Checkin was slow, there was only one person on Friday night and the party in front of me took time changing rooms, making requests, etc. That said, the attendant was friendly and took care of me quickly when it came to my turn. The room was partially clean on arrival (bed was made, bathroom had dirt tracks/marks on the floor). I didn't make use of anything else in the hotel, mainly there to sleep. Location was fantastic though, near Costco and short driving distance to places to eat. read more

I recently stayed at this Courtyard by Marriott (Middleton, Wisconsin) for a few days while I was on a business trip. This hotel is easy to find and has an inviting entrance. It is also conveniently located, close to several good places to eat, and it is a relatively short distance away from the state Capitol. The young lady that helped me during my check-in was professional and efficient, although I did feel a little like I was being interrogated. She asked me several questions when I was checking in, all of which should have been easily accessible to her from my reservation. This was annoying when I was already exhausted after making a long journey to this destination. The grounds at this hotel are clean, as was the lobby and other common areas. The lobby, dining area and hallways were also nicely decorated with a warm and classy/rich feel. My room was clean and quiet during my stay, and this hotel is appears safe for its customers. This hotel has all the things that one would expect from any hotel, although it did not have a microwave. It seems that more hotels are deciding to refrain from providing a microwave for their guests, and this hotel is one of them. This is unfortunate for customers like me who regularly use them. This hotel has a nice Bistro/Bar in the lobby where they offer snacks and meals, as well as Starbucks items and alcoholic drinks. This service is nice, but they are not open 24/7 for their guests. They are typically open in the morning for three hours, and then again in the evening for five hours. As is typical for most Courtyard by Marriott hotels, this hotel does not provide a free breakfast for their guests, which is a deal-breaker for some potential customers. At the very least, it would be nice if they provided free coffee for their guests. One other minor annoyance was that both side entrances to the hotel did not work during my entire stay. At many hotels, one can enter from multiple locations, one of which includes the main entrance through the lobby. I often like to enter or exit through one of the side entrances that is closer to my hotel room. These side entrances almost always require their guests to use their hotel key to gain entry, but the card readers for both side entrances were not functioning. This was disappointing and inconvenient. Overall, I enjoyed staying at this hotel; however, there were a few minor annoyances that, if corrected, would have made this hotel worthy of a better rating from me. However, the things that bothered me may fine with you. If so, the good attributes here are that this hotel is safe, clean, quiet, and an enjoyable place to stay. read more

This hotel is great! Very nice staff, has a Starbucks and snack bar and a mini resturant or bistro attached to the Starbucks. Has a very small gym and pool area. They also have a laundry room which requires $4 worth of quarters. I would suggest bringing your own quarters because most of the time they don't have change. However, was given laundry detergent for free. I have stayed here for quite a long period of time and I have noticed something / the only reason why I am giving this a 4 star instead of 5. When I arrived I noticed I started to get a lot of spam text messages and pictures. Most of the time it would be about hooking up / looking for singles and sometimes it would be a scammer pretending to be someone/ a girl. So I did some thinking and was wondering how they were able to get my phone # etc. I have come to 2 conclusions. 1) marriot is selling my data and you can actually go to the marriot bonvoy app to opt to "do not sell my personal data" and 2) someone is spoofing/phising the hotel internet. I turned on my VPN and now I get 0 spam calls or spam messages. I would suggest getting a VPN wherever you go. The internet speed here is ~30mbps on wifi but if you hook up ethernet it's about ~85mbps. Pretty freaking fast! read more

I stayed here during Epic's User Group Meeting. I was lucky enough that my company reserved rooms because hotels in the area are packed during this week. Each night was $249 plus city and state tax. I stayed here for 4 nights. When you first walk into the lobby, you'll be greeted by very nice staff members. The lobby itself is very nice! It's not as grand as other hotels, but the decor is very modern. On the first floor, you'll also find a small gym and pool. The rooms are definitely clean and well maintained. I stayed in a one king bed room, it was very spacious. The room included a flat screen tv, desk, sofa, coffee maker, and fridge. There were plenty of outlets, but I'd recommend adding USB charging ports. Newer hotels nowadays have that feature and it's great! The maid service was great and tidied up the place each morning. You know WI is a football state because their "do not disturb" signs stated, "please do not disturb, we've already picked our line up". If you don't have a car, good luck. There's only a handful of restaurants that are walking distance. This includes Costco, Abuelos, PF Changs, Ruth Chris, Which Wich, Monk's Bar & Grill, and Subway. The hotel provides a shuttle within a 5 mile radius. There's a free trolley available that goes around Middleton. To arrange a shuttles, contact the front desk. To get on the trolley, the front desk also has a schedule. Unfortunately, downtown Madison is 7.8 miles and the hotel's shuttle will not drop you off. A mini van taxi ride to downtown is approximately $35 plus tip. Overall, I'd recommend staying at Concourse or even Best Western Inn Plus in downtown Madison. They are located right downtown and they provide easy access to great restaurants. However, if you're in a bind and need a place...then this hotel is nice and will do the trick. read more

