After moving to Bayside a couple years a ago and testing a couple of different dentists for my 6 month cleanings... Eten has become my regular dentist. No need to search anymore. The WORST! Mercenary. I went to their office and asked if they accept my dental insurance. I was told "yes we do accept your insurance" and to come back the next day to see the dentist.. When I saw him the following day, he said with distain that he would NOT take my case "because your insurance pays us less". Run don't walk away from this office! I did! read more

This dental office provides the best service I have ever had in my life in NY. Dr. Hwang understands the patient's concerns and always explain procedure plans and other treatment option. I had a bad experience in a different dental office asking me to pay money for my root canal; luckily, I found later with Dr. Hwang that there was no problem with my teeth. I trust this place and the other workers there are also really friendly. I have done my crown in here and no issue at all. 100% recommendable doctor!!!!! read more

The most terrible experience ever! The doctor takes barely one minute to take a look at my teeth. He said that" since YOU didn't take x-ray, it's your responsibility to take any risks, I can't see any problems right now." I explained to him that I don't know this at the very beginning, so can I take the X-ray right now? He refused to let me take X-ray. All I feel is that he only cares about MONEY, he won't even spend more than five minutes to take care of his patient. read more

I want to share a heart-warming story that happened at Eten Dental with Dr. Hwang: Dr. Hwang impressed me as the most honest, sincere, caring doctor I've ever met during our 50 years living in New York. This heart-warming story goes as follows: My wife, Young Kim, had her scaling done in Nov. 2021. On that day, she also committed to going thru the crooked front tooth correction without much considering the budget for the cost. She is a dementia patient (stage 4) and is incapacitated let alone being able to make any decision capability. I made a reluctant deposit, the first installment for the cost on that day. Two days later, I called the office to cancel her correction work because we could not afford the cost. One day in December 2021, I finally spoke to Dr. Hwang after he called three times and left 2 voice mails in which he informed us not to worry about it. Dr. Hwang not only accepted our apology (or mistake) but also offered his advice that if we have any problems with teeth, come and check them. What a doctor he has been! We were moved and thankful for his attention and close care to patients. This doctor has a clear calling from God, and he lives up to his calling. We love him. Bad services!!! Careless , unfriendly, thinking about money more than what you really need.....

Dr Hwang, was the WORST. I made an appointment for me and my mother. I haven't gone to a dentist in a while, so I expected a nice, thorough cleaning. Dr Hwang aggressively cleaned my teeth and it wasn't with care, it was very painful. Ive gotten my teeth cleaned before many times and I never experienced this type of pain. He cleaned my teeth under 5 minutes. I never gotten my teeth cleaned under 5 minutes. Those of you who visit a dentist for a cleaning knows, cleaning never takes under 5 minutes. It made me feel like he wanted to hurry up and leave. I explained to him about my teeth being in pain and he didn't even check, he just looked my x-ray. You can't completely tell just by looking at the x-ray. He made ZERO attempts ask where it hurt to check with his tools to solve or help why my teeth was in pain. He used his tool just swift it back and forth 2 times to clean and that was it. KEY word: swift....... As a doctor with many years of education with his own practice should never treat his paitent with ZERO care. My mother experienced the same thing, she said all he focused/ cared for was about selling her things to do with her teeth instead of focusing on her initial needs. (Her cleaning was also under 5 minutes) Dr Hwang's dental office clearly is a place where he rather build clients to make revenues for his business rather than care for his clients pain/needs. I have ZERO interest in going back for another cleaning or any type of business. On a good note: the receptionist there is very nice. But when you're coming in about your health, receptionist being nice isn't what you need. read more

Rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. I came in to get a crown replaced as my old one had fallen out. My main concern coming in was to cover the tooth that was once protected by the crown. Dr. Hwang made it clear that he would only place a crown if insurance covered it, regardless of whether my tooth was at risk of chipping while the crown was being made. In his exact words, "money matters." I had the means to pay for a temporary crown out of pocket but felt disgusted after he made it clear he was just in this to make money. I quickly went to another dentist and had a temporary crown placed the same day, who had a much better bedside manner and was patient in explaining the process. read more

