Last week I entered the store with my grandma-in-laws coins to try and sell at least some of them for her. There has been a recent tragedy in the family, where her elderly veteran brother was ran over and crushed and they don't have enough money to cremate him (Mark Whorton, 61). James, the old man, came over and started looking at them. After a few minutes, he was done and asked how much I wanted to sell the first and most expensive coin for. I told him $350 which is well below the price range that this particular coin is selling for on Ebay and other coin exchange sites. When I told him that, he threw up his hands, barked "I'm not interested" and walked away. I was confused and after a second I got his attention again and asked if he had another price in mind. He came back, looked at the Greysheet and offered $210. I of course said no, so he grumbled and started complaining about how he has to deal with this every single day (which is job....) and then refused to quote the rest. I told him thank you for looking at the coins and he didn't say anything back. The next day I listed the coin on eBay and it sold within hours for $390. I am very disappointed. My family and I have spent thousands of dollars here buying silver and various coins. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back to purchase or sell. If you want to be treated rudely and ripped off, come here. If you want a pleasant experience... go anywhere else. Thanks James! read more

terrible horrible experience, james the owner cussed me out and told me to get the fuck out for wasting his time after 3o minutes of him checking my scrap gold/silver when i asked how much percentage on spot(25%) he was paying he got angry when i said i want to hold off on the gold until i talk to my husband and pushed all the stuff back to me and told me to get the fuck out for wasting his time an hour he accused, my hands were shaking as he yelled as i tried to gather my belongings he continued to verbally assault me and told me not to let the door hit my ass on the way out, i would never recommend or return there, after many years of my family going to this crap hole. unprofessional and violent behavior do not trust this scammer and poor poor business ethics. not how you treat any customer no matter what, how can it be a waste of your time if that is what your establishment does??? disgusting . this was the owner who obviously thought his time and opinion were more important than mine. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I went in to sell silver dimes. The silver melt value that day was $2.22 per dime. The owner miscounted the dimes and said I had 5 less than I actually had. He only gave me $1.75 per dime. I called other coin stores and they all said they would give me $2.00 per dime. I also had 4 walking half dollars which were melt value $11.11 and he only gave me $8.00 each. When I left I reviewed my receipt and called back, I told him the current melt value was $2.22 and the quotes from the other stores and that he had not given me the correct/fair price For my coins. The owner then hung up on me. I will never go back to Baysavers. Did not give fair value price for coins and was rude. Horrible customer service! read more

Worst customer service ever! We went in to check out the silver and were treated like we were going to steal something. The lady there started locking up the case where I was looking and when asked about coins she pulled them out and rushed us to get what we were looking at then locked them up after counting the coins. The owner of this store just assulted me. I've called the police already and will be pressing charges. Do not I repeat do not give this guy any business. He is a snake. He's about 5-6" and 65-75 years of age. I came into his store with a receipt in hand to get coins that my son had sold to him, my son told his mother that I said he could. Over 9 silver 50cent pieces and one Lady Liberty peace 1946 he gave my son $19.75 for all of that he was alowi g me to look in the coins tubs for my coins, I said to him... "the Liberty coin alone was worth more than $20" I was trying to point this out to him and he said "that's total BS I've been doing this for 30 years they would never sell for that much!" so I pulled up a list of sold coins on eBay of coins that were already sold and one sold for $31 in the same physical shape! He immediately grabbed me by my wrist took the coins out of my hand that he put and told me to get the F out of my store all in front of my wife and 6 year old daughter! Just went in to buy a gold cube. The owner started screaming at me, cause they had it posted on Craigslist for $250. So naturally I wanted it for $250 out the door. He said no I have to pay taxes on it so you do to. I told him no the ad says $250 not $250 plus tax. Rude guy at the front ruined my experience. Bought from them many times ounces of both gold and silver. Guy didn't want to give me time of day when asking questions, don't know if it was because I was a woman in a room full of men or why he felt the need to talk the way he did. Came in to sell my jewelry I don't wear anymore and some pieces I had were broken. They have a machine that tests the jewelry and tells them what metals they are like 10 k gold, 14 k gold or silver which is so cool. They have a bunch of random things for sale besides gold and silver. Staff was super friendly, nice and very fair on the prices. read more