The hotel is poorly maintained. Shower door had no weatherstrip on bottom of door so water flooded the bathroom. A/C was very loud and window did not open far enough to be used as alternative. Bad security: the cleaning staff left my door ajar (I left in the morning and when I returned the door was blocked open by the swing security lock). Three drawers were left slightly open so it seems someone had been in the room and searched. Fortunately, I had taken my valuables. Dishonest desk staff. Did not follow through and when I tried to reach the manager I reached voicemail which was not returned. The really good news is that there are many other lodging places in the area. We stayed here for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The place is squeaky clean, from the rooms to the pool area. Our room was very nice, the bed was comfy, and it was quiet at night. The pool area was fantastic. The water was the perfect temp, plenty of towels and never crowded. Great for kids, not deep and cool water features. The hot tub was also great. The only reason I took off a star was because online the room I booked said it was a king with a sofa bed. We get there at 11pm and it turns out it's just a king with a loveseat, and they don't have roll away beds. Luckily our daughter is five and fit perfectly on the loveseat, otherwise it would've been a problem.We will stay here next time we're in Madison. read more

What a piece of crap! Lol, the bathroom door would not shut, had to hold shut so kids could shower. The mirror was broke. Was told breakfast was free, not true. This has a Starbucks so be prepared to pay Starbuck price for coffee and breakfast since no free coffee or breakfast is provided. Breakfast for me was over $15, family of 4 expect to pay $60+ for breakfast per day. . Lady with walker went to counter and was expecting breakfast as well, she was told it was free too, again not true. She walked away hungry! This is an excellent motel for the travel hardened road warrior. The room was hystarically large, great bed, sheets, and pillows. The bathroom was as spacious as some small NYC apartments with an EXCELLENT fully glassed in shower. No cold stepping out of the showers here. The water pressure was tear your face off powerful, which I like. The only 2 problems I encountered were it took about 367 tries to connect to the WIFI and the TV does not have an HDMI out so i could use it as a work monitor. The staff was outstanding and best of all Pho Nam is about 7 minutes away by car. Well done Marriott. read more

I have stayed in Madison several times, but this was my first time staying at the Courtyard in Middleton. Overall, I really liked this hotel and how it focused on the important amenities. I had a room on the end of the hall and it might have been a slightly unusal setup, because I had a stand-up shower instead of a tub. The room is extremely functional. There is a C-shaped table that slides while you are seated on the sofa and is the perfect size for holding a laptop. If you need more space, you can roll out a pretty large desk. The TV has an adjustable viewing angle and you can watch TV from your sofa or your bed. The room also has a mini-closet, ironing board, fridge & coffee maker. There are tons of outlet plugs everywhere, including a very cleverly-mounted one built into the lights near the bed. Even though the hotel was booked to capacity, it never felt crowded. That's because the common areas are extremely large and comfortable. The cafe serves breakfast and dinner, with a large seating area. There was also a lounge with tons of sofas, tables and a self-service business center. There is a small pantry with drinks, any toiletries that you may have forgotten & ice cream for sale. There are a quite a few places within walking distance for dinner. Those are all adquately covered here on Yelp, so I'm not going to get into that. However, I did have a very pleasant stay here, so that merits a 4-star review! read more

Mom always told me first impressions are important -- hence the 5 stars. After being traveling all day, including being stuck in the middle seat in the back of the plane --- hey, I need leg room. Checking in was so easy and quick then I get to the room. Wow, is all I can say. The room felt so big. The walk-in shower is huge and has a bench --- very cool. Free wi-fi, HD TV, smoke-free and breakfast. There is no restaurant (for dinner) on site, but there are a handful of places that within walking distance. UPDATE: While I was waiting for my room to be cleaned (ended up missing class because I was sick, see next review) I discovered a very cool pool set up for the kids. Lots of things to climb on, slide down or have water come down on them. (picture attached) I asked the desk at check out if this was the new set up for the Courtyard pools and found out that it was created specially for this Courtyard. Decent budget oriented hotel located off the belt line highway in Monona. We were upgraded to a whirlpool suite when we checked in at 9 pm so our room was extra large with a large corner run whirlpool sitting in the room. Despite the ample size of the room, unfortunately we still had the typical budget hotel bathroom with barely enough room to turn around. Half of the room had an interesting tile floor to accommodate the large tub. I did notice some noise from the hallway a couple of times during the night-not super noise proof. Also, I saw no wipes to clean machines after use If you don't have a car, there is really nothing close by. There are some food options nearby, so you won't starve - but nothing fun nearby Nothing to do in the area that is within walking distance It has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, which I found out later. I didn't see it otherwise advertised on the website, but it's there - you just need to schedule in advance. Like most people, I came here for EPIC. One recommendation is to make more options available for the shuttle from EPIC to the airport. The times seem funny, either leave early with lots of time to spare at the airport, or leave at the 4:30 time and rush and hope and pray there is not a long security line, so you don't miss your flight. read more

