The place is clean and tidy, but Ole school services, no airbrushing and they use fans used to dry your nails.. wear sleeves for nail drying, or you will get cold with that fan facing you. I'm sorry that I have to give such a negative review, but after my experience yesterday, it's necessary. I made an appointment for a gel manicure at 3pm, and called on the day of to move it to 3:30pm, to which I was told no problem. I walked in at 3:30 and there were 3 nail technicians to 5 customers. My appointment started 20 mins late and the technician, who was also the owner, was working on me and another customer at the same time. She rushed through the beginning of my service, and even showed me her hand was shaking. While she was trimming my cuticles, she cut me. I started bleeding profusely and she kept trying to say it was my fault and I had a hangnail. I absolutely did not and told her I felt her cut me. I bled throughout the rest of my manicure as she kept trying to say she would make the bleeding stop. Eventually I broke down crying because of the pain and the alcohol she kept using to get the bleeding to stop. I ended up being there for an hour. I was not charged for the service, which I wouldn't have paid for anyway, but I will NEVER go back. I truly believe this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't been understaffed and seeing multiple customers at once. I almost left once the appointment ran 15 min late and I wish I had. read more

Very nice people and my gel Fill and polish was ok. Couldn't get to my regular girl, so I went here. Great, friendly place but missed the sides of some of my nails when polishing and shaped them differently than what I had. It wasn't terrible, but not what I am used to. I would do 5 stars because it was a really Nice experience, however the variety for colors wasn't that great. It may have just been bevause it was after the holidays but they showed me what was maybe 1/4 of the selection and claimed they were completely out of the others. But my nails still came out great, they just really had a small variety. And no matte finishing either. But they do have a dog!! He's a service dog and he is the most well behaved little guy. I was disrespected by owner. My foils kept coming off from the gel removal. He came over and yelled at me. Saying he was going to charge me more for the acetone. I thought he was kidding at first but he wasn't. And got very mad at me when I wanted to try a couple different colors on my nails before I choose one. He said I can do that but would charge me more. I am truly unsure how this place has such great ratings. I called earlier in the day and made an appointment for a spa pedicure at 3:30. I arrived promptly on time and walked in to two techs working on two clients and another client waiting ahead of me. I was greeted after a while (too long) and was told to pick a color and take a seat. Ok no problem. I wait for about ten minutes and one of the techs tells the owner's son (chilling on the floor behind reception desk) to "go wake up your dad". The owner comes out extremely grumpy, from being woken up from his nap I presume. He eventually gets me set up at a pedicure station with room temperature water and goes outside to smoke a cigarette. The other of the two techs is talking about him the whole time he's outside about how the other shouldn't have sent to wake him up because now he's grumpy. It is 3:55 by the time my pedicure begins. The tech doing it is clearly very inexperienced. I ask her to make my water warmer and she does. She was just very slow and shaky. Did not give me much confidence that she knew what she was doing. The entire time I'm receiving my pedicure people are walking in. There are several mistaken appointments. Also the other owner comes back from wherever she was. She jumps in to the madness. I ask my tech if it's always this chaotic and she answered "yes". One of the techs took a smoke break at one point (with a salon full of people) and the entire salon smelled of cigarettes after she was finished. All in all, this nail salon really needs to get its act together and hire a manager or don't accept so many people when you don't have the techs to follow through. Also, this may not be a turn off for you but it was for me. They have a dog who sits by the reception desk all day. Although I'm from out of town, I have family in the area and will never ever come back here. read more

I tried to stay with this salon through the transition of many new people but could not. I would make an appointment and they would take a walk in before me. They pay no attention to their clients. To much chatter with each other. Owners spent time flipping between clients and your appointment takes hours. I have switch to a new Manahawkin salon. They are wonderful. Always ready for you at your appointment time. They pay attention to the customer and my nails stay great for weeks. Save your money!! read more

