I just finished up a three week stay at Su Casa and it was the best hotel I've ever stayed at in my life. It really does feel like a second home. The staff couldn't be nicer and on point with anything and everything you may need the location is literally on the beach you can't get any closer and the views from my room were just insane every single day. Venice Beach is hectic, but Su Casa seems to bypass insanity and provide a tranquil, peaceful, relaxing, and comfortable place to stay amidst the Chaos.. Su Casa is one of many Airbnb style hotels that are located directly on the Venice Boardwalk with a full frontal view of Venice Beach. I've stayed in three so far. Su Casa is the least clean of the three. I saw and reported three baby roaches (bathroom and kitchen); two bird feces on the front window and several on its windowsill (the window opens inward, so the outside of it can be cleaned); and an oven broiler covered in old dirt that made it unsuitable for food. That's not hygienic. The front door peephole is covered with an opaque substance that makes it impossible to see through it. That's unsafe. The neighbors are aggressive and loud when you walk by to get to the front door of Su Casa. I wish there were a different entrance to Su Casa. The neighbors are abusive. Su Casa doesn't have an elevator. However, some of the staff at the front desk might help you carry your heavy bags up all those stairs. That's nice. Those troublesome issues weren't dealbreakers, and since I was already there enjoying the great ocean view, I extended my stay with an offer of an extended-stay discount. That's nice. At checkout, the manager converted that extended-stay discount into the "for your troubles" discount. What's in a name? read more

Been staying here one night for 400$ per night and they decide to charge me a deposit 100$for dirty hand towel With which I washed my child's hands. I was thinking for $400 per night. I'll make sure to state this review only speaks to our experience at Su Casa and won't include the sad state Venice Beach is in, along with a lot of LA's surrounding areas right now--but as a local, I'll just say this was such a pleasant and amazing getaway! We celebrated my daughter's birthday and, from booking the room to check-in and throughout the stay, Kyle at Su Casa was incredible. I never expected such friendly and helpful assistance when we were booking a local two days away from home after the grueling pandemic. I think the thing to point out is that this hotel is steps away from the sand and beach. Are you also steps away from all of the homeless living on the beach, and also what seemed to be a men's recovery home next door? Honestly, yes--but welcome to LA! And as locals, it's more about how safe I felt there and never once felt regret in booking such a quaint and lovely hotel room at a great price. We wanted Venice Beach and not Santa Monica, so I think we picked the absolute best place to stay The room was lovely and clean. Parking nearby was also convenient and affordable, again, for LA. Having a kitchen, stocked with everything we needed, including a full sink, microwave and stovetop, was awesome--rare. Marijuana smoke. Do not book it if you have kids. On Thursday, December 30th, 2021, we checked in to Su Casa at Venice Beach around 7pm (see Figure 3), having reserved a two-night stay in Room #11, a second-story room with a beach view, via Expedia on 12/20 (see Figure 2). The entire hotel had been advertised as "smoke-free" (see Figure 1), which was very important to us since we were traveling with an infant and another young child. With the help of the hotel staff, we had begun carrying our luggage up the stairs to the room when we noticed the smell of what seemed to be stale marijuana smoke. It was quite strong on the second floor, and so strong in the room itself that it made us uncomfortable. We stayed in the room for a few minutes, after which our throats and eyes were beginning to hurt. We then went downstairs to the desk to discuss the smell with the hotel staff, spending at least fifteen minutes there before returning to the room to see if we were willing to stay. The smell of smoke was as strong as ever the second time we visited the room, and we do not believe it would have dissipated before all of us were feeling miserable. We do not know whether the previous occupant had smoked in the room, whether it was coming from elsewhere in the building through the ventilation system, or whether (as the staff claimed) the smoke originated from the outside the hotel, but it was in any case not a "smoke-free" room at that time, and not a place we could stay with our kids. As it was getting late and the hotel staff seemed unwilling to issue a refund, we chose to end our vacation early rather than check into a different hotel and pay for another room, canceling our reservation through Expedia (see Figure 4) and driving home the same night. It was a five-hour trip back to San Jose. read more

