They have taken care of my 3 boys, nephews & brother in laws (wisdom teeth) and my husband (Extraction & implant). Thanks for your reply. I wanted to first let you know that my sole purpose for going to your office was to get your opinion on whether my wisdom tooth needed to in fact come out . Second, since I never had agreed to have you remove the tooth - why would you even need to check my blood pressure? I have been to various specialists where I was never asked to check my blood pressure when my sole purpose was to ask a question to not have a procedure done. This is not standard of care. If I had indeed agreed to have you remove the tooth then that would have been appropriate. As to me showing disrespect to my wife I obviously value her dental opinion otherwise I would never have agreed to come to your office. Don't ever presume to judge a relationship based on ur erroneous interpretation on the brief interaction we had in your office. This is a really fabulous practice. I can sing nothing but high praises for this place. In December, I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted and it was the most seamless (affordable) process I have ever gone through with anything dental. I had a work colleague recommend this place after being quotes upwards of 2 grand for my procedure, where Bayside had me pack $400 for all four (considering I also used my insurance). Each dental assistance was SUPER sweet and explained everything thoroughly. They also helped ease my anxiety and nervousness when it came to being put under. My healing was also phenomenal. I had some tongue numbness due to one of my teeth being close to the nerve, but I was informed before the surgery that that was a possibility - so I was not alarmed when it happened. I know people don't say this often, but if I had to get my wisdom teeth pulled again, I would 100% go back to Bayside! read more

I had to get a tooth pulled. I was referred by Albany Oral Surgery, a sister office to this group. Dr. Goo did an intake and found that did have to have it pulled. I decided to get an implant (instead of a bridge). Dr. Goo and 2 assistants helped with the operation. I paid extra for "Laughing Gas", and it was worth it. I laughed a lot. The team worked well together. Before the operation started I asked Dr. Goo and his 2 assistants if they believed in Guardian Anels. They nodded "yes". I asked if they would imagine our Guardian Angels working together for my highest good. The operation went very well...easy smeazy. Yesterday a few hours after the operation, a member of the staff called to check on me...very cool. Dr. Goo is a great communicator!!! He answered all my questions, and he worked well with his team! Today was my first time going to this office. My appointment was for a consultation for a potential implant. I was impressed by Dr. Khalil's professionalism and actually encouraging me to get a second opinion from a DDS to see if my tooth can be saved for another 5/6 years by putting a new crown, rather than just planning to extract and do the implant. This gave me confidence in going back to his office. Unorganized practice. I was scheduled to have my four wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, April 19th but no one reached out beforehand to make sure I had the medication I needed to take before my extractions. I called Bayside on Thursday, April 13th because I had not heard anything from them and asked if I needed to pick up any medication. They told me they would send a prescription in for me. I was gone for the weekend but I called the pharmacy on Monday, April 17th to make sure my prescription was ready for pick up that day. The pharmacy told me they never received a prescription for me. I called Bayside again on Monday, April 17th and they had not sent the prescription to the pharmacy. They finally had someone place an order for the medication on Monday the 17th. Bayside either did not submit the order or it was submitted too late because the pharmacy was not able to fulfill my prescription that should have been ready for me to pick up on April 17th. I needed to start a mouthwash two days before my extractions and now I can no longer keep my scheduled appointment to remove my wisdom teeth (see picture of instructions). This could have been avoided if the person in charge of submitting prescriptions had done her job on Thursday, April 13th when I called. On top of this, I wrote on my initial consultation form that I had an allergic reaction to Oxycodone and Dr. Vu prescribed me a narcotic that contained similar ingredients even after I stated I did not want it. As he said, "It is what we usually give people". Such a shame, I had heard great things about this practice. Avoid this place and save yourself the headache. In response to Bayside's reply to my review: The pharmacy confirmed they never received a prescription on April 13th. They also allow up to two weeks for prescriptions to be picked up, so Bayside's response is incorrect about prescriptions being canceled after 48 hours. I have added a picture of my calls with Bayside from April 13th to April 17th. I did not refuse to talk to anyone. I missed their call and called back later that same day. As for the prescriptions prescribed to me, I have a voicemail from Bayside acknowledging that they prescribed me a narcotic that contained similar ingredients. Also, if Bayside's instructions are not meant to be followed word for word then Bayside should include that in the instructions. How am I supposed to know that they are recommendations if that is not mentioned? Bayside's office manager, Mercedes, reached out to me on April 18th. I appreciate her