I have hired Mike several Times in the last 7 years. Each time I was completely satisfied with his work . (although one time he provided smaller less expensive laurels than I wished, but that saved me money and they have grown) HIs crew is knowledgable, and he has always been there to oversee the work. Tyler did an artistic job with an old Eucalyptus, and all seem knowledgable. They finished a major trimming job today and all is clean with no evidence that they were here. Kudos. read more

We bought a house 2 years ago and none of the mature trees had been pruned in very long time. It included 2 very large Japanese Maples, 4 full grown ornamental pears, a magnolia, and a very tall hedge. BayView did a beautiful job with all of the trees. They were shaped, thinned, and trailers and dead limbs were removed. Some of the errors of previous destructive cutting were thoughtfully corrected. I now feel confident that all the trees will continue to grow in a natural and healthy way. The quality of their workmanship is excellent. They are knowledgeable. They work efficiently. They showed up on time wearing masks; I went over what was to be done and they proceeded to start working. It was an aging apple tree with one of its main limbs splitting down the middle. They cut the limb off, trimmed and shaped the tree as best as they could, and moved onto a couple of other tasks that needed to be done. They worked quickly, and cleaned up everything, leaving the property clean and neat. I highly recommend them. They did everything they were asked to do, and did it well. They're pretty busy, so they couldn't get out to do the work for a month or so, but they told me that ahead of time, so no surprises. They're good, they know what what they're doing, and they're reliable. read more

They did an amazing job removing a dead tree in front of my house. I had recently had concrete poured and they were careful to not damage it. Also, they were pleasant in dealing with a picky neighbor. It is a tight space, but they covered everything and did a great job cleaning up afterward. Couldn't be more pleased! Mike was recommended by someone who has worked with him and his crew repeatedly. He was already scheduled to do the neighbor's yard, so we asked him to do an estimate for our large dawn redwoods, maple, and another neighbor's redwood. I know quite a bit about tree upkeep and was impressed with Mike's knowledge and thoughtful ideas about shaping and caring for the trees. His estimate was very reasonable and we were able schedule for the same day as next door! Our block looked like it was taken over today as they were on three rooftops simultaneously! Really--everything is great about this company! Edna in the office kept me in the loop on the dates. The estimate was reasonable. The guys arrived on time and worked HARD the entire time. I learned how much energy it takes to cut down a tree and also remove miles of vines from a 30-ft tree! We had to schedule a day for them to return which was easily accomplished and they returned and finished the job. Between days they cleaned up. Before they left they cleaned up my backyard, and also my neighbor's yard where some branches fell. The workers were polite, accommodating and nice! read more

Bay View Tree Service is great -- I highly recommend them. They have done two jobs for us: one a fairly simple hedge trimming (beautifully done) the other involved a very complicated tree removal, deadwooding two other trees, and removing a small dead tree. Duncan spent the day in the air, removing a 50' Monterey Cypress wedged in the corner of our lot, which overhang three neighbors' properties. We watched with amazement as the crew worked together in good spirits the entire day -- impressive! And they left our (and our neighbors') properties immaculate. read more

I really didn't want to write this review. I tried to settle it with Mike (owner of Bay View Tree Service). But I was left with no option. I met with Mike in September to talk about trimming our tree-not just any tree but the tree right in the front of our home. He explained that he is an arborist and when I expressed my concerns, he explained that the tree " talks" to him and tells him how it wants to be trimmed. Call me stupid, but I fell for it. I scheduled a tree trim for about a month later (a few weeks ago). Mike might be an arborist, but what he neglects to tell you is that he only takes the order. He doesn't show up for the job. He sends his crew, who are "working" on becoming arborists. My huge mistake was trusting Mike so much that I trusted his crew. I'll spare the details, but our tree was massacred by his crew. You can't glue branches back on so we are stuck with it. I have a shade loving garden which is now bathed in bright sun much of the day. I stopped payment on the check because I paid for an arborist to oversee the trimming of our tree, but he did not show up or give me a chance to reschedule so he could be there. The type of tree we have was trimmed completely incorrectly according to the arborist at the local botannical gardens. We can only hope it recovers. So Mike came over a week following the trim because we were so unhappy with the job. He said he understood why we were unhappy and was willing to provide us with a 6' tree to fill in a gap that was left by his crew to provide some shade for our garden. I have contacted him 3 times to get a delivery date for this tree and he doesn't reply. So now we are stuck with an awful job on our tree and a shade garden that I have to purchase my own tree to protect. Yes, he is an arborist but you can't count on him showing up to supervise the job. I tried numerous times to contact you, Mike, and you didn't bother replying. read more

Mike and his crew did exceptional work for us, removing three large trees and doing some additional trimming. The price was very reasonable, the work was done quickly and with minimal disruption to our lives, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. But it goes well beyond that: We aded to the work that was in the original estimate, including one of the trees, and we even asked for some additional trimming on the day the work was done, and Mike and crew willingly took on the additional work, with cost increases that were consistently reasonable. The crowning touch was that Mike crafted a beautiful bench for us, milling a board cut from the trunk of one of the trees and insetting it into the stumps of two adjacent cedars that had been removed. His original estimate included leaving the stumps and milling a board from the trunk, but my husband had expected to assemble the bench himself. Had he done so, it would never have looked as amazing as what Mike created. These are true professionals, who take obvious pride in their work. We cannot recommend them enough! read more