I've been going to Dr. Hwang for the past 7 years and he is amazing! I refer my friends (and their kids) to his office all the time! One time, there was a miscommunication between a friend and the staff and it turned out the office didn't take his insurance but Dr. Hwang still gave him a free check-up out of courtesy. Not a lot of people would do that!! The staff is friendly and the site is super clean. They have tea and coffee for those who are accompanying the patients and should you forget to brush your teeth (yikes!) they have complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste. Have I mentioned they also call you a few days before to remind you of your appointment? Plus, their reading material is up to date so you won't be stuck reading a magazine from 5 years ago, haha! 5 stars, no brainer! read more

Worst dentist! I went there with my parents to get their teeth fixed. It was recommended by our insurance company and we were told that everything would be covered. Guess not. Suddenly the dentist doesn't know how to do a root canal but if you pay cash he knows how. Worst dentist! Please be careful for those people who are planning to use their insurance. I'd love to continue to come to this place, as my first experience here was pleasant (it's a lie -how can visiting a dentist be pleasant?). I two implants previously done at other place, and it was causing trouble. I knew I had to visit somewhere, but not the place I've got it done from. They seriously were ripping us off, and just have horrible service. Well here, I was given sufficient amount of information about my circumstance, what the implants have become, what kind of options I have, and pros/cons about each of those choices. The doctor did not force or remotely imply anything. He gave me facts, and little bit of his perspective and asked me to decide on what I'd like to do. So then I thought about it for a bit, and made my decisions in the following week. Scheduling went smooth, revisiting went smooth, insurance paperwork seemed smooth as well. I am not sure if there exactly is anything I could complain about, except for one thing. As I have mentioned, I no longer come here. The doctor is way too busy. It is just impossible for me to make an appointment here. I know I generally have a busy schedule, but it was just too difficult for me to find an appointment that is within a week. (This might be just me, but I live in the moment, so I hate scheduling things that are so far away). The busy schedule the doctor has also speaks for itself. If the place was so horrible, why would customers be consistently looking for the dude? :o read more

I came here with my mom a few days ago. The dentist told her that he cannot treat root canals or chipped teeth. He only specializes in the crown. He said " eventually your chipped tooth will smooth out on its own and you will be fine. Since you came all the way here you should get a cleaning." That is not why she made an appointment in the first place. It was for a chipped tooth!! She was told that they do not accept her insurance. We were referred by the insurance company. I don't think the insurance company would lie to us. The dentist then said my mom should go somewhere else and if she wants a crown from him then to come back. I have never met a dentist so unprofessional. My mother left feeling upset and nothing was done to help her. I would never recommend this dentist. read more

The doctor is so PUSHY!!!!! i told him my wisdom teeth DON'T BOTHER me yet he sent out to get accepted by my insurance. I go in and tells me so your here for your extraction right? I said no. got my annual check up here. didn't have to wait. i was in and out in 20minutes. doctor explains everything thoroughly and advises which procedures are urgent. doesn't push if you say decline. staff is professional and nice. nice artwork throughout the office. make sure to park in designated parking. take the elevator because the bldg is designed to be a labyrinth and you will get lost. read more

My family of four all go to Eten Dental. I am amazed at Dr. Hwang's patience and dedication to his profession. He's gone to great lengths to save my sorry teeth. This dental practice is horrible! Stay away! They just want to make money and try to talk you into getting extra services you don't need. Even services that are covered by insurance they tell you it won't be covered because of some ridiculous reason. The Dentist also said he didn't want to do the dental work needed if I was going to do it through insurance and said to go somewhere else. You're going to lose more customers and lose more money running a dental office like this. read more
