Backyard deck looking over Lake Michigan
    Jeff B.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. From check-in to check-out, our hosts (Daniel and Allison) were friendly, gracious and professional. Our room (with a view) was perfect for our needs, clean and had everything we needed for pleasant weekend stay - we took advantage of the private elevated deck to enjoy the view of Lake Michigan morning and evening. This is a bed and breakfast - the morning food service was very good, lots of options and generous portions. Throughout the day, snacks and refreshments were available. The inn is located a short walk from Lions Beach and just over a mile walk into downtown St. Joseph. There you have access to the main beach, shopping and dining.

The back patio. Nice Lake Michigan views.

Daniel and his wife were super friendly and accommodating. The Inn is cute and has a beautiful backyard area where you can see the Lake perfectly. The sunsets are amazing from the back of the Inn too. The South Cliff in is not far from downtown St. Joseph. We will be back in the future!

    My view of Lake Michigan

Fantastic. Wonderful get away. So relaxing. Great room. Highly recommended. Nicest proprietors. Great breakfast. Nice wine & charcuterie too.

Yearning for a vacation and break from the city life of Chicago, my partner and I decided on taking a long weekend trip to St. Joseph. Once St. Joe's was decided on, we were in search of somewhere to stay. We stumbled upon this Inn and the rest is history. We arrived at promptly 3pm EST and were greeted by one of the hosts, Will, who was kind, funny, and welcoming. We opted for one of the cheaper rooms, which did the trick. Next time we may splurge on a lakeview room, but honestly all of the available outdoor (and indoor) lakefront seating made up for what our room was lacking. The biggest selling point of this Inn vs others in the area is the outdoor space directly overlooking Lake Michigan. The space is picturesque with beautifully maintained landscaping. It feels like you are in a magical garden vs someone's back patio. With lots of seating available to guests, there is never a time when you have to "fight" for a spot. The lake front views are beautiful and breathtaking all day long, but particularly in the early morning enjoying a cup of coffee (provided by Inn) or at night enjoying a glass of wine at sunset. The Inn itself, while on the older side, and could stand for some updates, is cozy and quaint. The imperfections of the Inn make it what it is. You feel more at home here than you would in a sterile hotel. The home is clean with cute "lake decor" which makes you feel welcome. And finally, the breakfast part of the b&b... how could we forget. Every morning Will cooked up a tasty spread of homemade delights for Inn guests to enjoy. While we were there, a sweet and savory casserole, sausage links, bread, and fruit were offered to guests which could be enjoyed lakefront or inside. This meal was a great way each day to start our day. Overall, our time in St. Joseph was great, but staying at this Inn made it wonderful. Having a "home base" as comfortable and relaxing as South Cliff made all the difference. Not to mention the proximity to all the main attractions (downtown 3 min drive, 15 min walk to beach, wineries 20 mins away). Everything about this Inn exceeded our expectations. We look forward to visiting again in the fall or spring and taking advantage of the fire pits & hot tub! Thank you South Cliff Inn for making our stay one of a kind.

We loved the South Cliff Inn. The owners Daniel and Allison were amazing hosts and greeted us with snacks and drinks as soon as we arrived. The room was immaculate and the views were even better. We stayed in the Study Room and it was worth the extra money for the amenities. Definitely stay at the South Cliff Inn on your next visit to St Joseph.

The front of the house.. can easily be passed up while driving.

Very welcoming Bed N Breakfast! Wilfredo the owner was very friendly and accommodating. The home is very clean with a welcoming atmosphere! Breakfast is good, an casserole was made both days once with veggies and the next day with eggs and meat. Wilfredo will accommodate you if your not a meat eater. Delicious fresh coffee made every morning beats the coffee Keurig cups that's in the rooms. The location is great, close to restaurants and grocery stores. Felt safe and comfortable and also felt at home. The showers has a Prefilled dispenser of shampoo etc... so bring your own if your picky like me. The rooms are outdated but clean which is a good thing. Will come back again.

One of many decks to enjoy the view and incredible sunsets!

My family of five just returned from a lovely stay at the South Cliff Inn! We stayed in two rooms, one of which faced the lake. The morning and sunrise views of the lake were beautiful! We enjoyed several sunsets from our private deck or the hot tub.  Wilfredo the owner made excellent breakfasts every day. Each day there was a perfect mix of sweet and savory options. Very special attention was given to sanitizing and masking. We felt very safe! One night we had dinner on the deck and Wil surprise us with a beautiful cake for our daughter. He really went above and beyond to make this a great vacation.  The garden is beautifully landscaped and you can occasionally see and pet Frank - a giant but incredibly sweet cat. :) Lions beach is walking distance. Silver Beach and a cute downtown are a few minute drive away.  Overall loved the charm and location of this B&B and we can't wait to return!