reaching out to talk to me about my review and experience at Bayside. She offered me a discount and asked what she could do so I would take down my review. She attempted to make things right but I was not interested in receiving any services at Bayside. Having a tooth extraction is a nerve-wracking procedure and feeling like I was not properly prepared for my surgery was a letdown. Like I told Mercedes maybe I was the exception but this was my experience at Bayside and I will not be taking down my review. A great experience, That sounds crazy when talking about teeth getting pulled but Dr. Goo is a patient's doctor/ smooth operator. I had some wisdom teeth pulled and I was very anxious. He put me at ease before and during the procedure. He paid attention to my gestures when I felt discomfort and addressed them immediately with his staff. Next thing you know I was done just like that in and out the chair. I had to give him a fist pound after the procedure. I really was blown away. I've had multiple oral surgeries, over several years at this practice, with one particular tooth bone base requiring special treatment to encourage bone growth for extra three months for the tooth implant to be readied for the crown by my main dentist who had recommended Dr. Khalil. The dental care personnel and their state of the art equipment contributes to overall positive and comforting experiences. All of my procedures went well. Office staff takes good care of me with text reminders and professionally friendly demeanors. I had a really bad experience with Dr. Khalil. My bottom wisdom teeth had cysts next to them, which were eating away at my jawbone. But my case was a particularly difficult one, because the roots of my tooth were close to the nerve that supplied feeling to the lower lip. Removing both teeth stood a risk of damaging that nerve. Despite this, it felt to me like Dr. Khalil was inattentive to the details of my case and was rushing through the consultation. He pushed me toward getting my bottom wisdom teeth fully removed. I asked whether a coronectomy (just removing the top parts of the teeth) would work to remove the cysts, and he said no. Dr. Khalil was wrong. I later went to a different oral surgeon, who had no difficulty removing both cysts by doing coronectomies. In fact, it turns out that the roots of my tooth were calcified around the nerve canal, which meant that fully removing the teeth would have almost surely caused me irreparable nerve damage. I'm very glad that I asked for a second opinion and decided to go with a different surgeon. To Dr. Khalil's credit, he did advise getting just one of my wisdom teeth removed at first, and then coming back to a second surgery to deal with my other tooth. That's because if removing one of my teeth did cause nerve damage, it would only cause me to lose feeling to one side of my lower lip, not both. So if I had gone with Dr. Khalil, the outcome would have probably been permanent loss of feeling to half of my lower lip, not the whole thing. Nevertheless, this would have been a really bad outcome caused by poor judgment on Dr. Khalil's part. read more

It's been about 24hrs since getting all of my wisdom teeth out under IV sedation and I have nothing but great things to say about the entire team. The highlight for me were the interactions with the surgical team, from the thorough and calming consultation to the completely painless procedure. And while my case wasn't terribly complicated, it wasn't completely straightforward either, yet it seems to have gone perfectly. It's also a great testament to the team's skill that I have been able to tolerate the pain without a single painkiller since I was released. If you're dreading getting dental work done, or if you're on the fence about where to go, I can confidently say that the good folks at Bayside OMS will do a top notch job and treat you well. My anticipatory anxiety was a lot worse than the actual surgery and recovery so far. It's crazy how the dental industry works in this country. In short, it's a blatant rip-off! I had to get all 4 wisdom teeth pulled (long story) and I was referred here by my dentist. The total amount for this procedure cost roughly $3K. I was told my insurance would cover $2k and I was on the hook for around $1K. Ok, no problem. It needed to be done so I agreed to pay what I was quoted. When I booked the appointment I asked if this could all be done in 1 day and they said they can schedule the 'consultation' and extraction on the same day if that's what I wanted. Cool. When I went in for my appointment (COVID protocols were properly enforced, no complaints there) I was led into a room where the oral surgeon asked why I needed to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I explained the situation and he said he would decide to go forward with the extraction. I thought, duh, that's why I'm here genius! This conversation took all of 2 minutes. This must have been the 'consultation' I had to do before the actual extraction I figured. Whatever. Then I was asked what type of sedative I wanted them to use. Do I want a local anesthetic (the shot that numbs your mouth) or if I'd rather be totally sedated. They explained that if I chose to be sedated I would be asleep for the entire procedure and I wouldn't feel or notice them pulling and banging on my teeth. So I agreed to be sedated. Lo and behold, a couple months after getting my wisdom teeth pulled I got a bill from this place saying that I owed another $1K because my insurance maxed out and there was a balance due. I had a few appointments back-to-back around the time of my extraction and I knew I was reaching my yearly max. I