Stayed in room 339. Seems newly renovated. Bed and pillows comfy. Bathroom is small. Indoor pool and hot tubs were clean but area needs painted or updated badly. Sauna was slow to heat up but worked. Gym is worthless, 6 old pieces of equipment in a closet. Lots of parking and close to restaurants and shops. Hopefully they will update more things now that they just got bought out by AmericInn. Used to be the Bavarian Haus. Price was totally worth it for what stuff costs these days. read more

Sad the HAUS has 4 star potential First and only time staying here at the Haus, Checked in on 4th July by two nice young ladies working the front office. Unfortunately one of them had to come clean our room that had been reserved 3 weeks prior to our arrival. When I checked out on July 6th the woman in glasses sitting in the front office looked up from her reading when I told her room ### checking out she said ok and went back to reading. I have stayed in some shady hotels and 5 star hotels yet this is first time not being inquired about the stay. I counted 9 live spiders in our room and too many dead mosquitoes to count. The white linens were different shades of yellow comparing one pillow to another and had stains on them, as did the blankets. All of them. It smelled like there had been smoking in the room and I'm not sure if the grout in the bathroom had been cleaned in 30 years. Here's the thing, these days ya get what you pay for. This hotel was less than $150 a night in northern Michigan in July. Is the hotel old and has it fallen into a worn disrepair? Yes. Is it clean? No, not so much. The staff is friendly. It was affordable for someone who isn't living the high life and it's a very pretty view. What could be improved? They could do a better job cleaning. Honestly and really. The rest not a lot without a major renovation instead of what they did which was to add cheap new hotel furnishings to that frankly would change the price point. read more

We stayed here for the first time over the weekend and it t was very enjoyable. The room was very comfortable and you could see they had started to redo parts do the room. The view was amazing and made the price of the room more worth it. Being on the ground floor we had some issues with the floor not being level, so the bathroom door was hard to open. Trash can in the pool area made me want to vomit. Hopefully they use some of those pet fees to buy a new one. I don't mind old as long as it's clean. May sound Redonkulous but I wouldn't use the pool because of this. The place does have a million dollar view but all the waterfront places there do. Might stay again if I didn't have a pet and it was the only place with vacancy. There might be a few pet owners that are idiots and don't clean up poo but believe me them charging that much I wanted to leave his poo for them to clean up. I'd never do that though. read more

Booked 2 rooms their check-in is at 4pm not 3pm, then at 4:30pm I called them to see what's the latest we can check-in, she said anytime before 10pm if you're coming for sure, then my 90 years old mom wasn't feeling well so I called to cancel, I was told to contact priceline, which I did, they canceled pending hotel confirmation of cancelation., suddenly I received an email from the hotel refusing the refund. The manager's name is Ed, he hung up the phone white talking about this with him. I asked for the general manager Sara which I will call & speak with tomorrow to report Ed's arrogant attitude and disrespect to an elderly client who would never reserve there, it seems like they don't want to make it good for repeated visitors to the island. We usually book at Holiday Inn which is couple of miles away, but because of my 90 years old mom we wanted to be close to the island strip. read more

If I can give this a ZERO, I would! This was the most unprofessional, racist and illiterate phone encounter I've ever experienced by so called the supervisor/manager ELENOR! I am traveling from Illinois for a relaxing getaway after long weeks of work and working for the government is not the easiest. I am currently on my way to Michigan a state that my husband and I always travel to but our ETA is approximately an hour past midnight which was not planned (traffic). I called the Inn to inquire about my late arrival to my reservation and well, ELENOR stated, WE WILL NOT ACCOMMODATE YOUR REQUEST! You think we're going to wait for YOU people to get here past closing time? I expressed my concerns about her unprofessionalism and she just simply did not care! Kept being incompetent with her customer service/hospitality communication as a supervisor/manager. I don't understand why those kind of people work in a place of hospitality I should've known that the reviews were correct! Elenor then stated that she "IS JUST GOING TO CANCEL MY RESERVATION BUT STILL CHARGE ME". I am currently using my communication skills to figure out the local owner to this business and make this known! Unacceptable in so many levels. We stopped here to get some beach time in for the kids before continuing North. The lakefront was great: lots of playground, sand, hammocks, kayaks, etc. The kids loved it and you can just sit and relax with a beer while theh run wild within your line of site. Bavarian Haus I booked this hotel because of its location on the beach. Each room has its own balcony with fantastic sights and sounds of Lake Huron. We were hoping to take advantage of the chairs on our balcony but it was just too cold and windy. The hotel is dated but we found it to be comfortable, clean, and it suited our needs. We really stayed here for the view and we feel that we got our money's worth. My husband and I each got a coupon good for ten dollars to be used at the local casino. I turned my coupon into thirty three dollars.....my husband didn't. Had we wanted another coupon the guy that checked us in said he would give us each another one the next day but my husband had no desire to visit that casino again. Breakfast was nothing fancy and I didn't much care for it but my husband loved their waffles which were prepackaged and just needed heating. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and we had none of the issues that other travelers have reported. We would stay here again. read more

