I injured my back recently at the gym and decided to visit Bayside. I had heard great reviews from friends and quickly learned first hand how helpful Dr. O'Brien was. For example, the first weekend of my injury was brutal. He knew I would need treatment through the weekend and actually met me at the office on a Saturday afternoon. Since then he's guided me through healing the injury and has given me great advice on moving forward/preventing this from happening in the future. 36 weeks with baby #2 and it decides to stay in a breech position. My midwife recommended the Webster Technique and to start it as soon as possible to help baby flip. Everyone at Bayside was wonderful and I was able to get in right away! Dr. Torres was sweet and has great bedside manner. She had me booked for 4 appointments and said she has great success with most babies flipping, unless of course their are other factors in play. She was very helpful! They are a holistic practice and offer support for many different ailments as well as support with lactation. They have a great location with plenty of parking and continue following all COVID protocols, and as a pregnant woman I appreciate the extra precautions in place to keep me and my baby safe. This practice has the lock on the pregnant lady market, based on my completely informal poll and discussions with pregnant women I meet about town and who I see at the practice. They thrive on word of mouth referrals, which of course is the best way to go when you are a service provider. I don't usually find scheduling to be a problem though they are always busy. Meghan (Dr Schaffer) has magic hands and has really helped me alleviate pain throughout my pregnancy. I would almost knock this down to 4 stars because I would estimate approximately 1/3 of my appointments have started on time, but as I have equally been on the receiving end of Meghan wanting to spend more time testing my alignment and perfecting my adjustment when she identifies another subtle area to sooth, I will keep at 5 stars. Bayside is the best place on the planet. I'm another super pregnant reviewer - and I can't find enough positive things to say. At about 36 weeks, I was dealing with pneumonia and excruciating pain in my lower back and hip. I wasn't able to find help or relief anywhere... until I visited Bayside. The ladies at the front office are so lovely and helpful, and scheduling appointments is easy, and they typically run on-time. I've seen other chiropractors, and they were often very rough, but that has not been the case with Bayside. I see Dr. Paul O'Brien, and he is some kind of magician. Incredibly gentle and understanding, while still giving a great chiropractic adjustment. I've only seen him while pregnant, but I'll continue to be a client after the baby comes. Dr. O'Brien is amazing. I must admit that as a man, in reading all of the reviews, I was asking myself: "Is this a place that strictly deals with pregnant chicks and kids?" I am glad that I picked up the phone and called to ask if guys were welcome and treated. I had a horribly bruised SI that was also rotated, so my muscles were taking a beating as well, and with the first visit, after an assessment, I already started feeling better. If you are used to bone cracking adjustments by what I would call a traditional chiropractor, the method that Dr. O'Brien uses probably will make you raise an eyebrow at first when he start busting out his wedges, but trust the man, he knows what your body is doing and how to fix it. There are a lot of things people don't tell you about being pregnant. Movies often over-dramatize or get it wrong, and there's this thing about being pregnant that makes you not want to complain about being pregnant... But you guys, being pregnant is TOUGH. It's especially tough on the body, and on your pelvis/hips/back especially. That's why, whenever I get the good news that a friend is expecting, from here on out I am going to tell them to call Dr Schaffer and set up a regular schedule of appointments with her immediately. When my hip pain got so bad it spread to my shoulders, knees and even jaw, my good friend Mary L told me to get it together and go to Dr Schaffer at Bayside. Now, getting chiropractic care while you're pregnant is a completely different experience then when you are not -- there's a lot less moving, cracking and pushing. Dr Schaffer, a chiropractor and wellness guru, explained what was going on in my body and how she planned to help me. Within minutes of being on her table (and on the amazing pregnancy pillow), I was already feeling much better. Turns out, carrying a big baby on a little frame can cause you to sprain your hip. Thankfully, Dr Schaffer knows how to fix it, and fix it she did. I keep going in for regular adjustments and to push that pesky hip back into place, and every time I leave feeling so much better, and I really enjoy chatting with Dr Schaffer, too. The practice itself is really well-run. The woman at the front desk is sweet and kind, making sure everything runs smoothly with a smile on her face and a gentle voice. The waiting area is filled with natural light, and you can even make yourself a cup of herb tea while you wait, or sip on cool water while you read any of the informative magazines they have on the coffee table. Parking is on the street, but I've never had an issue, and the fact that they have both a front and side entrance means very easy access. I love this place, the fact that they offer so many options for care (there are several doctors and they treat all sorts of people -- even babies!), and the super-easy location. Today I had my first appointment at Bayside with Dr. O'Brien and was literally crying happy tears. I've had problems with my back for the last 4 years and have seen countless physical therapists, Orthopedic doctors, chiropractors, and