Fried mushrooms---HUGE!! 3 for $1!!! I crave these things! The coating is similar to what would be on fried chicken-YUM!!

On any other occasion I would give Bayview a solid 4 stars, but Lake Fair weekend has lowered my vote Admittedly, I only stop by for an occasional lunch when I'm downtown. The deli staff are amazing every single time! The food is delicious every single time! A tad more expensive than the local Safeway--but I'll spring for it occasionally. Lake Fair weekend though--where do I start... they hire additional persons to monitor the parking lot. I get that, they want parking for their customers, not fair goers. Well, the older guy in the yellow vest.. eek! He's a chatty man. I parked in a shaded area while my oldest son ran into the store to get us some snacks and drinks while we waited for my other son to meet us (he had a temp job with Funtastic). He approached my car while I was waiting... made sure that I was not leaving my car to head over to the carnival--was sure to let me know the manager was on a war path and threatening to tow everyone... stayed to let me know his political stance on why downtown has so many 'bums'. Proceeded to let me know that the only way to change that it to change who we elect and pointed at the Capitol. About 15 minutes pass and my son had returned with our snacks and drinks, the man walks up again to check when we would be leaving... On the bright side--the ladies at the deli counter made me some fantastic fried mushrooms to snack on while I listened to this guy's second round of political garbage.

Definitely on the pricey side of things. This reminds me of a standard grocery store trying to branch out into speciality items. I have NO idea why their juice section is so expensive but I'll admit, I did pick up a horchata there and was amazed at the brand's taste. Not sure if a drink that small was worth $6.99 but I'll let that slide. The deli seems fairly standard as well but their cheese section has to be appreciated, at least from us cheese lovers. Mmmmm! The bakery was also ridiculously set up with so many temptations that I had to walk to the other side of the store. The staff seem friendly. It also looked as if there are quite a few regulars as some of the customer base seemed to be on a first name basis with the staff. There was nothing about this store that wows me besides the view that is has around the store location.

Yogurt is 6$ at other stores and only $3 at Winco For the same brand. A warning for women who go shopping alone. I was almost attacked by a man in the parking lot and had to call the police. He blocked me into my parking spot and got out of his vehicle screaming at me. Just warning people get crazy here, maybe Lacey in General. So I usually take my husband now, and do not go alone. The service is better now, and I have not seen the cashier who was rude before. The customer service people are so nice, quick and helpful. And the cashiers are generally friendly and pretty fast. Glad I gave this place another chance.

Today, a man with a long unkempt beard and a dog half his height (unleashed) were walking the aisles. I complained to customer service about this. This is a filthy habit in a grocery store where there is food, food in open containers (bulk items) meat and produce. The manager (a black middle-aged female) and a security person, approached the man and recieved the same excuse, that it is a security animal. The manager allowed him to continue shopping. I then complained to the manager about WINCO practices. The manager then threatened to have me thrown out of the store. I am a senior citizen, older WHITE male with white hair. Tell me this is not DISCRIMINATION. We older white men are targets for discriminatory hatred among black females. This is a matter that needs to be addressed. That manager needs to find work elsewhere. No customer should be treated that way for complaining about store policy. WINCO - LACEY is going to become a homeless encampment, and I guess that is ok. Every type of behavior and all people, except older white men, are welcome/with their animals, at the "not so diverse" WINCO-LACEY. White men/older white men are being marginalized by black females. That is a fact. DISCRIMINATION should not be allowed. This behavior of the black, female WINCO store manager should not be tolerated . Corporate should do something about this. Corporate has been notified. This doesn't end with a Yelp review.

However, I feel that the Pacific Avenue location's crowdedness makes it a little more fun to discover all the little culinary surprises the store has hidden away. What this location has in favor of it was one little wedge of cheese that we've been looking for forever since we moved to Washington State- a wedge of Brillat Savarin. For me, there is no other brie. One time I was at the Cheese Board Collective in Berkeley to find a blue cheese from Asturias when I saw the Brillat Savarin and insisted my mom get it for a party. She asked why the big deal and I said that it's the closest thing a cheese can get to butter. The cheesemonger standing in front of us looked up from his cheese sorting, looked us with crazy eyes and whispered, "No. It IS butter." He then stopped what he was doing to spread out a runny dab for her on a cracker and my mom saw the light. We were so excited about finally finding this cheese when other people heard my sister singing its' praises and they wanted it. There was only one wedge left, so my sister gracefully let another man have it. I mean, how else do you spread the gospel and make converts until other people have had their own spiritual experience. So we'll be back again with the hope that they restock.

They always have maybe the best produce quality in the area, and often have the odd and/or seasonal produce items. The bakery is TOP NOTCH, and I'd put their baked goods up against any local bakery. They stock much harder to find items (rum-barrel aged maple syrup, high-end tinned fish, fresh pasta, so on) and have a lovely housewares department and a hot food counter with a good selection of more than just soggy Chinese and jojos. There is a dining area and a Starbucks, the floral department looks great, and I love their wine selection. Ample parking, friendly staff, and conveniently close to both 101 and lots of other shopping.
