Never and ever go there again. They are not honest with their customer since they do not keep up with the confirmed appointment as they were told they were going to do. I've been coming here for a couple years and have always felt well taken care of. They are punctual, welcoming, and accommodating. Today, specifically, Laiba did my routine cleaning and was the most gentle person I have ever had clean my teeth. Felt it deserved a review. Usually I expect to walk away with some bleeding and gum soreness, but I didn't experience that with her. I have some very bad teeth which I'm embarrassed about and it took a lot for me to even come due to it. The dentist wasn't sure how to treat me and had another dentist come in to assess me with him. It was like he wasn't sure what he was doing. Maybe a student? It made me feel so uncomfortable! Then they said they'd call after my insurance authorization for the treatment. Feels strange to love a dentist office but I do! I first came here needing urgent care and they were kind of enough to squeeze me in because I was in pain. Since then I've consistently had a great experience with each dental hygienist and dentist I've met. Received helpful information and tips along the way. I have a lot of dental anxiety and hadn't been to the dentist for several years before my appointment yesterday, but the staff were all so wonderful. Each member of the team that worked with me, from the x-ray technician to the hygienist and the dentist were all great about checking in to make sure I was doing okay and offered to pause whenever I needed it. I could feel an infection starting after a wisdom tooth extraction that was *not* preformed by Randhawa Dentistry, but they still fit me in within the same morning anyways to examine me. I just started treatment and will keep rate 3 stars for now. I met the Doctor and he seems nice , so I decided to start Invisalign treatment. Problem began with the front desk, they screwed up and typed my last name incorrectly. I got whole Invisalign kit with someone's else last name. If you had Invisalign, you know, your last name is pretty everywhere. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is big deal to me. Invisalign is very individual customized product, I don't understand how customized product can have wrong last name on it. Also, who knows now, if simplest thing such as last name is incorrect, maybe there are other mistakes. I called front desk and asked them to fix it. Instead of fixing that, they told me "what is the big deal, at the end of the day it will be disposable". Obviously, front desk who did mistake, I don't see they try to make things right. UPDATE: I'm changing rating, because I got call from the clinic with apology. Doctor/ Owner offered to get Invisalign replaced. Even I'm not going to replace it, but it was nice to get this option offered. Most places stop to care about its patients, right away, after they received their money. It is good to know that Owner/Doctor still cares about his patients, even after all money for treatment already were received. After all, it is not fair to rate whole place with poor rating, only because 1 employee doesn't have idea, how to handle customer issues. read more

I actually really enjoyed my first visit today. The office is quaint but their equipment is pretty modern and up to date. Everyone is so nice here, they listened to me and answered all my questions very thoroughly. Made me feel very taken care of. I need a lot of work done but I'm glad I can get all of it done in their office. They made sure to outline every procedure I will be needing, what my insurance will be covering, and what my out of pocket pay will look like for everything down the line which I appreciated a lot. I don't like surprises in that regard as I'm sure most others don't. While I wasn't seen by Dr. Randhawa, his associates were amazing. Lots of girl power, love it. I'm hoping things will go as smoothly for my procedures but so far they've made me feel comfortable trusting them. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Save yourself from unnecessary pain! I went for a basic teeth cleaning and Dr. Randhawa upsold me successfully to have my fillings replaced. There was nothing apparent to me to be wrong with them, but I followed his advice. I started by have two fillings replaced. At some point during the procedure both teeth were cracked, but not noticeably. When I went back with extreme pain, they made me pay for a DEEP cleaning. When that did not work, they sent me for a root canal, at my own expense, which is where I found out that the teeth had been cracked. They then continued to charge me for the crown which they put in that they chose to make a darker yellow that my teeth were. The other tooth that was cracked was eventually made into an implant by another dentist. It was an overall hideously expensive and now less two real teeth ordeal that lasted nearly 3 years. read more

Our experience at Randawa dentistry Emerville the first time I came here with my partner was for an emergency check. We saw this really nice Punjabi female doctor. She was very helpful. Explained everything to us thoroughly. she gave us the least invasive treatment. She explained the x-rays for us overall first visit was very nice. Second visit was a couple months later for full exam and cleaning. we saw a different doctor. If I am remembering correctly, her name is Dr. Seema. our appointment was scheduled at the end of the day which was a big mistake from the start. We kind of assumed we would be rushed, because everybody wants to go home at the end of the day. That is not the main issue although it would be respectful to take your time with the patient because we had to pause our life to come see you. My partner was diagnosed with 5 cavities, 4 crowns (2 of them with root canal) 4 extractions, and a deep cleaning. We are not opposing the treatment or the doctors diagnosis. But the cavities were not explained to us very well. She did not take her time and explain to us and show us where the cavities are in the x-rays and in the mouth. Which I feel like, was not professional. We love when doctors "tell, explain,show, and do". yes, some of the treatment was explained, but not every single one. I feel like we were rushed even the polishing was done in less than 10 minutes. Maybe we picked the wrong timing maybe that's how they do things I am not sure. We do not mean to be rude to anyone in this office, but this is our honest opinion. My advice to anyone who wants to come here make an early appointment. Do not go at the end of the day because you will be rushed. Ask a lot of questions and be sure to understand every single treatment before you get out of the office. read more

