I like Dr. Halpert. I find him to be honest and straightforward about dental care. It's not about the $$$ for me, it's about the interaction and experience. I have had implants fail not at all his fault. I have had two successful implants in which he coordinated. The color match of the crown is off but that will be fixed. I prefer this office than his others. I don't get all the negative reviews. There must be some AMAZING dentists in Queens for this location to be bashed. At least staff is listed negatively more so than the professional experience. Staff can be replaced. read more

I have been here twice for regular checkups within the last year (This is where my insurance plan directs me to go). Fairly punctual and relatively quick. X-rays done, deep water pick type cleaning done and a fluoride pasting done. See you in six months. Plus they give you a goody bag (toothbrush, toothpaste and floss) on the way out. Woo Hoo !!! PRIORITY WARNING--NO ONE UNDER ANY insurance plan is required to give the office your SS#--EVER.. More details about this below. This office is ABSOLUTELY despicable. I walked in to make an appointment on November 10, 2024 to make an appointment for a check ip and broken tooth. The THING at the front desk asked me for my SS# to verify my insurance. I refused and explained they removed SS#'s from the ID card more than a decade ago for patient privacy. I gave her my card which states ON IT "Aetna Medicare DENTAL". We made the appointment for today November 17th at 1pm. I walk in and give the THING (Young African American girl with long hair and too much perfume)--Unfortunately I need to list this to ID her because she refused to give me her name. She pulls up my appointment and starts telling me she was not "able to verify my insurance because I did nit give her my SS#." I told her that does not sound right because Aetna themselves told me there is no separate dental #. NOW--if that were the case--that she could not verify my insurance--Why did't se call me to get it worked out? When I asked her as much, she said "Because I already told you I needed your SS#. " So I said "so you thought nothing of wasting my time to come here and did not think to call me"? She said "that's your problem"--COULD YOU IMAGINE???? I asked her to call them now and she refused and began raising her voice with the most unprofessional attitude and manner of speaking! I asked her to lower her voice because I can certainly yell too. I got on the phone with Aetna who told me AETNA WILL NEVER ACCEPT A PATIENT'S SS# TO VERIFY INSURANCE--Because THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED to! So I told THING as much and told her the rep wanted to speak with her to wish she said for me to "have a seat in the waiting room because I'm busy right now" I reminded her I have Aetna on the phone and she said she couldn't talk to them anyway because "they need verification in writing"---Didn't she just say she CALLED them to verify? Then comes the Dr. who pretty much told me to have a seat and apparently thought the manner in which THING spoke to me was acceptable. Didn't get his name either because no one in that office wears name tags (First time ever I see THAT) but it makes sense! He said he'd be happy to see me if I were to pay upfront. I explained I am on SSD and don't have that type of money at hand and proceeds to tell me there are plenty of other dentists. I asked him if he thought the way his THING spoke to me was acceptable and he just shrugged his shoulders. COWARD! At this point, I still had Aetna on the phone who heard EVERYTHING!! --Poor lady was horrified! The experience caused me an anxiety attack and I filed a formal complaint with Aetna against Bayside Dental Group. The woman from Aetna was very helpful and said not to worry --I did not need anyone's name and she will document what she heard. I walk home and ran into two of my neighbors who stopped me because I was visibly upset... I explained the situation and get THIS--This office PAID people to write the couple of "good" reviews they have. I am embarrassed to have such a DISGUSTING practice so close to my home. Added note--I went there in 2015 and left because of the staff--BOY was I reminded of that today! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE--They are disgusting excuses for humans. All these previous reviews seem to be a few years ago,well I have to add that in 2020 this dental office is an excellent choice. Starting out with the lovely receptionist Frandy to the excellent tech Karla to Dr.Halpert. Dr.Halpert has all the new dental technologies,current equipment made my visit here smooth and actually painless. Top of the line x-ray machines make the proding with that pointed object non existent. The bedside manner of this doctor is great,very knowagable and a great personality,Dr.Halpert is now my go to dentist. read more

