The even offered for a wake up call for the complementary breakfast which starts at 5:30am. The breakfast area is quite large with many options to choose from. The room we stayed in was a king size and it comes with a larger style fridge, microwave, coffee pot, desk, and lounge. The room was big enough to throw up a pack and play for our daughter to sleep in, and they even fetched us another pillow for her with quickly. You also have a desk area, closet and drawers which are nice and deep. Plenty of USB charging ports around the room so no need for a charging block if you forgot one. My only complaint is the bathtubs. Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL! There is not grip on the bottom of the tubs making them very slippery. I threw down a towel in the bottom for my daughter to help her sit without falling but even that didn't help because she still slipped on the tub and smacked her face on the side of the tub. And then my husband went to take a shower and almost fell getting out and there's no bars in the shower to even help assist you from falling. The only bar is on the outside next to the toilet, which isn't very easy to access since you can't get out right there because the toilets in the way.

We put a "no housekeeping sign" on the door and were informed by the front desk that they "have to come in at least once a week to change towels and bedding". I told them I will get them when I need them and they said it is the head housekeepers policy. My coworker caved and let them in the room and then one of the housekeepers stole some of their things. The housekeepers were loudly talking about us out in the hall one morning and said "I don't understand why they don't want housekeeping in the room, if you don't want someone in your room, you shouldn't stay in a hotel". The housekeepers are constantly heard in the hallways using the F word and yelling loudly down the hall to bring them things..completely unprofessional. We constantly were worried that housekeeping was going to come in and pilfer through our things even though we had a sign on the door. The walls in the hotel are paper thin and you constantly hear doors slamming and people in the halls. I would only stay here if I HAD no other options. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

We ate a huge dinner at the Gasthof, drove ten minutes to our room and took a nap. You might do the same. The family who run this motel are friendly. Many of the folks who stay here are traveling workers. They were quiet and respectful, go to bed early and leave for early shifts. We smelled some delicious BBQ someone was making on an outdoor grill. The fridge in our room is unusually large for in a motel. Make sure to plug it in if you stay here. The A/C works great.

The outside isn't as fancy as the inside. It's the inside that matters to me. The third surprise was the powerful hot shower to unwind. The 4th was the powerful A/C that cooled the room in minutes. The furniture on the second floor is old and the springs are shot in the chairs and need service. The rooms have dingy furniture and the tables although functional are stained and scared. At $100 a night during the off season you might ignore this but at $150 and above during the rest of the year it seems wanting. Additionally there is ZERO maid service. Stay a week stay two weeks be prepared to ask for clean sheets as they won't be offered. Be prepared to strip your own bed and no they will not provide a sweeper or a vacuum nor will they pick up your room at all. Best bet change rooms. Insult to injury Despite absolutely ZERO maid service this is the only hotel that comes with an envelope explaining how the maids would like you to give them a tip for their troubles. I that really made me cringe.

West Baden has now become a regular family destination. My family -- plus my mom, stepdad, siblings…read moreand their families -- just finished our second trip here. And it's safe to say that West Baden is now a family tradition. My parents spent a few days there to celebrate their anniversary, and then the kids all came to stay the last night, during Easter weekend. And we made the most of it. We started with bowling and pizza at the new Ballard's at the Atrium (see my review on that). My older niece then watched all the kids in one of the hotel rooms, while the adults got a drink in the expansive atrium and enjoyed looking up at the picturesque dome ceiling. The next morning, which was Easter, we found a quiet sitting area on our floor to have an Easter egg hunt with all the kids. These are memories we will cherish. We popped over to French Lick for brunch, though the Easter brunch set up in the atrium definitely looked delicious too. The staff is always excellent. We were able to call and get all of our rooms next to each other, which helped. Thanks for another fabulous mini-vacation, West Baden!