massage therapists. Since I had my last child a couple of months ago, the pain has been unbearable and nothing touched it. Dr. O'Brien was able to determine what was causing the pain in a brief assessment and it was something that no other PT, Orthopedic doctor, or chiropractor picked up on. He started doing adjustments and within an hour I had barely any pain left. I know there's still work to be done but I can't believe that he was able to do more in 1 hour than probably 10 other people did in the last 4 years. On visit #1 Dr. O'Brien reviewed a 4-page form of my health history and habits, and at his desk, asked me follow-up questions down to whether I use a mouse at work to what time I naturally wake. I immediately felt at ease and listened to, comfortable with Dr. O'Brien's straightforward, calm nature and sense of humor. The SOT chiropractic method focuses on the spine and extremities as well as the relationship to the organs and overall wellness. Bayside Chiropractic is different from other chiropractors that I have tried. The main reason is because of the amount of time they spend on you. It's not just about cracking this or that in your back, but it's actually a softer more full body approach. I see Dr Shaffer for prenatal chiropractic work, and she not only works on my neck and mid back, but also my hips. Having my entire pelvic region aligned is going to be exceptionally important for birth, and I trust that I am in good hands. She is able to see how other parts of my body are doing, because everything in our bodies are connected. I don't know how he does I, but by touching my feet, my hands, or the back of my neck, she can pinpoint other areas that are being effected. For example, my growing belly has pushed my stomach into an odd position. She figured this out by touching my neck. I only wish I had started coming here earlier in my pregnancy. When I found out that my baby was breached I started going to Bayside because of the research I did on the Webster method and turning babies. Within two weeks of my initial appointment my baby was no longer breach and my back pain that I had experienced throughout my entire pregnancy was so much better. I did not actually see a provider but I have heard good things about them. I do not have insurance but needed prenatal chiropractic treatment. When I called to inquire about prices for cash paying patients I was told that the initial visit was $200 with subsequent visits being $70, no sliding scale. I then called Eastside Chiropractors. They were able to see me the same day, Dr Amy was wonderful and their prices were $30 per visit for cash paying patients. Why are Bayside's prices over SIX TIMES MORE than the other doctors???!!! I started seeing Dr. O'Brien a couple of months ago for chronic muscle pain in my scapula/shoulders and often a pinched nerve in my neck. I've been to everyone, and I've found that no one is going to fix me permanently or give me a miracle. But Dr. O'Brien pretty much right away got to the bottom of how I am continually messing myself up and has shown me the road to recovery. When I follow his prescription, which includes various PT exercises and proper nutrition, I feel better, when I don't, I definitely feel the difference. I'd highly recommend Dr. O'Brien to anyone experiencing the kind of chronic pain that I deal with. I had this lower back issue the past 3 weeks and I visited a chiropractor last week in a different clinic. He was great, though he didn't want to do any treatments when I mentioned about the 1/2 marathon coming up in 2 weeks. He told me to return after the race. In a meantime, I really wanted to do something about this dull pain. I made an appointment with Dr. Sickel to see what she has to say about my issue. I have checked out all the possible cause of my lower back issues with several doctors and every tests came out negative, so I knew it was something to do with skeletal system. During the initial consultation talk with Dr. Sickel, she explained to me what she believes in and sounded what I was looking for. IF the doctor from other clinic didn't tell me that I shouldn't be running too much, I probably would have kept him as my chiro, but because he limited my favourite activity in life in a first place, it simply lead me to seek whoever tells me that I can continue doing what I love. So, when I found out Dr. Sickel also runs, I thought, YES, she can understand my point! And more depth into our conversation regarding my skeletal system and its relation to internal organs function, everything she mentioned, actually and finally made sense to what I have been through, not only with the lower back issue but also overall wellness. After she spent 20 mins or so, she started checking on my alignments. Very precisely. Then moved onto THE FIX. I am not sure how the terms are used, but I believe what she was doing was well balanced manipulation reflex technique, sacral respiratory mechanism, and sacro occipital technique, all combined. I think my daughter who dances might also take advantage of her sessions here! When I mentioned about that, she told me she used to treat ballet dancers when she was in Atlanta. I know dancers and runners share the same issues and I highly recommend to come see her at Bayside Chiropractic! For those who drives, it will be a street parking right in front. If you don't see any spot, if you go down further towards Waterman Grill, there are more places to park as well. They take insurance, check with your provider before you go. It takes about 15 min or so to fill out the paperwork, so it is recommended to print them out online then fill out before your visit to save some time at the office. Also it is good idea to bring your bottle of luke warm water or room temp water with you. You want to flush out the toxins from your body after the treatment! I appreciate