Have been here a bit over 6 months. Units are nicely renovated, clean with no pest or mold problems at all. Staff is very responsive, only had positive experiences. Awesome location close to Seal Point Park, the 101, foster city stores, downtown San Mateo. The price seem to be on par with other apartments in the area. We just moved to the Bay Area but everything seems so expensive. Overall I recommend. read more

Don't be fooled by the location! It's filled with some shady and trouble making so called neighbors along with greedy and cruel management who is on a power trip especially the current ones which makes it all seem worth nothing! All buttery talk will end the moment you face an issue. It's suddenly all your fault and they will device every opportunity possible to evict you rather than fixing the issue or the people causing the issue! Not only you have mediocre accessories and filth around but you have to tolerate a lot to survive here once you are trapped. What an eye sore in a nice neighborhood! The management should be ashamed of themselves to put you through this after extorting unreasonable price. Good for Section 8 folks which the management is happy to receive their consistent money but not for general folks that seek standards of living! read more

Update they removed my previous review here it is again. So I took another star away. Pros: 1. close to downtown and seal point park 2. In unit washer and dryer 4. Stainless steal appliances 3. Have att fiber WiFi 4. Management team is responsive. Cons: 1. In unit washer and dryer is dated 2. Charge $30 for valet trash 3. PARKING! Charge $125 monthly for extra parking. Neighbors don't respect parking. Don't allow you to tow. There's no street parking either. Got to the point where neighbors would see when we left for work and they would park in our spot then move it before we would get home. Only problem is sometimes we would get home early and couldn't even park in the space we were paying for. Parking is a big issue and you can only tow the car if the leasing agents are there. That means only during business hours which is really tough because people would park their car in other's spaces Saturday afternoons and technically it cant be towed until Tuesday morning because office is closed Sunday and Monday and you are stuck not being able to park your car in your allowed spot. 4. Neighborhood is nice but the neighbors are the worst. First two months we were there, neighbors would throw parties every weekend. One night a pair of males came home drunk and trying to climb into my apartment window thinking it was theirs. Downstairs neighbor called cops on upstairs neighbors. Cops came at least twice. Downstairs neighbors played loud bass from 6pm-midnight everyday. You could hear it through the thin walls. Sometimes there was neighbors smoking and blasting music from their cars 2-3am in the morning. Which wouldn't happen if they has quiet hours or 24/7 staff surveillance. 5. They have a high turnover staff rate. 6. If you care about complex appearance their thrash cans are always almost full. Luxury prices for non-luxury living. You can definitely get something better for less money. Would only recommend for short stay but not long-term. There's ways that it can improve. 1. Get 24/7 staff that's allowed to tow cars. 2. Easily the worst place I've ever lived. I moved in almost 2 years ago. Towards the end of my first year I had to evacuate my apt because of water damage due to the property not providing any maintenance to the infrastructure for years. ** **more detail: this was according to the property management maintenance head. That individual lied to me at the jump as well - I was initially told repairs would take hours. That turned into weeks. I had to move to a more expensive unit just to have a place to live within a reasonable amount of time. And the head of maintenance allowed the 3rd party vendors to rifle through all of our draws which continued financial data. So, that was fun. When I walk through the complex, garbage seems to be everywhere. It feels like the property management team allows all of the dumpsters to overflow every single day, it always looks like we live in a junkyard. When I walk through the complex, I see dog crap is also everywhere. In fact, there is a specific field that used to have grass and bbq's for tenants to use. About a year ago the property management team removed the bbq's, replaced the grass with tan bark. Since then they have allowed the field to turn into the biggest dog litter box I"ve ever seen. There are piles of dog crap of various ages that the property management team walks by and sees *daily*, and still nothing. My side of the complex, on more humid days, smells entirely of dog crap. You smell it rounding the corner to this row of apartments (we face 3rd ave). My apartment is 700 sq ft. They charge 3k a month for this space. This space was not in any way inspected or prepared to be rented as far as I could tell when moving in. It was so filthy, so they sent out a cleaner a week or two after I moved in. I had immediate water leaks from the dishwasher and laundry room. wHen I say leaks I mean water all over the floor. Just a day after moving in (after I had to evacuate my last apt due to water rot). My storage door has a gigantic hole in it that the property manager insisted was meant to be like that, but she said she had a door on order that was incoming any day now. That was 8 months ago. Since then the story changed several times but I still have a gigantic hole in my storage door. That I spend 3k a month for. My experience with the team on site individually is also pretty bad. My own experience with their customer service consists of explaining that whatever the issue is, it's 100% your problem and they cannot be bothered. They recently launched a 3rd party parking app that supposedly lets you report folks in your spot or rent a spot (folks are always in my spot, there is zero parking management here). The app failed both in notifying the 3rd party that someone had taken a spot I rented, and the management team member who I spoke to refused to assist me, and instead warned me that my guest - who had to park in a different spot due to our spot being taken - would be towed. Parking: there is none. People will park or block my spot constantly. The management team seems as though it's given up, thus the reason they turned parking over to a 3rd party. The situation is still terrible, but now they can tell us not to bother them with any complaints, go to the 3rd party. I do not understand why the management team seems to treat tenants with as much disrespect and disinterest as they do. The closest rationalization I can come to is it seems we have a large number of undocumented people here, and the Equity Creekside property management team seems content to take advantage of the idea that these folks won't speak up. It feels really depressing to live here. Cannot wait to get out. (Yes, I asked for early release from the prison, they offered me a "deal" to pay 3x rent if I wanted out - for broken storage doors, what looks like black mold in the bathroom, and nasty property management people. Both Heather and Saida have been very attentive, helpful, and always so welcoming yet professional. Maintenance management is a 10/10. They're on it. I always get a fast response (usually 1 to 6 hours on open operation times) and they've always been quick at fixing what I put a request in for. My neighbors washed their pet's urine and feces off their deck and all over the communal stairs leading into the garage two weeks ago. Property management has known about this and let it sit for two full weeks at this point, despite multiple emails, phone calls and in-person visits to the leasing office. The assistant property manager I spoke with told me he would get it cleaned up last week, and the fecal matter is still all over the stairs. read more