We booked a room at the Bavarian Haus Lakefront Inn and were so satisfied with our visit. The facilities were a little out-dated but very clean and well cared for. Our room was very comfortable and had a balcony which overlooked the beach. The beach area was super close and was pretty private. The facility offers complementary kayaking and provides life vests and oars. We also received passes for free-play at the local casino. There are discounted tickets for the ferry to Mackinac Island, complementary shuttles to the ferry dock and the casinos that run regularly. The facility also offered a very nice complementary breakfast (both hot and cold items). It was better than I expected and they even offered outdoor balcony seating in that dining area. Lastly, the staff was awesome. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was reasonably priced and we got more than we expected with this visit. Certainly one of the more affordable options but it was clean, had a nice view of the lake, decent breakfast each morning and a discount on the ferry over to Mac Island....along with a free shuttle to the ferry each way!! I vow to come back to Bavarian Haus during the warmer months. This was a very comfortable independent Inn and with a surprising pleasant rate. Everyone is raving about the view. Every room faces Lake Huron. I actually couldn't wait for early morning so I could watch the sky light up while sipping coffee and viewing through the large patio style window which faces a deck with table and chairs. It was too cold to sit outside but I had a spectacular view from inside. The pool area was closed and appears to be in the rebuilding stage. There was absolute quiet all night, of course it's not real busy in the off-season, but just the same, no noisy highway, no obnoxious guests, no noisy niteclubs nearby. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful and on my way out I promised to be back when I can plan a trip and stay longer and see more of St. Ignace. read more

I really was in love with the comments along with looks of the outside. The out back area was nice minus the seagull/Geese poop all over the place. You really have to watch where you step but once your down at the water it's lovely. Renting two rooms one was on the bottom floor as the other was on the next flight up having a balcony. Sad to say these rooms are a little over priced. The bottom floor I stayed in once we started taking luggage downstairs it smelt very musky. We opened up the room and the air was stale so we opened up the window and back door to air out the room. That was not enough so I sprayed some body spray around which helped mask everything else. The room was very dark unless you open the window so if you are Count Dacula by all means you will not be burned. My other party members said they loved the 2nd floor till about 5am when they heard seagulls along with rain beating down. I guess I lucked out not having a balcony room at a additional 30 dollars. Beds were decent so everyone got a good night's sleep. The pool and hot tubs were nice so we all enjoyed those amenities. We did not use the shuddle service so I can not comment on that but saw them show up. Breakfast was filling but everyone joked about the horrible waffles in plastic wrappers. Needs updating for sure but we really had a great time here. The service was great. Everyone was kind. The beach was right out behind our room. We woke up early every day we were there and watched the sun rise over the water. Breakfast was good and we ate on the deck with a view of the lake. So beautiful! The place was clean. They had lots to do on the beachfront! Kayaking, games, hammocks and more all included! You could literally just stay at the hotel all day and have fun. Everything in the room worked well. All rooms face the water and have a mini fridge and balcony to watch the sunsets. They also have two whirlpools an an indoor pool. Used to be a Days Inn. Dirty and old. This waterfront hotel has goose excrement everywhere on the grass and sand. You can't walk on the beach or the grass without stepping on it. The rocks under the first section of water off the beach are hard and painful. It's nature, so I'm forgiving, but for a hotel with so many rooms and a beachfront only twenty yards long, some grooming would be reasonable to expect. That's the outside of the hotel. The inside of the hotel is equally aged, fading and dirty. Most prominent is the carpeting that, as conveyed from its style, desperately needs to be replaced. The bird waste on the grass and the lack of rugs on which to wipe feet means the bird excrement works its way into the hotel all the time. The facilities are depressing. The pool is small, dark and over chlorinated. The hot tub is tiny. I've seen larger hot tubs in master bedrooms in suburban home. The service is incompetent. The people at the front desk couldn't answer basic questions about the ferry options from St Ignace to Mackinac Island. read more

