There's a lot of options I would look at before this property. I requested lakeside and didn't get it. Fitness room doesn't let you in until 7am, even when I asked earlier. Too late for me. Breakfast is just ok. We were put in a room with someone above us that was super loud and at like 130-330 am. There were plenty of open rooms to put them in with space in between. Good Lord Almighty, most disgusting hotel I've ever had the disservice of staying at. My husband and I booked this hotel last minute for the 4th of July weekend, as the island had no rooms available, and all the other hotels near the ferry were slim-pickins. We booked it without stupidly looking at reviews cause we were just excited there was a hotel with a room available. The fact we paid close to $1,000 for 3 nights upfront before even getting there and witnessing this trash is insanity. It's absolutely asinine they charged $300 a night for this junkyard of a room just because it was 4th of July weekend. I've stayed at WAY nicer hotels that were way cheaper. This is actual highway robbery. If you enjoy the pungent smell of sour mustiness, and the feeling of wet humidity slapping you in the face as soon as you walk into your room, this is your place. This place is a breeding ground of mold. Dead bugs everywhere, dead bugs in the shower, lamp shade, hand towels, on the door and walls. The floors are a complete disgusting shade of grey, when they were obviously a complete different color originally. The sheets and towels feel wet from how humid it is in there. I feel so gross just being in the room, my shoes and even unworn clothes will be washed when getting home from just being in the same musty place of that room. Also, aside from uncleanliness, there's a hole in the bathroom that's been stuffed with toilet paper. There's a hole in the ceiling, and random holes in the walls where larger pictures used to be hung. They've got an extension cord strung across the wall? And, the lamps on either side of the beds are different lighting, one is warm lighting and the other cool lighting, just so random, and tacky. I rest my case. read more

This hotel is VERY outdated. We had to haul a weeks worth of luggage down an entire flight of stairs as there are no elevators. Our sliding doors did not lock and our room door opened without using the key. The room smelled absolutely horrible, as did the halls - badly in need of dehumidifiers! The rooms are super outdated, we had a random piece of wood screwed onto the wall, possibly covering a hole, unsure? There were random doors open to non-hotel rooms with no doorknobs, filled with junk, etc. We decided to eat the cost of one night, cancel the rest of our stay and move a block down the road to a different hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The front desk staff was actually kind and friendly - but that is where all the positives stopped. We booked directly through the hotel in June. We were assured that our lakefront room would be accessible by elevator. Not so. The room was isolated, had a half balcony (no doorwall) accessible through a standard door that led to a partial view of a rooftop and some water. It was definitely NOT waterfront. It was a glorified storage closet, isolated from the rest of the hotel. The only light source was a 3x2 window in the door. They were fully booked, as were ALL the hotels in St Ignace. We found other accommodations in another town. We have stayed multiple times, but will not be returning nor recommending. read more

Whole facility definitely needs TLC. Rooms were dark and outdated. It was difficult to get to lower level rooms with luggage in tow and dealing with the elements of weather. Parking access to rooms was inaccessible. Ice Machines were 2 levels up, wall air conditioning was noisy, door walls hard to open . Breakfast was just ok. Hotel staff was extremely rude and unhelpful when my (small framed) daughter realized that when you sit on the edge of the bed, the whole bed tips. The room was dated and old with grimy fixtures. When she approached staff about switching to a different room with a better bed, she was told "No, all the beds are like that." Refused to refund the $170 she paid and my daughter ended up leaving and going to a nice hotel down the road in spite of the expense. Awful experience all around with Baymont! We stopped here based on the Wyndham name and the impressive outer appearance of the building. The lobby was very nice, including a large area for a continental breakfast, and the price of a room was $204/night, so, with the expectation of quality, we booked a room. As it turned out, our room was a dump (my husband's exact words), old and worn down. One thin, beat-up comforter was on the beds. When the scrambled eggs ran out at the continental breakfast the next morning, they weren't replaced. Will never stay here again. read more

