Each time I've come here looking for something specific, staff is very helpful and pointed me to exactly the aisle I needed. They had a few items I couldn't find in big-box stores, and have excellent customer service. I appreciate the home town feel of this location as well as it's roomy layout and friendly team members. You know with all the big box hardware stores around here, THIS is one of my favorites! I am not a hardware type of person,my husband is the one who is like a kid in the candy store when in a hardware store! But I have to say, when I do need one, this is my favorite. Why? Mainly because of the people who are knowledgeable of their products, stuff and can make keys well. I have gone to the Antioch ACE to make keys and they did it wrong. I knew I shouldn't have and even told my husband I think we should go to the Brentwood one bc I know they will do it right! My husband said they are all the same-of course, I was right! The 6 keys I made, three were done wrong and visibly so. I went straight to the Brentwood one to get a refund and make new ones and they spotted it was wrong right away. They did the keys over and did it correctly. That was just last week! Then today they had a Friends and Family Night from 5-8 pm where they will give you 20% off your entire purchase! Oh, you have to go to this event! We were there and it was packed, many kids waiting for Santa and you could palpate the excitement of the employees, customers and kids. I mean who doesn't get excited seeing Santa saying "Ho, Ho, Ho!" Well, maybe except the Grinch! We got EXCEPTIONAL service and especially great tutorial about the saw from JOSH (rental superviser I think) which convinced us to get the saw even though Stihl was a bit more expensive than the one we saw at Tractor Supply. I want to recognize another employee (receipt says BOK-initials I assume) who I ordered custom screens from as well and the key guy(he really knows his stuff and you are in good hands with him!) ! How many places make screens for your house (different kinds too-even pet screens) and have general handyman services available (every hardware store should have that!)?! Then we got a Stihl chainsaw as well. I try to buy/support local businesses and buy products that are made in the USA and with the 20% off this certainly helps us! I spent about 639.00 just during this event! They also made it festive and had lots of wine, lemonade and coffee. They had cookies and a sampling of their various pies they sell! I have heard their pies were very good-thinking wow I spent plenty here, I am going to make sure I sample all the pies lol-peach, blueberry and strawberry rhubarb (never had that one before- a bit tart)! They were yummy! So it was like a cheerful hometown event with the townspeople there-I kind of felt nostalgic like I was in a "It's a Wonderful Life" movie! Also, I like that it is bright, clean and spacious with a hometown hardware store feel-I hate the big box type of cold industrial stores where you get lost and you cannot find anyone that really knows what you or they are talking about. I like their whimsical creative arts sections for home decor, barbeque seasoning area(great bbq sauces and rubs, btw), patio and garden area. I'm giving this store 4 bc of the old ppl that work there. If it wasn't for them, I would never shop here. They were helpful and attentive to my needs. This morning I was in the garden section looking for a wagon. 3 Young ppl ( teens) I think. 2 guys 1 woman. All 3 saw me looking at the wagon that was up high. When I go to ace I typically find what I need and it's uneventful, but man does Bob at the rental center have a stick up his @$$ . I rented a rototiller and when I picked it up the kid at the counter told me to hose it off as best as I could before I brought it back, which I did, but it wasn't clean enough for bob so he wouldn't give me back my deposit. I took it to the power washing station and power washed it spotless, and when I brought it back it still wasn't good enough for bob and that's how I knew he was just a bitter old man. Bob had the audacity to open the tiller up and point out that there was still weeds in it... in the rototiller... needless to say I will not be returning to ace rental center as they will say anything to keep your deposit. On January 29th, my sister told me that the pipe under the sink busted. Frantic, due to the fact everything was closed, I waited until the next day. So, with the help of the associates, they help me get pieces together, and I don't know the lingo to what each pipe or whatever makes it work. So, every day, I took on one task at a time until I was able to finally finish it today, so my sink was inopprotable for 6 days. The end result is that my sink is back to working. Yay read more

We've lived in the area for more than 5 years now and I've spent a lot of time and money in this hardware store. Overall I think the store is fantastic. It's a decently large store for an Ace hardware and the selection for hardware, tools, etc. is much better than other nearby alternatives (excluding big box stores). It still has the small store feel though, with good, friendly help. But that's also where some of my concerns come in. It's run a bit like a small family store, but it's not. It's too big to be run this way and generate consistent experiences. I've had some amazingly positive experiences and some shockingly bad ones. But overall since they seem to hire friendly, helpful folks, the good far outweighs the bad. In particular I like the actual "hardware" element of this store. Fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws) and all manner of related items are provided with the best selection in town. read more

Been in Brentwood since 2003 and probably spend a few hundred a month at ACE on a very consistent basis, took a Cathhartt sweatshirt back because it did not fit, tried it on stuck it back in the bag and back to the store. An employee looked at and said we can't return it as there was a barely visible tiny spot that I hadn't noticed on the shirt. 60.00 and can't wear it thanks ACE. Amazon and Lowe's from now on! This is the largest Ace Hardware I have seen. The store is huge and they have a large selection. I went to purchase seeds and to my surprise they were 50% off. I'm only giving 3 stars because I was watched like a hawk the entire time I was in the store (unlike the other shoppers lol). The irony of it all is when I went to the register the employee asked if he could scan just 1 pack of seeds and put in the total quantity. He was told yes and proceeded to count the packs. NOW, I could have let him scan the pack for $1.89 and just put in the total quantity. However, being the honest person that I am, I explained to him that they weren't all the same price, the prices ranged from $1.89 to $3.49 per pack. My husband and I think they are very helpful - very kind, very knowledgeable and we frequent the store for fast and courteous service. Shame on you entiteled people. You will stand in long grocery store lines for items, long lines in retail stores and pay outrageous prices in these establishments - own big screen televisions and electronic devises that cost you a fortune in subscriptions but you complain about a small hardware store??? I needed help with a tow hitch for my truck. Joseph in automotive dept. was so kind and helpful. He offered to help take off the big bolt to flip over so I can use it in the higher position. Please save your time renting tools from them! Go to Herc's they never fail! We are a small family owned concrete and epoxy company who decided to support local and try out Ace's tool rentals. Worst decision we could have made as a business. I will never rent from them again. A small 4 square garage that normally takes 4-5 hours became a two day process because their tool kept over heating and would take a full hour to turn back on.
