This is a beautiful hotel directly on Lake Huron. Shepler's ferry has a door to door shuttle for their ferry to Mackinac Island. The hotel is very clean. The hotel staff were great. They provided great service and it was a pleasure to interact with all Hampton members. They gave recommendations for restaurants, even though the lobby bar/restaurant was very good. I'm conflicted here because everyone was very very nice at this hotel, however, we spent nearly $1500 for three nights, and there was just too much wrong for that sort of money: Nice new hotel. Great lobby, great view. BUT when we first entered the room, someone else's hair tie as well as some misc gross garbage was on the floor as soon as we walked it. One of the tv remotes was just missing And worst - the entire bed had SAND IN IT. By the time we realized it, it was too late, so I just slept in my clothes. We asked the next day if they could change the sheets and clean the room. They said yes. We got back and no one had done a thing at all...and we were out of bath towels and toilet paper and had to go ask for those, as well as ask them AGAIN about cleaning and sheets. They apologized and said they would mark it in bold. We had to sleep in the sandy sheets again. Finally we got back the last day and they had come to the room, but......THEY JUST MADE THE BED WITH THE SAME DIRTY SHEETS! For $100 I can understand. For $1500 I'm pretty angry. We never once got clean sheets. I'm not even positive they were changed from the last guest. oh, and there was chocolate pudding smears on the counter, and a huge giant bug in the shower that freaked my son out. read more

The hotel was clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast in the morning got us on our way. I did notice the hot tub was cloudy and brought it to their attention and they said the maintenance cleaned it that morning. The only downside is the hotel is we stayed in room 321 beautiful view, but the room smelled weird in the evening and the hall smells like wet dog. They spray something in the mornings but when you come back in the evening it's smells like wet dog and I have dogs, so normally it doesn't bother me. But carpet isn't the answer if your a pet friendly hotel. Also they need to clean the corners of the shower and around the toilet. Still have them 4 stars because the bar at night has a friendly guy from Romania and the staff is nice. You can catch a shuttle to the ferry to Mackinac island which was nice. read more

This was a great Hilton property. The hotel is practically brand new, less than a year old and situated perfectly on the lake. The views were unmatched no matter what part of the hotel you were in - the lobby, the rooms and even the pool and all outdoor seating areas all faced the water. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly and the amenities at this property compared to others were excellent. It was very nice having a pool, multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas, a hot tub and an arcade room. The gym was also spacious and well equipped. I am always hesitant to book a hotel with not many reviews, but I took a chance on this property and sure glad I did! We would return here again for sure. read more

Booked this hotel and was bummed to learn it wasn't on the island, which is technically our job to be aware of, but I do think it's misleading to those who are not from the area to say is in Mackinac, since we thought that was the island. I will say the location is still good, but it's pricey for a Hampton Inn. We booked 3 rooms together and were all on different floors- not a huge deal. Ernesto checked us in and my dad even asked if we could all be together and Ernesto just ignored the request. I purchased water, which was 5.00 a bottle! Talk about insane, they also have snacks, which are all less than a dollar/or one dollar anywhere else, and they are charging 3+ for the snacks. We got into our room and went to open the sofa bed, the sheets were dirty/stained and had popcorn all over them. I quickly called down and should have asked for another room, but decided just to ask for housekeeping and a comforter for the sofa. Instead Ernesto came up with a flat sheet and 10 pillow cases, no joke, we counted. I reminded him we also needed a comforter and he just laughed and said he'd be back. He came back like 2 minutes later and gave me a duvet cover. My son went downstairs hoping to talk to someone else but Ernesto "helped" him again, and my son said he was rude, told him he would have to wait 30 Minutes so he could go get a comforter and what he ended up giving my son was a raggedy blanket. I wanted to go down and ask for the manager but honestly didn't want to trouble tonight since it's already late, but did ask for the name of the manager and will be reaching out to her as well. When we went downstairs for my teens to get a snack, there were 3 hotel employees standing there talking and when we walked up to pay Ernesto laughed again, disappeared into the office and Marcela helped us. She was nice enough, definitely friendlier and more helpful, but it just felt like we had interrupted them talking. I have stayed at Hampton Inn many times during my travels, but if this is the new norm I would not book again. I was so disappointed at the service, the state of the room, and the way we were completely dismissed. I would expect more from a hotel that we paid so much to stay in for 1 night. The hotel itself looks nice enough, the rooms are spacious and the AC works great, so if it weren't for the way we were treated, the up charge on snacks/water (wish we had stopped at the gas station) and how the room wasn't clean, it would have been a great stay. For us, and our party of 11 total, we can't recommend this particular hotel to anyone. It truly was the worst experience we have had on our two week trip so far. Very clean hotel! Great amenities! Our toddler and dog both enjoyed! The breakfast being included was great! I do wish there was some vegetarian egg dishes daily as an alternative to the eggs with meat in it. But it's free so can't really complain! Ferry ride was nearby. read more