I used Randhawa Dental in Emeryville in June, 2012, with a Living Social or Groupon deal for a discounted exam and cleaning. I was thrilled by the excellent discount, but of course, no one looks forward to the discomfort of the X-ray boards in their mouth or the poking, scraping, and grinding to follow. So the deal needs to be authentic. After the exam, my clinician said she could clean my teeth only a little, because what I really needed was a (super expensive, painful, SURGICAL) deep cleaning, in which they would cut and peel back my gums, over a period of four separate sessions, to clean beneath them. I was flabbergasted, since I take great care of my teeth. I brush after every meal, upon waking, and before bed, and I actually floss twice daily. My dental exams have always been great. I'm a bit of a dentist-phobe, and this really freaked me out, and I said so. I tried persuasion, "Listen, that kind of procedure would be expensive and painful. Are you sure you can't just give me a good cleaning now?" She said I definitely needed the deep cleaning and wrote up a price quote. I was deflated. It was expensive and onerous. Not one to easily cast off the opinion of a professional, but also short on funds, and feeling rather queasy about the whole thing, I did what any reasonable person in my position would do: I procrastinated. After a year of handwringing and whining to my friends about it, I was advised by one friend to use a particular dental clinic where he had received affordable, compassionate, high quality dental care. I took his advice and arranged a visit. Since it had been a year, they did an exam and scheduled an ordinary cleaning. "Oh... I don't need a deep cleaning?" I asked. "Oh, not at all," said the clinician, sounding surprised. "A standard cleaning is enough." She proceeded to explain the conditions under which someone needs a deep cleaning, and how my situation was nothing like that, and my teeth were actually in great shape. So let's see: did my need for four expensive and painful surgical sessions somehow magically clear up after a year ... or is Randhawa Dental's Groupon deal a bait & switch scam? I'm not a dentist, so I won't venture a guess. read more

This place made me feel unsafe and shocked by things I witnessed during my consult today. Pros: 1) the pricing for invisilign is amazing. I was so happy when I heard the amount, and it will be comparably lower than any other quote you get from other consults. 2) the dental assistants/receptionists are friendly and nice Cons: 1) THE BIGGEST THING IS THAT THEY CANNOT FIND THEIR HIPAA PRIVACY OF NOTICE. I have to highlight this in capital letters because it is extremely shocking. As a new patient, I have to sign the typical forms (including a HIPAA privacy acknowledgement form). Now I know most people just sign everything without reading much, but I am a stickler. I have been raised to know what my signature is going on. However, I cannot sign that form if they do not provide the Notice of Privacy information. When I went to ask for the HIPAA information, they said they would print it out for me, but I could overhear that they could not even find that document in their computers. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING. 2) In terms of Covid, I felt unsafe. a) I thought their initial screening was haphazard. When I entered, I was neither offered hand sanitizer nor had my temperature check. However, I did see the patient that entered the waiting room a few minutes after me did get his temperature checked and was offered hand sanitizer b) I did not feel safe in the procedure area because they had more than one patient being looked at in the same time frame. There isn't another room or wall separating you from another patient. There is only a column with the sink and dental equipment blocking you from another patient. c) It was extremely disappointing to see that the dental assistant/receptionist who came to talk to me about my quote, who sat less than 1 foot away from me, did not wear her mask correctly. Her nose was sitting above her mask. You would think that a dental office would have standards to not let this happen, but it looked like no one cared at all. The whole 45 minutes I was there (from entering that office to leaving), no one corrected her or asked her to fix it. TLDR: The pricing is great if you're willing to forgive some major health concerns and your privacy of notice HIPAA acknowledgement. read more

Not a fan of this place. They do a good job cleaning but if you're paying out of pocket, their filling prices are expensy. And how do I know this? My fiancee went here to get a cleaning with a groupon they were running. They also do X-rays and a basic check-up as a part of that process. At the end, he was told he needed over $1000 worth of filling work. We though that sounded like a bit much considering he's been getting dental care regularly for the past 10 years. So we ran their X ray paper print out (for which they charge $25! Yeap, sounds like they really don't want you to walk out with that paper..) and their expected costs for a filling with our buddy who is a dentist in SF. FYI: Resin based composite 29- $310 and Inlay composite/ resin 30- $830 She got a good laugh at how much dramatically higher their prices are from market value. And cherry on top, she pointed out on the X-ray paper that my fiancee had an upper cavity that was completely missed. That being said, they're very nice and the staff is very professional. I would just be a tad cautious about putting down your credit card for anything they recommend. read more