This was a pleasant choice for a one night stay before our day trip to Mackinac Island. It was the cheapest deal I could find on Priceline, and the reviews on TripAdvisor were decent. Usually when you book something on Priceline, you can expect to get the worst room, but that wasn't the case here. When we checked in, they upgraded us to a lake view room so that was really nice. The room was large and clean. The two women at the front desk were extremely nice when we arrived. The pool and hot tub (yes!) area was really nice. We enjoyed views of the lake while we dipped our feet in the hot tub. It was very relaxing. The breakfast wasn't that great, they had some kind of corned beef hash that smelled like cat food, the eggs were inedible and the coffee was like water. I stayed at the Baymont Inn the night before I went to Mackinac Island for the day. Accommodations on the island can get quite pricey, so I decided to look for options on the mainland. Baymont got great reviews, so I booked a room online. Baymont is a five minute drive from the docks of all three Mackinac ferries (Shepler's, Arnold, Starline - I prefer Shepler's). Check in at the main building next to the swimming pool, which is also where breakfast is served. I was pleased with my lakeside room with two queen beds. It was quite spacious, with a large upholstered armchair, breakfast table with two chairs, desk, TV, microwave, and mini fridge. I found the bed to be quite comfortable considering it wasn't my own. The bathroom fit the bill. I recommend spending the extra $20 or so and reserving a lakeside room. You get gorgeous sunrise and sunset views of Lake Huron. The room came with a small white picket fence balcony with two white plastic chairs, but beware of the bugs trapped between the screen and sliding glass door. Seeing as it was mayfly season in Michigan, I didn't open the door until the morning when I was about to head out as I didn't want to deal with a swarm of bugs invading my room. Do pop your head out in the AM and enjoy the view, though! For roughly $90 a night, I think I got my money's worth. Overall, Baymont is a solid choice if you're looking to stay in St. Ignace before going to Mackinac (or wherever else your travels take you). *Don't forget to take advantage of the AAA discount if you are a member! read more

Our room had a beautiful view, our room was cleaned thoroughly every day, the common areas were clean, and the staff was nice during the very little interaction we had with them. The room itself was pretty big and I loved that the vanity area was separate from the toilet/shower. Breakfast was just like any other hotel breakfast I've had and WiFi was free. I took off a star because the pool, although it was gorgeous and looked out over the water, had a ton of bugs in it. I know, I know, bugs are common at this time of year for up there (they even tell you at the desk that it's just a fact of life in the area at this time - they don't bite, sting, etc), but if you know that they're hanging out in swarms around your hotel, enough to where you advise guests to enter and exit quickly, you should be on top of skimming the pool. check your mattresses before checking in. This is not a nice place to stay, we checked in and only there a few hours. As my daughter laid on the bed watching tv as A bug crawled next to pillow in the sheets. We checked the mattresses and both had several black dots. I went to the office and told clerk we weren't staying as we found a bug crawling on the sheets plus black dots in mattresses. I was informed rather rudely we would not be getting our two nights refund only one night. That she would switch rooms or us. Talking it over with my daughter we said okay only if the mattresses were clean no bugs or black dots We went into the new room and there was old food crumbs between mattresses, many black dots on both mattresses (You can do a internet search to see what those black dots could be) from in one made bed an ant came crawling between the sheets. I went to front desk to tell clerk we weren't staying in a hotel with bugs and black dots on mattresses and clerk refused to refund both my nights. She went on to say we've never had bed bugs Ever and they also sent me an email stating they looked and it wasn't bedbugs well from the very beginning I never said it was I said we found bugs pretty defensive for some place that says I never had them when I never said they did they were just bugs and black dots all over the mattress nasty I'll never stay with this hotel again Filed claim with their corporate and with my bank we took lots of photos and a video you can see on trip advisor review read more

my family only stayed one night, i can say that i really liked the back of the hotel (the view, bonfire, lake, play set, and pool as of 9/20/21) but after swimming in the (too much) chlorine pool, i got shocked while moving the lamp to a different plug. it was plugged into the radio (why? idk) so i moved it to the wall plug, to charge mine and my siblings phones. the room also smelled musty (too much soap trying to cover it), the ceiling in the closet was caving in, there was mold in the shower, and they had no extra blankets available. really nice staff. as soon as we woke up, we left. read more

