I booked the penthouse for the week of May 4th-10th on January 29th. received an email on April 21st from Capital One saying that "Our hotel partner just let us know that, unfortunately, your reservation for Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort could not be confirmed due to a system error on the hotel's end." To ensure this was really happening, I called Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort and I was told that yes, this is true and "We thought we'd be able to open by May 1st, but due to the damage from the hurricanes last year we can't open due to permits." I was also told that there was no phone number to reach me at. I find that incredibly doubtful as there are many ways you could have contacted me either through the contact information provided at checkout, or you could have made Capital One Travel aware far in advance other than 14 days away from when I'm suppose to be arriving. Also, on April 7th I emailed frontoffice@plazabeach.com to inquire about having an early check in since my arriving flight is early. I got a reply stating the policy on early check in. So, you can reply to my email and tell me the policy for early check in, but you couldn't tell me my room was no longer available. There is absolutely zero excuse as how you could not tell me my room was no longer available. First lie- You had my contact information. The second lie is that you ARE open, and you do have rooms available, you just over booked or gave it to someone one else while I was responsible and booked my room 4 months in advance. I know you have people staying there because I can read the hundreds of recent reviews online. Like I stated before, you ARE open, and there are no "permit" or hurricane damage problems...you messed up and now my family has to face the brunt of it. There are slim to no places to stay in St. Pete Beach now that I've had to start a new search for a place to stay, while STUCK paying high prices because you chose to cancel my booking and I now have to find a place to stay within 13 DAYS. You really do not understand the trouble you are putting my family through because of this. There was no solution offered. I don't understand how a company can do this. With such high pride in your customer service and that you strive to be the best, this is the most unprofessional, un-moral thing to do and I'm absolutely disgusted by this. I'm almost at my whits end and will just cancel my whole family vacation because YOU screwed up! read more

I booked a staycation here with my friends and children. This is a cute little property on the beach but I was extremely disappointed with my stay here. At the initial check in the young lady at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful. She could possibly use a lesson in customer service. I wasn't the only individual she was rude to so maybe it was a bad day. The rooms were very small and outdated. It was advertised for 6 people. We had 3 adults 1 child and 2 toddlers but felt like sardines. Upon booking we got a notification that there is an additional $40 per person resort fee which we were fine to pay but it slightly seemed like a scam. When we checked in we were notified and charged for an additional per person fee which they were not up front about. Had they been up front about all the fees we would have opted to stay somewhere much nicer. They only allow 1 parking space per booking, but there is NOWHERE to park. After complaining they did refund a portion of our resort fees but over all it was an inconvenience to stay here. If the price point were better I would say it's more appropriate for drunk college kids who are just there to sleep. read more

We really enjoyed this place. Sheldon, the manager started to check us in and he was absolutely pleasant. He was wearing an amazing flamingo suit too. We were even offered free wine and beer. They have free drinks in the lobby from 4-5. The girl who finished checking us in was also a sweetheart too. If you do stay at this resort, note that you check in down the street in the opposite side. You can use amenities at all three resorts, and they're just a ma and pop type. They have human sized jenga and chess too. At this location they allow pets and they even have a gated area for them. Pets are an extra $25/night and there's is a resort fee. For both nights it cost us about $250. I think it's worth it. Our room faces the water and even has a full fridge and little kitchenette. You also get free beach access at the resort where you check in. read more

We stayed for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend in the Penthouse with Balcony Suite. The highlights were the spacious room and the water view. I was very happy with the bay view because it felt as though we were right on the water, as compared to the hotels with gulf views that are set further back from the water. I loved having plenty of room to spread out. We didn't really use the kitchen, but it was great having a full size fridge. I accidentally strained my knee the first night so it was very convenient being able to get crushed ice right there in our room. The room was clean and had everything we needed, but don't go expecting anything other than the basics. There's no heavenly bed or fancy bath amenities here. They don't even have daily housekeeping service, although that's fine with us because we usually don't need it anyway. For the size of the overall room, the bathroom could have been bigger. We went across the street to the Plaza Beach Hotel one night to watch the sunset. The bartender at the pool bar was friendly, and it was nice to have the convenient access to the beach. We didn't spend as much time at the beach as I expected, but I ended up being able to relax and lounge outside with a book on our balcony. Overall the Bayview Plaza was a good value, compared to prices that I was seeing for other hotels in the area. Sure we could have paid a lot more for a gulf view room on the beach, but I was happy with our spacious bay view room for the price we paid. I will definitely return for our next trip to St. Pete. read more