I wish I could give this place less than a star. Wish I knew who did the nails of the people who gave it 5 stars. My pedicure was done by a very nice, but extremely inexperienced and not a confident young lady. The other girl who was doing pedicures looked experienced, but she was very loud, rude and looked as if she had much vetted things to do at the time. For my nails, I got the gentleman who owns the place. I was so relieved that I had the business owner for my hands. However my nails came out AWFUL. Clumpy, uneven, terrible. Ge also did not put the gel all the way back, so I will need to get them done again atleast a week early, but probably more because I don't think I can keep them looking this bad for that long. Anyway, He took a break to smoke, not caring or taking into consideration my time. The girl who did my pedicure was told to paint my nails, and needless to say, I am very dissatisfied. We are from Philadelphia and drove down to Jersey for July 4th weekend and my girlfriend wanted to get her nails done before we headed back home for work. She's a leasing specialist so she always has to look her best. We stopped by on a Sunday not knowing the hours of operation, the owner happened to be there to pick up something and decided to take us as a special walk-in from out of town even though they were closed. Jenny, the owner herself worked on my girlfriend's nails and was patient and informative the whole time. She got the job done quickly yet very detailed, making sure that everything was perfect. My girlfriend is usually very picky when it comes to who touches her nails. And from past experiences, she doesn't like getting gel. However, Jenny told us that the way she does it is unlike any other and that we were free to try it out and she'd remove it if we didn't like it. Well, once she was finished... my girl did NOT want to have it removed! It is now 2 weeks and her nails are still holding strong and she is receiving many compliments. If you're ever in the area, we highly recommend checking this place out! I went here yesterday at 5:30 pm to get my acrylic nails taken off. I normally don't go here but I was in a pinch and wanted them off fast and there was not many cars in the parking lot. I saw they closed at 7pm so I had plenty of time before they closed. As I went in the man at the front desk ask what I wanted, rude way to start the conversation but I shrugged it off and said I just wanted my nails taken off. At this point I noticed hes at the front desk with a beer and actively drinking it. He tells me they're closed as someone is getting there nails done and a tech is cleaning. He says they cleaned everything already and they're closed. I mention I saw they closed at 7pm and was confused. He shrugged and said they were closed. I went to my normal salon instead. I took my grandmother here today to get her nails done with me. While she was getting a pedicure, she inhaled some of the acetone that the girl was using and she started coughing and teared up. The owner quickly came over and told us that we could not receive the rest of the services we wanted to have because she was coughing. He said that I couldn't finish my nails either because I "had to take care of her." He rushed me out of there and demanded I put on my shoes and leave. He then ordered me to physically escort my grandmother out of the building. She is in perfect health and walks excellent. She did not need a physical escort. This man was so dramatic. My grandmother is very sensitive to the smell of acetone so that's why she was coughing. That was very rude and belittling of the owner. We ended up going to a different nail salon down the street called "Asian Nails". There, she did not cough even once. It was clearly just the acetone. I'm a healthcare worker and I would never expose my elderly relative to the public if I thought she was sick. The owner is extremely arrogant. He also overcharged us for her pedicure as she did not receive gel and I did and he charged us both the same. I didn't want to argue with him because I was so embarrassed about getting kicked out of the nail salon for such a stupid reason. He also made my grandmother walk out in the cold with the pedicure flip flops instead of letting her wait for her nails to dry so she could put her sneakers on because he seems to want her out of there immediately since she was coughing from the acetone. The demographics of this location include a high proportion of elderly people over the age of 65. If this owner cannot cater to these demographics then he should not be in business. I have been a customer of Bayside nails for just over 10 years with Nam at the helm and he makes sure that his team is right in with the customers. He cares that his customers are happy, and I have always been treated and greeted with friendly smiles, hellos..everyone there works nicely together there is always some music playing so if you don't feel like talking to can listen to the tunes. The women that are in charge of the pedicures do a very nice and thorough pedicure with the tub first scrubbed and then they put a liner in the tub for safety and hygiene..Bayside nails is always clean and spotless and Nam takes great pride in his shop. I was never really into getting my nails done on a