This place doesn't deserve a single star, I can't believe it is still standing. Do not, DO NOT stay here under any circumstances. You literally could not pay me enough money to sleep here or allow anyone I love to. It is all but a homeless/temporary housing/COVID/rehab shelter housing with significant health and safety concerns and should not be open to the public. Take the reviews that are a few years old with a grain of salt- things can decline incredibly fast. Very sad- this used to be such a nice place. This is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff goes out of their way to make sure your every need is met. The room was the cleanest I have ever seen. The breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel Milk, three juices, regular yogurt, greek yogurt, gormet coffee, tea, waffles, eggs, canadian bacon, biscuits and gravy, corn beef hash, muffins, pastries and more. The pool is crystal clear and the spa relaxing. The excercise room is full of state of the art equipment. Parking is excellent and the rooms are quiet. The manager... Mian is friendly and extremely considerate. The staff lives to exceed your every need. I travel on buisness and pleasure year round. I stay at the finest hotels and I have never had a more enjoyable hotel experience than I did at this hotel. I almost forgot to mention their beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. My stay was on business nut I left more relaxed than any vacation I have been on. I cant say enough about this place. Its like being in Mayberry. They make you feel at home and cater to you. They are friendly as family. The short answer folks is this place is a bargain at four times the price. Its an experience that Im gratefull to have had. I would NOT recommend staying here. As we drove up to the hotel, we saw tons of furniture, mattresses, and furnishings sitting outside on the front lawn. Never any acknowledgement from hotel management as to what was going on - if they were renovating, etc. It looked like an eviction was taking place. Then you walk through the main entrance and see several large area rugs rolled up sitting in the middle of the lobby. Then you get to your room... and it smells like urine. The guest room doors have post-it notes on them stating "King" or "Queen / Queen" and the door wouldn't latch closed unless you slammed it. Our double queen room was so small and tight you had to take turns getting from one end to the other. Bathroom was gross - none of the drains were functional. The window drapes were busted, the TV didn't work. We were there out of necessity for two nights - no housekeeping at all (which was actually fine with us, this is the kind of place that would probably loot the room while you're gone). We had 3 towels in the room, on day 2 when it was time to shower and needed more towels, there was no one working at the front (or really anywhere, ever), so we had to just go into the laundry room and take them ourselves. The pool was murky and cloudy. Hot tub didn't work either (shocker). As you walked through the hallways you could see several unused rooms wide open - jammed with all kinds of furniture, water heaters, linens, etc. Looked like an episode of hoarders in these vacant rooms. You could also see all the junk pushed up against the windows from the front of the hotel. I have no idea what was going on there - but overall it was a creepy, smelly, and gross experience. We did not approach hotel management to ask for a discount or anything - we were forced to stay there due to other circumstances and so we limited our time in the hotel as much as possible and got the heck out of there as fast as we could! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! One of the two worst hotels I've ever stayed in, and I traveled for a living for almost 12 years. Where to start? Flies swarming throughout the room and dead flies on the A/C unit and on the carpeting, which did not get vacuumed during our 3-day, 2-night stay; stained, thin towels; lumpy old mattress that had to be 30 years old (impressions from where everyone else has slept for the past several decades); filthy stained carpet in all of the common areas, stains on the walls, bags of garbage left in the hallway during the entire duration of our stay; an outlet with no face plate in the hallway upstairs (small safety issue); did I mention FLIES? The ice machine didn't work, nor did the vending machine. Also felt like I was crashing the party every time we entered or exited the hotel lobby, as guests (or heaven forbid employees or their family & friends?) were camped just outside of the main entry doors, smoking, cussing, fighting, and listening to loud music every day...the place felt so dirty and uncomfortable I thought about sleeping in my car the second night. Couldn't get a different hotel reservation nearby so toughed it out. No exaggerations here, DO NOT STAY at the Baymont Inn in Waunakee! read more