I stayed here while in town for training on two different occasions. The staff was courteous, the rooms super clean, and the rates reasonable. Unlike some other hotels, I found my room to be really quiet at night. I love that my room had a separate sofa (I hate watching tv in bed) but the tv still swiveled so you could watch in bed. The bar is moderately stocked with a very friendly bar tender, and there's a small selection of restaurants in walking distance, some of which are pretty good. If I had a car when I was in Madison or didn't have free time (the later was the case) I would choose this without a moment's hesitation. however... Some of the hotels have shuttle services, where as this one doesn't (my only complaint). read more

Great hotel with great staff. The rooms are clean and large. The shower is big enough that a few people could fit and even has one of those built in seats. The breakfast buffett is ok, not great. There are currently no evening food options but I was told that they are completely renovating the hotel and will add a restaurant. The rooms don't need any work but apparently they are going to remodel those too. Props to all the staff that handled the blizzard without any hiccups apart from the shuttle service being suspended for one day. The hotel bar and lounge are great for sharing a drink and conversation. The 24 hour gym is a little light on equipment and free weights, but the jacuzzi and pool make up for that. Oh, and while you're there don't forget to get a cookie at the front desk. They're great. Misc: WiFi worked flawlessly and I used the business center for several hours too. The shuttle can take you for free to locations within a few miles radius, so use yelp to find an interesting bar or restaurant. The walls aren't the thickest so be prepared for your neighbor's *ahem coworkers, alarm clock to wake you up if they let it buzz for several hours. True story. read more

I love sleeping in a room where I don't have to be paranoid of things. The bathrooms are very clean. You can't even hear doors shut when you're in the room. We were in Madison for a week and had originally booked a room at a downtown Madison hotel. We checked into that hotel -- at a cost of close to $200 per night -- and after two nights had our fill of a hotel in disrepair with staff that took zero effort to make guests feel welcome. Fortunately, we were able to book a last minute room at the Courtyard for the remaining five days of our trip. We checked out of the downtown Madison hotel and made our way to Middleton. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very welcoming front desk staff and allowed to check into our room several hours early. The room (on the fourth floor) was immaculate. However, what is most impressive is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Everywhere you go, they are greeting you and asking if everything is OK. The hotel is immaculate and very well maintained. Breakfast service, while not included in the room rate, is reasonably priced, well prepared and delicious. We will definitely stay here again. The rooms are clean, quiet and comfortable. The entire facility is beautifully maintained. I recommend the Courtyard by Marriott in Middleton without reservation. read more

He scared the living daylights out of me. The last thing I expected was to find a large stranger walking into my room early in the morning. I was still in my night clothes checking my email. He stood around acting confused, checking his clip board and mumbling that the room was supposed to be unoccupied. I assume he was the maintenance man. He didn't leave until I told him to get out. I was really happy to have found this new Courtyard hotel for my frequent business trips to Middleton. Now I just feel uncomfortable going back there. I was not jumping for joy when I was told that I had to go to Wisconsin for a few weeks. I complained about the area, I complained about the drive, I was prepared to complain about the hotel. Well I walk into this hotel and I had honestly nothing to complain about. This hotel looks like it should be in a big city. The furniture is contemporary and new. The staff is GREAT. The shower is huge and has a bench just in case you wanted to create your own steam room. The rooms are large and come equipt with flat screen tvs. Free Wi Fi and good breakfast where I can get a cook to order omlette. I am not saying that I am dying to come back to WI but if I do I know exactly where I am stay. read more