regular basis, though I've tried through the years, it was always too costly and the maintenance was a PITA. However, when I started going to Bayside 10/2015 and the gel color lasted three weeks, I decided to try gel color over my natural nails. Each time, the color lasts at least two weeks, and I'm tough on my hands (I own a flower shop, and my hands are wet, often in gloves). Jenny and Tam (i think that's the gentleman's name) are always friendly, I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a seat, and they make a point to talk to customers, not just to other employees. It makes the hour there more enjoyable. I went to another salon one day, when they were closed, and it was not the same at all. I walked in and they had no 6 feet apart social distancing, I was early for my appointment and she was doing a woman's eye brows. Her client had no mask but she did. Then I got my nails done. I called in for a full sett of acrylics, I was told 40$. She then told me after doing 4 fingers of gel that she didn't feel like doing acrylic (bringing my charge up to 55$.) she told me she was going to charge me 65 $ for French tips. I gave her a reference photo and she said she doesn't like the shape I told her. I told her I liked the shape and she gave me a whole other length and shape. Wrong color too. They grew out in a week almost and she didn't trim my cuticles or do any oil or lotions and was rough. Made me bleed from the electric dermal as well read more

This salon if you would call it that is dirty and does horrible work! They have employees there that don't have there license working on customers! They do not sanitize their tools! I watched them put used tools into sanitary plastic without disinfecting! Also the work there is not good at all! I got jell nails once they came off my nails in two days. I went back was charged to replace them with "hard jell" as the owner put it and those chipped off after a week! Also owner is very disrespectful to employees and customers! I came here for the first time today, after many, many disappointing nail places further south in Manahawkin. I saw very positive reviews for here and so I decided I would give it a shot while I killed time before a doctors appointment right near by. Let me tell you, sometimes I feel uncomfortable at nail salons because of the awkward small talk, and feeling nervous to tell them what I really want. I hate getting pedicures and getting a new set put on my fingers is something I was dreading (why I had them off for months!!) The second I walked in, I was greeted with friendly faces and hellos. I was introduced by name to everyone who worked in the salon, and while I was getting my pedicure, the girl who did my toes (Lady), the lady getting her toes done next to me, and the girl doing HER pedicure (Gabby) were all talking and joking around. The pedicure felt AMAZING! She massaged my legs super well and even helped me pick a color for my toes and picked the gel polish to match. When I was done, I headed over to Jenny (the owner) for my new set to be put on. I told her my concerns in that my nails ALWAYS come off within a week / two weeks and get SUPER grown out and gross. She promised me this would be the best set I've ever had! She did things super differently than I've ever had, and really took her time. She had to take her son to Boy Scouts (he was sitting in the salon and he was super sweet, too!) and even though she had to be somewhere, she didn't rush. The woman next to me has been going there for six years!! She hugged me when I was done and I feel like I'm part of the family now, hahaha. I will never go anywhere else for my nails ever again! This experience was mediocre at best. Scheduled two weeks ahead for three pedicures and one manicure. Still was not able to have all of us start at the same time (what is the point of having an appointment?). I was told "it's been a hectic morning." If you knew that two weeks ago you should have offered an alternate time (I stated I was open the whole day), or not overbooked knowing you had three pedicures coming in together. The pedicures were ok - they looked fine enough, and the one tech was actually friendly. The manicure was another story entirely. Amateur polish where you can see the brush strokes and the polish went over my cuticles. On the sides of my nails the polish is glopped on. She blamed the color (as if I never had that color on my nails before, but whatever). But this is the real kicker - I go to check out and see the sign that says "cash gratuities PREFERRED", not REQUIRED. The first thing the gentleman (the owner??) asks is "cash?". I let him know I found out my friend died this morning so I am a little scrambled, I only have a card. And he snickered. Who does that? To say I was angry is an understatement. Thoughtless and rude. I could have easily cancelled this morning and left them without the $90, but I thought this would help us relax a little considering the circumstances. I left, went to the ShopRite, got cash, returned, and paid the gratuity in cash because unlike him I am a person who does the right thing.
