I wouldnt say acai bowls are my thing but it seems like they are the trend these days. This store is clean and has a lot of great options if you are interested in this type of food. I ordered the banana, strawberry, coconut, nutella, acai bowl and it was very good. The reason it is not my thing is that the acai is cold and the fruit is room temperature so my teeth get sensitive to the change in temperature. Overall the bowl was well made and customer service was great. The portions I think could be a little bit bigger and it is pretty pricey for a bowl. Other than that...No complaints...it is just that this isnt my favorite food and for that price I should be blown away. read more

The acai bowls are awesome. They are the closest to the ones I love in warmer climates (Miami, Southern California, Hawaii, etc.). On my first visit, I ordered the Pacific Beach (blended acai topped with strawberry, blueberry, granola and coconut shavings). The acai is the perfect chilled temperature. I got a brain freeze when I tried to eat it too quick. The fruit was very fresh. The granola was very good. In my opinion, the key to a great acai bowl is honey on top. It is an ingredient I often see missing from a lot of bowls in New York. I was thrilled to taste a delicious honey to top of the bowl. On my second visit, I tried the Bella Nutella (blended acai topped with banana, strawberry, granola, coconut shaving and nutella). It was good but I preferred the honey on top of the Pacific Beach over the nutella on the Bella Nutella. I love nutella but I could barely taste it when I ate it with the other ingredients in the bowl. Best. Açaí. Bowl. Ever. That being said, the customer service was kind and polite, yet not enthusiastic to help. The seemingly lazy lackluster energy could've been due to the slow demand for the time of day (around 2-3 PM) or the inclement weather, with the rain pouring all day. I felt semi-awkward waiting for someone to hand me my takeout [of the açaí bowl.] Additionally, their "shots" are not mentioned in the menu (I was told they are limited to wheatgrass and ginger shots.) I wanted both to jumpstart me into the açaí bowl. After I was already charged, I was told that they're "out" of the wheatgrass shot. Its the lack of organization and communication between front desk and other employees which caused this mishap. Now, back to the açaí bowl- which I can only presume was prepared a few minutes before my arrival, yet was not handed over to me in any haste, but only after I'd been standing and waiting by the counter for a few minutes. The BOWL ITSELF was perfectly immaculate in each and every single way. I ordered the "Pacific Beach" and was surprised to see (for the next half hour or so) how the bowl didn't melt within seconds, as per usual. The ingredients are fresh and the masterful craftsmanship of the açaí bowl here allows for this rich consistency, allowing you to consume at your own pace. I was really excited to try this place out. Thankfully, I was not let down. The exterior is really cute and so is the interior. You can see all the fruit in the back. I placed my order and they made the bowl very quickly. Even though it was made quick, it didn't look messy. I ordered the Coco Nutella and let me tell you, it was delicious. And also filling! The only cons I can think of are the limited seating and the lack of air conditioner. There is a small, long table in the back with several stools but that's it. I want to love this place, really I do. They have an amazing product, good tasting, healthy and fun. However, the staff are like a bunch of sloths absolutely surprised that they are at work. Sometimes it can take up to 45 minutes for a simple order to be made. Then the staff are unable to grasp any changes to orders, they aren't friendly and will hold up a prepaid order for less than $2.00, because the order has to be paid in full. So, I paid $45.00 for an order 30 minutes prior, get there and they hadn't even started it! Then the guy behind the counter cops a total attitude. 4/5 employees behind the counter just talking while a $45.00 order isn't even on the radar. I hope some competition creeps in and forces this place to care about the customers who are supporting them. Please get it together, so I can change my review to 5 starts. read more

This place has been a long time favorite of mine. I have had many (and I stress the word many) açaí bowls but I have never found a place that makes them quite like Baya Bar. My favorite is the bella Nutella and I always add extra Nutella because... let's face it... Nutella is the best thing in the world. My bf loves the pacific beach and he adds chia seeds. They also have smoothies and juices. It was really a cute little place, not a lot of seating but more of a on the go spot. The bowl I had was really tasty but I felt it was so frozen it was hard to eat. I had to wait till it melted a little then it tasted better. Came in, got 2 custom smoothies. One of them had a wrong ingredient (was my fault, shoulda checked the receipt) but I was totally ok with the switch. Got the smoothie, composition looks interesting; I taste it- it's 3/4 ice and the rest is the ingredients I asked for. You couldn't even taste the scoop of protein that I asked for. For almost $9, no one should be getting that. But here's the best part- when they called my name for the 2nd smoothie, the guy says "who got the custom smoothie?" And another person also got a custom smoothie and when we asked what was in it, homeboy replied "I don't know, but it had a bunch of stuff in it-like the weird one."