This place should not even be a real establishment - the unprofessionalism that my mother experienced by the receptionist as well as the dentist was horrendous. My mom called them ahead of time asking if they took her insurance and they said they do but did not get into the details. So my mom scheduled an appointment and went to it, they handed all the intake forms for her to fill out right away. My mom filled them and until my mom was about to be called in, my mom purposely asked if there she had to pay anything out of her own pocket. They had purposely left everything out regarding how much she would have to pay, and wouldn't have told her until AFTER the services were rendered and so that there would be no way for her to say no to the copay. My mother then said she no longer wanted to see the dentist and was simply requesting for an invoice or signed documentation that she did not see the doctor, and that they wouldn't charge her insurance. Both the receptionist and the dentist started arguing with my mother, telling her that this was her own fault that she didn't know how much copay she had, that she was getting angry because a patient before hand got angry at them, so she was "copying" the previous patient. Then midway through the conversation the receptionist got up and said "Im using the bathroom, I'm done with this conversation." They refused to give her information back (all the forms that she filled out) and basically kicked her out of the office. This place should be shut down - this is the worst place. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I just went through a horrendous experience with Dr. Nandoor Halpert, whom I went to in good faith, and paid $1,200.00 up front, for a crown which fell out after being in place only six days. Three temporary crowns also fell out. Two before the permanent one was put in, and one, after the permanent crown fell out. I refused to allow Dr. Nandoor Halpert to finish the job by making another crown, because he doesn't seem to have a clue about dentistry. When I asked for my money back, his demeanor was extremely calm and patronizing, probably because I had a witness with me and he was expecting other patients. With a sad look upon his face, he told me he was sorry that I had no confidence in his work, and instructed his 'so-called' office manager to process my refund. I had paid him with my Visa Credit Card, so it seemed to me that the same credit card should have been used to credit the charge back to my account. NOT SO. Instead, his so-called office manager had me sign and initial some VERY ODD PAPERS that involved Dr. Halpert's PAY PAL account. (Did you ever???) When I asked why, she told me that the doctor uses Pay Pal for his business transactions. By now, it was clear without a doubt, that DR. HALPERT'S DENTAL PRACTICE IS TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Apparently this entire WEIRD transaction was just a ruse to get me out of the office. After waiting three weeks without receiving diddly-squat from PAY PAL (which I never expected anyway), I contacted the New York State Attorney General's Office, and SUDDENLY Dr. Halpert reversed the charge on my Visa Credit Card. Oh, and let me not forget to mention..... On my second visit to him to have the second fallen out temp replaced, I mentioned that I saw the dreadful reviews of him on YELP. He responded by saying that YELP charges "twelve thousand dollars" to post only the good reviews of a business, and, he was not about to give them that. I felt like shouting "LIAR, LIAR, YOUR PANTS ARE ON FIRE." If he took my gentle, soft spoken, demeanor for weakness, he knows now that he was SADLY MISTAKEN. Oh, and btw.... the things mentioned in other YELPings about his office staff do not even begin to touch upon the true picture. Their rudeness and unprofessionalism is beyond belief. They all defend him like mother tigers and he rewards them by making them feel important. AGAIN..... AVOID DR. NANDOOR HALPERT LIKE THE PLAGUE. I went to this office for the first time and did not feel comfortable at all between the receptionists and the dentist. After getting x-rays of my teeth, I waited a while for the dentist to come in while overhearing him explain to another patient that he needs all of this work done and how none of it is covered by insurance. Once he came to see me, I could tell he wasn't very personable as I told him that the dentist office makes me very uncomfortable. He then proceeded to tell me that I have an overbite and asked if I ever considered braces in which I had braces as a child and I think for the most part my teeth are pretty straight. From there I was told that I need my wisdom teeth out and that I can come back for a cleaning after getting my wisdom teeth removed. So lets just say he literally did nothing and got paid for it through insurance and at the same time I was glad he did nothing because I didn't want this guy touching my mouth. I wanted a cleaning, never got it because Dr. Isaacs said I required 'deep periodontal cleaning' (few hundred dollars, out of pocket). I was told by Samantha, very politely, that although insurance covers cleaning, Dr. Isaacs knows better than insurance company that deep cleaning is needed so they won't do the general cleaning. BS. Please, do yourself a favor and do not go here. Dr. Nathan is incompetent, threw out my 19yr olds last invisalign tray, told her retainer would be ordered....in december. Since then its been one stupid mistake after another. I opted to eat the $$$$ spent and have my daughter's invisalign done over at a more professional, knowledgeable & caring place. After the xrays etc, waited in the dental chair for a very long time, only for a disinterested dentist to come in and not do much in the way of cleaning. I won't be coming back. I frequently go to the dentist and this is not a proper cleaning. She did not floss my teeth, check my gums, below the gum line, or any of the standard checks that occur during a cleaning. Negative 5 Stars I once praised Bayside Dental Group, giving them a great review of how fast service was the abundance of services they offer and the great parking in the back. But the more I deal with them the more problems I have. Waiting to be seen could take an hour or two. Their services are extremely expensive. I had dental whitening done, I later found out I should have shopped around. The last straw was when I signed up for invisalign a $6500 service. I canceled the following day and was heavily penalized. Also later found out the insurance doesn't cover any where near the amount they said it would cover. Moral of the story. Shop, shop, Shop Around, before dealing with these guys. They are Expensive. read more

