FINALLY found a decent Medicaid Dentist. I think the women who cared for me was named Dr Potter. It was something similar to that. She was great. I had had a terrible day and was trying to not be uptight and she was so caring and patient. I had broken my front tooth. She took her time making sure the shape of the fix was perfect. She was teaching a student while she worked on my tooth and her explaining everything to him was so soothing. My tooth looks as good as new and no longer hurts. I got the appointment here after waiting for my appointment at Western Dentail for two hours. The women who work the front desk are great. They don't make you wait. The dentists are great. Hey! I've came here since a little girl but this time around I've realized how disrespectful the front office lady has been. She's a person of color and is always on the left side of the room. Today I went and everything seemed fine until I asked about my dad's information because he works long hours and doesn't have the time to call for appointments, which is why he trusts his daughter to make the appointments for him. When I finished my filling, I came back to the front desk and asked for a new appointment nothing more. She didn't even started with "okay here's your appointment" but instead she said the most unnecessary things to me. In her words she said "he's not busy, he's not busy, he does nothing" and continued with that ugly mouth of hers to keep saying disrespectful things about my dad. I felt so offended because my hard working dad who works outside in the heat does so much all day for someone like her who just sits at a desk and does nothing but talk so rudely to a customer who did nothing to her. Please make her stop this behavior because my family did nothing to her to talk to me like this. I could be In the wrong by asking for my dad's appointment updates so I won't bother to ask again. But she's in the wrong and needs to leave that office if she wants to talk like that. This place is frustrating. The last dentist I had here asked if I was a meth addict because of my receding gum line, a question that seemed absurdly out of nowhere based on the history/progression of my gums clearly outlined in X-rays. She made me feel extremely self conscious about the health of my teeth and fed into my fear of going to the dentist. That was the last time I was able to get a teeth cleaning at this place, which was over a year ago now. They canceled my last cleaning appointment back in July bc of covid. I called the clinic many times, trying to get scheduled for another cleaning, and finally got an appointment for today, however they refused to clean my teeth bc the dentist I was scheduled with is new, and she was apparently only examining my teeth, not cleaning them, a distinction they neglected to inform me before coming in. Now I have to wait until July for a teeth cleaning I have been waiting for since last July? Will my new dentist even be around by then? read more

I am in such pain from a recent filling by Dr. Noble. I noticed earlier this year in March when he did my basic check up and cleaning that his hands are very rough and a little unsteady and far from gentle when handling my mouth. Now, today months later he performed a fill to an old cavity, and all I can say is ouch. He was attending to another patient almost at the same time as my appointment. And he didn't even look at me when he left. Dr. Ho is great at his bedside manner, with a very attentive approach to his patients, and much more stable hands. I unfortunately couldn't secure him as the dentist to this procedure because of COVID restrictions turning this clinic busy and short staffed. Given the chance, I will request to see Dr. Ho from now on. read more

If I could give multiple negative stars I would. This is my first and certainly last experience with this dental clinic. They should be sued for malpractice. REALLY. I went in for a filling that fell out and a cleaning.... They told me I needed a root canal (on a tooth I had no pain whatsoever on), three other fillings replaced, a mini tooth pulled, and a deep cleaning to be done in 4 sessions. There's a lot more to complain about which you can read below - but first let me say that I got a second opinion from my old dentist in SF and guess what? I have healthy gums and only needed a regular cleaning, I DID NOT NEED A ROOT CANAL! And none of the fillings needed to be replaced nor the small tooth pulled. HOW DARE THEY PRESCRIBE ENTIRELY UNNECESSARY INVASIVE TREATMENT? The rest of my complaints: -When I called to get my x-rays released so I could get a second opinion, I was told I had to come in and pay $15 to get them --- I've never had to do this with any dentist before. -I told them that I just wanted to get a regular cleaning, not a deep cleaning and they told me I couldn't! I HAD TO get the deep cleaning because it was what the dentist prescribed! Since when does a patient have no say whatsoever in what is done to them? -I had an appointment but still waited over an hour to see the dentist. When I asked if it was always like this I was told - no, only with this particular dentist who was retiring soon anyway... -The dentist took one look at my 6 months old son, asked how old he was and then said, "We'll be seeing him in 6 months." Nope! In fact you will never ever see him or me again and I hope as many people as possible see this review and seek proper treatment elsewhere. Spread the word folks! Lifelong Dental has consistently tried to over prescribe procedures. A root canal specialist for a sound tooth that doesn't hurt? Are you kidding me? They were morally reprehensible for their bottom line. Don't confuse them with Lifelong Medical. My nurse practitioner is great. I resent they way they have tried to manipulate me with fear under the guise of caring. I called my insurance and provider, Alameda Alliance, and they told me they have had many complaints about Lifelong Dental pushing unneeded procedures. I had been going to another dentist for years. Last year, after Lifelong's first analysis of my mouth, I went back to my old dentist and talked to him about their assessment. He said that he would be rich if he did all of the unnecessary procedures they were planning. Lifelong's dentists act like they care. It is so obvious to me that money with questionable procedures is their bottom line. I feel bad for their patients who think that Lifelong Dental is doing them a favor. Yesterday, after I refused to listen to a dentist, she put a hand on my shoulder, and tried, as a last ditch effort to frighten me by saying that I have a gum disease, and that could lead to me losing my teeth. Of course I can lose all of my teeth... I I never brushed again. What she left out was that I have had these gum pockets for much of my adult life, I had a scaling, and through my diligence and good home care, the condition is stable and under control. read more

