This is tough...I've have good experiences will all providers at this location over that past 4 yrs, for my 90 yr old mother. BUT, the front desk? Nope. I have called to speak with them, get the call center, leave a message, and then IF/when a call comes back I don't see it until I miss it. (That's my bad cell service at my home) SO I call back, ask for a direct #. They won't give it to me. That 3rd time I called, I explained my situation and the service rep offered to call the office for me...I waited on hold for her to try to get through TWICE! They never answered! They make it clear when u call, they want you to use the app and I do most of the time.But for goodness sake?!?! I needed to speak with a person about a timely issue and apparently there are none there to answer the phones. read more

I understood that my appointment had an arrival time of 9:45 for a 10am appointment today on 9/14,but I cannot account for the heavy rains and traffic in my area!!! I walked in at 10:02 and Melissa was checking me in. She said she would have to ask the practice manager if she could let me in and then I was telling her the situation about how I drove a far away just to be at this location and that I cannot account for the rain. Melissa literally has no sympathy and she didn't even turn around to ask the branch manager so I don't know if she was typing on her computer or what but literally 2 minutes at 10:02!! From the time it takes to park the small parking lot to walk in! Based on that alone and how frustrated I am, I will not be coming to this practice to reschedule. I will find somebody else who understands that nature is not one person's fault for 2 minutes late! At that point Melissa was literally just typing and got me to sign something and then told me the next available time which would be the 21st at 8 am. I said cancel because I'm just here today and tomorrow! Beware if you're 2 minutes late and it rains! There's no sympathy in this office! None of her other co-workers that were listening around the situation would even turn around to help! This office is cold. There's no "bedside manner"! Again,I CANNOT ACCOUNT FOR THE HEAVY RAIN IN MY AREA!!!!!!!! IT WAS 2 MINUTES!!!! If you want to be apart of a cash grab this is the place for you. All they care about is making money and finding the next up-charge they can bill you for. For many years I would go to other primary care once a year but somehow since starting here appointments every 6 months are required in order to refill my prescription and they will keep your medication hostage unless you meet the 6 month requirement. So I caved in and made an appointment for a physical and confirmed if this would fulfill the requirement for my medication for at least 6 months. Their reply was that asking about absolutely anything else including medications would turn it into an office visit that I'd be charged for additionally. Even though a physical would include the same exact labs to be done and would not change the less than five minute conversation with the doctor. read more

Dr said lower stomach pain was anxiety from not sleeping at night. Terrible doctor as would not listen to my requests for testing. Waisted money and will never return. Takes the easy way out for diagnosis and doesnt even try and do anything for the patients. read more

I do not say this lightly; I do not like the doctor's office. I do food reviews on Yelp so it says a lot that I care enough to put a review of a doctor's office. This has been the best experience I have had in my entire 24 years of life. From the lady at check in, nurse, bloodwork, doctor, check out - every single person was kind, gentle, and caring. I've been looking for a primary care doctor that made me feel heard, cared for, and human rather than just another annoying appointment they needed out of the office within 5 minutes. Very difficult to deal with the BSW system. They don't return calls, hold your medical records hostage, and bill for services not rendered. I took my daughter for a well visit and to establish care and they tried to bill me for a "problem visit" just because the doctor asked if she had any history of sleep issues and she said that sometimes he has trouble falling asleep. This was part of the interview to establish care...NOT a problem that she was seeking help for! And yet Dr Thrall coded it as a problem visit that would be a charge (without letting us know)! This is completely inappropriate and unprofessional standards of practice! Other issues...if you are sick, they cannot get you in for at least a week. I am a doctor myself and I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