This place is DISGUSTING. There was a snot wipe on the mattress where someone clearly allowed their child to wipe boogers on the bed! There was a dirty, USED band-aid on the floor, bugs (silver fish, I think?) in the shower at night, and mysterious wet spots on the carpet! Gross! We come to town a few times about twice a year and I will absolutely not be staying here again. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere! read more

Lola was awful. Called in morning told them I needed to check in early as wedding started at 3p said should be fine. Got to hotel saw a couple smoking outside main entrance sitting in chairs. Went to desk no one there. Waited. Called hotel nothing. Went outside guy still smoking. Went in called phone again Lola came down from 2nd floor. Told me check in is At 3 pm no exceptions. Had to drive to a friends home to change and get ready. Mean while The brides Mom texted me told me The hotel lost 7 reservations but talked to Chris whom Lola called in early to work and he at least let me have keys to my room so I could get in after wedding at 12p. No waste basket in room shower faucet handle fell off. Checking out again no one at front desk. Back door had rock in to keep it held open found this twice. Not a very secure place. read more

Gross! From the stained carpets to the dirty walls and three day old garbage in the hallway, this is not a good place to stay. Our towels were stained, the toilet seat was missing one attachment bolt so it slid all over, The clientele made the outdoor seating area their own personal party spot with cigarettes, foul language, and music coming from a nearby parked car with its windows open. And not a single mask to be seen, except for the manager AFTER I commented and reminded him that the state enacted a mandatory mask mandate. The staff we spoke with projected an attitude of helpfulness, but they couldn't overcome the back door which was propped open with a piece of mulch all night, an electric outlet in our hallway without a cover, someone's cell phone charger plugged in overnight outside their room. Oh, when a room says "no smoking" does that apply to marijuana, too? Not for some people here! read more

I read these reviews ahead of time but A) I didn't think it could be THAT bad B) it was the only hotel in the area so we booked a room. Checked in and headed up to our room. Before entering our room I didn't think anything was terrible... just dated and not cared for. We entered our room and instantly noticed the AC was set as low as possible and it was freezing. That's often a sneaky method of covering up odors. We turned on the lights and from a distant look it wasn't terrible. Then... I went to put luggage by the side of bed and noticed bloody snot on the wall. Then, reluctantly, I pulled the sheets off to see a mattress that had been repeatedly covered in bodily fluids. My friend did the same and noticed small blood spots on the white sheets which often means BEDBUGS. After just a few minutes we noticed a weird smell that probably was someone smoking in an adjacent room. The last straw was when we found a tampon hugged up against the backboard of one of the beds. We took our stuff and left. Guy at front desk clearly had been through this routine before. He was nice but still acted shocked... really dude? Have you read these reviews? Anyways I was NEVER issued a refund. If you go here use a credit card so you can dispute the charges. We ended up driving down to Madison. Plenty of options there. read more

Waunakee's own Baymont Inn and Suites provides amenities you won't find anywhere else, including the following: -A torn-up second floor still somehow open to the public (rugs and mattresses strewn about, renovation equipment and microwaves sitting in the hallway) -A pair of large shears left in the middle of the hallway- presumably (hopefully) by a construction worker -Peeling bathroom wallpaper hiding a hole through which wasps enter -A television with a cord that runs from the wall to the cable box, but no cord that runs from the cable box to the TV (they didn't have any more cords) -Lobby furniture likely donated from a frat house after 10+ years of heavy abuse We felt bad for the desk employees- this would not be an easy place to work! I would recommend sneaking into the back of the Waun-A-Bowl and sleeping behind the lanes for a more peaceful experience. read more

We originally booked a king suite with hot tub in room. We were down graded without notice to a queen because they didn't clean the room I had booked and paid for already. This queen room came with someone else's pubes in the shower. I spoke to both the manager available upon check-in and check-out. I was told we'd get an adjusted rate due to the $30 difference in rooms. All we got was $10.00 off so I ended up paying $93.02 for a queen bed with pubes in the shower. I've tried to reach out to management a few times today already about my stay and getting things fixed but they can't seam to bother doing anything about it. Horrid customer service!! Would not ever recommend even as a quick pit stop on your way through. read more

