We had Jose from Vega's Tree Service out to look at some dying hedges and chose to have them plant replacements. Jose and his crew did a good job. Based on that job, we had Jose come back to price planting of sago palms and trimming trees/bushes/hedges. His price sounded good so we scheduled a one-day job for the work. On the scheduled Tuesday, a crew of three arrived (but not Jose to lead the work). We had to explain to the lead what we wanted done (same as we had explained to Jose before). The lead did not appear to understand us completely. The lead even FaceTimed with Jose for clarification. Apparently, that didn't make it any clearer for the lead...as evidenced by the crew's work. During the first three hours, the crew only managed to plant the sago palms...half of them planted too deep in depressions. They ran out of soil. The lead found a bag on my property and asked if they could use it. After I told him no, he used it anyway and said he misunderstood me. One guy also had to leave to buy more soil for the sagos. After I complained to Jose, the crew provided a replacement bag of soil. The crew trimmed the palm trees and hedges ok. They, however, botched the rest of their work. They butchered the bushes, fruit trees and other trees. They only completed about have the work and didn't cleanup at the end of their day...saying they'd be back on Friday. We feel it is unacceptable for them to have left the job site in such a state...even if they planned to return. The crew also broke a yard lantern. Not sure if we can get a replacement. We cancelled their Friday return and only paid them for the work completed. We are not satisfied with either the partial job done or the price charged for that partial job. It's crap. Vega Tree Service clearly had a more important job elsewhere and sent an inexperienced/subpar lead and crew to do our job. Poor customer service. We will not be using Vega's Tree Service again. We also cannot recommend them to other customers. read more

Very responsive and easy to work with, we got a quote for pruning of the Cinamomum street tree in front of our house. It was reasonable, we said yes, and had it pruned up in a week. It looks great! The removed all the dead branches and reduced the size of the canopy very thoughtfully. It's thin now but will grow back in really nicely. Hoping for slightly less tree litter all over the sidewalk and in our yard for a bit! The first time we used Vega's they did a great job. The second time we used them they cut the top of our Acacia tree off. We also asked that one palm be cut and the stump left, which it was, but another type of palm was cut and the stump was also left when we specifically asked for it to be removed. My mistake was not noticing it said to not grind both. The real disappointment is the Acacia, which looks absolutely strange and terrible. When I explained the situation to Jose, he said "I guess they made a mistake, nothing I can do about it now". I'm so disappointed and have no idea how and if the tree will grow back. He also kept interrupting me which made me feel I had nothing important to say. He finally said to call him in a year and they'd trim it for free. I'll be calling someone else. Not only did Jose come to our house to give us an inspection and estimate he actually went to our neighbor's house to check in w/them about their needs and expectations and to make sure that they would be home the next while the tree-trimming took place. I had 3 trees trimmed. They quoted. me one price. They came with laser and pointed at different branches. We talked about making sure the trees weren't over the neighbors house either. Jose the one who quote said no problem. When they were working my neighbors asked them to trim one over her drive way and she paid extra for that. They told her it was $300 for the one Jose already agreed to trim. She wasn't going to pay and with only one half of it trimmed it looked terrible and if it was going to fall over. I told her of my agreement and went to the guy working, Santiago and told him it was suppose to be included and he trimmed it. Then they told my neighbor she had to pay. This is the second time that Vega's Tree Service has come out to take down trees on our property. The first time they did great job, and this time around they did as well. They're definitely our tree company now. The first job was the removal of several Italian cypresses and grinding out palm tree stumps. This time we had them remove a fig tree that was too close to our home and two vine stumps that kept sprouting new vines (we had tried to remove the vine stumps but they were beasts). Thrilled hired them to remove my trees! This positive review is overdue by a few months. Back in January, I hired Jose and his team to take down several large trees and remove their stumps. They did a fantastic job! I had 7 tall Cypress each about 50-80 feet tall along my back property line. However, they had become diseased with a canker. So were somewhat structurally weakening. Plus, worried about them maybe falling down whenever we had a heavy rain with the ground being saturated or strong winds given they were so tall. My yard is pretty small; this is very typical in my neighborhood. So the trees were relatively close to both my house and my immediate neighbors too. If ever one of trees were ever to fall, it could easily damage our homes. Anyway, I was so glad found Vega's! A neighbor down the block was having their tree removed and I saw the truck. So spoke with Jose. He agreed to came by my place to give me a verbal quote - no pressure. I liked him and the quote seemed fair. So booked an appt. The day of their appt it actually rained quite a bit. But they still showed up and worked! I was really impressed with their professionalism. The crew seemed to work really well together too. That is important with all the machinery and skill involved to take down such large trees. They were so thorough too. Not only did they remove the trees and stumps, but the crew also spent quite a bit of time cleaning up my yard - and even my immediate neighbors' yards too - afterwards. So was thrilled with their actual work. No funny business either with them changing the quote afterwards - the final price remained consistent with the original quote. So they have good business ethics. They removed a jacaranda stump in a tight spot and an enormous yucca and stump by hand because it was in a tight spot near utilities. The yucca was a houseplant I never should have put in the ground because it quickly became a monster. There are many different species of Yucca that make nice landscape focal points but this one that's sold as a houseplant-don't put it in the ground! It was 450 to remove a 15 foot tall holly tree with a 2 foot diameter. They showed up a little early and were done in an hour.