You can never be sure who you are going to see, but they seem honest. They don't tell you you need procedures you don't, and the work they do -- limited in my case -- seems fine. I made my first post-lockdown appointment yesterday, 5/14/21, and the soonest available appointment was for 10/25, so waits can be very long (always, and especially so as people address deferred issues/preventive services, I suppose). Once you're in a rhythm, though, it can work out. Wait times might make Lifelong Dental not the best choice for somebody with serious dental issues, but I can't comment on that from personal experience. read more

Though many people would dock a star for NO FRILLS (TV's stero headphones etc) I stand with 5 stars for the dental care I have received at this clinic. Now that the Affordable Care Act provides coverage for restorative treatment (not just extractions any more!) I am finally able to get a few repairs done. Doctors Ray and Noble were really concerned about my comfort and gave painless injections followed by excellent work. When I had a filling fall out of a cracked tooth I was able to get a same day emergency appointment. For your reference, the way to get a same day appointment is to GO IN to the clinic at 8:30 a.m. and ask in person, rather than calling. Don't bother to call , just GO. They do several emergency appointments a day some in the morning and the rest starting at 1 pm. It is amazing how the dentists and techs hustle. Every single staff there has been very pleasant and professional. I saw Dr. Rezei a few days ago after being told I needed another filling at my last check up. This one was rather large, near the root and she did an excellent job filling it-with no anesthesia of course :) Despite excellent oral hygiene, due to a lifelong medication- I am prone to cavities now :( While I am not happy about this-I am so glad I found Lifelong Dental and Dr. Rezei-Even if she is booked up or not immediately available, I will wait to book my appointment with her--- I would never let another Dentist touch my teeth! This place is fucking horrible I was covered for dental while I was pregnant and needed fillings I had no issues with my teeth before was never in pain once I got four fillings done on one side a week later I started to feel sensitivity to hot, cold, I can't eat anything on that side and now I'm screwed because I'm no longer covered so I have to either pay out of pocket which is $600 or deal with it. Absolutely ridiculous that I came in with 0 pain and after "treatment" I can't even eat on that side of my mouth anymore. read more

I've been a patient here for years and have had a fair amount of examinations and procedures. I think this place is pretty great, they take my insurance and can usually see me pretty quick. I've never had an issue with an attitude from the staff as some reviews have mentioned. I recently noticed a cracked tooth which ended up just being a filling that needed to be repaired. They were able to help me out, answer my questions and they were able to pencil me in to get seen sooner. I think most people get nervous at the dentist so I appreciate their understanding and patience. Dr. Mun was who I saw and he was great. read more