One of the biggest mistakes I've made in my life was going to this dentist. I did it because it was convient, it was right around the corner from where I live.I fell and broke my front tooth & I could not get an appointment with my regular dentist for 6 weeks & I didn't want to walk around with that broken tooth for that length of time so I decided to go to bayside dental; HUGE MISTAKE.They orginally told me it would cost 2,000.00 for a root canal(which now I realize I might not have needed) post & build-up & cap.Then AFTER it was done the short financial manger( I don't remember his name) told me it would be additional 400.00 for the cap, so the total was 2400.00.........So I'll fast-forward to a year latter & all of sudden the whole tooth post and all fall right out while eating a soft sandwich, I almost choked & swallowed my tooth. So I go back to dentist to show him what happened & expecting him to fix it for free. Well that was NOT the case. First he trys to blame me, saying I grind my teeth because they where worn down on top but I reminded him that HE sanded down those teeth after the operation so I would get an even bite.Then he tells me I need a tooth implant & he'll give me a big discount and only charge me 3,600.00. 3,600.00 ARE YOU KIDDING ME I told him. That means this whole affair will cost me 6,000.00 for ONE tooth after he screwed up, you believe it!!!!!!!Well I walked out & went to my regular dentist who told me I DIDN'T need an implant. That the bayside dentist did a shoddy job, the post was TOO SHORT. My regular dentist(G.H.D.I, Dr. Brown) went ahead & did the procedure the RIGHT way & charged me only 675.00 & my tooth is still in my mouth, no problems!SO PLEASE PEOPLE NEVER GO TO BAYSIDE DENTAL!!! I have never ever met such a clueless dentist ever. I actually excused myself, apologized, got up from the dental chair and walked out! by far the worst experience ever. The dentist had no idea what i was referring to when I asked him to apply numbing gel on my gums before starting cleaning as my gums get very sensitive and it hurts me during cleaning. The office smelled like someone was smoking cigarets-I think there is also some sort of a renovation or construction going on at the back of the office. Looks super outdated and ripped chairs. Worst dentist experience ever! I went in for a cleaning and was done in less than 10 minutes. The doctor barely touched my teeth and then only felt the need to polish my front teeth. This was the far most horrible experience!!! All the negative reviews are 100% TRUE. I brought my kids to get there check up but one of my daughters needed to get braces omg just horrible after spending about an hour and a half on getting measured, pictures taken to see if my insurance was going to cover her braces we are told to come back in a month to see what are the results and so on, well we go back in a month with our appt, not only we waited about an hour until finally called just to find out they lost everything that was done to my daughter nothing got sent out to the insurance,even her file was not found on top of that and the lady that sits in a corner i guess they call her like the "manager" really that label falls extremely short on her,she was extremely rude,unprofessional!! i walked out with my daughter and never again will i come here or recommend this place because it was truly a horrible experience read more

i don't even want to give this place any stars. This dental office should be shut down they are disgusting, rude, and extremely unprofessional. This was my first and last time there. Anyway, I took my son there for a routine dental cleaning they asked how long its been since he's been seen by a dentist I told them so they did X-rays after that we waited for the dentist to come in well it all went down hill from there he said my son had no cavities I think he didn't even read the X-rays ,and as far as the cleaning goes they did absolutely nothing for my sons teeth I mean it was ridiculous there was nothing done to my son's teeth as far as cleaning is concerned it was like he said ok open up he may have touched his teeth with a tool, but there was no cleaning of the teeth what so ever no cleaning, no polish, no nothing my son still had food stuck in his teeth from his lunch. I was furious I mean i know my dental coverage is limited,but I know whats covered, and a routine dental cleaning is most def covered by my plan i mean its preventive care. I came home and called the insurance company to let them know what had happened they are looking into the matter. In my opinion, this dental office is nothing but fraudulent so definitely stay away it wasn't clean either the chairs in the waiting room were very dirty and the dental room was poorly lit.
