Food is good, but there are flaws. There was MOLD on my cheese in my cheeseburger and they take FOREVER just to serve fries and/or nuggets

Slopes were good fresh snow and lots of terrain park open. I got food poisoning from the chicken strips at the restaurant.

I had THE BEST time at Bittersweet! Second time going but I had more fun this time because I didn't fall down as much lol there were multiple ski slops to go down which was great for the amount of people there. We went at 5 because it's cheaper but fun to snowboard at night. I can't wait to go back soon!! read more

Love bittersweet skiing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Did not run into one grumpy person there. We went on one of the busiest day, with a resent snow fall. The lift ticket line ran smoothly, with a very minimal wait. The equipment rental was the same, with smooth sailing. Lift lines were long, but also moved along. Giving you enough time to cool off a bit. The bar area was packed. The only down side was the bartenders are not very aware of the surroundings. You have to raise a hand or holler at them to get service. Not gonna mark them down for this, as it is very busy. We actually got a laugh out of it. Will definitely be going back! read more

We didn't get our rentals for 2 hours, drove two hours as well to get up there. They didn't allow us to get a rental slip so we couldn't get our rentals. Don't recommend. read more

Lots of security to make sure you have a pass but an epidemic of thefts. People getting boards and skis stolen daily since parking lot open to just walk out with anything. The staff just says to lock up your stuff and no signs saying under video surveillance or how bad the left problem. Rates also just skyrocketed this year and the local school passes changed the rules only work one day a week when the school ski club comes out. First time we will by season passes at Timber Ridge and locally owned which is great. read more

Great time last night skiing on a Thursday night! Bittersweet continues to improve and grow their location which keeps me coming back every season. When you get a chance, go check out the expansion inside with the panoramic view of the hill. As always, I'm a huge fan of the speed lift as it's the only one of its kind in SW Michigan. With a season pass in hand I will be coming to Bittersweet all season!!! read more

I am a novice skiier so can't really compare how good the powder is compared to other places. What I can tell you is that bittersweet is really well maintained with friendly staff to guide us beginners. Rental process is efficient and the gear is pretty decent. They have few beginner level slopes where you can practice and boost your confidence before tackling the bigger slopes. Lines for the lift can be big but it moves quickly. We were starving after couple hrs of struggling at the slopes. They have a cafeteria inside but we chose to go for the BBQ outside. Again I was impressed with how they streamlined the grill and were able to serve so many ppl with fresh burgers and hotdogs fresh off the grill. Burger was perfect and definitely hit the spot. I can't wait to go back next season to both ski and enjoy a delicious burger! read more

Small hill with about 8-10 runs. Decent snow coverage at the end of December, two small park areas and a learning carpet, tow rope, two or three lifts, it's decent for learners. I personally judge a ski resort by its park and for the size of the hill, the park was pretty decent. 5 jibs on the main like with 2 jumps and about 4 features at the mini park near the tow rope. Bar area inside, lots of gear for rent, come have some fun here! read more

Had a blast! Very friendly and informative staff. Nice rentals, I ended up with brand new boots. We went to Timber Ridge and was extremely disappointed, bittersweet changed our day around! We will be back! If I can recommend anything.. I would recommend someone to observed the slope for injuries especially on the beginners slopes where everybody is falling. read more

Speaking to the winners circle restaurant. Make sure you bring your own food and beer! I came here multiple times and the service is dismal. Expect an insane wait time no matter the day and sometime you get forgot. I have given them many tries I'm done. They need expand the kitchen and rebrand this place with better options. read more

I just took my 4 & 8 yr old girls here for a day. I got them both a 2 hr private lesson and both the instructors were great. it finally clicked with my 8 yr old and I think it had everything to do with her instructor. Overall, its a good place to ski/board in the Midwest. The jumps in the park were awesome and very unexpected to have such a solid terrain park. read more

I can't say enough good about Bittersweet Ski Resort. My wife and I decided to introduce our 5 year old to skiing in mid-January at Bittersweet. Choosing Bittersweet was the perfect decision. The instructor provided to us was great. He kept our son's interest peaked to the point that he didn't want to leave the bunny hill. I believe that the instructor's name was Tyler. Both Tyler and the ski school desk also recommended a 30 minute lessons versus the 1 hour lesson in an attempt to keep the attention of a 5 year old and save mom and dad a bit of money. I appreciated that point. :) Fast forward a few more visits to this past weekend for more great service and experiences from Bittersweet and its staff. While skiing, our son had an accident that left him soaked from the waist down. That's the time that my wife and I realized that we forgot the extra bag of clothes at home, 2 1/2 hours away. The manager at the desk went out of her way to help us find clothing and snow gear so that we could continue our day on the hill. Her kindness help to calm an embarrassed boy and parents. She helped a lot to make the situation better and get us back on the slopes. Bittersweet is great place for families to spend the day skiing and enjoying the day. read more