They have many free amenities that most no longer do - no resort fee, no parking fee, free shuttle to the sister hotel and downtown. Add in amenities closer to a luxury property - evening music, nice indoor pool almost always open, and obviously just being in the unique dome... This is a winner. We found the service to be consistently friendly. We had no issues with getting help for our large amount of stuff at check in or check out. Very nice to our dog and he got a lot of treats for the pet fee. Dining service was on the slower side but seemed to fit the vibe. We stayed in a suite with two queens. It was large. The furniture was on the worn side but well maintained. Nice to see unique furnishings vs generic all white everywhere. Plenty for the kids to do. We enjoyed the newly restored bowling alley and found it nicer than the same priced one at French Lick Hotel. We did like going to French Lick for the shopping and to read about the history. There is a lot about the history everywhere, including the small museum (a large room) in the hotel. We were very happy and would like to return.

The rooms are the best maintained I've in town across several work trips, the front desk, attendees are polite, helpful, and courteous, and it's located right in the middle of everything. It offers a large waiting pool, hot breakfast, and clean eggs, biscuits, sausage, waffles, and all the rest, and fresh, hot coffee, and cookies at the front are a nice touch. The downsides of noticed are that the sheets and beds, well comfortable pillow tops, seem to likely be synthetic and have me feeling confusingly, sweaty even with the air conditioner turned on, and the fitness room is long overdue for some very basic maintenance: the cable machine only has one side that works because the adjustment is broken on the other, and the weight bench adjustment knob has fallen off, keeping it flat and making a lot of exercise exercises not possible. Nonetheless, the pool is quite nice and large, and two treadmills, and elliptical, and a peloton spin bike are available.

The hotel overall is somewhat dated and is in need of a facelift. The room was the standard Hampton Inn room: bed / bath, TV and a refrigerator and a desk area to work at, if needed. Room was in good shape. Bed was comfy enough and the heat worked. Hot water took a little bit of time to get going and on the last day, the water suddenly lost pressure and dribbled out of the shower - thankfully I was just finished or I would have not been a happy camper. Bath sink was draining extremely slow so I mentioned it to the front desk and by the time I returned to the room that afternoon the problem was completely solved. Very good response on that. They have a free breakfast bar in the mornings and although it is nothing gourmet, it will get you up and going without adding to the cost of your trip. The front desk also have Grab-n-go breakfast bags in the event you are in a hurry to get to where you are going Overall a solid place to stay if in the area. Plenty of parking available.

The room is very basic (size of a motel room). We did receive a lovely card with chocolates for our anniversary, which was unexpected and very appreciated. Our room was tiny, without any amenities. The TV and electricity blinked multiple times and eventually we had to have a repair person come take a look. We heard little kids running the halls and talking loudly (no sound proofing at all). Thankfully we brought earbuds. The food was nothing to write home about. We ate at the steakhouse for a special dinner, but found the food to be mediocre. The atmosphere was nice. Prices matched fine dining/resort pricing. Husband's steak was bland, and his lobster bisque was barely room temp. My lobster mac and cheese was dry, I chose it as an entree because I didn't want a huge entree, it did have several chunks of meat and the Gouda sauce was creamy on the bottom of the dish. The brussel sprouts were warm, while the asparagus was not. The breakfast buffet the following morning was Golden Corral adjacent. The omelette station was the best food of the entire stay! Granted, I had high expectations after a wonderful visit to West Baden, the sister property one mile down the road, but was greatly disappointed. I'm aware this beautiful resort is a timeless spot to visit, but I don't think it meets the hype at all!!!! Very disappointed.

It seems like it was updated within the last couple of years, with a nice, comfortable bed, and furnishings mostly in good condition. On my criticisms, I am *really* nitpicking here: The only downside, which I noted was mentioned in another review from a few months ago was that cleanliness could've been a tiny bit better. Nothing that gave me the "ick" but the shower definitely needed to have the caulking stripped out and replaced because there was some mildew under it, in spite of it appearing to have been cleaned pretty well otherwise with no water spots and everything wiped down aside from a few tiny spots in corners. The air conditioner was also a bit noisier than it should've been, with a slightly slow sink. To summarize: felt pretty darn, clean and well-maintained, but fell just short of being "five stars" at this price level. My room had a absolutely gorgeous view of the river, and the hotel itself is located within a few minutes of the town center, and a number of restaurants here and within 15 minutes at the next town over.