It's a new hotel which is super nice and the lobby is kept clean. The breakfast is very limited but they do have a waffle maker and Greek yogurt is really the only healthy option. I tried to go to the front desk a couple of times and both times no one appeared for what I considered a long time. I got far enough with this review to hit done if that tells you how long. I stayed here two weeks in a row and the pattern was consistent. When I checked in at 8pm I waited so long I finally went to the employee door behind the desk to ask if anyone would check me in. The drinks at the bar are 14.00 each for a basic rum and coke and if you book through Expedia the front desk management said you do not earn Hilton honor points. I questioned this since Expedia let me put in my Hilton membership number but I was told it's just the way it works. read more

They totally went out of the way to ensure that the 22 of us were comfortable and well taken care of. Beautiful views of Mackinac Island, great hot tub and pool. Exercise facilities and arcade. Aug 18, 2025 Best front desk staff ever, thinking her name is Lisa... she treated us like she would want her family to be treated. She worked the Wed. evening shift and then again on Thurs. a.m., so we were greeted by her and also she helped with Hilton Honors as we were leaving. That was Aug. 13-14. The hotel itself is beautiful, right on the lake. Breakfast very good too. Nice outside tables for looking out on the water and soaking in some sunshine. Super nice hotel - thank you!! read more

Don't be fooled by "Lakefront" We were originally excited to stay here for a couple nights on a week long Up North road trip. Having more modern amenities and being on the water, at a not-too-unreasonable-for-the-summer price, was appealing. Unfortunately nothing can make up for a truly fatal flaw: all the balcony rooms facing the lake have blinding lights over the balconies that cannot be turned off that come on the second it gets dark. This means you can't see anything past the balcony itself: no night sky, no water, no twinkling lights on Mackinac Island, nothing. It also creates horrible light pollution for all the other properties around the Hampton Inn, none of whom have lights outside at night. And, of course, the blackout blinds can't completely blot out the light coming through the balcony window, which impacts sleep. This "feature" ruined the entire stay for us and there's no going back from that. When we asked about it, we were told the lights are controlled by "the system" and we were met with surprise that we didn't like them! We tried to sit outside the first night and it was awful and jarring. You can go out down the beach a little ways and see the sky, but there's still this hulking building lit up like the worst Christmas Tree ever. I'm honestly surprised St. Ignace lets them ruin the beach like that, they really shouldn't be allowed to. If they hadn't completely negated the point of having a balcony overlooking the lake, I'd say the place was a fine example of your basic Hampton Inn: good sized rooms, nice bathrooms, somewhat better than average breakfast, friendly (if slightly clueless) staff. The property is new, clean, etc. They even have a full bar, which was a nice amenity. But paying over $300 a night for a room with lights that actively destroy your enjoyment of the natural beauty you came to see is an insult. Side note: while I understand that a lot of places don't do housekeeping every day, having a note in the bathroom about how it's for "your comfort" is pretty disingenuous...but that's minor compared to having the view you paid for obliterated for no good reason. If anyone from Hilton sees this, please reconsider these lights or at least give guests the ability to turn them off. I would never stay here again and it makes me question the decision making of the entire chain. read more