Enjoying the Beautiful sunset on the patio Perfect BnB clean, friendly, great breakfast to start the day

What an awesome stay the views from the patio area were amazing the hosts some of the most friendly people I've ever met. God bless their family and hope to come back for a visit

Backyard patio with hot tub and chairs to lounge and eat.

This place was really great in both hospitality and location. Two beaches are nearby which makes it nice to have variety in which one you end up wanting to go to. The owners are very friendly and will accommodate to requests within reason and have recently fixed their hot tub outside so the yard is even more enjoyable with the views and the size. Kids are allowed to stay when placing a reservation and there's parking available out front.

Amazing B&B, our room was beautiful and the view was stunning, the breakfast was delicious both mornings of our stay. The owners are delightful and so welcoming. It was a perfect weekend getaway in a charming city

Love this place... owners are awesome. You feel at home. Views are amazing and only 1 mile from town. The only issue it is on a main road so you do hear road noise... but the views make up for it.

    Sunset off of deck!

Andy & Nita are fantastic hosts. We arrived and were greeted by Andy who quickly showed us to his version of "afternoon tea" which was wine and freshly baked cookies. Oh.my.God. They were delicious! We were given a tour of the property, along with some history. Andy took his time in explaining a map of the city and giving his recommendations for things to do and restaurants. This was such a nice and personal touch. We stayed in the Michigan Room. It was so warm and cozy. We felt right at home. This B&B is the perfect blend of modern and vintage. It definitely had the original charm of the home. But, it also has great modern conveniences such as an Apple TV, USB wall chargers and a pretty amazing shower. Entrance to the house, and your room, is by a personal code. Again, super cool:) There are towels aplenty and the bath robes are made from the worlds softest material. The house is located on a very quiet street which makes relaxing so easy. Do yourself a favor and take a walk around the neighborhood. The charm in the surrounding houses sends you back in time. It's a short 5 minute walk to downtown or to the beach. Breakfasts were amazing! On day 1, we had homemade stuffed cinnamon swirl french toast, fruit and yogurt parfait, an egg souffle and organic sausage. Day 2 was homemade cinnamon rolls, bacon and a caramelized apple, pecan and brie omelette. Whenever Andy wants to cook for you, just say yes because it's going to be heavenly! It was so nice sitting with Andy and the other couple for some fun and informative conversation. Overall, the personal touches are what set this B&B above and beyond any experience we've previously had. Thank you, Andy & Nita!

I've enjoyed lunch and dinner at their restaurant, Plank's Tavern, and I've always enjoyed their outdoor tiki bar with a water view! They have nice, updated rooms, a cafe that opens early for espresso drinks, and their hot tub is awesome because it goes outside! It's fun to relax in the hot tub during a Michigan snowfall. In addition, we wanted to use our credit card points so our selections for this weekend were slim but overall this checked all the boxes. What went well was that our room was quiet. There was 24/7 coffee/tea available in the lobby. the space to walk the dog was really nice as there were two locations on either side of the buildings. Additionally enjoyed the set up of the room and the amenities such as the body wash and the hand soap. There is some room for improvement at this location in regards to breakfast items. It was very continental and really didn't do the trick however we were able to enjoy bagels, toast, hard boiled egg and they did have a few varieties of fresh fruit. In particular, I wasn't really a fan of the pancake machine and the traditional waffle iron would be much more hardy and suitable. Overall, no major problems with our room however, the TV system is unique and sometimes it works, and sometimes it didn't often to look at Pluto versus even accessing the live channels as their entertainment system is kind of finicky. Additionally, the lotion dispenser in our room did not work, and I really wanted to try the lotion as I thought the fragrance for the body wash and hand Soap was very pleasant. Lastly, the workers at this hotel are just not very friendly. They're not rude. They're just not hospitable and that was evident from the front desk to the breakfast attendance to the maintenance person. They just were not very friendly or engaging at overall. If in this area again, I would stay at this hotel if the price point was right. overall it was a good value and close to St. Joseph while having the charm of Stevensville.

On 3/23/24 rented a conference room for a graduation party and had to cancel due to circumstances beyond our control. I called on May 17, 2024 to cancel and was informed that there was a two-week cancellation policy. When I pointed out to Sara that I was calling 15 days in advance, she then assured me that she would work on getting me a refund from their accountant since they don't keep cash on site.