What AMAZING place to stay at Venice Beach! This location is perfect ...just at the start of the boardwalk and within a short scooter or bike ride to the Santa Monica pier. We checked in later than expected due to a late flight and were so thankful the owner waited for us, helped with our luggage and ensured we were settled before closing up thanks Kyle!! Our room was perfect, super comfortable bed, a nice kitchen space allowing for cooking and eating, a living room area PERFECT to sit with a morning mimosa and watch the waves come in, a large bathroom with plenty of hot water and doors to close off areas for privacy. There is a restaurant directly below that makes grabbing a quick meal a super convenience. The hustle and bustle of the boardwalk wasnt much of a bother at all and we came for the experience to be on the boardwalk. The staff during our stay were just all so great. Brian always made sure we had everything we needed daily and helped with directions to get around. When we were leaving I said I had wished our room had a balcony as I was chatting with yet another great associate and turns out he says oh we have those! This review is for the house that is right next to a building with rooms. Friends of mine booked rooms and they looked very nice. Piece of . Rooms are dirty. Trash can had previous guest's old fucking socks and other trash in it. Rooms are dirty, heater is not working, only a/c in the winter, and it's freaking cold right now in Cali. We went outside on the ocean front walk, homeless people everywhere! They don't make fuss, just yell out loud once in while. I'm used to it, but it definitely not worth $500 for a beachfront room for 2 days. The restaurant though was only a mile away and the food was amazing! So I am upping my review too a 2 star as you can definitely get a good food nearby. read more

Me and a friend booked here to spend a long weekend in LA. The price seemed reasonable and the location is right on Venice Beach. They were very kind when we arrived and offered us a complimentary upgrade for the room, changing from the studio to a one bedroom, which was ideal as we ended up being in 3 person. The apartment was clean, great view on the beach. Downstair they have a small cafe which has a patio right on Venice beach, serving great brunch at a very moderate price. We loved our staying here except for one thing. Right in front of the hotel there are many homelesses, who leave trash behind and at night is not the best area to hang if you are alone. We would always go out at night in different areas so that was not a problem for us. I would definitely come back. read more

I came down to LA to enjoy the beach from Redlands for a few days and found out about this place through some friends that live in the area. Finding the hotel was a bit of a challenge and the big surprise was where the hotel was tucked away. It was located directly off the beach and the room I was in had a huge balcony with a view of the beach. The hosts Kyle and Dave were great and accommodating and were more than willing to take the time to sit down and talk about the area and make us feel at home. My uneasiness getting out of the traffic went away after talking with them and settling into the room. I'll provide some pictures of the rooms but I was surprised how the hotel kept some of the more vintage architectural design but still kept a more modern feel. The room had a stove and appliances, plates, bowls, utensils, and cooking things, which allows you to do pretty much what you normally can if you wanted to pick up groceries to save money versus eating out. You're right off of Venice beach at the hotel and only a couple miles of walking from the Venice pier and fairly close to Santa Monica pier also. The beach is huge...so if you want to head out of the hotel and walk out on the beach to see an awesome sunset,while hearing the waves crash on the beach, make sure to leave a bit earlier because it's a deep beach. I will be coming back for sure and felt it was well worth it. I hope others can find this gem in the rough like I have. read more

