie longer than others to get back to me initially, however, when she came to our house to look at our yard and give us some ideas, she spent way more time with us than anyone else had. She also was the ONLY person to provide us with a landscaping plan drawn out on paper and a scope of work that broke down the individual costs by category (irrigation, drainage, concrete, retaining wall, foliage, etc) versus a singular total cost of $X for this project. To me, this demonstrates honesty and integrity because we were able to clearly see what we were being charged for each item and adjust them if we felt necessary.