guess what happened is when they billed the insurance company there was less money available than when I got my original quote. That's fine. What really got my blood boiling is when I went over the bill. They billed me $400 for this 'consultation.' Again, this was me sitting in a chair and the surgeon asking why I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled. It was literally a 2 minute conversation. FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! How ridiculous is that??? My dentist who I see regularly recommended I get my wisdom teeth pulled to resolve an issue I was having. Why is this 'consultation' even necessary??? Then I go down the items on the bill line-by-line and I see another $750 charge for 3 15 minute blocks ($250 per 15 minutes) of IV sedation! Mind you, when they explained to me the benefits of being sedated they never explained the difference in price vs the regular local anesthetic which would have cost under $100! I don't doubt that this place is any better or worse in their business practices than any other place. 9 times out of 10, they charge what they charge and the insurance covers most or all of the cost and no one ever complains. Just know if you are paying out of pocket you better ask A LOT of questions before agreeing to anything and know that you're going to get reamed regardless. That's just how the medical/dental industry works in this country. It's fucking sad. The actual quality of care here though is top notch. I would guess that price-wise they are on the higher end of the scale. Which is to be expected when you walk into a place like this where the receptionists are very nice and very pretty. The rooms are all nice, clean, and modern (glass paneling in the rooms, automatic doors that open like you're on a space ship). I can't say I wouldn't recommend this place because at the end of the day they're all the same and we don't really have much of a choice. But sheesh! read more

My baby sitter was late and I had to push my appointment back one hour. The receptionists were totally understanding and friendly. I was also TERRIFIED, I had never had a tooth pulled before and the staff was so reassuring and so gentle, they listened to all of my questions patiently and gave me complete answers to all my questions without making me feel stupid or like I was annoying them. The office is immaculately clean, welcoming, professional, modern, and every staff member seemed to work in perfect harmony with each other. I have horrible teeth, for many reasons, but mostly I was homeless for years. They did not judge me for a second, they even gave me hope for the future of my teeth and reassured me that it wasn't as bad as I thought. They gave me all the information needed about the procedure, after care, recovery, future care, etc. They even explained all the machines and medicines being used. The dental assistant (Mimi?) Was so so nice to me, calmed me down, was super patient and calm. She was my cheerleader through the whole process. The payment associate (the pretty samoan woman) was so friendly and not pushy at all. The dentist/doctor was AMAZING. Dr. Lin!!! Best experience ever. His parents should be epically proud of him. Dr. Khalil and his amazing staff saved the day and saved me a lot of pain! I've had a lifetime of dental trauma, so I would know the difference! I found Bayside on accident and out of desperation, when oral surgeons from Oakland to Sac couldn't see me until next week. Bayside got me in immediately, with an experience that was incredibly warm, helpful, efficient and kind. Dr. Khalil has one of those reassuring voices and a "lets just fix it, no big deal" attitude. These guys are a complete sham and very unprofessional as well. I went to Bayside through my general dentist in 2021, because I have a PPO plan that allows me to pick whatever dentist I want, and to pick and choose between them according to their means and methods and their associative costs. At first Dr. Khalil and his staff were courteous and professional and put together an estimate for the 3 implants I needed to get done. They were happy to pull together the plans and offer me estimates of the work. However as soon as the procedures began the courteousness and the professionalism rapidly deteriorated. As someone who has a great seal of experience with several dentists and in full knowledge of what works for me in so far as procedures, I told Dr. Khalil and his staff that for extractions I would prefer local anesthesia in combination with Nitrous Oxide as I know my body well and I know what works for me. Dr. Khalil decided in his hubris to completely ignore my instructions and decided to pull one of my teeth using local anesthesia only, which naturally didn't work. He pumped my jaw full of local anesthesia for over an hour, and I was still in pain during the extraction. So instead of at that point concurring with me with the procedure he took it upon himself to recommend full IV sedation which costs $230 per 15 minutes so the cost of the extraction went from $480 to $1480!! I was in shock. Also with full IV I needed to get someone to drop me off and to pick me up afterwards which added another level of hassle. I told the doctor in no uncertain terms that this is not necessary and the local anesthesia and nitrous treatment would work fine as it had done so for numerous occasions in the past, but he refused to see eye to eye with me, so at the behest of his office manager I decided to take that portion of the procedure to another oral surgeon in the Bay Area who would accede to my request and to reduce my out of pocket costs from $1500 to $500 dollars, which is quite significant