Magical Train Ride Adventure!…read more We absolutely loved our experience on the historic Hawaiian Railway -- such a unique and beautiful way to explore Oahu's west side! From start to finish it was pure aloha vibes and family fun! Prices: Standard train ride tickets were around $18 for adults and $13 for kids (ages 2-12) (kids under 2 are free!), and we felt it was worth every penny for the experience and memories! Parking & Arrival: There's plenty of free parking right at the train station, which made arriving super easy and stress-free. We got there a little early to soak in the atmosphere before departure! Hours & Tour Times: The train runs on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with departures like 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM, plus a couple of other times depending on the day -- perfect for planning your afternoon. Length & Route: The whole ride is about 90 minutes round-trip, slowly chugging through scenic parts of Oahu's Leeward coast with beautiful views of the ocean and mountains. The narration from the guide made the ride even more interesting! Stops & Fun: One of the best parts was the ice cream stop in Ko Olina -- we all hopped off for a cool treat at a little plaza and waved to neighbors along the way! Photo Ops Everywhere: There were so many spots perfect for photos -- seaside views, cute vintage train cars, and open-air seating made for great candid shots! Plus, we barely saw anyone else there during our ride, so it felt like we had the whole adventure to ourselves. Tips: * Arrive early to grab good seats and explore the train yard * Bring a camera (or phone!) -- the scenery is AMAZING * Don't forget a little extra cash for ice cream! Overall: This was one of our favorite experiences on Oahu -- kid-friendly, super scenic, and just plain fun. We're already talking about going back again next time!

The advertised ice cream stop is just a stop at a local shopping plaza, where you're directed to buy ice cream from the ABC Store. It didn't feel like a special attraction at all. If you're expecting scenic ocean views, temper your expectations. We only caught two brief glimpses of the water. The majority of the ride passes through overgrown brush, a shopping cart graveyard, and several homeless encampments. Overall, it felt like a waste of both our time and money. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it, especially for families with young children.

A wonderful volunteer organization!…read more Check the website because each day of the week they typically are routine with the location and time frames for cleanups. It isn't only cleanups, they handle restoration and land management by preservation, teaching, and so much more. Kimeona and his team are well versed and well organized in what they are doing. They have equipment so when you arrive, after you fill out the documents online, you are ready to go. Of course prepare by getting a good meal in you, staying hydrated, bring water (they also supply water but bring your reusable water bottle), comfortable clothes and shoes, and be prepared to "give back"! I love learning history and culture and the oli and taking care of the Aina. I don't want to give away too much, but at the same time I want to share everything. I have been volunteering with this team, mostly at the same place, although I met up at Magic Island and it needed, for a couple of years. My takeaways, it's personal for me.

I was reminded that "people" were the last thing that came to the islands. That means everything…read moreneeds to be respected. When people come visit Hawaii, they think about the beaches, food, partying, etc... People don't think about the impact it has on the ecology. We decided to pay our respect to the land that we enjoyed by helping clean it. This organization was more about teaching what is around us versus just picking up garbage. We first removed evasive trees along the river. The cool thing was that we moved the branches to a different area that feeds certain Beatles. Then months after the tress/branches were stepped on and crushed to be part of the earth. After about an hour and half of work we took a little environmental tour to learn of the necessary ecological balance needed for the islands. We saw the last type of a certain succulent, we saw endangered shrubs, and Hawaiian bees that are also endangered. We go to Hawaii and take, this time we gave back

Impulsive retail therapy eventually does have some consequences and though I do still have difficulty parting with many items that bring me joy it doesn't mean that it will give others joy as well. Savers is here for one of the reasons and knowing that it's going to a good cause does makes me feel better especially as many do shop here for various reasons finding that items does makes it all worth while. They also give you a discount coupon for your donation to which you can shop and find items at an even greater deal with that coupon so it's a win win situation...and yes I do shop and have found items here as well so don't think that you won't it just takes a bit of search and you never know what you'll find. As a second year grad student, this was my first offsite team building event that I attended. Travel2Change is a non-profit organization that offers various activities focused on sustainability and giving back to the Hawaiian culture on the islands of Kauai, Maui, and O'ahu. From a beach clean-up followed by a sunset yoga class, to a trek into the native forest to protect indigenous wildlife, there's an activity to fit your passions! Just visit their website to explore. On Saturday's from 10:30am to 12:00pm, Jonathan from Yoga Loves Mana hosts the beach clean-up and yoga. He provided the bags and gloves for the clean-up. In 15 minutes, we collected four bags of litter from the grassy area and shoreline between the Aquarium to the lifeguard house just beyond the barefoot beach cafe. This was a great way to give back, keep paradise beautiful, and to show others the spirit of Aloha Āina! After the clean-up, we did an hour of Vinyasa style yoga in the shaded grassy area underneath the swaying palm trees and were sprinkled with a little bit of rain every now and then (it felt really good!). Jonathan has 15 years of experience and his teaching skills were kind and gentle for a few of us beginners. He made it very clear that the session was about the spiritual energy you feel from your core and put back into the universe, known as "Mana", and to not worry if you're inexperienced. We all felt very comfortable and he did a wonderful job guiding us on breathing techniques and stretching throughout the hour. Check out their website to see what they offer. Once you park, they have some large bins you can roll out to your car to unload your e-waste. Roll it inside and drop it off. Easy as that. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Don't use HMSA. It has been the worst insurance company I've dealt with in Hawaii…read more Customer service was consistently poor--representatives were often rude, and resolving even simple issues took far longer than it should have. The biggest issue was that our group policy was canceled for non-payment after HMSA changed its autopay system. We had been enrolled in autopay, but after the system migration the payments stopped processing. Instead of working with us to resolve a problem that stemmed from their own system changes, they canceled our coverage and then wanted to charge nearly $1,000 in fees to reinstate the policy. The entire experience was frustrating, stressful, and completely avoidable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend HMSA.
