Planned this little staycation to escape the heat in the valley and the fact that our electricity was going to be turned off for maintenance of power supplies in the valley. Beautiful view! walking distance to the beach literally across the street. Nice small quaint hotel. Rooms appear clean. Fridge in room, TV, AC, desk, small closet, keurig, and ceiling fan. We got lucky and found a metered parking spot right in front. After 6pm it's free. We arrived around 5:40. Check-in is 4-6 pm. Let me preface this by saying I am not trying to be negative, but just honest. I gave this property a 3 rating because while I reserved my room with an ocean view earlier in the week, I showed up and was told that all rooms were gone with an ocean view I showed them my confirmation and then I was told that there was another room that was ready and I could have that one but it was more expensive.. No thank you. I said i requested a room with a view and received a response that it would be accommodated. Then I was told, well there is one that faces the front but we can't seem to get the guy out of the room to which I kindly asked , well what time is check out. He stated 11am, so then why is a guest still in the room? He told me to come back in an hour and hopefully the room would be ready. IT'S HOT and I was fit to be tied, but because we are right at the beach, we just walked over and sat for a while before coming back to finally check in. They provide amenities in a very small amount. Like only one person can use the shower gel. The bed did not have a top sheet. That was a first for me. I can't sleep under the duvet because of menopause so having a top sheet is nice. Not a very comfortable sleep for me, as bed was very firm. Toilet "ran" all night. Basically if you want peace and quite, stay somewhere else, but if you want great access to the beach and don't mind outside noise(people and cars), then this is the place Not a pleasant experience, but I managed. Con- Parking on premises is $36 night

I stayed here for 8 nights and will stay there again. They upgraded me from a Queen to a King (thanks). When my flight was delayed they let me check out late...and when I accidentally slept past my flight, the front desk called and woke me up lol. It's expensive, but that's the going rate - and much cheaper than other area hotels. Same for their parking - $30ish/night but I didn't have to worry about my car being towed. Perfect location. I was impressed with the kitchenette, didn't expect that. 2 fridges - wow. I'd def recommend the Bayside. My room over looked the parking lot lol. These pics are from outside my front door, "garden courtyard." Nice ambiance. Also you need a key to obtain access to the hotel...which is a huge security feature. No bums could sneak in!

Perfect location and friendly staff! We stayed overnight in this cozy hotel and when we got there it was a nice little hotel with friendly staff members. Excellent for short term stay. Room was super clean and is walking distance to Santa Monica Pier. Parking is a little tight but it was ok for us.

My girlfriend and I are wrapping up our 5th and last day here. We will be back. The hotel, which I was told was recently remodeled, is wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly, courteous, and helpful. They have complementary beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas to take to the beach, which is across the street and a 5-10 minute walk to the pier. Highly recommended.

This is, without a doubt, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The duvet cover was stained with... something. I rather sleep in my car than stay here ever again. I then proceeded to ask for another duvet. Most hotels can do this, but apparently, they do not have any spare duvets. They did, however, have another cover, which was also stained. They handed us the duvet cover and said they can not come up to change it. Strange. What takes things to a whole new level, is that the night manager said he would discount our stay. How kind we thought until we asked him whether or not it would be credited back to our card. The manager then said that he was not able to do anything about the charge after we booked the room. I would highly suggest everyone avoid a hotel that has dirty linens and a staff that will lie to their guests. The only convenient thing about this hotel is the location to the beach.

Employees and GM are amazing. Their customer service goes beyond and the extra mile to make you stay really comfortable. ROB, The manager explained few facts about the city rules and guide us to visit restaurants and local places.

Recently stayed here for a girls overnight trip with my daughter. We enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean, nicely decorated with beach decor. Bed was decent. Within walking distance to the beach. We were able to spend the evening at the Santa Monica Pier had dinner and walked on the beach then next day went and enjoyed the day at the beach. Overall experience was nice and comfortable. The only complaint is in LA all hotels you have to pay about $30 for parking I don't blame the hotel they have to do what they have to do especially being close to the beach. Parking lot is small on a first come first serve basis so I Made sure not to check in too late and we got a spot. There is no pool or jaccuzzi so if you are looking for those amenities not the place for you. Front desk was polite and easy checkin.