for a simple extraction. After a few months when the extraction was healed I decided to return to Dr. Khalil for the rest of my procedures so that we could move forward with the rest of my treatment. I called in to schedule an appointment and I was told by his office manger (the same one that told me to take my extraction elsewhere for a cost that I felt comfortable with) that they would no longer accept me as a patient and that I was not allowed to make any future appointments. I asked why and I wasn't provided with any reason and when I asked for Dr. Khalil to follow up with me to explain he never did so. In closing despite the many positive reviews for this Oral Surgeon I have to say my experience was quite contrary and very unprofessional and would add that for any new patients to make yourself completely informed as to the fine print and pay close attention to your pocket book because quite often they will suggest procedures for you that are going to be very cost prohibitive and to your disadvantage. I am thoroughly disgusted with the lack of professionalism and follow through from Dr. Khalil and his staff and if I could give them zero stars I would. I've never cursed at any of the staff and the idea of getting a referral after already being a patient since July 2021 is again a complete lie. I had a progressively deteriorating toothache, while isolating during the pandemic. After a couple of weeks, the pain got so bad I couldn't sleep. I was able to make a 10:15 appointment. Got X-rays quickly. Met Dr. Sheng Chuan Lin. The tooth had gone rogue and needed extraction. Can we go for it now? By 1PM, I was on my way, though slightly lighter. Had a wonderful experience at Bayside with my wisdom teeth removal. Went in for a consultation and did x-rays/discussed the procedure with Dr. Lin. After that was over I was given a prescription order to pick up (which I appreciated this being done early so I didn't have to do it after my procedure). Was getting pretty nervous leading up to my procedure day but luckily everything went great. Showed up for my appointment first thing in the morning and they did a great job of following COVID guidelines (temp checks, masks, spacing). Got into the room and the assistant started preparing me (hair mask, gas, monitors, etc.). Dr. Lin came in and asked me a few more questions and then they gave me the general anesthesia. It felt like I fell asleep for one minute but once I woke up an hour had passed and gauze was being put at my extraction sites. I had all 4 removed (1 was impacted and grew in completely sideways). I was brought to the recovery area and waited for my ride to come get me. They gave me lots of gauze to bring home along with tea bags and post-op instructions which were really helpful. I am writing this 4 days after my appointment and I have NOT had any swelling or pain. Dr. Lin is amazingg!! Of course, please be diligent and take your antibiotics/mouthwash before and after the procedure to prevent infections. Follow the rules and stick to soft foods and salt water rinses after each meal. I definitely think all of the pre/post op care helped with reducing pain/swelling (use lots of ice packs). Pricing: I think I paid a fair amount for this procedure (although it definitely varies based on your dental insurance and make sure all of that is sorted out during the consultation). Staff: Receptionists are super helpful every time I called or had a in-person interaction. The dental assistant who prepped me did a great job of easing my nerves and was really friendly. I had my 4 wisdom teeth (one impacted & IV sedation) removed by Dr. Khalil and his team a few weeks ago. It felt very quick, and I could tell the team was experienced and confident with this procedure. I also searched online and found countless pre/post-surgery advice, but Bayside Oral Surgery had clear instructions (Dos & Don'ts), which was very helpful to me. I fortunately didn't get dry sockets. The doctor prescribed me 2 types of pain meds, but my pain just subsided with Ibuprofen and an ice pack they gave me on the day of surgery. I know the experience can vary depending on the person, but I think following their instruction greatly impacted my quick recovery. Great patient care. Exceptional service and follow up. My daughter had all four of her wisdom test her removed a week ago on a Friday. I was pleasantly surprised to see they did follow up texts about 3 hours after the oral surgery and then followed up with a link for us to contact them should any issues arise. In addition they even followed up with a telephone call o. Saturday morning to check on her. I recommend this or surgeons office. 5 star service all the way. I never knew I needed someone patting my head and telling me 'everything's gonna be okay baby' during my mid-20s while I was getting my wisdom teeth extracted. I was totally relaxed and felt like a child again with my mother by my side putting me to sleep throughout the whole surgery. The staff is extremely friendly. They were sooooo great. I feel like everything there is about making you feel comfortable and aware of what is happening. From check-in to payment to procedure. I never felt unaware or forgotten about. It was literally the fastest wisdom tooth extraction I have ever had. The dentist, Dr. Khalil, and the dental assistant were so kind. The intentional soothing pats, stabilizing of the head and verbal checking in all made the process relaxing and smooth. Would definitely recommend for major procedures. read more