the results of chiropractic work, but never really liked the process. Bayside definitely changed that. They have a different approach to chiro that feels more individualized than others I have seen. They also use techniques beyond the quick cracking. Of course, they use that as well, but in a very non-invasive way. Both Dr. Schaffer and Dr. O'Brien are personable and professional. The front desk staff is also incredibly pleasant and efficient. Ever wish you could get a new head/neck/back? If so, you should try these folks. I first took my teenage son for severe back and neck pain - who knew 'growing pains' was a treatable condition? After I saw how it helped him, I started going for headaches and arthritis in my neck (and whatever else may hurt at the time). When I come out, I always feel like the tin man with all new parts. Treatment is quick (but conciencious, not rushed) painless and effective. The office is efficient and the Drs and staff are all first-rate. I ALWAYS feel better when I walked out than when I walked in. If you're in pain, call them. You never know how good you can feel until you try. This office is a gem. WARNING- Do not go to this Chiropractic office. It has a negative feel from the moment you walk in. When you make an appointment via the phone the receptionist comes across very cold and rude. Her personality doesn't change when you arrive. I would place Dr. Sickel as probably the worst practitioner I have ever visited. Not only does she act like an immature little girl, but her office is small (my closet is bigger) and sits right next to the reception area which is very noisy when the two receptionist are talking. Bayside is amazing! I cannot thank them enough for the services they have provided to myself as well as my daughter. When my daughter was born, she was always crying and we couldn't put her down. She always wanted to be held in the upright position and nurse constantly. I went to a moms group that met 1x a week and the organizer recommended me to see her friend, Dr. O'Brien. At our first initial meeting, he asked me some questions about her birth, how she is as a baby, and how breastfeeding was going. He then adjusted her and asked me if she had been checked for a tongue and lip tie when she was born. I said yes, and she was also checked out by two other doctors after her birth - they both said my daughter was fine. Turns out that she in fact was tongue and lip tied. We gotten that taken care of right away and she was a different baby right after the frenotomy procedure and is doing great! We still continue to see the doctor and his other colleagues for my daughters health and well being. They also have lactation support and Eddie and Jess are helpful and very knowledgeable, they sure have helped me and I am going on 8 months strong with nursing. I have referred many friends and new moms to this practice. They have helped me in such a positive way that I hope by sharing my success story I am able to help another family. If i could give this place 10 stars I totally would!! I have been there only twice so far but its already one of my favorite appointments to go to! I was highly recommended by one of my clients to Dr. Meagan Schafer. I went the first visit by myself, then the second visit for myself and my 2 year old son. The intake process is painless since you can print the forms at home and bring them in. And the first session is very thorough! Dr. Schafer is so very present with you. She asks great questions to assess your overall health, listens carefully to your words and your body! This is not your typical crack and go kind of place; its all about treating the whole person so they take their time (i hear the other Dr is incredible and present too but i havent seen him) observing, gently massage organs, rocking the body and feeling in certain areas of the body for any "triggers" that give them info as to what your body needs. Then after all of this if your body needs it then they do the "cracking" or realignment as I like to call it. Dr. Schafer uses Young living essential oils and explains what she is doing if you are interested. The office space is nice and comfortable and clean which is a bonus! (Altho Dr Schafer is so good i would get an adjustment from her in a dump!) i had some pain that i had been experiencing for months that completely disapeared after the first session with her!! so i was a little apprehensive about taking my son since he doesnt like going to the doctor and i wasnt sure he would sit still long enough for her to assess him. But i know there are so many benefits and they specialize in babies and children so if i was gonna get him going this is the place. Well my nerves were all in vain because from the moment she came to the waiting area to get us my son was smitten! He followed her up the stairs waving goodbye to me! Haha. She is AMAZING with kids. I have legitimately been in constant back pain for a few years. I thought it was just because of my job; I'm currently a CNA. However, after my boyfriend, current chiropractor student, suggested this location for my back pain..I now know that my back pain was due to my crooked hips. I currently go for treatments once/twice a week and I must say that it has cut down my daily pain significantly. Prior to my first visit, I noticed that I had a lot of trouble rising up from a squatting position and after the visit, I just felt so back in balance and even and I have no trouble bending/squatting. Prior to my first visit, laying down or sitting with a few pillows behind my back was the only way I'd be comfortable. Now, I don't have pain with standing/walking/any physical activity. And I owe this life changing adjustment to Dr. O'Brien! He is absolutely amazing in his area of expertise (SOTDC) and I would HIGHLY recommend anyone with any discomfort to try a session!