This BSW office is not customer oriented. They are terrible at communication or patient care. They can never get you in at a reasonable time frame which results in urgent care visits. They constantly want you to come in for in person visits when medication can be refilled or prescribed over the phone based on chronic medical history. Worst experience. Front desk Melissa says that my appointment is at 8:15am and I arrived at 8:13am so she cannot take me in and asked me to either reschedule or cancel my appointment. Ridiculous behavior. She is not helping the patients at all, rather she is causing pain and frustration and inconvenience to the patients. Who will be willing to visit such place again. Pass on this place. I've been a BSW PCP customer at the Star for many years. After moving further north, I thought I'd switch to the office that's closer to home. Not sure what's the problem, I've never had any issues or hassles with routine maintenance prescriptions that I have been on for years, until going there. this place doesn't deserve one star. i made an appointment online and was told that my insurance would be taken - TriCare. i walk in and then they tell me that they can't take my insurance, said the appointment will be $200-300 FOR ONE (1) VISIT and then they look at me like i'm crazy. i can't afford that first of all, secondly i'm extremely sick and have been sick for over a week and they did not want to help me in any way. i'd rather just go to the baylor scott and white emergency room that actually takes my insurance. don't waste your time here. read more

If I could give this office a minus a zero or minus I would. One of the least caring, involved practices we have ever been involved with. They not only messed up my husband's lab work, but failed to realize the urgency after an ultrasound diagnosis of a 4.2 cm mass on his pancreas. No one from the office thought it was important enough to even call and just posted those results on the patient portal. It was only after I called and insisted that we could not wait an additional week for a CT scan that they were able to get Touchstone imaging to see him sooner. After that scan the office manager, not Dr. Overn, called and told me to get him in the car immediately and rush him to the closest Baylor hospital, that he had a vessel that could rupture at any time. He is having surgery today for a pancreatic aneurysm, fortunately it did not rupture as recovery rate in that case is very low. read more

I'm not rating this place as it doesn't deserve even 1 star. My PCP Dr. OVern referred me to several specialists in other fields to diagnose my problem only to disregard their diagnosis. Curiously my dermatologist reviewed this place. EVERY time I go here I have to give my Dr a full hour long synopsis of previous discussions and he comes up with different conclusions each time. 1st he referred me to a dermatologist, then he referred me to a psychiatrist, and now he is referring me to another psychiatrist. He doesn't actually listen to you, he just figures out what he wants to sell you and then refers away. All the while wasting my money and probably getting paid for referrals. I will not be going back to him for sure. read more

I rarely write reviews (and aim to give the benefit of the doubt). That said, my experience at this office was really frustrating. I needed a new PCP and my cardiologist recommended Dr. Marc G. Bauer. I scheduled an appointment for an annual physical. I arrived early and with all paperwork filled out. I also had a list of additional items, questions and medical issues to discuss. When doing intake with the nurse, I brought some of this up. She informed me that "this is just a wellness check, we will NOT be addressing any medical issues at this appointment." What is the point of an annual physical if not to discuss potential medical problems with your GP (and work on a plan for them)??? The nurse then assembled my paperwork and said the doctor would be in shortly. About 15-20 minutes later, the receptionist comes in the exam room and tells me "Dr. Bauer says you have a complicated case. You need an internal medicine doctor and not him." A bit frustrated now, I asked for a referral. No problem, if that's not him, who is it?!? She said they couldn't provide ANY referrals. Instead, I'd have to call a generic Baylor 1800 number. WTH? For a supposedly "hometown" doctor, this was really impersonal and frustrating. I want to forge a working relationship with my doctors, not be a cog in the system. We wanted to take our whole family to this practice. Icing on the cake - the appointment started late despite my arriving early. I wasn't frustrated by this until the end result. Overall, the doctor NEVER came in and explained anything. No apology, no personal explanation, no personal help whatsoever. I understand covid changes procedures but he could have at least helped guide me with more than an 800 number. Moreover, they had my medical history in the Baylor system so they could have told me their conclusion LONG before my appointment. This causes me to question the Baylor system overall. Instead of finding a new GP, I wasted several hours of time and was essentially "shown the door" by staff. What a waste. read more