This place does not care about their tenants, PERIOD. Let me count the ways: 1. They currently have a cockroach issue throughout the entire complex and have showed ZERO sense of urgency to remedy this. Not sure if they know this, but we're IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. Seeing messages of other tenants seeing cockroaches in their fridges is UNACCEPTABLE. 2. Parking -- what a joke. They ask tenants to pay an additional fee for parking only to promote a culture where other cars can park in your ASSIGNED spot without any repercussions. When escalating to the tow company in charge of the complex, the tow staff claimed that property management specifically said not to tow any cars regardless of any requests -- contrary to what their posted signs say. Instead, they ask you to park in another spot that probably belongs to someone else and the toxic cycle of paying for a spot that is not exclusively yours to begin with continues. Tenants from years ago that used to live here say that this behavior was the same then. 3. Trash. This apartment complex is trash. They offer this nifty service called "trash valet" where you again, pay extra to NOT receive the service you want. Trash is often not picked up when it is supposed to be and when trash is collected, it's sloppily spilled outside of the apartment which is probably a large contributing factor to the endless COCKROACHES. 4. General Maintenance/Customer Service -- 0/10 would recommend. Work orders take forever to be responded to and when service in needed in the apartment, there is zero communication between the vendor, property management, and the tenant. Vendors show up without warning and property management is pleasantly surprised that they showed up at all when the tenant follows up with feedback. Given the state of the renter's market, this complex is charging undeserving rates with little to show for what tenants are paying during a global pandemic. Empty promises, unhygienic practices, run down units, pests, etc.... DON'T SIGN A LEASE HERE. read more

Our overall experience at Creekside has been nothing but positive. We were very impressed by the way in which management handled a concern of ours, working quickly and patiently to find a solution that left us feeling appreciative. The apartments themselves are a great place to live as they are very quiet, have wide floor plans, and lots of storage. We loved having close access to parks, trails, and shops in the surrounding area which was also very convenient. We highly recommend these apartments! read more

Management is careless and rude!!!!!! Roaches everywhere, they don't clean the underground parkings, the locks and doors not working for a year! When I applied they said a nice view to San Mateo, yeah right! The most horrible view to the canal in the back. People stills packages all the time and the office don't care. If you rent a spot to park good luck because management give the same spot to other people and they never have an answer for that. I suffered for a year!!! I have been here over a year. The neighbors all mind there business I have put in several request regarding new keys because I lose mine all the time they give me no grief maintenance literally goes out of their way to fill my request despite how ridiculous they may be and I especially love how kind the office staff is . There have been multiple times when maintenance have voluntarily relieved my son's balls off the roof. I have witnessed both Michael and Victor engaging witha couple of elder residents long after being clocked out after a long day of work knowing that are tired. My partner and I toured with Claudio. When he took us to go see the apartment we rode in the company golf cart. He was clearly in a hurry because he was speeding throughout the parking lot and flying over speed bumps. He kept accelerating so much so that I flew off the back of the golf cart and landed in the middle of the parking lot. Needless to say, we didn't sign the lease. read more

