This is my absolute favorite hotel in Santa Monica! The front desk staff--especially Nancy--always takes such amazing care of me. The room service is consistently on point, the suites are completely gorgeous, and the ocean view with the backdrop of the pier is just stunning. I also love the food here; everything at the restaurant is delicious, and the Caesar salad and shrimp is just so yummy. The entire property and the rooms have the perfect mix of an old-world, historic charm and a modern vibe. Oh and the lobby/bar is extra cozy too!

Beautiful hotel! The location is stellar, literally on the beach! Service is impeccable, the hotel is clean and well run. There are so many beautiful areas to lounge and take in the view. It feels serene, even though that you are in the middle of it all! Highly recommended if you are looking for a romantic stay on the coast!

We stayed at Casa del Mar Santa Monica for 3 nights, expecting a luxury 5-star experience, but unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing hotel stays we've ever had. The carpet in our room was extremely dirty, the bed sheets made our bodies itch, and there were mosquitoes, bugs, and even ants inside the room. During our stay, both my children and I became sick and experienced vomiting, which made the trip even more stressful. When we reported these issues, the front desk repeatedly told us they were "aware of the situation because of the heat" and apologized. While we appreciate the apology, simply saying "sorry" does not solve the problem or make up for the health issues and discomfort we experienced. For a hotel that charges premium rates and promotes itself as a 5-star luxury property, the cleanliness and room conditions were far below expectations. I expected much higher standards of hygiene, maintenance, and guest care. I hope management takes these issues seriously so other families do not have the same experience.

It's a very swanky hotel. The lobby is on the third floor and that is quite surprising. The service was 10/10, but the bar also closes at 10-ish pm which was early. The lobby / restaurant can directly see the ocean and has a splendid ambiance.

I love this hotel and it is ICONIC in Santa Monica. It is prime real estate right on the beach and the views are spectacular! I love the pool cabanas and the vibes are super chill and beachy, of course! It is a tad dated and could use an update but it's still awesome! The restaurant is solid and you can stare at the ocean all day!! It's gorgeous from the outside and cozy and classy inside.

A beautiful hotel with a beautiful bar in the lobby. After taking a walk along the beach, I sometimes stop by here to have drinks. My girlfriend and I also come here with our family to have appetizers and drinks during holidays. We recently had one "less than polite" waitress, but their service is usually quick and professional. I highly recommend you to stop by to have a drink while enjoying the great views (see my photos).

I had a great experience from the moment we pulled up to the moment we departed. Terrific service by Sarah and the front desk and the entire valet and bell hop team, attentive and respectful. My room was decorated beautifully as is the entire hotel. The lobby is huge and has live music at night. The restaurant overlooks the beach and is tasty and the bar served great cocktails- I loved the pear! The hotel is next door to its sister location Shutters, which I plan to visit one day too. We ate next door at One Pico, it wasn't as good as Terraza on site, I felt. The spa was terrific for a massage but the lounge is too small and we had to interact with the other guests and it felt forced so some people wouldn't like it. Also when changing you have little privacy and the steam room is tiny. So don't expect much with the spa other than terrific massages. I would be curious to try the facials. I'll be back. Wonderful staff all around. Thanks for a special stay!

Such a great place to come back to during the holidays. Everything is so festive and I had a great chance to take lots of pics and hang with my friend beside the fireplace. Tanya and Bryan were our servers. The service is amazing.

The tub is the highlight. One comment would be that when we checked in with Anthony, who was so sweet to our toddler, also kept telling us we were getting upgraded to a very nice room. We got all excited. It was a normal room. The "very nice upgrade" just meant that we were on floor 5. I barely call that an upgrade but ok. - we asked for a crib, and we go a nice crib with a cute little baby soap kit from noodle and boo- very nice touch. And baby robes for the kids- my toddler loved it. My toddler was on a rollaway bed and they were super accommodating about it- great experience on that front. - balconies are tiny and I never saw anyone out when I sat out - pool staff was super nice. It was a chilly weekend and the pool could have been warmer (I couldn't get in, but I really don't like cold water). - the beach chairs are also very nice and we were surprised to find them available - they were extremely pleasant about our friends visiting us every day! - the lobby waiter during the day was almost inexistant. We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. The woman at night was great. Now for the food...: - coast has a great breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent (though stupid expensive for pancakes) - pico is a good spot for shrimp cocktail and calamari. Hasn't seen shrimps that big in a long time. - overall the food was good everywhere but way overpriced.... The kids menu are ridiculous... hard to justify spending $28 on kids pancakes. That being said, the portions were the same as adult portions... maybe make the portions smaller, and price more accessible? Overall we had a great stay, and while on the expensive side, we agreed we would come back. Nicely done!

This happened on 7/28/2024. I walked home and within a few hours, I began projectile vomiting, among other things. I definitely know it was the breakfast steak, which I usually never get. I thought it would pass in a few days, no big deal. It did not, and it turned into Sepsis and Pancolitis within a week. I was bleeding internally and by the next Sunday, I called the paramedics to my home because I could not stand up. I almost lost my life. I spent almost 40 days in the hospital over the next 4 months - it's now May 2026 and I still need one surgery that my insurance does not cover. I had every complication under the sun. I lost my home, my new office that I just signed the lease for with an ocean view, my vehicle, my good credit, but most importantly, my good health. I had never been admitted to the hospital before in my life. I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, so I lived a very healthy lifestyle, working out frequently, clean diet. I contacted ETC Hotel group, Edward, who owns the Coast Restaurant in Shutters along with Casa Del Mar next door. They had no response for me. I am forced to get a lawyer now. I was supposed to join LAXPD that year. I already finished testing. This has, clearly, been put on hold. Edward was the one who did not get back to me. I emailed corporate and his personal email. Update: June 9, 2026. Hello Elica Y. I am highly offended by your response. Please, no response is better than a lie. There was no comprehensive review. Your insurance company, United, requested information from my lawyers which has not been sent out yet. In fact, according to my bank statements, I dined at your restaurant, Coast, the evening before AND the morning of this incident. Chef Vitorrio would always bring out food for me as we were very friendly and I was a local. Do better. Say nothing.

I needed a place that could comfortably accommodate my dad, my dog, and me while allowing me to shuttle back and forth to the hospital easily. Even though it was only about a mile and a half away, the traffic made it take 15 minutes each way to get to the hospital. This time, being so close made everything so much easier during a stressful few days when I was going back and forth constantly. The property itself was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. It was also incredibly convenient to have Tartine right across the street for coffee, breakfast, and quick refreshments. There are also plenty of nearby shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and even specialty markets like Erewhon within minutes. Most importantly, the hotel was very accommodating for my dog Grace, which was essential for our stay. The TVs in each room were oversized and there was a decent sized mini fridge (Target and Trader Joes are just down the street - hello wine and beer!) The walls were thick, as was the main door and hotel noise and street noise was minimal. They have a pool on the 3rd floor that doubles as the covered drop off/entrance area and it was very nice.