This place is a little hard to find when you're driving here because you go through this back street and there's no sign from the back of the hotel. Also, you have to park in another parking lot down the street as this hotel is right on the beach so there's no parking there. The walk isn't bad though and you get to enjoy Venice Beach. Also, this hotel is on top of a cafe, which makes it even harder to find. I will say, Venice beach was a little on ghetto side for me, but inside this hotel, was very nice. The people working there for great, always willing to help, there's complimentary breakfast, free wifi, and the room was a suite, with a living room, kitchen, bedroom. Can't beat the view of the beach right out your window! There's a drug recovery center around the corner from here, but we had no problems, and like I said, Venice Beach is a little ghetto. If getting a good nights sleep is important to you then I highly advise you to stay away form this hotel. We spent almost $2,000 to spend 4 nights here and every morning between 5-6 am the cleaning crew for the restaurant downstairs would arrive and start blaring music where you could hear every word. Our one bedroom apartment was considered the most expensive in the hotel but it was located right above the restaurant's kitchen (which is owned by the same owner as the hotel). So every night we would have to go down and bang on the side door until someone would finally acknowledge us and turn the music down. We brought it up with the front desk staff each morning but were met with apologetic but ultimately useless pacification and justifications. One staff member told us that this issue had come up before but the owner did not care as his #1 concern was the restaurant, not the hotel and there was nothing they could do about it. After three days of talking to everyone we could find they finally offered us a $100 refund... out of $2,000. Even if the cleaners do not wake you up the restaurant itself starts bright and early every morning at 7 am with very loud music. Ultimately the staff there do not care at all about the hotel guests and the owner does not care enough to do anything about it. Also the apartment was advertised for four people but the pull out couch was pitiful. It had the same quality as the futon in your extended family's basement that you had to sleep on during vacations as a kid. It was approximately 2 inches thick and rested upon the most uncomfortable steel frame imaginable. We had to take it out of the couch and put it on the floor. Also there are a ton of windows in the room with the thinnest white curtains imaginable. Basically you need an eye mask and ear plugs in order to get some sleep here. The dining chairs were also battered and held together with what looked like a foam pad strapped on top of the collapsed bottom. This was indicative of the whole apartment as it had a shabby feel of a 10 year old renovation with very little care or maintenance done since then. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money somewhere whey they care about you. read more

This is not your typical hotel. When their web page says,"convenient parking solutions", what they really mean is good luck finding anything. We spend 15 minutes driving around trying to find the parking, when we called the front desk, they told us to park in the 2 tow away parking spots while we checked in. Once we went inside to find out the parking situation, we were told that we can try and find a parking spot in the street but would have to move by 8 am for traffic. We asked if there were any parking garages we could try. Front desk person said there "may" be 2 in either direction. Sadly, these shut down at 11 pm and will tow you. The neighborhood is not conducive to leaving valuables in the car and we decided there HAVE to be better options. Told them to cancel the reservation but they insisted that they won't. So I will be getting legal involved. Do not recommend. read more

BUYER BEWARE, FALSE ADVERTISING No parking options, if you have a rental car there is nowhere to park it. They falsely advertise that they have 'several parking options available' however you have to illegally park in a tow away zone and risk getting towed just to check in. Then drive around for over an hour in an attempt to find any available street spot even those mikes away. Then they suggest you get up early to move your car to avoid traffic and getting a ticket. Lady at Check-in said this happens all the time. This hotel is only good if you Uber in and out, not if you have a rental car. None of which they tell you in advance. Finally had to cancel and find a different hotel at 10Pm as there was no where to leave our rental car, but they refuse to refund our stay even partially and denied any cancelation to Priceline. I honestly have to say I had a great time. And I'm glad I found this place. I had originally booked this place Friday to Saturday night. But ran into personal problem and wasn't able to check in on Friday. I called the hotel and Spoke to David. Who was very understanding and told me he would refund my Friday and I should be fine. At my arrival on Saturday evening I was greeted by Kyle who was very helpful as well he checked us I. And walked me to the little cottage I was going to be staying at. Also payed a fee for my cousins dog whom was going to be staying with us. And it wasn't a problem. Walking into the cottage it was great. I loved the set up they had. Only thing I didn't like was that it smelled very strongly of fabuloso. At least I know they cleaned. Walked into our apartment for the weekend. And was completely involved. The place needs maybe a big of an upgrade in some rooms but it's a very nice place. It's walking distance from Venice boardwalk. So that's a huge plus. We had a great time. I only gave it a 4 and star because parking was very hard to find the first 20min than luckily a park opened up "Venice beach parking" next door and the hotel was able to give permits. The room was very nice about 400 ft , the view was Amazing. Our room was hot and lights went out for a sec but The manager and reps accommodated us and made this a stress free night and i will be returning. The atmosphere surrounding the place was amazing and exactly what you want from a trip to LA's beaches. The air-conditioning was broken in our room on an 80+ degree day. Guest services said, "what do you expect me to do about it?" When I called to inform them. I was told I could not have a fan, and that they would not open the windows for me which were locked. We reserved weeks in advance to stay here for Valentine's Day, we arrived to discover they do not provide any parking guests are forced to walk over a mile from the nearby neighborhood to their hotel. So on top of being unethical to run a hotel with no parking it also doesn't follow federal mandate which states all businesses must be accessible to disabled patrons. They actually force you to park a mile away in nearby neighborhood streets then walk on foot back to their hotel. Horrible service, horrible accommodations and an absolute waste of your money. We had to leave very late on Valentines evening because the heat was so unbearable it was making us sick. We wound up staying in a Motel 6 which was a massive improvement. Don't make the mistake we made, and give this business any of your time or money. read more