I made a reservation for a hotel stay in St. Petersburg for one night (May 16th) to attend my grandson's high school graduation. Upon arriving at the property location, I was stunned to see that the location that was advertised on Priceline was totally a misrepresentation of what it actually was. It should not be called a hotel because it is a motel, and they should not be able to use the word RESORT in any of their advertisement because it is a motel with a few upgrades at the end of the day. Since I had booked through a third party and couldn't get a refund or cancel my reservation, I wound up staying at this location. So I checked into my room and got ready for my grandson's graduation (I was almost late for the graduation because I was dealing with this issue which put me an hour behind on my schedule). I returned back to my hotel at around 11:00pm and when I turned on the lights in the bathroom, three roaches scurried around the room. I was able to take a picture of one of them. The next morning, I contacted the front desk of the hotel and they told me that they were surprised to hear that because they never had any complaints about roaches before and that they don't have roaches. She told me that she could not refund me the money for my stay because it was purchased through a third party (Priceline). As I was leaving to go to the front desk to check out, I opened the front door of my room, and a roach greeted me at the front door and began crawling all around my hotel room before I could kill it. I actually took a video of this incident. When I got to the front desk and showed her the photo of the roach from the night before along with the video of the roach from that morning (5/17), she changed her story saying that Florida is known for roaches and that they had just had their place fumigated which is something that they do as part of their fumigation scheduled maintenance. She then went on to say that the reason the roaches were coming inside was because they had just sprayed the property outside, and they were trying to get away. I have never heard of anything so absurd in my life. The bottom-line, I will never stay at this location again nor will I ever book from Priceline for any of my travel plans. read more

They charge you extra if you with your kid with out telling you. I not even understand why their toilet not flush because they want safe water. As the name suggests the name of this hotel is "bayview" meaning you look onto a reminisce of an ocean and you can see residential housing from across the water. You can also see their boats and the docks that they have. This hotel isn't horrible but I wouldn't come here again. We enjoyed our stay here and likely would return. We got a room on the first floor looking over the water/dock. The view was nice, but almost always had people right outside our door. It was very busy with many people on the dock or walking dogs. It felt like we were the only ones in the hotel who didn't bring a dog with us. The kitchenette is nice to have. There is a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee. We walked to the other hotel to get coffee and discovered that wasn't available until 8am. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bay Palms which is one of the three hotels that are part of the Bayview Plaza Resorts. We stayed in room 216 which was the two bedroom two bathroom apartment style room. The living room area and one of the bedrooms has a large window with a view of the boca ciega bay/intercoastal waterway. Beach access is a very close walk less than a block away across the street and there is a traffic light to cross safely. We didn't see any dolphins or manatees but lots of birds and fish. There's dishes and silverware in the room and lots of room to spread out. Management fixed some of the little things we noticed after our stay like a loose faucet and toilet paper holder attachments. As well as plastic wrap left on the lamps made it look like they rushed to get the room remodeled. But after asking the management, they said the mother likes to leave the plastic on because it looks and keeps it new. I was surprised that they didn't vacuum everyday with all the sand that you bring in. They are an environmentally conscious hotel and don't replace your sheets and towels everyday unless you ask. Which saves water and energy. The only draw backs were a few obnoxious, drunk guests (not spring breakers) and cigarette smoke from guests. Overall we liked the bay palms and it's kitchy boutique feel. It was nice to be a guest at all of the hotels and be able to use the parking lots of the other hotels because parking at bay palms is close to the street and you have to back into traffic to get out. Also beach access from the other hotel was nice to be able to use their restroom and clean sand off your beachy feet. read more

Bayview Plaza was AMAZING!! From the moment you check in, the customer service is unbeatable. You check in at the main resort across the street and since we came from the airport, they drove us to our room with our bags. We stayed in a queen suite with a bay view and had the best room in the whole place. The balcony was completely private and the entire room was so clean. We had a full-size fridge that was perfect for snacks as well as a kitchenette for cooking and heating up any meals. The amenities at the resort are amazing and you get to use all amenities between all three resorts. I cannot say enough praise about the staff and their level of service. They had a super convenient texting support where I was able to ask questions from places to eat to inquiring late checkout. I can honestly say that I plan on staying here every time. I was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the room was. Had a full kitchen, and they have gone out if their way to be Eco-friendly. Bed was a little tough, pillows a little flat but everything was clean and felt new. Had to go a little out of the way to check in... But there is free beer/wine 4-5, and free coffee in the morning. I came here for a long beach weekend with my two pups and we all had a blast. Attentive staff from my initial phone call to check out. My waterfront studio was well appointed and immaculate! They are eco friendly and seem to genuinely care about your experience. Rates are very competitive for the area. Only drawback was that there weren't any coffee makers in rooms. There are two resorts in the bayside next door to each other and one on the beachfront about 100 yards to the south. Both locations have pools but no hot tub. We stayed during a cold spell in January but the pools were heated to 84° and the kids were able to swim. Very clean and reasonably priced. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Beer/wine happy hour daily from 4-5. The two bayside properties each have a large pier to fish from. Office rents poles for $5 day and no license is required to fish from a private pier. I didn't fish but saw a guy catch several nice Amber Jack. Rooms had a full kitchen and dishes and utensils. The cable reception was poor, but hopefully you don't waste your vacation watching TV. read more