The tub is the highlight. One comment would be that when we checked in with Anthony, who was so sweet to our toddler, also kept telling us we were getting upgraded to a very nice room. We got all excited. It was a normal room. The "very nice upgrade" just meant that we were on floor 5. I barely call that an upgrade but ok. - we asked for a crib, and we go a nice crib with a cute little baby soap kit from noodle and boo- very nice touch. And baby robes for the kids- my toddler loved it. My toddler was on a rollaway bed and they were super accommodating about it- great experience on that front. - balconies are tiny and I never saw anyone out when I sat out - pool staff was super nice. It was a chilly weekend and the pool could have been warmer (I couldn't get in, but I really don't like cold water). - the beach chairs are also very nice and we were surprised to find them available - they were extremely pleasant about our friends visiting us every day! - the lobby waiter during the day was almost inexistant. We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. The woman at night was great. Now for the food...: - coast has a great breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent (though stupid expensive for pancakes) - pico is a good spot for shrimp cocktail and calamari. Hasn't seen shrimps that big in a long time. - overall the food was good everywhere but way overpriced.... The kids menu are ridiculous... hard to justify spending $28 on kids pancakes. That being said, the portions were the same as adult portions... maybe make the portions smaller, and price more accessible? Overall we had a great stay, and while on the expensive side, we agreed we would come back. Nicely done!

This happened on 7/28/2024. I walked home and within a few hours, I began projectile vomiting, among other things. I definitely know it was the breakfast steak, which I usually never get. I thought it would pass in a few days, no big deal. It did not, and it turned into Sepsis and Pancolitis within a week. I was bleeding internally and by the next Sunday, I called the paramedics to my home because I could not stand up. I almost lost my life. I spent almost 40 days in the hospital over the next 4 months - it's now May 2026 and I still need one surgery that my insurance does not cover. I had every complication under the sun. I lost my home, my new office that I just signed the lease for with an ocean view, my vehicle, my good credit, but most importantly, my good health. I had never been admitted to the hospital before in my life. I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, so I lived a very healthy lifestyle, working out frequently, clean diet. I contacted ETC Hotel group, Edward, who owns the Coast Restaurant in Shutters along with Casa Del Mar next door. They had no response for me. I am forced to get a lawyer now. I was supposed to join LAXPD that year. I already finished testing. This has, clearly, been put on hold. Edward was the one who did not get back to me. I emailed corporate and his personal email. Update: June 9, 2026. Hello Elica Y. I am highly offended by your response. Please, no response is better than a lie. There was no comprehensive review. Your insurance company, United, requested information from my lawyers which has not been sent out yet. In fact, according to my bank statements, I dined at your restaurant, Coast, the evening before AND the morning of this incident. Chef Vitorrio would always bring out food for me as we were very friendly and I was a local. Do better. Say nothing.

I needed a place that could comfortably accommodate my dad, my dog, and me while allowing me to shuttle back and forth to the hospital easily. The Ambrose ended up being just about a two-minute drive from the medical center, which made an enormous difference. When my mom had surgery there a few years ago, I stayed closer to the ocean. Even though it was only about a mile and a half away, the traffic made it take 15 minutes each way to get to the hospital. This time, being so close made everything so much easier during a stressful few days when I was going back and forth constantly. The property itself was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. It was also incredibly convenient to have Tartine right across the street for coffee, breakfast, and quick refreshments. There are also plenty of nearby shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and even specialty markets like Erewhon within minutes. Most importantly, the hotel was very accommodating for my dog Grace, which was essential for our stay. All around, it was a wonderful experience, and I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it--especially for anyone who needs to be close to UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.

The great thing about the suite setup is that the living room with a pull out couch is separated by a door to the bedroom; you could watch TV in one room and not bother the people in the other room. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) The walls were thick, as was the main door and hotel noise and street noise was minimal. They have a pool on the 3rd floor that doubles as the covered drop off/entrance area and it was very nice. The breakfast buffet was solid (include made to order eggs), but it was too expensive (approx. $33 per person-tip included.) The best part about our stay were the pillows. Down pillows! The most comfortable pillows I have ever slept on! The beds were solid too. What else? You're a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica Pier and Beach. You're within an 8 minute walk to McDonald's for breakfast (cheaper than the hotel buffet!) and your about a 10 minute walk to the 3rd St Promenade.