Extremely disappointed in customer care. My husband and I have been going to Dr. Overn for a few years now. I was prescribed Lexapro soon after the birth of my second child. Due to my anxiety and depression that I've managed my whole adult life (since age 16) I've been on it ever sense. It took about 6 months to find the correct dose for me and I've had zero issues refilling my prescription since. I have now been trying to refill my prescription for 2 weeks and not one person in the office has informed me that I needed to come in and see the Dr. to get my refill. After multiple back and forth between my pharmacy (Kroger) and the office I had to find out from a pharmacy tech that the doctor wanted to see me before refilling my prescription. So now here I am almost a week without my prescription which if you know anything about antidepressants and anxiety medication, you're not supposed to just stop taking it. I have felt absolutely terrible and completely off for 5 of the 6 days without it. Called first thing to make an appointment today to find out that I can't get in until next Thursday. The women who scheduled my appointment transferred me to see if I could get medication until my appointment (which I've done this already and it was marked priority and then denied). The lack of patient care from Dr. Overn and this office staff is extremely disappointing. Plan on making it to my appointment just to make him and their office staff aware that they have lost our business. read more

The front desk and the techs was extremely courteous. This was my first time at this location. I was trying to establish care with a new PCP. The physician did show genuine interest in my medical conditions. Did not even ask for the big records folder that I prepared for her. Not sure if the physician was having a bad day or maybe I picked up the wrong physician. No wonder this clinic is not that busy. read more

This place is horrible. I called my network for a physical appointment. They had many same day openings. I was greeted by the receptionist to whom Imade clear that I was there for a physical. Told the medical assistant I was there for a physical. The doctor came in , I told him:I was there for a physical exam, he said that was a broad term. Is there anything specific bothering you. I said since I have had my last child I have been suffering from depression and joint issues. He said let me check you. He checked. I said I also need to talk about my Pap smear and contraceptive ( he gave a obgyn's card), sent his assistant in to draw blood. Did not tell me what exactly he was drawing 3 tubes for. Told me to go for xrays. At checkout, the billing lady rudely says expect a bill. I said I am here for a physical. She said. No you were here for a problem. I asked her to ask the medical assistant. She said it was a problem. The receptionist said yes you came in for a physical. Then the medical assistant jumps on the conversation and says with the rudest tone and attitude: No you have a problem. I called the office manager left a message , she called me back not willing to listen and said if the doctor says it is a problem ;it's a problem. They had me blindly sign two signatures electronically in the begging ( regretting that now). I told the office manager that I wasn't not ready for a deductible if I had known I would have waited until I was ready ( financially) . She laughed at me and said you just said you didn't have money. They are all saying that I went there for my back that hurts occasionally from Having 3 babies. Anyway, I don't suggest that you go there without knowing that you need to be protected. I would give no stars but the system is not allowing me. Never felt humiliated like today. Ps: I had them cancel all the blood work and the ibuprofen sent to CVS. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Overn for many years. Since he sold out to Baylor Scott and White their billing practices have gone way down hill. My insurance offers one Physical every year at 100 percent paid by insurance. This includes all preventive lab blood work. For the last couple of years Dr. Overn's office has refused to file the lab work correctly under "preventive care" instead they file it under general lab work in which I receive a co insurance bill. I have tried to resolve this issue but they refuse to admit any wrong doing. I am done with Baylor Scott and White and will have to find another PCP out of the Baylor Network ..one that knows how to bill correctly. It's a shame they lose a dedicated patient over issues they can fix but choose not too. read more

I went in to schedule an appointment with Dr Bauer as a new patient. Was told by my Cigna that they would except my ins. When i walked in I was treated by 2 older very unfriendly ladies. I gave her my Cigna ins card and she looke at it and I guess saw my age 65 and said the doctor is not taking any Medicare patience!, I told here that I have ins thru my work and only have Medicare A. I have never used Medicare and i believe because I am 65 she refused to help me. Very disappointed... read more

