Another plus is it's located between Manteo and Kitty Hawk, so you have plenty of options of places to go for drinks, a good meal, sight seeing, or for a good time in the water. Outdoor pool was nice, I didn't see the indoor pool since it was in the other building. Housekeeping did a great job with our room as well. My only criticisms would be that some things in our room need some TLC like the sliding door to the balcony would occasionally get stuck and the fridge/freezer was stuck on the highest setting which froze everything we put in there lol. What an incredible disappointment it was. The comparison was stark. The entire property is in need of attention. The porch swing we enjoyed outside our room (#11) two years ago was sitting on the deck this year (picture attached). The afternoon social advertised for Saturday afternoon did not happen. The boardwalk to the road was unusable and while cordoned off for safety didn't have any repairs during our stay. The beach walkway is a joke, and dangerous. The hot, made to order breakfast we'd enjoyed in 2024 was an embarrassment. Sunday morning's breakfast consisted of two small round store-bought waffles and a flaccid, microwaved piece of something unlike bacon. We chose to skip breakfast on Monday and Tuesday mornings and pay to eat elsewhere. In general, the inn appears to be falling to ruin. The bathroom floor was sticky and clearly unclean. The mini-fridge froze our sodas. We never saw any innkeeping staff on premises other than the nice young man who brought us our breakfast on Sunday morning. The quality of the food was not his fault; clearly, the days of having a cook make special breakfasts of the day are a thing of the past. What in the world has happened? There are absolutely things about this TownPlace Suites that I would like to see changed or that I…read moredidn't like, however I'm still giving 5 stars because of the location and the setup they have here and because I personally would go back without a second thought. First, some of the issues I have: The room layout puts one bed very close to the air conditioner and because they have the old-fashioned hotel style AC units, that leaves at least one person getting directly blasted with cold air all night. Using pool towel clips to put a towel over one side of the vent did help but reduced the efficacy of the AC and made the room warmer for everyone else. Breakfast is nice (and free) but the setup of it seems to be done as if this is a business hotel and not a beach front hotel. The cereal choices were all boring adult cereals, the bread for toast was VERY whole grain (as in it had pieces of grains in it), and the only milk they had was white milk (for example). Adding a small amount of more kid-friendly breakfast elements would go a long way. The outdoor pool is sheltered from the wind by the sand bank and gets really hot in the sun, a lightweight shade over the whole (or part of) the deck would probably be a welcomed addition by most people. As for what's great about this place: The location includes a beachfront pool + small snack shack with beach access which is directly across the road from the hotel itself. This gives the best of both worlds with beachfront access as well as having better parking and more room on the hotel property. On non-weekends the price is super affordable for a beachfront Marriott property. Not to mention the only Marriott property on the Outer Banks. It's very close to great food options, many walkable. Stuff for both adults and kids is easy to access. It's also not far to many interesting sightseeing or cultural things to see. All-in-all, I would love to see some minor changes but even with some flaws this is definitely a 5 star option.

The air conditioning was broke in the main lobby, where the breakfast buffet was the room temperature thermostat was on the fritz and the unit rattle loud the cleaning service was absolutely horrible. The refrigerator was leaking and we had to retrieve our own towels daily because the staff didn't replace what they took out of room, we have stayed here 4 yrs in a row and this was the worst I've seen it.

Room comes with towels, bar soap, mini shampoo / conditioner, toilet paper, extra trash bags, tiny coffee maker, mini fridge, window ac, base board heat, microwave, small tv, closet, dresser, nightstand and free WiFi. Ice machine and drink machine located in back motel. Oh and .... living walking disgusting cockroaches! Almost stepped on a cockroach as I went to the bathroom ! Yes it was alive ! Yes I am allergic !!! No wonder my allergies are giving me a fit. :( Note to self: Bring roach traps! The oceanfront location and easy beach access are fantastic, and the outdoor pool area is amazing with plenty of comfortable seating. They also have an indoor pool, hot tub, and a great hot breakfast. But the true standout of our experience was Kira, one of the supervisors. Her kindness and hospitality were absolutely unmatched. She went above and beyond to make my son and me feel welcomed and cared for, and her genuine warmth made our experience so much more special. Kira is truly an asset to Shutters! Samantha at the front desk was also incredibly kind and helpful. We were so impressed by the beautiful property and, most of all, the people who made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Shutters to anyone visiting the Outer Banks!

My only complaint was the shower. It was very difficult to route the water from the faucet up to the showerhead and the water was only lukewarm. If we had stayed longer, we would have asked for a different room because of that. We could tell the hotel has been updated within the last few years. It wasn't faded decor, but had a clean, classy vibe. Not a high-end resort hotel, but certainly worth the price and it's conveniently located.

The room was clean, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, dining chair and table. The balcony offered a great beach view. Unless I could guarantee a king bed for our next trip, I would not stay here again. Weird for a couple's trip to look at each other and wave Goodnight during a vacation.