Some of the positives are: 1. The leasing office staff (Luis) and the maintenance staff are very friendly and professional. It was a pleasure interacting with them. 2. The location is nice right next to the bay and the park. It was an advantage to be able to easily access it and take our dog on walks there. 3. The apartment condition is decent for the rent we paid and we like that we were given an option to discuss the rent for the next year if we were to renew the lease. That is to say, we appreciate that it wasn't increased randomly. Some of the negatives are: 1. Parking can be a frustration here. There have been a few times when people have blocked entry into our parking spot with their cars and disappeared after that. The leasing office staff usually just posts a notice on the car but it looks like that doesn't have any impact. There are many people complaining on the internal portal about their parking spots occupied illegally and nothing has been done about it 2. The walls are thin and we have had neighbors who have used loud bass leading to shaking floors and walls. This wasn't a pleasant experience when we have been working from home. 3. The trees in the front of our apartment started to produce some sort of sticky sap. I think this could be something called honeydew produced by aphid infestation. The stairs, door and patio were all sticky. We requested washing these and we appreciate that someone came and power washed the stairs and the door. However, the patio is now hard to reach for power washing, so that is left sticky. I think this is a seasonal thing and the sticky sap will be back again. read more

I don't get what the issue is with all of the negative reviews but let me clarify how I'm rating this complex... First off, yes, it's an older complex and yes, you pay and arm and leg to live here but that's the SF Peninsula in general. Therefore, my rating is based on other complexes I've seen in the area and already knowing what the average rent is for a one bedroom in the area. No, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a shiny new complex, but I'm okay with that because Creekside simply works for me. It's location is great, I'm 25 minutes from the city and 25 minutes from Palo Alto. Downtown San Mateo is maybeee 4 blocks away and there is a great running trail across the street from the complex. My apartment was the one I visited when I initially came to look at the complex, so no surprises on what I was getting on move in day. All of the appliances are relatively new and in working condition. I have a patio with a storage closet and a small walk in pantry. Two other pluses is that these apartments come with a washer dryer in most units as well as a designated parking spot. Yes, parking any additional cars and visitor parking is almost always impossible and that is one thing I wish they would improve on. Also, the "gym" is SO small... Literally 5 machines and no free weights... Although they are moving it to the office so I'm hoping they will improve it. As far as management goes, Beth and Norma are really nice and I'll often just go to the office to talk and say hello... I can't say I've ever done that in any other complex I've lived in. Neighbor wise... It's mostly quiet, except for a baby I hear crying most nights, but I assume he/she will grow out of that fairly soon. They also allow pets and have cute little bones in the office if you ever bring them in! I have already recommended this complex to friends and I think that repainting and moving the "gym" will make it much improved. read more

I love living in Creekside, the Apartmenys are Good and spacious. I like the Patios they are very spacious. The Staff is kind, the maintenance team is very fast and they respond very fast to maintenance requests. The Apartments is close to the Park, a walk to the Park and there is a dog park which is a walking distance. Should cam view the San Mateo Bridge at the Park which is a very Beautiful view. I like living here as the weather is very Good and has a very nice environments. There are stores close by some drivable and a few walkable distance. Creekside is a Good place for us and we have a washer and drier in the unit. The Unit we live in is 712sqft for a one bedroom which is what we needed. It also comes with a storage. The kitchens are spacious with a microwave too. The living room has is spacious with a Dinning area. The bedroom is spacious fits our California King bed and has 2 chest of drawers and two side drawers for the bed and they fit perfectly well with a TV. They also have a walk in closet and a an additional closet at the corridor. The Bathroom is quite spacious l like the design. read more

This apartment complex will propel you away. Once you are here for 2-3 months and the nice walk by the water starts to matter less. You'll start to notice all the trash, the fact your email to office has sat there for two weeks and you call and they've never seen it. An do not bother leaving any message at the call center. It will never reach Briana or Tamara who may be trying there best. But it is a really awful attempt. Not to mention the unannounced construction they had planned before I moved in and never told me. This is the worst place I have ever lived, go to North Park go to the collection of culligan apartments. Get a room off craigslist. DO NOT go to Creekside. You will 100% regret it. The good: Had a tour with Jeremy, to look at a small unit. He was awesome, helpful and answered my many questions knowledgeably. The bad: Dumpsters overflowing with trash. Small, tight parking. They tack on a lot of odd fees, including a so called "trash concierge" I called in to the office to ask a quick question and was told by Luis (one of the leasing agents) to email instead and not call. Didn't appreciate the way he spoke to me. He was pushy, rude and overused the word "realistically" lol. also used it improperly btw Decided to rent elsewhere for cheaper and in a complex that didn't have those issues. suggest you do the same. read more