I am just moved to the area and was referred by a friend. It's small Mom and Pop shop. It doesn't have the latest high tech equipment, but high tech enough. I got a cleaning that was excellent! The best I have had in a while. I also got a filling replaced. That was more or less fine as well. I did have to come back because there was a fiber stuck in it and have it polished off. My main concern was that the dentist here is a top salesman for Invisalign, as you might notice from his signs all over the place. He did try to sell me invisalign at what seemed like an decent price. I did consider it. I did some digging around on the internet and found that there could be hidden costs and it wasn't really worth it, you might as well get braces and be done. Less trips, more effective faster etc. He said he did braces too. I asked for some info on that each visit and each visit they ignored that and tried to sell me invisalign warning me they had a promotion that was going to expire. yadda yadda. But it was still there every time I had to come in. My last visit again about the invisalign. Again I said tell me about braces. This guy started to argue with me about it. WHY? WHY do you want braces? I said it is my preference. I am not going to argue with you dude. You might be able to sell me braces, but you are too busy trying to sell me something I clearly have no interest in. After that, I would never get braces from you either. Forget it! What a horrible experience. He never walked me through what my teeth needed or how he could help me. He just kept giving me an invisalign estimate. It explained nothing. read more

IS THIS PLACE FOR REAL? I came here for an Invisalign consultation after a horrid one from an orthodontics practice in Berkeley. The OTHER place had quoted me $8,000 + about $12,000 for 4 extractions. Plus another $600 for xrays and "diagnostics". Needless to say, I was ready to give up on the chance for Invisalign. BUT! I found a groupon for Randhawa Dental and decided to make an appointment for a consultation. They were flexible with my schedule and I was able to see them within a week of my first e-mail to them. The woman who checked me in was friendly and helped me fill out my insurance information and then offered me coffee, water, or juice! Score! About 3 minutes later, I went in to see the dental assistant and she took some pictures, discussed what invisalign is. Dr. Gurjit Randhawa came in to see me and discuss the state of my teeth and how Invisalign would work with my situation. He was very easy going and made me feel extremely comfortable. I could not have been more pleased with his professionalism and easy going personality. He immediately said that though I might need to file down some teeth to make room, I definitely did not need to spend $12,000 to pull out 4 teeth that were perfectly fine. Fantastic! After the initial consultation, the woman who had checked me in discussed overall treatment time and cost, half of what the other place had quoted me! Plus they're offering a fantastic promo in store that takes off $1,250 from my treatment! I made an appointment to get my dental cleaning taken care of in 2 days and then I'm going to pursue Invisalign with them! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! You'll have such a wonderful experience! read more

I haven't had nearly as great of an experience with any other dentist as I have had with Randhawa Dental. I've been coming here for about a year and a half, and I have had my usual dental check-ups with them, as well as my Invisalign treatment. They have seen me throughout my entire treatment (I'm done and going into refinements) and they have been nothing short of helpful. Great, outstanding customer service (have mainly been around Kim, Johnny, Tiffany, Dr. Patel and Dr. Randhawa); they are a team who truly cares about their clients. The wait is almost never that long past your appointment. They're great at reminding you about future appointments, making it convenient to confirm via email. They provide water/drinks for you in the waiting room. Really stellar dentist office with a fantastic, knowledgeable team. I'd recommend them any day. read more

I had my first appointment at Randhawa dental in February, 2012. I was a bit apprehensive as they replaced my old dentist who was here for years but moved out of town. I was very pleasantly surprised by every aspect of my visit. Everyone was very courteous and polite and they took me right on time. The dentist used a new [at least new to me] high-tech photo system that actually showed me detailed photos of my teeth, not impossible-to-see X-rays. The work was done quickly and courteously and everything was explained to me in detail. The price was not cheap, but very reasonable and l left feeling like Randhawa really cares for its patients. My family used to LOVE Randhawa Dental when Dr. Patel was here. But not anymore. 1) Before Dr. Patel left, my husband had a dental appointment, the dentist who was there (not Dr. Patel) told him that he needed 6 cavities fixed. My husband said he'd wait to see Dr. Patel to see what her opinion was. Dr. Patel said she saw no cavities. No work was needed. 2) We received a bill for services 2 years after the date the service was incurred. 2 YEARS! No bills before this even though they had our address and we hadn't moved. When I called the office they said they were auditing their files and saw that we had an outstanding bill. They never said we owed anything whenever we went there but some of the supposed amounts due were more than 2 years old so they had plenty of opportunity to bring up the amounts due. I do give them credit for working with me to lower the amount due just to get it out of the way but still this is ridiculous. We stopped going here and found a better dentist. I think most of the reviews that are good are OLD and from when Dr. Patel was there. Not any new ones because the working dentist on call is questionable with their prognosis. And their accounting is questionable. I would never recommend them. Which is sad because we used to give them referrals all the time. read more

