You'll have to take it from me when I say they 100% got it right. Every side item they brought to our table (banchan) felt and tasted as authentic as it comes. The only dish I do not recall having in Korea was the "potato salad" and it was DELICIOUS! Maybe it's a modern twist or maybe it's just something I never came across there but it was one of my favorite dishes and I could eat a giant bowl on its own. The meats were all amazingly seasoned. That's what Korean bbq is about. The seasoning and care taken when making it. If you're expecting a giant plate of bbq ribs smothered in sweet ketchup based bbq sauce ...well, stay home. That's not what you're going to get here and I would be disappointed if I did. What we got instead was carefully executed authentic Korean bbq. Everything that was cited as spicy...was spicy. Anything that was cited as sweet, was sweet. I see some people complaining about the up charge for more short rib. Those people have obviously never owned or worked in a restaurant. These days some restaurants charge you $2.00 extra for a tomato on your burger. It's just the nature of the economy these days. Expect up charges or stay home. You can feed four people hamburger helper at home for under $12 but it's not going to be near as tasty as this delicious food is. It takes labor dollars to make the food you're eating and you can't expect premium meats to be given away endlessly without an up charge. One thing I found exceptionally awesome was the fact that our server changed the grill plate quickly, and often without us having to ask. I've found in other KB restaurants they wait for you to ask or they don't change them at all. Sure you have to wait a few minutes for the plate to heat up again but so what? What's your hurry? Enjoy the company you're dining with and it'll be hot in a few minutes. I notice some people complained about ventilation. That problem has obviously been fixed. I am a lung cancer survivor with one lung at 80% and the other at less than 20% and I didn't have any issues with smoke. There was none except for directly over the grill when you're cooking and that seemed to dissipate as it was forming. Our server was great. Yes she was young and probably relatively new to the serving field...but she was super hospitable...came to the table constantly checking on us...and I would give her five stars for her efforts. I'm a decent tipper when service is on point and she earned the 25% for sure. I know a lot of people reviewing restaurants and on social media complain about tipping culture but this is America. We tip here. Get on board or stay home. No one should have to run around bringing you dish after dish and three hundred different requests for napkins and more food and not get rewarded for it. Work a shift or two at a busy restaurant and then tell me how you feel about tipping. Anyway...the food was great. It's a cool spot from top to bottom and the service was on point. I'm not saying everyone's experience should completely mimic mine but I believe a few people could be a little more honest and a little more self aware. Saying the prices should be cheaper because you're cooking the food yourself is the same as saying a Mercedes should be the same price as a Kia because they're both made of metal. Sometimes customers have unrealistic expectations (like getting endless short ribs for no additional charge or for a server to take responsibility for pricing when they don't set the prices) and that's unfair to use as a negative when reviewing a very young restaurant. Even the fanciest of places have some growing pains in the beginning. If you haven't been to this place ...get there. If you have and your experience wasn't what you expected...especially if you came right after they opened...try it again. I believe the kinks some of you were referring to have been worked out and I also believe Im going to be spending a lot of money at this place lol. All in I give them 5 stars for my experience. Thank you for bringing some authenticity to Brick. Those of us who know...really appreciate it. Also...make sure you update your online presence to reflect you are a BYOB.