Came to the store as I read online they also deal with metal detectors. I bought a detector online and had no clue how to use it. The older guy was great. He was about to go to lunch but took over 20 minutes to show me how to use the detector and went over everything I needed to know. Store has so much items. november of 2016, i took a diamond ring in to baysavers to sell. i was told it was a fake after he "tested" it 3 times. i then took it to 6 other places and was offered $500 - $2200 for my REAL diamond. i sold it for $2200 ! it pays to shop around . and this is not the place for diamonds. go to a jewler not a pawnshop that cant tell the difference. read more

I Have been dealing with baysavers for about 4 years. I have had 60,000 dollars estates that they have been very helpful with and took the time to give me a bid.. The whole staff their has great weather I have 500 dollars or 60k they have always treated me better then the rest. For example on the 60 k gold lot I went to 3 Places the first offer from a store on Arden way offered 42k the second place was a huge place with many gold ads on t.v offered 48k .So I can tell you that this place is without a doubt the best in town read more

I have gone to Baysavers to buy coins, tokens, & tons of supplies for many years. I have no complaints about the service, items available, & pricing. But when they closed shop 30 minutes early & turned my business away at the door as they were locking up - well, none of the other good things about this place matter! I've been going to this store occasionally since they bought it from the previous owner. I'm a coin collector, so can't comment on the gold/silver buying. They have a very nice collection of coins for sale and a wonderful VERY reasonably priced selection of supplies--but the supplies are located in three different areas, so if you don't see what you want, do ask. They have a huge selection of mint sets, commemoratives, pages from collections they've purchased, and if you keep looking long enough you'll find pretty much anything you could want. There's even bins of "starter" coins for the kids to look through. I really like the laid-back attitude--once I had trays pulled out from the showcase and another time album pages from the big cabinet and I sat and looked through them until I made up my mind without someone hovering over me or acting like I was taking too long. I'm not a "big-time" purchaser--I've walked in with $20 to look at coins to add to my collection as opposed to other reviewers here talking about their gold and diamonds--and I've gotten wonderful service every visit. read more

Cool place to go to check out jewelery and coins. The women staff are friendly and knowledgeable. However, the male staff, particularly the son, has no sense of jewelery appraisal or identification. Very UN-experienced. The gentlemen couldn't identify real diamonds or gold. Taking jewelery here for pawn is a mistake and they'll attempt to mislead and lie if they think you have little or no knowledge of the value of your possessions. Be aware. read more

Well this was one of the weirdest and most awkward retail experiences of my life. When I walked up to the door, I rang the bell to be let in. A customer who was walking out eventually let me in. Upon entering I hear a man talking VERY loudly on the phone. He was sitting in a very tall office chair, with his back to me facing a computer behind the counter. A woman asked me if I was being helped, I said no, she saw what I had and said "Dave" needed to look at it because she couldn't price it. Another lady came and took the items to "Dave," the mystery man in the big chair. His back was still towards me and he was still growling on the phone. Once he finally hung up on the (I'm assuming from his words, an eBay customer) he took my item and said very loudly "this is after market sealed." No it's not. But I couldn't address him because he still wouldn't turn around. He began demanding the lady (who's name I think is Sue Lynn or Donna Lynn, something like that. No offense to her I'm just really horrible at remembering names) to press different buttons and click on links on eBay, on the computer...the computer that was right in front of him...that he was using. Anyway, he starts looking up my item on eBay (which I had already done, and there was none on eBay in my new condition) and just kept saying, this is after market. A younger man had come over, another person who never addressed me, just so he could be in on the action I guess, and he also kept his back to me the whole time and discussed my item like I wasn't even there. "This is after market sealed." Again, it's not, I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that. All this is happening, I'm right behind him by the counter, he still hasn't turned around. It was like watching the evil villain from inspector gadget, where he sits in his chair and you never see his face. He almost seemed angry that he was even looking at the item, like it wasn't even worth his time, he was reading the prices off eBay as if he was insulted. He said it was only good for Christmas time and offered $5 each for both items I had. Loudly. Handed it to the lady, who then repeated what he said, like I wasn't standing there the whole time. I said no thank you and left. The ONLY reason I gave it 2 stars is because the nice lady who was being barked at the whole time seemed very friendly and I got the sense that she knew that the "man" was rude and the situation was weird. And she offered to help me carry my stuff out because I also had my baby in her car seat and my 3 year old with me. She should find a new job because he seems miserable. read more