They were not serving food at this location because of COVID-19. They were located next to an open field which was the perfect place for seeing fireflies after dark. This a very good hotel. Good value. Great location close to restaurants and shopping. Beds are the weakest link in the stay. Ours needs better sheets and pillows. Room temperature was comfortable. Shower has decent water pressure. Love the Starbucks coffee downstairs and the lite menu options available. Lots of comfortable seating areas to meet friends and family instead of hosting them at your house! Great kids pool. Fun to check in with small children for a mini vacation. Very pleased with the front desk and housekeeping. My least favorite part of our stay was the music playing in the hall. First week for Epic training and company recommended this location. The staff is first rate and extremely friendly. Treated as if I was a friend rather than a customer. Room was pristine. Walls could be thicker. Alexis "Lexi" at the bistro bar was fantastic and drinks and food prices there were extremely reasonable. In fact, I heard several customers complaining that their bill seemed too low. Definitely staying here next time I go to training. read more

The lobby has a fireplace and plenty of seating. The amenities are clean and working well. The only unfortunate aspect is that the walls are kind of thin. I would give it a higher rating only if it were in a better location. The facility itself was very nice. The room was oversized. Two actual queen beds (rather than stupid full-size) plus a pull-out chair (for when DS1 was being a butt-head to his brother) with plenty of room to roam around. Bathroom was just as spacious. Even had a little granite alcove in the shower. Lots of room to store our things. We arrived at about 3am and had to call for directions (I thought is was on the other side by downtown... fail). Staff was always very professional and accommodating. Even at 3am. The pool was loads of fun for the kids. Good sized jacuzzi. The mini-waterpark features were cute and a plus was the glass wall to the fitness center. DS2 wanted to work out so I could still sit by the pool while he cranked it on the elliptical. Pool was not so great for laps... But they have an agreement with some healthclub nearby. We only managed to hit the breakfast buffet once. It was decent. We only had the continental option (you can pay $2 for the hot foods). Average selection. My only beef is the area is very business park-y. There are some higher end dinner places nearby, but not much for breakfast or more casual. Costco is right behind the property, with Costco gas literally next door. Kind of a bonus. I got it for $50 on priceline, so for what I paid, I'm not complaining. read more

Checked into this hotel 11/27 under company account. They swiped my card for incidentals. They actually charged my account for the nightly rate. They next morning when I talked to the front desk about why I was charged the full rate she had no answers except for sometimes this just happens. Like what? Randomly? When I asked to speak to the manager I was told he would be there at 11. Came back at 11:15 I was told he was running late and that he had just gotten over COVID. Kind of unprofessional to tell me that but ok. Stopped back after work and was told it had been fixed and it would take 3 days for the charges to be reversed. Come Monday still on my card. Called the hotel and am now being told it would take 5 days for the charge to be reversed. Asked to speak to the manager and was told he was on a tour and he would call me back. Called corporate and after about an hour with them they called the hotel and when she came back her attitude was basically too bad and the manager of the hotel was OUT with COVID. How unprofessional are you in holding someone's money because of your mistake and even more so about giving out one of your employee's medical information. If I could give this place negative stars for their complete and udder horrendous customer service. Marriot has lost my business at any of their hotels for good. read more

We have stayed at the Marriott Courtyard numerous times. This is our choice of hotels when we spend time in Madison and surrounding communities. The staff has always been friendly , accommodating and the property clean and well kept. This stay is another story. I carry Gold elite status with Marriott. I asked for an upgrade , none available. I asked for breakfast or drinks, no response. Only an I'm sorry here's your key. The room smelled like a roadside motel. We switched rooms with slightly better results. Because of this we were offered free drinks. We went to sit outdoors in the courtyard about 3:00 in the afternoon. We wanted to get a drink but no drink service was available. So much for free drink coupons .we sat down on the outdoor furniture. It was filthy.,stained with sweat, bird poop and debris. It was disgusting. This hotel has lost its edge. We will find a new place to stay when we come to Madison And we have! The Fairfield in Verona is a better choice if you need a hotel in this area. We come up here to train on the Ironman course. This Fairfield is clean with a wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. I was upgraded without asking as now I've reached the Platinum level. The rooms were very clean and available when we arrived early. Will stay here from now on ! read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I travel for work almost every week. This is by far the worst hotel experience I have had (including no AC in a room in 90 + degree weather)! I've never stayed somewhere that doesn't even offer coffee in the morning (unless you want to pay for Starbucks in the lobby-only option). WiFi was out the entire time. On day 1 they said they were working on it. On day 2, I purchased an ethernet cable to connect hardwire (they didn't have any at the front desk). That also did not work! I asked them to fax/scan a document and send to my email (needed it for work). It never arrived. I had to go down the street to the FedEx and pay to have it scanned and emailed! I will absolutely stay down the street at the Staybridge (swanky little area in the middle of lots of dinning and shopping). Or the Brand New hotel next door (Country Inn ???). I am a Gold Status Marriott customer and I will stay at other Marriott facilities, but NEVER again at this one. read more