General Manager was very rude. Stated it was unsafe for anyone with rental equipment but safe for those with their own equipment. We buy season tickets every year and happened to need rentals one time as her set is getting fixed. Rental shop had plenty of skis but didn't matter. I want to support local every year but not after being told better luck next time. You've lost 5 season pass holders. read more

Bittersweet is a great resort with receptive staff, well-maintained rental equipment, and a variety of hills for different levels. As a beginner, I particularly appreciated that the lower-gradient hills were spread over a large distance so one could get good practice out of each run. Was fairly crowded when we went, but skiiers and snow-boarders of all levels are around and there are several classes offered throughout the day. Great options for food and snacks and delicious hot chocolate inside for when you'd like to take a break. Compared to other resorts in the area, Bittersweet is definitely cleaner, with friendly, available staff, and provides a better skiing experience overall. read more

First time snowboarding (ever) was at bittersweet on a Sunday over the holidays. Had no idea what to expect so I booked a group lesson and ended up having a one on one with Jordan. Because we got there after the morning hours, slightly less kids to contend with. Overall super pleased with my lesson and contrary to what others said about service, I felt like staff--bar, rentals, instructors--across the board were attentive and friendly. Another pro: Magic carpets. Only downside was that with no real snow on the ground, it was pretty icy in some spots. read more

Went on a Sunday morning and the runs were wide open. Compared to runs out west they are shorter and there's just a few hills, but for central Michigan it was great. The hills were in great shape and the staff was wonderful. We arranged for private lessons for both boys. It was their first time out and they had a great time with the instructors - we eventually had to drag them away after six hours on the runs! Big thanks to Reece and David - they were wonderful for the first ski instruction for a 5 yo and 7 yo. read more

My expectations were low, and Bittersweet more than exceeded my them. The runs are not long and most of the ski lifts (except the Sweet Express) are old and slow, but for the location and price it was much better than I was anticipating! It isn't Colorado but the runs are well-maintained and the lift lines were never too long (we went the day before NYE). Overall Bittersweet is a solid ski hill. read more

Expect a small resort with low hills. This is a great family place or for a beginner. If your expectations are aligned it's worth a visit. Note that the bar gets VERY crowded, the servers are overworked, and don't really seem to care about the customers. read more

Let's be real: we don't expect Big Sky, Montana experiences in Michigan. Considering that, this is about as good as you can get in the area. It has relatively quick lines. (Try that at Tahoe or Vail) Sure, the runs are short. But time on the snow % /time waiting % is probably very close to western resorts. The runs are well maintained, the ski patrol people are wonderful, and the lifts are very adequate. OK, the Black Diamond run is not a Black Diamond anywhere out west. That's a lot of overstatement. But right now I am dressing to go there. Looking forward to a great day as usual! Now back from 4.5 hours on the hill. There is enough snow west of Hawthorne now to use that new run, it is quite steep if you get to it from the top of Sweet Express. Spent all day (Monday January 12) skiing right to nothing worse than next in line, most often to right into the next lift chair. $32 all day lift ticket. $4.50 beef stew, full bowl. A fun area to ski for an afternoon buy WAY over priced. $48 for a day of skiing for 5 decent runs? No, that's way to much.

As far as southwest Michigan goes this is the place to ski! The runs are well maintained, usually one of the first to open, and last places to close. read more

A great little ski resort that's not too far away (one hour and 20 minutes for us) for a perfect day trip. My five year old took lessons from one of the instructors last year and feels comfortable on his own now. A small enough place to let my nine year old hit all the slopes on his own but still a ton of fun for the more seasoned riders. We look forward to the burgers on the patio and the music and campfire. Overall, highly recommended for the family or anyone looking to hit the slopes for a good price. read more

Kids and I had a great time. We loved the magic carpet and the tow rope area. A few of us hit the larger hills and had a blast. We will be going here again, even though it is a 2 1/2 hour or more drive for us. best ski resort around! worth the drive but the restaurant and bar.... im giving the slopes a 4/5 the bar should get a 0/5... my waitress was rude, and honestly if she worked for me, she would have been let go... ive worked in food service for years. ive waited on more tables than days in the year.. she came and checked on me 1 time. i had to go to the bar and ask for my bill. i get nights get bust but, i saw her just standing around messing with her hair, talking to her friends, and honestly not doing her job, the lady next to me had the same server and had to go to the bar for her bill to. it took her 20 minutes for her to get me a water.... and 30 minutes for my basket of fries to be done. it was just a bad experience and im sure not all of the wait staff is like that but she was just down right rude. i come out here about 1 time a week. i usually dont get anything to eat, and i learned from my lesson. but the slopes, a great fun time!! read more

Best place to ski that is close to Chicago. Runs are ok, snow was great. Lifts are fast and have a high speed quad. Food was great and plenty of micro brews. I enjoy skiing here and the price is right. read more