Don't stay here. The two reviews below me are spot on. The staff is lazy and unwilling to help. I checked in at 7pm and he told me the cleanup staff hadn't finished cleaning my room yet, AT 7PM! What a joke. The hotel is hot when you walk into the lobby so I knew my room was going to be warm, but the fact my AC unit can't cool it down is unacceptable! I asked for a fan so I could at least sleep cause it was 78degrees in my room and he didn't know if they had one and then just never called back to confirm. Rooms are smelly and just not what you want to pay $100 a night for. Find another hotel I urge you, there are also no good restaurants near the hotel. read more

I have traveled all over the world, camped in a tent and slept on rock hard ground. However, I have NEVER had such a horrible experience as my "almost stay" at this Baymont Inn in Waunaukee, and wish I had read the reviews before booking the rooms. No matter what you read on yelp or anywhere else, please heed this warning: this place is a disaster and you should never, under any circumstances stay here. You'd be better off sleeping in your car or the nearby park on a bench. The person at the front desk was friendly, and after we checked in and went to our rooms, we found that our fridge had old food in it from previous guests, the trash hadn't been emptied, and the toilet paper roll was empty. The toilet seat was loose, and the floor felt sticky. The other room had a hole in the wall of the shower, a huge stain on the carpet and smelled as if someone had been smoking in it. We went to the pool, which was dirty. The water was cloudy, it was too hot and there was a mass of hair floating in the water. We then returned to our rooms and got ready to go to sleep. The towel I grabbed off of the rack to dry my hands had a smear of blood on it. When I pulled back the bedding, there was PUBIC hair on the sheets. Not just one hair, several hairs. I checked bed number two and found that the sheets were dirty, as well. The person at the front desk was very accommodating and said that they had fired a housekeeper earlier that day and they would move us to different rooms and reduce our rate. Second set of rooms: Smelled a little funny, but the person at the front desk assured us that she and the manager had just changed the bedding in both rooms (she had dirty sheets in her hands while talking with us outside the room). The beds were at least twenty years old and flatter than a pancake, but it was 9:30 p.m. and we had a funeral the next day. The rooms we had originally reserved were for 2 queen size beds, and these were doubles, but we were tired and just wanted to go to sleep. The bedding appeared clean, but when we turned the pillows over one was smeared with lipstick and the other looked like someone stepped on it with dirty shoes. We promptly began packing up and called the Days Inn in Waunaukee. As were were getting our belongings together, my 15 year old son checked under the bed. I wish he hadn't, because he found soda bottles, candy wrappers, cereal and the packaging from a sex toy. This is not something I was prepared to explain to my son the night before my sister's funeral. We didn't even bother taking the shampoo, because it was used by the previous guest and was virtually empty. We left at 10:15 pm, and while my husband was getting our money refunded, we went out of the side door closest to our car. The door was not secured, but was partially open, which would have allowed anyone to enter. We tried pushing the door closed, but it would not shut all of the way. According to my husband, the person at the desk appeared "not right," as if she was under the influence. We'll never know, because we will never be back. Please ignore the ratings that are higher than a one star, because these people clearly did not look under the bed. read more

Do not stay here! I was quoted for a room for $30 less then what they charged my credit card and of course they "forgot" to send me a confirmation email after I had booked the room. Another guest that stayed the same night I did had her credit card charged twice! I was staying there for a wedding and multiple guests had a receptionist tell us that they couldn't find the block of rooms we were looking for when we tried to initially book the rooms and we all were told different prices ( I know there was a block of rooms reserved and the price they should've been because the bride showed me the invoice they gave her) They also failed to give the bride and groom their "honeymoon suite" and two guests that attended the wedding had it. Only positive about this hotel is that our king size room was a good size. read more

