This place had so much potential. It was cute looking, overlooking the water with a nice covered patio. The menu was extensive, and looked really good. Unfortunately, the food didn't deliver. Between my friend and I, we had: Mushroom caps - too small to even actually be stuffed, so it was essentially just stuff on top of mushrooms. The stuff on top included shredded, chewy fake crab meat and what seemed like a pound of cheese. Very bad. Large Caesar salad - Very bland, aside from the fact that they dumped an entire container of Renee's dressing in it. Pickerel with vegetables and twice baked potato - The pickerel was a bit overcooked, but tasty. The vegetable was just 4 slices of zucchini fried in butter - simple, but not bad. And then the twice baked potato, which was essentially mashed potatoes smothered in cheese. No crispiness like twice baked potatoes usually are, and would have tasted better with some green onion and if it weren't so wet and mushy. The service was friendly and attentive. But that's not enough to make up for the crappy food. read more

My family have been loyal patrons of this café for the past 15-30 years. We've seen it through 2-3 owners and many versions of the menu. To be honest, even we, sometimes, have mediocre experiences; however, for the most part, they are one of the gems of Parry Sound. The atmosphere is home-like, especially considering the café is located on the main floor of a two-story house. They have some tables inside but most of their seating is located on their wrap around patio which allows you to dine basking in the beauty of Georgian Bay. Reservations are recommended if you are wanting to dine either before or immediately after one of the nearby tourist attractions when this café is busiest. Their drink menu is extensive and includes options that you wouldn't normally find on a typical drink menu. They are able to make delicious frozen cocktails, common mixed drinks, beer and wine. The drinks are a really good size and you aren't paying more then you would at a big-name restaurant. Between my parents, myself, and the various friends/family we have taken to this café, we have tried almost everything on the menu. Some of our personal favourites are their: pastas, trout, steak and cheddar sandwich, and desserts (just to name a few). Each item is a really good size and they are able to accommodate most diet restrictions and allergies. Cost is equal or better than many of the other dining establishments in Parry Sound. I would definitely recommend this café to anyone in the area who is looking for a place to dine. read more

Came for lunch two days ago. My partner and I come to Parry Sound often (he's from here) but hadn't made it to this spot yet. The porch has a beautiful view and we had no trouble getting a spot. I had a blu-rita which is a margarita with a blue curacao float - pretty tasty! I ordered the pickerel tacos and my partner ordered the club. My tacos were very tasty and the fries were good. My partners club was very bland and old tasting. I would come back to this spot for a cocktail on the porch for sure! read more

Came here a late summer evening with my son. This is the only place with a kids menu (apart from the pizza place down the road). We sat outside on the porch, which provided a great view of the habour and the sound. They had a number of local beers on draft, which I appreciated. My Fish'n'Chips was good with some of the best sweet potato fries I have had in a while, and my son finished his plate which I take as a good sign. Service was friendly if a little spotty from time to time. I would come back if we were in the area. read more

The restaurant had great potential but sadly the food was expensive and awful. Had the "Homemade" New England Clam Chowder. Got a large bowl of potato soup, had 2 very small pieces of Clam. Then had the seasoned rainbow trout. There was no seasoning on the trout, couldn't eat it. The side salad came with the worst Italian dressing I have ever been served, couldn't eat it. The 4 slices of grilled zucchini was good. The waitress was by herself and waited on the patio as well as the inside. She was very busy and extremely pleasant. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This place is horrid. Not only is the food terrible, but the restaurant is actually dirty, too. The last time I visited, I ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. The salad was just a bagged salad I can buy at the grocery store and the chicken was actually inedible. Cold and rubbery, I couldn't even cut it with a knife. I'm not exaggerating. My sister ordered chicken quesadillas and had the same issue with her chicken. She couldn't eat it. The table we were seated at consisted of several tables put together, and there were crumbs and other debris in the cracks where the tables met. I was seated next to a dead potted plant. One of the worst dinning experiences ever!!! Service was slow, took 1 hour to get out meals, I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and it consists or under cooked dry shell noodles on the bottom, topped with mushy clumps of canned lobster( very cat food Like) then topped with black burnt bread crumbs! The dish had no flavour at all except for burnt toast crumbs! Next we ordered the crab cakes which were deep fried and saturated with oil , another cat food like dish! The sad part is the price they are charging for these dishes is expensive!! So bring a picnic or go to Boston pizza! read more

I've been coming here for many years. Great location, mediocre food and usually terrible service. My meal today will be my last - I won't eat here again. 15 minutes to get a menu. 25 to get a drink order in. I can't remember when the food came or what it tasted like as I was so hungry - though I do remember raw bacon on my Cobb salad. This resaturant is a great place to go. The food is spectacular with lovely dinners and lunches prepared with care,and when weather permits you can dine out on the deck overlooking the Bay where there are many activities scheduled from May 24 to Thanksgiving. The Island Queen is docked across the street and there are flights out for tourists as well to. Will continue to go back. My husband and I go there at least twice a summer. read more

Just returned from a lovely trip to Parry Sound. All was great until our last day when we had the unfortunate experience of dining at Bay Street. First, let me just say that it was our waitress Sara's first day on the job and she was not the issue. In fact, I would tell Sara to do herself a favor and find a better restaurant to work at. Now to the food which was a joke! Our Caesar salad was okay if you like bottled dressing and the roast garlic (which most likely came from a jar) was a nice touch. How is it that a restaurant uses tea from a gun? Is it that difficult to brew fresh tea? Not to mention that some people like their tea unsweetened? Even a southerner would not drink sweet tea from a gun! Really? And then there was the crab cake! Let's just start by saying that it looked like a hockey puck! Way over cooked, brown looking mushy thing that looked as if there was no crab to be seen with the exception of some stringy fibers of white stuff and a very fishy smell. Sure was a lot of breading though! Both my sister and I just could not eat them and sent them back. I mentioned to another waitress that I was sure they were frozen and she insisted they were made fresh the night before and that they were one of the most popular appetizers. Then as my sister was returning from the bathroom she overheard her telling someone that we should at least have to pay for half! That is when I knew I would write a review. First, do not insult my intelligence. I would never pay for something that was as terrible as these crab cakes and yes I am pretty sure they were a frozen product. How can I be sure? Well I guess that after 30 years in the food industry I would know these things. So, to this waitress do yourself a favor and don't insult your guest!! Also, your 'rule' regarding seating 2 people at a small table is awful when there are not many people in your restaurant. We noticed an older couple come in and tried to sit at a table for four but she told them that they had to sit at small table? They call it hospitality for a reason and you should try to respect your elders. So, I am pretty sure that on our next trip to the area we will not be dining at your restaurant.