We spent two nights here so we could take the ferry from St Ignace to Mackinac Island. Although the exterior was dated, our room was clean and mostly renovated. Thankfully, the old school a/c worked pretty well. Nothing about the place reminded me of a Bavarian Inn, it was more reminiscent of a nice place built in the early 80s. The front desk staff was professional, the cleaning lady was friendly and super helpful. Our original towels could have passed for sandpaper, but the helpful cleaning lady hooked us up with softer, more absorbent towels. Four years ago we stayed at the Budget Inn, and the Bavarian Haus was a huge improvement. We may stay here again, but thinking of trying the Holiday Inn next time we're in town. We paid about $200/night. I think about $60-70 night is priced into the spectacular view of Lake Huron because otherwise I don't think the room would rate that high of a price. The beach looked nice from our room, but the abundant goose poop everywhere deterred us from really letting our little ones play much out there. Final note, the indoor pool looked clean & felt good. read more

We loved our stay at this cute little hotel with our son who was 7. He enjoyed the pool and the fun activities on the private beach. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. You will want to invest in water shoes because of the rocks on the beach and in the water. It was quiet at night for the most part but there was some people who were smoking cigarettes and marijuana on the property/balcony which was strong smelling. The refrigerator is small so be prepared not to bring too much to keep in there. Breakfast was not included like they claimed it was on the booking website due to COVID. They did provide a brown bag with breakfast bars. Overall it was a great and clean and cozy room to spend a week at. The swing set and hammocks were an added bonus for our son and he made 2 friends while we got to relax for a bit. The a/c cold didn't really circulate in the second room with the couch. So keep the doors open over night. Two TVs in both rooms as well with cable. Staff was friendly upon arrival. read more

Grout in bathroom needs a good scrub and this had nothing to do with COVID. You can tell it's been years since it's been cleaned properly. I felt like I didn't want to walk in bathroom bare foot. One complaint was the guests were allowed to get too rowdy. One evening a couple were taking provocative pics out on the beach, posing sexually and at one post exposing her breasts. We stayed three nights and every night it sounded like a party was taking place above us - walking and stomping on floors for hours. Someone was knocking on our door around 2 am and when we got up to look, no one was there. Last night there, a storm blew in and people were gathered at outside veranda blasting music and yelling/screaming which is pretty bad - being able to hear all that over a thunderstorm with waves crashing. Needless to say, I didn't get much relaxation. While I enjoy partying, this was TOO much. Location was decent - right next to a restaurant. Nice casino shuttle pickup area with seating. Towels left out on motorcycle in morning for us to wipe off dew which was greatly appreciated. read more

Nice family owned hotel, with every room right on the lakefront over looking Mackinaw Island. Very friendly and helpful staff. They do offer free shuttle service to any of the ferry services, as well as the Casino. Make sure you ask about the Money Bags deal, it is only $10, and it saved us a ton on many of the popular sites around the area. Our room was very clean when we arrived, and throughout our stay. The free breakfast had a great selection of cold and hot foods. We did not get a chance to try the indoor pool and hot tubs, but the facility was very nice and centrally located within the inn. If you can deal with the TV being outdated like we were able to, then you will enjoy your stay. Can't wait to stay here again on our next visit! I really expected to give this place a positive review. I felt that we knew what to expect, outdated but great view. We loved the view. The beds are horribly stiff. Overall it seemed clean, especially the bathroom, which I appreciate. We stayed one night. Late that night we noticed that someone upstairs was taking a shower. We knew this by hearing a very audible drip above the bathroom area ceiling. In the morning, we heard the drip a few more times with subsequent showers. But in the light of day we could see very visible water damage that was recently painted over (as evidenced by paint smudges on the wallpaper). It appears that they are covering up the damage without fixing the problem. Not something you want to see when you're allergic to mold and have asthma. At this point I walked around the corner to speak to my husband and noticed the box spring for the first time. There was a gigantic stain that was the color of blood across the top and side of it. I have no doubt that this is also known to hotel staff because someone had to put the cover over it (that had slipped off overnight and revealed the stain to us). Pretty extremely gross. Pictures to follow. We did make mention to staff when we checked out and provided pictures. We were comped, which we appreciated. But the staff did not appear too concerned with the situation, I felt placated at best. I would rather stay at a hotel where the quality and safety and cleanliness are more of a priority in the future. read more