I have been having a issue with a bad cough. I get the same symptoms often during the winter months. It is usually diagnosed as bronchitis. All my symptoms are the same as before. Background on me. I'm 65 years old. Have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart issues and am overweight. I went to my doctor to verify if what I was experiencing was indeed bronchitis. Mostly because my bronchitis has a tendency to turn into pneumonia. When I got to my Dr. Office I had to stay in my car to notify them I had arrived. They checked me in via phone and then had me do a FaceTime with the doctor. They told me I would have to take a COVID test. They then had me walk around the building, sit on a picnic bench to wait for a medical tech to come. Mind you I'm an elderly woman, feeling sick and I'm asked to sit out in the cold, windy, drizzly rain waiting. A med tech in full plastic gear, from head to toe shows up to proceed to undergo a COVID test in the presents of anyone in the parking lot who wants to watch what I am being subjected to. So much for my Hipaa rights to privacy. I was diagnosed with COVID. At no time did a Dr. ever physically check my vitals or lungs to see if I might be in danger of heading toward pneumonia. I was prescribed meds for the COVID but was told to take over the counter Mucinex for my other problem. When I complained to the office manager about the humiliation that I had experienced her response was, sorry but that is how we do it. You could have refused the test. Never addressing my concerns about not having a doctor doing a hands on exam for other issues. A week later I received a letter from Baylor Scott and White Prosper informing me I am no longer their patient. Because I said I would not let them ever treat me on a park bench in the parking lot. So during my Covid I am left without a doctor. So much for the concern of this office for its patients that are at high risk. I was so impressed with this facility once Dr Marc Bauer came aboard. Needless to say, after (3) attempts to walk in and be told they do not accept walk-ins, I must pose the question, " Do I need to schedule to be sick"? I am beginning to believe the answer is YES. How dare you even think of walking into a clinic that has your medical records and has been your Dr for years without first planning on being sick in order to get an appointment, only to be told there are none available? For starters I showed up early and the first time I called to check in I was told my nurse was unavailable because she was still out for lunch. Okay fine. So I waited and 10 minutes after my appointment, called to check in again and this time the woman who put me on hold did so in order to eat a burrito. And then her taco bell was apparently so amazing she forgot about me so I walked in. When I finally did see Overn he made no mention of losing weight, didn't order labs for my cholesterol or anything else a reasonable person might expect for my issue. He blew me off, prescribed me the equivalent of a bandaid for a hemophiliac and told me it was all in my head. He could not get me out of his office fast enough, it took months for me to accept that I even needed to see a doctor and they blew it before I even walked in the door. Afterwards my visit paperwork listed symptoms I didn't have, have never had and certainly didn't come in for. And to top all of that off, the rx he gave me exacerbated my problems. read more

My experience here was very disappointing. While I was excited about finding a Baylor Family location very close to my home, the first experience there was very disappointing. As soon as I walked in the door, they asked me to put a mask on, even though I thought I may have had a sinus infection, but wasn't sure. The next person behind me refused to put it on and apparently they were having similar symptoms. I understand with the flu epidemic going on the concern, but if you are going to enforce this, then be firm with everyone. But here is how my debacle began with them: On Friday, 1/26/2018, I called to schedule an appointment with them and initially the scheduler gave me one time (which was10:40 am) today. By the time we agreed to that appointment time, she verbally stated when scheduling, that the time of my appointment would be 10:50 am. I remembered being confused by her statement and confirming again with her the time of 10:50 am Monday, because I thought it was odd that she initially said the 10:40 am appointment time. She confirmed again it was 10:50 am. Being that I work, I always make sure to place the time on my calendar right away. I get to my appointment for the time given - 10:50 am. I was asked to do new paperwork, even though I have been a long time patient at the Baylor Family Healthcare system. While completing my paperwork, I was called up and told that they were not going to be able to see me because my appointment was at 10:40 am. I tried explaining to the young lady that "NO, that is not correct", they clearly changed my appointment from the initial time they gave me (10:40 am) to 10:50 am, and I even confirmed that with the scheduler. I told them that it was there mistake and not mine and I felt like they should have seen me because they clearly made the mistake. Even after talking to the manager and letting them know how the scheduler changed the time on me, she refused to take me at MY scheduled time that THEY gave me. They wanted me to reschedule for later today or another time. I am not the type who will be late for an appointment and if I am, I will call to let someone know. My time is just as valuable as their time. They refused to see me after they made the scheduling error. I was very disappointed to have a first experience like this. I have been a long time patient with the Baylor Family Healthcare system and I have NEVER been treated like this. VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. read more