I accidentally booked a bay front room, instead of a gulf front room. When I realized this, I asked them to change the room, but was told that all three hotels were 100% booked and I would just have to be happy where I booked. It wasn't what I wanted, tho. I explained that it was my wife's 65th birthday and that I wanted it to be perfect for her. No go. No help what so ever from them. Just be happy for what you get from us. Apparently, I was LUCKY to have a reservation at all! The reservation was booked 5 days before my intended stay, but their policy says that I have to cancel 7 days prior. As a result, they refused to let me cancel. Does that make sense? In the end, I said, "Screw them. Keep the money. Choke on it" and walked. I seriously doubt that the hotel was 100% booked, because I drove by their half-empty parking lot while I was in town... all three of them. We was staying at the Dolphin Beach Resort, 4900 Gulf Blvd, St Pete Beach, FL. Now THAT'S a hotel! Stay there instead. read more

This was my third trip to St. Pete, and fourth hotel stay. I have previously stayed at the Zamora (terrible), the Cesar (great & expensive), and at the Hollander downtown (amazing). I was travelling with my roommate for her first time in St. Pete and her birthday week. We were staying for 5 nights, and wanted something close to the beach, boutique, and affordable; the Bayview fit the bill. We called ahead to confirm our reservation and bed choice, as we had booked through Priceline, and to let them know that we would be arriving late. Our flight ended up delayed, so we arrived even later than expected (after 10pm) on a Monday night. We walked down the street to the sister hotel, as instructed, to retrieve our keys from the drop box, since the office is closed in the evenings. Tired after a long day of work and then travel, we were looking forward to putting our things away and relaxing for a bit before heading out for a late dinner. We were, therefore, extra shocked and dismayed to find that our room had only one king bed. With no recourse, as the office was closed, we had to make due for the night, in hopes that the situation would be resolved in the morning. The next morning, after a somewhat fitful night of sleep, we walked back to the sister hotel to the office. While waiting to be helped I noticed that the coffee, which I had hunted through the kitchen for, was being sold by the packet in the office. I have never seen that in a hotel before. There was only one front desk attendant working, so when it came our turn, we explained to her our situation. She apologized right away and began looking up our reservation in the system. She then pointed out that we had booked through a "3rd party website", and that we should have called to confirm. We told her that we had, in fact, called to confirm, and had also requested two beds through Priceline. She didn't have much of a response to this, other than "so you still want two beds?". Our response was, of course, "yes, please, we really don't want to sleep together all week." After another 10 minutes of silent computer pecking, we were told that "It would be an inconvenience, and a lot things would have to be moved around, but we could get you a room with a fold out bed." Since, in my experience, sleeping on a roll out bed is akin to sleeping on a blanket on the floor, we politely declined. She had also made it apparent that this offer was doing us a huge favor, even though we had done our due diligence to get the room requested. Needless to say, we were disappointed, and not excited about sharing a bed for 4 more nights. Other than this (somewhat large) issue, our stay was very nice. The location is perfect! I loved that there was a Walgreens right across the street, as I always forget to pack something. The room was clean and spacious; the bathroom small, but also clean. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the bay that we enjoyed sitting on in the evenings, and we really enjoyed the dock in the back. We even grilled our dinner one night and saw a couple dolphins! The pool was a small and a bit dirty (I found a contact stuck to my leg when I got out), but the pool at the sister hotel was large and nice. Checkout was a breeze and this desk attendant was very friendly (Derrick, maybe?). I'm a sucker for a 'free gift', so was happy to get to choose a coffee mug upon checkout. I love small, family owned hotels. I like that they usually make you feel at home when you're away, but I also (almost) always book my stays through Priceline, and have never had it be such an issue. I don't know if I would stay at the Bayfront again, but my suggestion is to book directly with the hotel, as they seem to favor those who do. read more