This is a example of how not to run a hotel! I stayed there for two days and it was hands down the worst hotel I have ever stayed at for so many reasons! The customer service is a total joke we had many rooms and half way through checking people in there credit card system just stopped working. They then made everyone pay in cash to check in. When you go to the front desk there is almost never anyone there you pick up a phone that rings the phone on the other side of the desk. There was 3 bottles of conditioner in my room no shampoo or lotion and in my buddies room he had 3 bottles of lotion in another friends room he had a half used bottle of shampoo and conditioner only. You could not use the phones to call down there was no buttons on them. The bed was so lumpy you could actually see the lumps in it. I made the mistake of looking under the bed when I left to make sure nothing had gotten under and it was totally disgusting with old food and wrappers. Never have I had such a universally negative experience at a hotel. I was beyond shocked at the incompetence and level of rudeness of the staff at this establishment. It reached such absurd levels that I was waiting for someone to come out and tell us we were on some sort of prank-themed TV show. My wife and I reserved a block of 25 rooms for our guests 4 months before our wedding. We had confirmation numbers for the block itself and each guest in our party had confirmation emails and numbers for their individual rooms and dates. However, apparently these confirmation numbers don't amount to much. On the Thursday before our wedding, my parents, three siblings and their significant others, and my wife's brother and uncles arrived to check in, but we were informed that the hotel had cancelled each of their reservations. It took nearly an hour to confirm whether or not ANY of our wedding guests arriving the next day would have their reservations honored. They eventually managed this by reading us the names of every single person staying at the hotel that weekend (yikes). They were finally able to find two rooms for my wife's family, but my eight-person immediate family had to call around to every hotel in the area to find any available rooms. Not only did the front desk not help with this process, they are now hanging up every time the new hotel calls to discuss sharing the cost of honoring the original reservation rate. All in all, it took two full hours to resolve this debacle, and NOT ONCE did any hotel staff apologize. The closest we got was the assistant manager, Mike, joking that we should stay in a camper, or the woman at the front desk telling us, "well, I guess you're just out of luck." Trouble with this hotel of course continued after the failed check-ins as well. My brother-in-law returned to his room Friday afternoon to find someone had packed his suitcase and returned it to the front desk. Apparently after two hours of troubleshooting yesterday, the front desk did not understand that he had been looking for a room to stay for the entire wedding weekend. My wife's aunt had trouble with her toilet and was handed a plunger to deal with it herself. Since her room was never cleaned during her four-night stay, no one ever reclaimed the plunger. It may very well still be there. When my cousin and her eight-month-old baby had trouble with their toilet, they were told to "try harder"? Despite the manager's previous promise that they would run two shuttles to and from our venue, we were told on Friday that they were too short-staffed. To be fair, they did decide to honor this promise a few hours before the ceremony on Saturday, but at such short notice our guests had already made other plans (and were likely afraid of the shuttle never returning for them). My wife and I checked in ourselves on Saturday night. We seemingly had gotten lucky as (for the first time) there was someone already at the front desk! He looked up from his cellphone long enough to ask us "you the bride and groom?" but apparently not long enough to register the fact that we are both women. His only other words were "there's no jacuzzi," which was fine given the fact that when we arrived in the room, the regular bathtub had enough grime streaked up the sides that we weren't exactly inclined to have a seat. Even if we were, there were no towels in the room and our cellphone-loving friend at the front desk preferred not to answer the hotel phone. "Luckily" for us, they apparently don't lock the hotel pool, so we borrowed enough pool towels to get through the night. As a final, charming parting gift, when my brother-in-law checked out, he was greeted with a heavily sighed, "I thought you people had already left." All in all, I would advice any potential future guests of this hotel to reconsider. You would likely get better service if you went down to a Walmart and bought a tent to sleep in their parking lot. Coleman is my preferred brand, but really any will do. read more

