Absolutely the best customer service I have ever had at any other Enterprise Rent-A-Car that I have used. To be honest, they beat any other car rental place that I have used. While I was at the gym, someone with a trailer hitch backed into my car and punched a hole in my front end. I took it to the repair shop and contacted my insurance. I couldn't get in to the repair shop for two months. It was drivable, so that was not a big deal. Even with my need two months away, I had an agent from Enterprise reach to me via phone. He said, he had spoken with my repair shop and insurance company. I was assured, I would have transportation while my SUV was being repaired. Two days before my scheduled repair, Johnny an agent called and informed me of how the process of getting my rental would go. He was polite and professional. When I dropped my car off at the repair shop, Johnny was there shortly after with my rental. To my delight, it was a small SUV, like my normal ride. I quickly thanked him for giving me that type of car. His response, shows how good the CS was. He explained that they saw what I typically drove and did their best to match it. My rental SVU was a, Hyundai Santa Fe. It was impressive. Handled well and had all the bells and whistles. I could see why buy them. Glad it was stolen while I had it - lol. The entire check-in and rental process was done on a I-Pad type device. There was no trip back to the office for paperwork. I didn't even have to take him back to the office. Everything was so quick and efficient. When I picked my car up, all I had to do was leave the keys with the secretary at the repair shop and go on my way. Again, easy-peasy. Got home with a pretty damaged. crappy car that stunk like cigarettes so badly that I had a massive headache by the time I got home with it to pack and hit the road on this road trip, and with no functioning cruise control. Not great right? So, I called them and said that I need to come and trade this for a car that works and doesn't get smoked in. They had a really nice man named Willie bring a practically new car and the newest, coolest model of the same Nissan I had. It was perfect and I really appreciate them doing that. They also knocked $50 off my total because my nephew cut two fingers and his palm in all the shattered glass in the trunk. I vacuumed it all out 3 different times, but the next day, there'd always be more and more broken glass showing right back up. My nephew helped me move 3 plastic bags filled old nice clothes from my nephews in Tulsa to bring back here to my son's house in Godfrey, IL. for his two little boys. Some shattered glass must've stuck to the bottom of the bags we were removing and my nephew got cut pretty badly. They did knock $50 off my bill, but that might literally be the LEAST they could do, but in the same breath, they did do that. So thank you guys, and big props to all your employees during my entire process. I was impressed by the knowledge, and I felt appreciated and valued, and they helped me every step of the way. Also, I could've kept that car another full day for practically nothing. Had I been informed and notified about that, I would've been able to use it for another day, and would've had time to fill it full with the 3 or 4 gallons that were missing. I gave you 5 stars because of your EMPLOYEES 5 star rating from me. Here's one I can honestly say, something which I would love to hear if I were you. I was never going to rent a car using Enterprise again, ever, before this. Now?? I will exclusively rent cars from Enterprise now. THAT'S how great everyone there was. I mean it. My insurance company booked a rental car for me for last Friday. No location has any vehicles it is now Monday. I have been left with the task of calling every enterprise location in the area multiple times a day to try to see if they have a car available. Why did they accept a reservation with no cars available? Why do I have to keep calling all the locations trying to get a car when I already have a reservation! The locations can't check to see of other locations have any vehicles. I shouldn't have to do this much leg work just to try to get a car. I need a car to get to and from work until mine gets fixed or totaled. read more

Booked rental online between 11-12pm pick up. I arrived at 1145am and spoke with the man at the desk. They didn't have an SUV ready yet and when I said why didn't anyone call or notify me Tori shouted "Well I had you down for 11am" in an extremely rude tone. I told her I booked it over the phone and told her the sorry. The original guy helping saw an SUV pull up and was quick to help. I started on a Friday trying to rent a car. This was going to be paid by my insurance while my car was being repaired. I needed the car for 10 days. After speaking to an Enterprise representative I was told they would have a car for me the next day Saturday. I called Saturday and I was told they did not have a car that would be covered by my insurance coverage of $30 a day but they had something bigger and I would be responsible for the difference. I said that would be fine. My insurance agent Alex called and made sure they had me added to the rental not in my husbands name but my name. We are both on the Allstate insurance policy. I called them back and the Enterprise agent said it was too late I would have to wait until Monday and to call back then. I said well let's just go ahead and schedule a drop off between 1-2 p.m. He said you have to call us first. Monday morning I could not get anyone to answer the phone so I called my insurance agent. This time Heather, another agent in our Allstate office finally got through to them and arranged for them to pick me up and take me back to the Enterprise office (which is literally three miles from my home) The Enterprise people did not show up at the arranged time. My agent called them again and told them I was waiting for a pickup. After waiting for an hour my husband called from out of town in a business meeting me and said they had been sitting in my driveway and would not stop calling HIS number. I had given them MY number several times and they knew I was the person that needed the rental in Alton, Il. Not my husband who was in another state. I went outside and the young woman was sitting in her car with the window rolled down. WHY did she not come to the door or call the correct number. By this time I was so frustrated I could cry. When I got to the car I was on the phone with my husband and I said to him, "I have no idea why she just didn't come to the door...and now she is being Bitchy" Of course she was offended that I was so frustrated since she had just come to give me a ride. Bottom line I went back inside and would never use Alton Enterprise again. I did try to apologize for being curt with the young woman but by that time I have been trying to rent a car for five days. My insurance agents went above and beyond with customer service but Alton Enterprise dropped the ball every single day. Terrible customer service so unless you have the patience of Jesus avoid them. I began only needing a rental for a day. I was under the impression that if I needed it longer they would take from the deposit. I called every morning to extend and kept the rental a few days. Upon returning it their we're so many fees that I had never been told about even though I had been calling them. I did not enjoy the service and will not be using them again. read more