It's been several years since I was here. I believe I stopped going once my insurance allowed me to pick other providers, probably around 2013. Generally, the wait was long, the service was adequate, typical experiences. However, what sticks out in my mind, was the the extraction conducted by an older surgeon without sufficient anesthesia. He literally wrenched my tooth from my jaw without ensuring that the nerves were deadened. It was literally *torture* and I still carry trauma symptoms from that day. No lie, I'm am a absolute baby when it comes to going to the dentist and giveyself any reason not to go but I had a really bad tooth ache so ofocurse I had to go. Lifelong was recommended to me by a friend so I thought I give them a try. The staff was really friendly, the x-rays were done fast and accurately and most importantly.. very little to NO PAIN! My god, are they horrible. I had an appointment at 11:30 am, I showed up at 11:00, since it was my first consultation, I expected to fill out paperwork. I turn all the papers 15 minutes later, then sat down. They called me in at 12:45 for x-rays. They said they were "very busy". What happened to my appointment time? The receptionist admitted they are usually this late, and I was lucky to wait "just an hour." The x-ray lady was grumpy, but quick for the machines they have in there. They're not very up-to-date, so it is a little more uncomfortable and slow than it should be. It took almost another hour When I was a child, I broke my frontal teeth and since then have to use composite to rebuild them. Composite needs maintenance roughly every year, so I end up going to the dentist often. I just moved to Berkeley, and had to leave my dentist in Boston, which I was seeing 3-4 times a year. Because of these 20 years, I ended up learning a lot about my own teeth and dental procedures. After I was done, I waited for the dentist for an extra 30 minutes. Meanwhile, I started to note: the place was dirty. Very dirty. No protection on the chair (I could feel an oiliness in my chair, possibly from the previous human body), dust and who-knows-what stains on counters, the same counter they place instruments before they put it in your mouth). Mold growing on the wall corner. The floor is dark and dim. The dentist came in, she did not introduced herself and poked my mouth. Ouch. Then she left for another 10 minutes while I had all the stuff to keep my mouth open. She removed all of that right away when she returned (10 unnecessary minutes with rubber and plastic stuff keeping my jaws open and poking my gum). She had no gloves. She whispered a few things to the dental assistant. Then turned to me and said: no cavities, but you need a deep cleaning. I never needed a "deep cleaning", and last time I had a cleaning done, was less than 4 months before. I told her that. She said "Well, then, schedule one for the 3 months." I asked her why not a regular cleaning, she ignored me impatiently and said that was her opinion. Huh? I explained my concerns about my composite and she rudely said "This is cosmetic, we don't do cosmetic here." I patiently explained that it wasn't cosmetic, I needed my teeth so I could, you know, bite. She said, "you can try another doctor, but I don't know how to do that. I will see you for your cleaning"and then rushed out. Nope, I'm never coming back there and I recommend you run from this place! read more

After disappointing experiences with HMO dentists, I decided to try Lifelong Dental Clinic (I work at Lifelong Medical Care Admin/Billing Dept). After years of just hearing about them, I switched to a PPO dental coverage so I decided to give them a try. Wow, I've experienced first hand quality dental care. The worst place ever, first off the staff is rude. Second they don't even tell you that if you need emergency dental they only see two people a day. I was told by the dentist and staff that I had an emergency appointment in the morning when I drove down there because I was third person I was denied even though I was clearly more of an emergency than the other patients. He answered any questions that we had and also made her feel very comfortable. I have to say that trying to get dental work done at LIfeLong Dental Care has been a disaster. I waited 1 1/2 or so for my first appointment. I then was scheduled for two appointments for deep cleaning and was to have one half of my mouth done in each. In my first appointment, only 1/4 of my teeth was done. I was told there was an emergency. No problem. My next appointment they another 1/4 of my teeth. Okay. I can live with that and went back a third time and had another 1/4 of my teeth done and was told, there is no time to do 1/2 even though the appointment was specifically scheduled to to 1/2. I go in for my 3rd appointment. I tried to make an appointment and was told that January was the earliest they had and that if I go to a dentist elsewhere, they are going to charge me for x-rays which I assume that denti-cal has already paid for. That leaves me feeling as if they could care less how long someone has to wait and they have an interest in taking prisoners. Reading the other negative reviews here about how they handle actual dental work beyond cleaning, I don't see any reason to trust them on anything else either. Perhaps I am lucky in finding out now rather than later. read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. And I'm not going back. While the receptionists are all very friendly and courteous, the staff, x-ray techs, hygienist, and the dentist are terribly incompetent. As a new patient I needed x-rays. There were 2-3 people coming in and out of the room, very disorganized. They had to take multiple x-rays over and over because they didn't know what the hell they were doing. I think I had something like 15 x-rays taken for what should have been 4-6 max. I hate getting x-rays-they are bad for the body. I was furious. By the time I finally saw the dentist, which took forever to wait, he merely poked around in my mouth (painfully I might add), mumbled a few words and scheduled me for a follow up cleaning. When I went back for the cleaning, again I had a long wait. He did the most horrible job (quick, not detailed and very painful and rough). His hygienist came in and flossed my teeth and she was brutal. My gums were bleeding all over the place because she was so rough, not to mention cold and mean. These people have absolutely no bedside manner. Needless to say I will never be going back there. Downright awful experience. read more