Under new ownership very recently, the Baymont is a marked improvement from when we stayed there several years ago. It is currently a work in progress and the change from what it was is astounding. The rooms are CLEAN; the air is pure; the staff (all of it) is friendly and dedicated to insuring a pleasant stay for their clients. Their "can do, how can we help" attitude is a refreshing difference from prior staff members. It suffuses into the guests as they greet other guests with a smile and a hearty hello. As I said earlier, this is a work in progress. There, one might encounter a glitch or two in your stay. But have no fear, a brief word to any staff member will elicit a sincere apology and an instant correction of the difficulty. Breakfast is a little sparse, but totally adequate in comparison with most motels that we have visited. Although we used neither, the pool and "workout room" appeared well maintained and adequately equipped. I second everything Becca Z. and Jim D. have said. This was the scariest hotel I've ever (almost) stayed at! Fortunately I was able to find somewhere else to stay within a few hours of arriving at the Baymont. I didn't even let the front desk know I wasn't staying; they were nowhere to be found to begin with and I was scared enough to just GET OUT OF THERE! The hotel decor has been STRIPPED. Look at the website's photos of the hotel lobby. See the furniture, curtains, etc.? It's all gone. The hotel looks as if it were once decent, but went bankrupt and was sold to a private owner. Vending machines have been ripped out to leave weird deserted spaces in the hallways to hang out in. In fact, the whole hotel felt deserted. Broken items in the room, missing pieces to appliances, missing phone buttons! The volume on the TV remote did not work, nor did the power button. Banged up furniture, bent bed frame; I was too scared to turn down the sheets. Under the bed were wrappers and crumbs. A wet, mildew smell permeated the building; most likely from the indoor pool. The way-too-hot and hairy pool was a first for me. Now, I love a warm pool but this had to be at least 99 degrees. The silver lining was I could swim around the patches of hair as long as I paid attention. There are so many more creepy observations I could add to this hotel review. While there, I thought maybe if I just sat on top of the bed and watched the door all night I might live until the next day. I'm glad I was able to find an alternative! read more

We had a block of rooms reserved for Fri/Sat for my daughter's wedding. A few of us had booked an additional night starting Thursday night. When we showed up with confirmation numbers they said we didn't have a room. Neither did my sons and a few others in the wedding party. Mike the asst mgr was rude and unhelpful. Never offered any apology and said this happens all the time. At one point he called some guy named Tony and they laughed about setting up a camper in the parking lot. Brilliant customer service to laugh in front of a pissed off customer when the hotel screwed up. I found another Baymont to stay. I told Mike to call that Baymont and tell them we were coming and that he was going to get us the same rate at that hotel as he would have charged us. He called them and told the new place what rate to charge us and that he would take care of the difference. The next day the ops mgr from the new place tried to call Mike to figure out how to settle up, Mike avoided the calls and would let the phone ring and ring. There so much more crap about this place that I could tell. Rooms not cleaned, no towels, no pillowcases on pillows, trash not taken out. Based on Mikes performance it is clear this is the worst managed hotel I have ever seen. Worst customer service in any industry I've seen. read more

This hotel was previously Country Inn & Suites and now it has been Baymont Inn & Suites. With new franchise and new owner and management, it has brought a lot of nicer changes and upgrades to the hotel. We visit Waunakee every year due to family visit and stay here every time and always happy with the service. They have always allowed early check in. It is a calm place to stay. Like the hot tub and heated pool. Breakfast is good. Culver's across the parking lot is a plus too. read more

The person we called answered the phone rude, and came to the desk as if we were bothering her. When asked for sheets for the pull out sofa, she went to the laundry room and handed us sheets rolled up. Would not take them since they appeared unclean. When I left the manager several message regarding customer service, he would not return my call. Upon check out, the manager charged us for two additional nights. My in-laws, who also stayed at this hotel, were charged three additional nights at the hotel. The manager was extremely rude and inappropriate when attempting to get a refund for overcharges. I had to go through Baymont corporate office for a refund, which took weeks. Take my word...do not stay here no matter what!!! This place deserves NO STARS and should be shut down!!! read more