I am a huge fan of Enterprise customer service. I use them whenever possible when traveling on business and have never had a bad experience. However, picked up a rental today for personal weekend trip. Was helped by a younger employee, Grant, who really gave the impression that renting a car to the likes of us, working at a rental car company, being in Alton, Il (you get the idea, just pick one) was far beneath him. Would have expected this at Budget, who typically has the worst customer service, but not Enterprise. Hope this isn't where they're headed as a company. Also, gave us the car "half full" of gas and asked it be returned that way? After driving it about 30 miles, it just took 12 gallons to fill the 15.9 gallon tank . . . Oh, and car was dirty too, inside and out. read more

I reserved a full-size car two months ago. I called them the day before my reservation to confirm I had a full-size car with a trunk. They said yes. They called me the morning of my reservation to make sure I bring all the required documents for the rental. I did. I showed up at noon to pick it up and they didn't have a car for me. What? They allowed me a free upgrade to a mini van. Awesome I think. Very cool. We leave. Stop to get gas. My debit card declined. Enterprise charged me $638 for my free upgrade. I am now out of town. Enterprise is closed until 7:30 the next morning and I have zero funds available on my debit card. Luckily have more than one bank and can proceed with gas. No 800 number will take my call. All local offices are closed. This company has the worst customer service. In addition, my rental smells like an ash tray. We stopped at Walmart to buy Febreeze and wipes to wash down the seats and spray the carpets. The wipes were black with dirt. It obviously had not been wiped down in ages. My advice, rent some place else. *****UPDATE: I delayed leaving until 7:30 am so that I could speak to Enterprise in person. They corrected the overcharges and I should see the money back in my account in 24 hours. This went better than I thought I would. I give 3 stars because I'm leaving 4 hours later than I planned. But the seem to have resolved the issue. read more

Rental was clean. Though it did only have a 1/4th of a tank. Which is weird. They usually fill them up at enterprises. Also. There IS a key drop on the building on the back side. Very handy. That way I didn't have to have them pick me up in the morning. read more

We have used Enterprise in many cities over the past 21 months as we've cruised 4300 miles of America's Great Loop. We consistently get great service, reliable cars and friendly people. Our only issue is most are closed Sat & Sun - and they force you to pay for the weekend, even if you drop the car & keys in the drop box one minute after they close on Fri or noon Sat! Seems like a time stamp could solve that issue! read more

When I called to make a reservation for a vehicle I asked if I needed a credit card to be an additional driver. I was informed that I did not need to have a credit card to qualify to be an additional driver. At the time of my pick up they told me that I had to have a credit card. When trying to figure out why I was told differently the only information I was given is that "it's our policy". The customer service was awful and the lady was very rude and did not seem to have any interest in trying to figure out a solution for me as a paying customer. She could have helped me find a location that didn't have the same policy (as not every location has this same policy) but instead I was shut out. The customer service rep I spoke to had even informed me that this is the first time she has dealt with this since working there. In my opinion if you're going to be stricter on your policy at least help a customer find a solution. That should always be your first step in helping a customer. Brittany Menzenwerth is who I spoke to and is an "assistant manager". If that's the standard in choosing an assistant manager then enterprise will no longer receive my business. read more

My family and I made a reservation for a mini van to use for a week vacation that we had been planning for over a year. 2 days before our trip, the manager of this location called us to let us know that they did not have our vehicle available that we had reserved. We were then told to come into the store to figure out the issue. We were told to wait for over an hour because the associate was "helping other customers." This was the worst customer service I have ever received. We were desperate for a vehicle since we needed to leave immediately, so we were given another vehicle which was much bigger than we had originally requested. The vehicle got much worse gas mileage than we wanted as well. Also, the company charged us a higher rate for the vehicle that we did not want. To top it all off, they decided that because it was a different vehicle, we needed to have that specific vehicle returned back to the company a day before we had originally planned, cutting our vacation short a day. Among all of this, we were treated very unfairly and the service was absolutely terrible. I would never recommend this company's services to anyone. read more

I was never told about all the extra charges. I was told it was being paid for by Murcury until friday at 6pm. I opted to pay the insurance for 4 days. I got sick that evening and was unable to leave the house. I took it back as soon as i could Saturday morning and was charged all kinds of fres and taxes. The man working tried to explain it but not clearly. I was not asked if i could be charged. I was handed a receipt and that was it. I was charged $150 for 4 days rental. Murcury paid thw othwr $150. $300 for 4 days. That is crazy. We were not even given an option of a cheaper smaller car. I will complain with your company and with Murcury until something is done! read more

The Enterprise store in Alton has greatly improved in the last six months as far as customer relations. No long waits, friendly staff, nice selection of vehicles and rides back to the office. Only minor issue that I see is that the front window is rarely wiped cleaned. You can tell the vehicle is washed but the windshield is typically streaky and spotty. Could use a wipe-down inside and out. read more