I can not begin to describe how worried I was that I wouldn't be able to find a dentist during COVID. I left message after message at different dental offices until I called Randhawa Dentistry. They answered the phone right away. I spoke to the kindest receptionist. She was sweet and helpful and was able to schedule my appointment for the next week. I was expecting to wait at least a month, but she got me in right away. Everyone I came into contact with was exceptional. They took my temperature at the door and I was confident they were following all the necessary procedures for COVID. My cleaning and X-Rays went well. I ended up needing to come back for some fillings. Unfortunately, one of my cavities was very deep and I ended up needing a root canal. I would not suggest getting a root canal if you can avoid it, but my dentist was caring and kept checking in to see if I was ok. I just finished up my final filling and getting my permanent crown put in. My bit is great and my crown looks very nice. My dentist also suggested some prescription grade toothpaste. I had no idea they made prescription grade toothpaste. The service I received was stellar. I will definitely return, but I am hopefully I won't need any more fillings and that I never have another root canal. read more

I called over the weekend with a HORRIBLE toothache. They made me a Monday morning appointment. Since it was an emergency appointment I expected to wait a long time. I didn't. I was seen right away. The office is clean and staff is very friendly. My only complaint is the dental assistant didn't seem to have everything ready. A couple times they spent time looking for something. When I called Randhawa Dental I made 3 things clear. I am in great and almost constant agony from a badly chipped tooth, and I am both uninsured and on a fixed income. They ignored these facts and jumped immediately to the hard sell. The first thing they established was that I would require a deep cleaning, a $1300 procedure. This is true, but that cleaning would have included the regular cleaning they performed for $75 of money I don't actually have to spare. So right off the bat they were trying to cost me more than I should have to pay. The dental hygienist who did my cleaning had the delicate touch of the incredible Hulk, and put the suction hose RIGHT IN THE CROWN of my bad tooth. This merely demonstrates how little they listened to me. Next the dentist, who looked like she was about 27 came in and established all the problems I have, secondary to my tooth pain. That's fine, that's her job. However she wasn't interested in my painful tooth until I saw an orthodontist, because they claimed that the tooth above it would need lots of work. "I understand you're in pain but we want to save that tooth." sounds like a good sentiment, but in the end it translated to "I don't mind letting you suffer if it means we'll make more money." They sent me home with a throbbing mouth and $3500 in projected bills, none of which addressed the issue I came to them for. They gave me nothing for pain, nor did they give me antibiotics which a real dentist quickly established I needed badly and immediately. He thought it was so important that he had me take some right away. This is how desperate the situation which Randhawa staff ignored was. The second opinion, one Dr. Brokstein in Oakland also established that I needed NO upper orthodontic work to facilitate the work on my bad tooth. Randhawa Dental was literally caught red-handed trying to rip me off and they did nothing to meet my immediate needs. Do not go here. They will give you the hard sell. They will sell you procedures you don't need. They will charge you for a cleaning then charge you again for a deep cleaning. They will ignore your needs.. And I'll tell you, if you've ever had a chipped molar that needed a root canal you know that addressing the pain as soon as possible is vital.. The agony is utterly debilitating, and because of the sheer incompetence and inconsideration of Randhawa dental I suffered a swelling, throbbing, radiating pain throughout half of my face for 2 more days while I sought proper dental care. I could not be more disgusted with the service and the business model of these parasites. And if you think that's harsh you should hear me when I'm in pain. read more

This doctor and his staff care far more about making money than about patient care. They frequently try to "upsell" you with unnecessary procedures (deemed unnecessary by 2nd opinions at multiple other dentists). Additionally, they will perform painful procedures and not even anticipate a patient will have pain afterwards. They make patients needlessly suffer. It's a fiasco trying to get them to call in a pain med Rx. First they said can't call in because doctor in another procedure for an hour. Then the office closes for lunch for 2 hours. The doctor should have anticipated patient pain following the procedure and offered up a Rx automatically! There are so many good dentists in the Bay Area. Don't waste your time and money here. I had such a pleasant experience here -- the cleaning and x rays with Dr. Santos was great. It turned out that I needed my old fillings replaced, so the following week I had two fillings done. It was fairly quick (as quick as it can be and still be top quality!). The numbing shots were painless (only felt a slight pinch). The drilling was really quick and I didn't feel a thing. The dentist (Dr. Patel) and her assistant (don't remember her name) were very friendly and we were laughing during the procedure (well, i was drool-laughing). It really put me at ease. Dr. Patel made sure to reshape the filling a few times until it felt right. As soon as the numbness went away, the fillings felt very normal -- MUCH better than the previous ones!