I've lived in and toured several apartment communities across the Bay Area and Creekside, hands down, has the best team I've ever worked with. Super friendly, accommodating, quick to respond, and flexible. As important as the apartment and the amenities are, community managers and teams are often overlooked. It really matters who you work with, because it can prevent a lot of headaches for the lifetime of your lease. With Creekside, I have never had a problem in all my months living here. It's fantastic. As far as the property itself, it's perfect if you work on the peninsula. Close to Caltrain, a 5 minute drive to BART, two minutes (at most) to and from the 101 and a few minutes more to the San Mateo bridge if you need access to the East Bay. It's also super close to the airport. The best part, between the freeway and the low flying planes, you hear none of it. I don't know how, but it's extremely quiet and very lovely. The interior of the apartments is quite comfortable and provides great amenities like a personal washer-dryer, dishwasher, and freshly carpeted floors. Just a great all-around comfortable environment to come home to. There's also a beautiful bayside park only a couple minutes walk from the community that's perfect for walking, biking, and just enjoying the Bay Area weather. On top of that, there's convenient shopping center and gas station literally around the corner. Creekside really has it all. I'm extremely satisfied with choice to live at Creekside and I'm sure anyone reading this would be as well. read more

Units and buildings are a little dated, but the staff was super friendly and it was a convenient location, allowing easy walks to the park, and a short distance to Caltrain and San Mateo's downtown. Moved here from the Midwest, I gotta say, The best crew I've come across. Friendly, warm and so professional to get work done when needed. They believe in considering the residents living here as family and that's what I like about it here. You could just walk in the office with a problem and they'll be listening to you to get it solved. The location of Creekside serves a perfect sweet spot with 3 miles from the airport, 2 blocks from the expressway yet secluded, dog parks at walking distance, right next to the bay, 1.5 miles from millbrae metra, and 5 blocks from downtown. I lived here for about 3 years. I really enjoyed the first and third management team. The second was way over their heads. Jeremy was someone I would converse on a regular basis. He is great along with the team that keeps the place up to a standard that makes you want to stay there. It is pro EMT, but it's not over priced for the San Mateo area. There are lots of gems. You located to freeways, Bay Trail path. You are only 1.2 mile one way to the downtown which an incredible assortment of restaurants and other services. Had a virtual tour with Luis yesterday. I am currently on the East coast and moving to the West coast in a couple of months. Luis took me around and was able to show me a couple different units, both a one bedroom and a two bedroom, upper and lower unit. He walked me around (virtually) the complex, gave me an idea of where the main roads were. He answered my questions. Me and my husband just recently moved out of Creekside apartments but overall we were pleased with the team who helped us with everything! The staff team at Creekside were very professional and assisted us with any questions or concerns we may have. Parking is tight but we love that they accept dogs on this property. Samantha and Jessica were always available when I needed them. The maintenance team Witt and Damien are a great help when there was something wrong. Works neat and quick. Pricey and tough with parking. The units are pretty updated. But overal its comfortable and relative to San Mateo prices, it is not a bad place to live. Management can be hit or miss - we were very happy with the first manager, the second (changed 6 or so months in) was a nightmare. But the third (changed 1.5 years in) seemed quite competent and helpful. The leasing agents and rest of staff are great. Moved out after two years due to a combination of concerns with one specific manager (who has since left) and wanted something cheaper. read more

When I took the tour of the place with the "sales" person, I was quoted a rental price that was quite affordable...however, they withheld the fact that utilities (water/trash) are nearly $100.00/mo until I sat down a few days later to sign the lease The appliances and fixtures are old/patched up but functional. Very low-budget stuff. There are signs everywhere alerting us we are being exposed to chemicals which have been known to cause cancer. Now that I am settled and comfortable, they increased the rent $200.00/mo to extend my lease. The mentality of management is very corporate and everything is non-negotiable. If I could give this dump negative stars, I would! I live here now, ONLY because I moved here from Minnesota so I needed a place fast. I was totally unaware about the issues I would be having. The apartments seemed nice at first, and the staff seemed like they actually cared. HA. After we moved in, they come at us with more fees, if rent isnt already enough! $1700 for a one bedroom?! This place is def NOT worth that much! Between garbage, water, and sewer fees its $100 a month! Other randim issues here; no parking, this place has limited parking, beware. There are always break ins! People always seem to be breaking into people's apartments... I dont even feel safe in this so called suberb. I had a really bad wasp problem, the nest was literally above my front door. I sent 2 emails to the staff, and finally the responded. Without notice they sprayed down my entire patio, what if I someone was out there, or I had stuff out there that couldnt get wet?! They were so rude, and didnt even let us know they were going to be doing it! Not to mention, it didnt resolve any wasp issue... they are still there and its been 4 months. Idiots.