Right on the Venice Beach ocean front. GPS has diffuculty getting you to the front entrance. Great location for those wanting to be near the beach. However located right next to a rehab building (occupants come out periodically in their fenced in area which is next to the front entrance of Su Casa). I came in on a late flight and arrived at 1130 pm. It was great that the owner made arrangements for me to get into the front entrance. It was good that I Googled what the front entrance looked like or I would have been lost (taxi's GPS dropped me 2 blocks from this place). Many homeless people around the building but they didn't bother me. There is a nice restaurant next to this place that has 50% off breakfast between 0800-0900...great food, service, and coffee. The room I stayed in was good and gave me a great view of the beach and ocean. However, the room was not clean when I first arrived. The furniture and room was somewhat worn and needed repairs. I wouldn't complain but I paid a alot per night. Had to look for cleaning people everyday to get clean towels and more toilet paper. Their wifi was close to non-existent while I was there (they provide free wifi). Glad I brought a mifi or I wouldn't have been able to work. Very over priced. But you get location. I'll probably look at staying in Santa Monica next time I go to Cali again. read more

This place is right on the boardwalk. There is a restaurant below. Hotel guest gets 50% off breakfast. We parked in the public parking spaces to the east of the hotel. Which is a 2 minute walk. The hotel will validate the parking so guests won't have to pay $20 daily. We were just a 20 minute walk to the Santa Monica Pier. We were close to muscle beach. The hotel is all suite based. Comes equipped with a coffee maker, microwave, stove, sink & dishwasher! Was super roomy for my family of 4. There was a comfy bed, a pull out couch & we brought in a roll away. They also accommodated my 50lb hybrid. That is a plus for us, as we always travel with our dog. The A/C worked great! The tub was huge. The panoramic windows with Ocean View was great for people watching. Front desk- David, Kyle & Robert are just the best! We loved loved our stay & will always stay here with our dog. read more

I use to live just down the beach from this hotel and I miss the area so I stay here when I get a chance. The Restaurant downstairs is the Figtree, which is my favorite for organic fare and handcrafted espresso. If you're looking for a full suite with everything from a living room with an ocean view to a modern kitchen, this is it. Also, the beds are so comfortable, I asked about them and was told they were a special ordered high quality anti-allergen something or other. Better than what I have at home, I remember. I read that some people were confused on how to get to it, but since I lived here I can tell you it's easy. Drive to the OCEAN off of Rose Avenue and turn left at the last street (Speedway) before you hit SAND. You're at the end of the continent- there's only so many ways you can go without an amphibious vehicle. Also- I saw some people had concerns about parking- Su Casa uses the same parking lot I used when I lived in Venice. Neither I nor my neighbors had a problem there, and it's got an ocean view too. If you're planning on staying here, enjoy~ I recommend it to my friends & family when they visit as well. You just can't believe the amazing view you will wake up to. read more