I love the fact that you have the ability to access all 3 facilities which while we stayed on bayside, we were able to hang out on the beach and the beach bar (it needs to stay open longer). We chose Bayview Plaza so we could leave our boat in the water at the dock. The launch from the closest boat ramp is easy to use and the ride to Bayview is scenic and easy to navigate - nice deep water! The room was not big but it was waterfront and had a nice patio to hang out on and watch the sunrise. The facilities overall are a 4 but the service was a FIVE! Our TV stopped working and as soon as text the main office, 5 mins later a tech was knocking on our door. I truly valued the text message check ins with us throughout our stay and the immense responsiveness by the team!! read more

We stayed here for the first two nights of a three-night family wedding weekend because the Grand Plaza hotel (site of the wedding) was insanely expensive for our budget. However, after staying here at the Bayview, I should have just ponied up the extra cash in exchange for a little peace of mind. When we arrived at the motel, we discovered that we had to check in at the larger Beachview resort, located two blocks north. Dragging our luggage up the road in 95 degree heat after flying all day made us a little cranky. Once in our room, we were greeted by two double beds instead of the king we had requested. Our key did not work in the deadbolt, so the only lock holding the door closed while we were out was the flimsy doorknob one. The air conditioner in the kitchen was on for only a few minutes before it filled the suite with a horrible dead-animal stench... thank God the larger one in the living room worked well. The bathroom had a corner shower, no tub, but was at least roomy enough to accommodate two adults getting ready at the same time. I understood going into this experience that this "resort" is an economical alternative to fancy hotels and much better suits the needs of families and couples staying in the area for extended lengths of time, hence the full kitchen and such. However, a hotel-motel still has its "things" that make it just that, like housekeeping services and the not-that-inexpensive rates. The constant Mother-like nagging signs posted throughout the suite are uncalled for..."don't wipe your makeup off with the washcloths"..."replace the remote control on this laminated paper or you will be charged a lost remote fee"... they seemed demeaning and unnecessary. We aren't the type to abuse our stays in hotels, and although such creatures exist in the world, there is no need to insult those that don't trash a hotel room during their visit.. just hammer the animals with an additional cleaning fee as expected in any other hotel. additionally, they advertise free wifi but it turns out that its only available at the "big" resort where we had to check in... the other two sister resorts have no service. If you're in the area for only a few days, work some overtime or share the hotel bill with friends so you can stay in something much nicer than this place. read more

This was a very nice room with a nice, newer bathroom, a kitchenette, and an outside patio near the water. Also, the room was very clean. We ended up here on an express deal through Priceline and didn't know what to expect. We were actually pleasantly surprised. The set up is a little strange as you must check in on the main beachfront property but we were prepared for this after reading the previous reviews. Our room was spotless, small but adequate with a very nice updated bathroom/shower and a little kitchen. We were upgraded to a waterfront room upon arrival without even asking. The housekeeper was extremely attentive and helpful as well as the front desk. There's a tiny fitness room but luckily it had a newer elliptical machine which is all I really needed so it was also adequate for me. We would stay here again. read more

This is my first trip to St Pete's beach Florida and the only hotel I've stayed in, but at one time in my life I was a travel agent, and can honestly say that when it comes to value for the experience this is a sure thing for someone who wants a nice, clean comfortable room, and is okay trading service for savings. The room is clean, the beds comfortable and each room has a full size fridge, cook stove, microwave coffee maker and toaster. The bathroom is shower only and the beach, pool and hotel registration are across the street and a block up the road, but the savings well worth the minor inconvenience to me. We arrived at the office, which is separated from the actual hotel by about a quarter mile, and we thought that we were in for a really bumpy ride. This impression was reinforced when we saw the actual hotel. The colors were garish and, well, Florida-y. Being from the north, this color scheme was indicative of poorly kept places. We were VERY wrong. The grounds were immaculate. Everything was well maintained. The pool, while small, is clean and inviting. The room is a complete surprise. It is clean, well maintained. The linens are fresh and clean; there is a small cook top and fridge. There are actual dishes in the cabinets! This was a great place to stay. I am glad that my preconceived notions were up ended and proven wrong. I heartily recommend this hotel to one and all! read more

From living in NY and coming from -10 degrees I wanted to be at a beachfront hotel so I could have 100% access to the beach and even though we're across the street we still had that access. It is in a great location. The hotel is very accommodating and was extremely welcoming when we arrived. They gave us coupons for all of the local restaurants to try. When we got to our room we were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and updated with a perfect little kitchenette that we made breakfast at every morning. Each room has a balcony overlooking the bay and we would wake up early and watch the beautiful sunrise. Everyone is just so friendly here at first we thought it was strange but realized everyone is just really happy and nice. There are zero complaints about this hotel and highly recommend it to anyone.