There is no elevator. We had a suite. There was a hole in the sofa. There were splatters near the garbage can as if the previous guest had thrown cups or bottles at the garbage. One bed frame was sticking out and nicked my shin. When my husband sat on the other side, the mattress popped up. There was mold on the tub. The walls were thin, so the people in the rooms around us were a bit of a disturbance. Some of the floor boards creaked, sounding like the floor wasn't sturdy. In the pictures, it looked like each room on the second floor had its own balcony. Nope. One balcony for 7 or 8 rooms and one table with four chairs were for all of the rooms. The breakfast room was too small and ill-equipped for the number of people. Never again. The only good thing was the view of the lake. And "free high-speed internet"? Uh...no. Worse than dial-up. Decided we wanted to spend the weekend up north to visit Mackinaw Island. Booked this hotel online and arrived around 3:00 for check in. Receptionist was friendly and check in was easy breezy. The weather was perfect so I was anxious to see our view from our balcony. Got to our room and it was spacious and clean. We got the King room with Jacuzzi. The balcony had a nice view of the lake and had two chairs to sit and watch the sunrise. The hallways needed some repair and the decor was slightly outdated but the beds were comfortable and so were the pillows. The jacuzzi and shower was clean and relaxing. Its location was close to a good amount of restaurants, ice cream and stores. Very close to the docks to board the ferry's to Mackinaw. Cute little town that also had a few pastie shops, jerky and smoked fish stops also. Also candy and fudge. The breakfast had a good variety. Im mot too keen on packaged scrambled eggs but Sunday morning had cheese small folded eggs and they were better. The standard muffins, sausage, waffles, bagels and yogurt were available also. We would stay again because of the cost and location. read more

Wish I could leave ZERO stars. We paid a premium for a lakefront room. What we were given is in fact a lakefront room, but you wouldn't be able to see the lake through the one small window in a regular door, not a slider, that led to a tiny balcony. When you are in the room the window is so high that you can't see the lake if sitting down. The window is SO small that it feels like you are in a dark cave even on a sunny day. To top it off, the room is directly above the exercise room and we were woken VERY early by the loud noise and vibration of those using the treadmill. To have paid this much money for such an awful room is beyond disappointing. In addition I left a cup of tea on my nightstand when I went out briefly for lunch only to return and find it had been discarded. I Ike a very special variety of tea sold by only one coffee shop in the area. Please, hotels, let your guests decide if they want their beverages discarded. When I went to the front desk to tell them how unhappy we were with the room and about my tea being tossed, the clerk Becca argued with me and as I was walking out the front door made a parting shot. I was very professional and respectful when I explained the difficulties we had. I couldn't believe the disrespect shown to me and the lack of empathy. read more

We were up north to visit Lake Superior State with our son and to visit Mackinac Island. I am really glad we paid the little extra for a lake view room ... the sunrises and sunsets were fantastic to begin and end the days with. The beds were perfect ... I think they were pillow top and they were SO comfortable. Water pressure in the shower is a deal-breaker for me at hotels, and this one was phenomenal. The staff was really friendly. There was some construction going on in the pool area so that made it not very pretty, but I think it will be great when it's done. One thing to know is that there are no elevators, so if you can't do stairs you need to ask for a ground floor room. The breakfast was just OK, but it was free so we didn't expect a lot. It is within walking distance of a lot of local watering holes, so that's good if you want to have a few cocktails. We went across the parking lot to Jose's Cantina, which we loved. It was a really pleasant stay; we'll probably be back. read more

This is one of the worst places I have stayed. I walked in and the room was decent. But upon opening the bathroom door it started to smell like urine. I looked around for a mess or gross floor and didn't see anything so as I flushed the toilet I had leaned forward and smelled a stronger urine scent. It was the HAND TOWELS. They were unclean and smelled horrid. I am highly disappointed that they apparently don't wash linens....or they do and then clean the bathroom floors with them and hang them up for the next guests. read more

Business colleague and I stayed here overnight. Frankly, very disappointed. While the staff was accommodating and friendly, the rooms were outdated. Had two rooms. Had to switch out of one room because of overwhelming cigarette smell. My colleague's room - in the newer, renovated section of the hotel - had equipment problems: broken phone and fridge that did not work. My room, in the unrennovated portion of the hotel, was only ok. Very old throughout (1970s?). Important note: many of the rooms require that you go up and down lots of stairs - and there is no elevator. read more