Lifelong dental is one of the few low cost dental clinic's left. Medi=cal no longer pays for adult dental so that has made it difficult to find funding. They are not an emergency service. The requirements for medical payment require extensive documentation. The person who tried to use it as an emergency service found that out. I have used them for years and found they do the best they can. If you expect the kind of service you get at an expensive dentist that's foolish if that's what you want pay for it. I am disabled and it is one of the few places I can get services. They are best at long term care. I have been there over 20 times in the last ten years. They are no worse than most medical offices in being indifferent to their clients waiting times. Sometimes it is because they do try and fit in walk in emergency patients like the whiner who went there once. Why would anyone imagine a busy clinic would stop everything to take care of a tooth they neglected for years? Who is responsible for ones teeth? Normal appointments take a month or longer. I have had to go for emergency appointments and just bring a book. IT is not their fault that he is a recovering addict with bad teeth who put off getting dental care. If you have medical they can work on children or what is defined as "emergancy" care for adults other wise you need to have insurance. They do have an income based sliding scale which gives rates as good as many so called pay for service dental discount services. read more

I was downright scared by this dental office. We were the mornings first appointment so after a 1/2 hour wait with 2 young kids, I'd call it "Day is Long Dental". Registering my kids and making an appointment was so difficult - should've been my red flag. The staff were just as incompetent and unattentive in person, one of them literally busy texting on her phone instead of answering my wait at the window. They were unhelpful and their "I could give a toss" attitude is just rude. The dentist, Dr. Rezei, was business like and to the point. She made no effort to connect with my kids or put them at ease or explain anything to them. So... the scary parts? No soap in the bathroom (seriously) and a filthy exam room. Even my husband noticed the dirty surfaces. As it turns out my kids need further care. No way would I let this office touch them again. I left running and had to return the same day since reception forgot to charge me $30 for my copies of the x-rays. Thanks for 2 trips Day is Long Dental! I woke up Friday morning & the whole left side of my face was swollen. I had broken a tooth quite a while back & ignored it. And like Glenn Close in Basic Instinct, it came back with a vengeance! I was scared & terrified when I walked into Lifelong, but honestly, from the start everyone was SO kind - I was instantly put at ease. I was seen within an hour, got X-rays, a prescription for my infection & had an appointment for Monday after the swelling went down. Dr. Mun even took the time to sit with my husband & son to discuss what was going on with me. So today is Monday & my tooth got pulled. Jasmine, Dr. Mun's assistant was awesome, putting me at ease while being honest about the procedure. Dr. Mun was great, just like the last time I saw him. The extraction went flawlessly. I really just want to thank the whole staff - from the receptionists to the doctor. From the bottom of my heart. I was so scared coming in last week & all of them couldn't have done more to make me feel comfortable. You guys rock!! read more

Lifelong Dental Clinic did x-rays, then wanted to refer me to Highland hospital to have my tooth out. They gave me this appointment for today at 10:30am, yesterday - AFTER they asked if I had health insurance, to which i told them I had medi-care and medi-cal. The dentist looked at the tooth and said, "that needs to be extracted, I can see why you're in pain," before any x-rays were done. Then later tells me, I'm booked up into January, I'll refer you to Highland. I asked, "Are they going to take x-rays over there?" She freezes then says, "different ones." I said, "You brought me here under false pretenses, I thought I was given this appointment becuase I was in pain, the girl asked me on the phone if this was an emergency. She said, "If its an emergency, Medicare will pay for the service." The emergency was that I was in pain and needed the tooth out which the Dentist confirmed BEFORE x-rays. In the middle of all this the x-ray tech said, "if she can't take it out today, she will give you some pain medication." I indicated on the forms I'm a recovering addict. The Dentist at some point said, "I can try to fit you in between patients today, but, you will have to wait." Then they hit you with the referal and pain medication idea - while you're sitting there coming unglued in pain! I had this same experience with them a few years ago and waited a few hours and finally left to have something done - i was in pain. That's obviously what they intend. They used me as a funding source. The x-ray tech was careful to inform me, "we're going to take 18 x-rays." Then later says, "its not too many." I didn't think about it then, - but i don't think he took that many. I bet they wanted to bill for that many. I called Medicare and reported this. I have a final exam to study for - this has already cost me half a day, and i'm still hurting with a bad tooth. read more
