Something for everyone to scratch that creative itch. There's a lot going on here but it's organized by category which is helpful. Also, there's an option to donate here which is always great! Agree with other reviewers that the area doesn't feel the safest and is a bit apocalyptic (barbed fence wires with no one walking around) but I think it adds to the charm of the place. Just don't recommend coming here at night and take an Uber/drive if you can as it's located in an industrial area.

That said, my recent donation experience was honestly off-putting. When I dropped off my items, the person working the donation window was very dismissive and quickly waved me off without any acknowledgment or basic courtesy. It felt like I was being shooed away rather than thanked for donating. It might seem like a small interaction, but for a place that relies on community contributions, that moment matters. A simple "thank you" or even a neutral, respectful handoff would go a long way. I still appreciate the mission, but the experience made me think twice about donating again. Hoping this is something the team can address.

I attended the Pouring Bear event, and there was a wide variety of colors to choose from and clean setup. I struggled for three hours and accidentally created a big hole on the first try, and had to replace a handgun because it was weak. David, another instructor, happily replaced the whole canvas, so I had to start over by drawing the design through their portable Bluetooth projector. He warned me that if I ripped another canvas, there would be an extra cost. For the next two hours, I got a handle on the handgun, but still needed assistance from my friend since she had experience in punch needle, which is a manual, mini version of tufting without a handgun. I accidentally made a small hole by puncturing the same spot twice to fix the gap, so I asked Monica for advice. She suggested that I should make a small patch on the bottom side of the design so she can glue it later. However, David came to analyze the hole and happily fixed it for me by filling in the rest of the gaps. I didn't have to do extra work. Five hours later, all the crew members were helping us put each design together by patching it up and shaving. Since they were busy, I had to wait for my turn to use the vacuum and trimmer to shave off excess yarn on top of the design to give it a polished 3D look. I felt bad for that one girl who couldn't finish tufting her Hello Kitty since she arrived here 30 minutes before our appointment. Overall, it was a fun and humbling experience for under $200, based on canvas size. Very time-consuming, yet there's a promo for on a weekday suitable for couples: $168 for two small ones and $206 for two mediums. They even offer a group package suitable for parties of five. Great for any special occasions and corporate socials. Also kids over 12 years old can do it. Complimentary snacks are available for customers, but the Pop Mart figurines are available for purchase. Must reserve a spot on their website or IG page before they open on weekends.

We came here last month to paint 2 bowls which cost us only ~$76 total for the studio time and bowls themselves. And, before anyone says anything and blames us, YES we did a double coat of paint! Then, we came a week later to pick them up and in the moment, they looked good! Then once we got home, we realized that there was a little paint chip on one of the bowls, making it no longer food safe. Granted, we probably should have noticed this ourselves when we picked up the bowls but we believe it is also the employees' responsibility to perform a quality check before giving a product to a paying customer?! Instead, they didn't say a word when we picked it up the first time so we had to notice the defect ourselves and drive all the way back from the east bay to get it fixed. After coming back to get it fixed, we came back yet another time to pick up the fixed bowl, believing that the bowl's paint chip would be fixed this time. However, to our surprise, the bowl was not fixed. Rather, the paint chips were even worse this time...going from a single small paint chip to SEVERAL large paint chips along the outer edge of the bowl. Again, the employee didn't say anything to us when they gave us the bowl until we pointed out how the paint chips were even WORSE this time. In response, they blamed the worsened condition of the bowl on their "finicky burner" and offered us either a $36 refund or store credit. They didn't even apologize for their mistake or wasting our time yet again. Of course, we took the refund because why would we take another chance here... Personally, I am grateful that they gave us a refund but I feel this experience was a huge waste of time and money. We had to make 4 separate trips from the east bay to SF and what did we get out of it? A bowl with a shitty paint job that somehow got worse with each "fix". A $36 refund doesn't even cover the cost of tolls to cross the bay bridge and come back this many times, not mention the cost of the time and GAS we spent coming back so many times. Overall, I hope Terra Mia Ceramic Studios takes this as a learning lesson to perform more rigorous quality inspections before giving the finished product to paying customers as prevent their customers from wasting time and money coming back to get it fixed. After all, after we finish painting, everything else is in the hands of the employees (glazing, firing, quality check, etc), all we do is come back to pick up the finished product. I feel as though this all could have been avoided, especially since it's just a simple bowl...there are so many more intricate complicated objects that people paint at the studio... Painting the bowls was a great fun experience but we are not happy about coming back 3 additional times to get it fixed only for it to get worse each successive time.

You can find its handmade…read morewatercolors at places like the SFMOMA Museum Store and select arts and crafts stores, but this location is CfM's brick-and-mortar shop. This small business makes its own watercolors and letterpress paper goods. CfM watercolors are made from high-quality pigments and natural binding mediums (gum arabic, glycerin, honey, distilled water, and clove oil). Some CfM watercolors are more expensive than others because colors like Malachite and Lapis Lazuli are made from actual crushed minerals. Please note that their watercolors are priced similarly to other premium watercolor brands like Stoneground Paint Company and Beam Paints. [Best seller]: The CfM Small Palette (fits up to 14 half pans and has room in the center for a small travel brush) and the CfM Simple Travel Palette (small enough to fit in a purse or pocket) are some the top favorites. [Workshops]: CfM offers online workshops via Zoom as well as in-person classes at its new studio next door - the CfM Art Room. [Parking]: Street parking only, but not impossible to find an available spot in this part of the neighborhood. In addition, the shop is located near the Judah St & 46th Ave streetcar stop. [In-store]: Customers can choose a tin and build their own watercolor set. The store also sells sketchbooks, art supplies, stationery, Toyo toolboxes, stickers, etc. [Conclusion]: An amazing shop and definitely worth checking this shop out for watercolor enthusiasts, but this is an alright shop for those looking for unique stationery options.

The water colors are special they have really good opacity and sit well on top of the paper. They might not have as nice of translucency as other brands. However they are really expensive and there are other products that are available for cheaper and comparable quality on the market. However, the staff can be aloof and rude within the store. The teachers are generally sweet and supportive and classes are affordable. After multiple positive class experiences, I had inquired about teaching as I have been doing art for a while and really wanted to give back to my community and share what I know I'm good at. The application to get involved process was odd, they were slow to respond, but also rude and unprofessional. It upfront on their goals and processes. I was not notified that there was a already an established class nearly identical to my proposal prior to filling out a lengthy application. I was also told they didn't want to move forward because I lacked an established creative arts background (while not inquiring directly about a CV), which was later amended to they were unable to move forward due to scheduling and volume of inquiries (while only offering 3 in person classes that month instead of the standard dozen). I have no issue with being rejected, it's all about fit anyways, but was saddened to have my creative experience being belittled and the lack of professionalism. It was just a very odd and condescending experience that I would not want any artist that puts their heart and soul into a proposal to have to experience.