Under no circumstances stay here. To begin with we were helpfully quoted a good price on a beach facing room, for which we made a reservation with the general manager. Unfortunately this was, apparently, all lies. On arriving in the area after a long drive down the coast, we were immediately disappointed by the seedy, sketchy surroundings. The place is inaccessible by car and we were told we would have to call to be told exactly how to get there. On calling I was told that there was no record of the reservation and that there was no way to reach the general manager to clear up the mistake. I then asked for a recommendation for another place to stay, but the receptionist couldn't give me an idea of the rates or vacancies for the place he suggested and refused to find out for me. Overall an extremely frustrating experience. With customer service like that, they do not deserve customers. read more

My fiance and I booked the Su Casa based off the great reviews we read online. We booked ocean view suite. Late afternoon before we checked in we received a phone call from David stating that the previous guest never left the room and they could put us in another room (lesser quality). They were unclear as to what compensations they would make for us and only offered free parking to start. Then we arrived at the hotel, David gave us the keys to another room and the room was filthy. There was hair in the made bed and crackers on the floor. There also was no safe to lock valuables in and the windows did not lock. Immediately we told David about the dirty bed, he had some attitude with us and offered us another room and one night for free. David came to check out the next room with us, however, it also had hair in the sheets. Quickly David's attitude turned and he was more than apologetic and embarrassed. He took us to the linen closet, the linens all had hair in them! I was extremely uncomfortable and only wanted to stay elsewhere. The next problem was that since we booked through hotels.com, we were at the mercy of Su Casa in terms of what our options were. After a lot of stress and much back and forth on our vacation David agreed to a free visit for us and to allow us to transfer to our original room on the second night once the previous guest checked out. We were very much trapped and out of options. I desperately did not want to stay there and they would not pay for a relocation for us. So we checked the bedsheets with David while he and someone else (not sure who she was) fondled them and checked for some clean sheets amongst the dirty ones. I slept with a hoodie, pants, and socks each night so that nothing touched the grimy sheets. I didn't want to chance getting sick, bed bugs, or even lice. Once we transferred to the ocean view suite the room appeared to be in better condition, but I seriously doubt it was up to code. Also, there was no dead bolt on the door. We woke up to the sounds of the homeless playing a song on his guitar and the maid in and out of the laundry room at 6:30 AM. While I appreciate David trying to work with us, overall the experience was destroyed. I was so paranoid each night and never slept. David also offered us a complimentary bottle of wine and a complimentary dinner at the hotel's restaurant. I respectfully declined since I questioned their hygiene and wanted nothing from them. Also, it definitely would've been nice to know that Su Casa is literally right next to a rehab center and as I was walking to the shared general parking lot 2 blocks away I was being cat called by the patients. There was also a row of homeless people directly in front of the beach. This appeared to be the safest walk way though since the back alleys were full of homeless and looked worse. Do not stay here! Su Casa was like hell and it is well worth it to pay a few extra bucks or stay somewhere not on the beach for the same price. read more

Just got here. This place is a s*** hole. We booked it off of hotwire.com. Unbelievable. For the "discounted" rate we paid to stay here we paid $200 plus $25 for parking once we got there which wasn't mentioned ANYWHERE. We definitely could have found a better place locally for the same amount. Unbelievable. In addition, the front desk attendant at night seemed like he was high or out of it. Not to mention we got there extremely late at night. Where we parked was sketchy... homeless people in tents on the beach, and random people walking around. When we got to our room, the door was WIDE open, the window was perched open with a kleenex box and when I took out the kleenex box, it felt as though the window was going to fall outward if I hadn't guided it to close. I cannot imagine people paying the $$$ price range for this place. The room felt dirty, floors didn't seem to be clean, counter tops were not clean - you can see water marks from whoever was there before. I was so disenchanted I checked for bed bugs. Plus a guy started singing outside at 8:30am on a Sunday morning with a guitar, and microphone. Had a terrible sleep, experience, and completely lost out on $225. Location isn't everything. I went for the "deal" on hotwire.com.. not really caring where we stayed just wanted to be close to the airport and I made the mistake of choosing a "boutique hotel with kitchen and free breakfast".