I got my wisdom teeth out by Dr Goo like 30 mins ago and I am so happy I did it here. The nurse was SO NICE. I was like basically having a panic attack and she was so sweet with checking in on me and making me feel comfortable, I really trusted her and Dr Goo. She rubbed my shoulder when he gave me the numbing shots (I got local anesthetic and laughing gas). I got 2 wisdom teeth out with insurance for about 200-300 dollars , way cheaper than I thought it would be. I was also able to schedule an appointment in the same week as I called which was great since it was kind of an emergency situation. 10/10 would recommend and would definitely go back! read more

Words cannot express my gratitude with Dr. Khalil and staff. After a faulty dental implant caused by my regular dentist, Dr. Khalil removed it for free and redid the implant. I was very nervous, however Dr. Khalil and staff made me feel so comfortable. The new dental implant was completed in less than an hour. And now I'm going to see a new dentist for the final touch which is a crown. Whoever might read this and needs a dental implant or oral surgery, I recommend Dr. Khalil and staff. read more

It is quite evident to me that Dr. Khalil is a very skilled doctor, however my personal experience with him and his office was not positive. I was originally referred to him by my primary dentist due to pain in a molar. Dr. Khalil appeared very sympathetic, but he did not want to pull the tooth unnecessarily, so he referred me to a wonderful endodontist. Long story short, the endodontist ended up performing three root canals on the tooth, as the pain and infection would not diminish. So, I was sent back to Dr. Khalil months later. He examined the tooth, provided medication, and told me specifically to return in one week if the pain did not subside, and he would extract the tooth no questions asked. Under direction of my primary dentist, I returned in two weeks. I made an appointment for the extraction, and at the very last minute, Dr. Khalil's approach was quite rude and dismissive, and he tells me he will not pull the tooth as it would be a waste of his time. I was very confused, and distressed as by this point, the tooth was causing a great deal of discomfort, and I could not figure out why he changed his mind. He tells me that I should instead see a neurologist, as the pain I was experiencing was likely from stress or bad nerves. I called my primary dentist frustrated, and he had me referred to a different maxillofacial surgeon that day, and I got the tooth extracted. I come to find out that the tooth was severely infected, decaying, and would have eventually come out on its own. A neurologist would likely have been of no assistance in this case. I am not entirely clear as to why this occurred, but I do hope that no future patients have this experience. read more

When looking for a dental surgeon, I want somebody who is friendly, warm, and reassuring, but more than anything else I want a surgeon with some SERIOUS SKILLS. I want somebody who has done the exact procedure I need hundreds, nay thousands of times. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I found with Bayside. I was referred to Dr. Kallil at Bayside by my awesome dentist at Crown Dental in El Cerrito. I came in to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed. I'm in my 30s and had never gone under general anesthesia before. I was nervous about the surgery, about the risk for dry socket, about unexpected costs not covered by my dental insurance, but mostly I was nervous about pain during the week following the surgery. During my pre-surgery consultation visit I spent more time than I'm accustomed to in the waiting room. Having arrived on time for my appointment, I was left waiting for over a half hour in the waiting room. I checked in with the receptionist and it appeared they'd forgotten about me. They brought me in shortly after that. That was my only negative experience detracting from an otherwise 5-star experience. The administrative and dental staff are all very sweet and helpful. During my visit Dr. Khalil was very friendly and approachable. He took plenty of time to check out my teeth and answer my questions and concerns during our pre-surgery consultation. The surgery itself was a great success. I got to hang out on laughing gas waiting for them to get started. The only pain was the little prick in my arm for the IV. A moment later I was looking at my lovely wife, waking me up to go home. After hearing horror stories from friends about swelling up like a chipmunk, I was pleased to experience a relatively easy recovery. I chalk that up almost 100% to the skill and experience of my surgeon. read more

I want to thank Bayside oral surgery for taking such good care of me. I needed my tooth extracted and was so nervous. Everyone there from the moment I walked through the door was very welcoming. The surgery assistant talked to me like we've been friends for years. She made me feel so comfortable. When my blood was drawn I didn't feel a thing. I was ready for my extraction. I had local anesthetic and nitrous oxide. (My choice because I was nervous) Dr. Khalil was very gentle. He explained everything to me with each step and then it was over. If your looking to get your wisdom teeth extracted, this is your place!!!! They have the best staff from the front office to the back office. I felt so comfortable through my whole appointment! I have been dreading this appointment for a little too long but I'm so glad I stuck with it. They made me feel so at ease and made sure I had all my prescription before my appointment. I got the IV sedation and Dr Khalil is amazing! The back office staff is so knowledgeable and explains everything to you and your driver to make you have the best post op care when you leave.
