From the Poke to the owners I can't say enough about this place. The owners hail from Hawaii and are the nicest people. Wife and I got take out recently and were very pleased. Both of us got a Doshirak, which is a Korean lunch box. The Doshirak comes with your choice of protein plus japchae, mandoo, soup, salad, white rice, and edamame. I got spicy garlic chicken and my wife got beef bulgogi. Both of them were very good but my preference was the spicy garlic chicken. Price for the beef bulgogi was $20. Price for the spicy garlic chicken was $22. Those prices make you long for what it might have cost 5-6 years ago but these are different times. With everything that they give you, it feels like you're getting your money's worth. This dish comes with a variety of sides including soup, salad, rice, and more. Everything was great and the pork bulgogi was well done and had a smoky flavor. We also had the jumbo shrimp shumai as an appetizer. It comes out nice and hot, the filling is yummy and the exterior is the perfect amount of crunchy. This place easily provided the best customer service I have ever experienced. The employee here brought out food to our table very quickly, always checked on how we were doing, and went above and beyond in every way possible. I was surprised when I I got my food because the guy across from me got the same thing and it look delicious.The chicken that I received was still discolored inside and look like it came from a freezer like Tyson or some brand like that. Maybe this place is too authentic for me. I didn't love the flavors. Glorified take-out place. Fried dumplings were nothing special, Had Beef Bulgogi for main course. The meat (rib-eye) was chewy. The owner is lovely -- very kind & generous woman. I chose the garlic chicken entree which comes with four sides, but she gave me a salad and japchae to try as well which were both great. I loved the soy potatoes and the kimchi the most. Their kimchi tasted very unique to me in the best way, it was a mild spice and had more of a garlic flavor to it which I really enjoyed. They're platters are full to the brim with a different sides, meat and rice. It's honestly everything you can ask for in a meal. The service was absolutely wonderful, the woman at the register was telling us about which items were the best sellers, and how they were made. She also gave us recommendations on what drinks we should get along side our platters. Out of everything we tried the win for the night was definitely the spicy garlic chicken. Veggie Bibimbap, chicken katsu, SO excited they offer both brown and black rice - black is our fav though$3 up-charge is a bit much, when an entire bag of black rice at Whole Foods is only $7 and definitely much cheaper at restaurant supply. Kimchi and all of the sides we tried were so good; braised potatoes, Japchae and especially loved the pickled Daikon which paired well with the fried chicken as it cuts the fat. Our only negatives - the high up-charge for brown or black rice, as well it's a $1.50 for a tiny side of sauce. Also, they packaged the nice crispy chicken katsu on-top of the hot, steamy rice so it was no longer crispy katsu.. please wrap it in foil or pack separate so you can enjoy that crispy chicken in take out. Food is pretty good. BUT, today when I dined in, they tried to charge me 20% automatic service charge, which is not announced beforehand or presented anywhere in the store. Background knowledge: there was no waiter/waitress, the owner brought our food and water. The OWNER wanted me to tip her for her service, which is absolutely insane and unreasonable to me. As the owner, you are making profits for selling your food already, and a tip is for underpaid waiters/waitresses to make up for their living wage. The most unacceptable thing in this unpleasant encounter was that when I argued about it, the owner blatantly rolled her eyes at me like I was the crazy one (yeah lady, I saw that). First time I came a few months back it was good so I went to try again however I called over the phone for my exact order of kalbi bibimbap that I got last time but person on the phone confused it for beef kimbap somehow. Once I brought it up to the cashier she tried to say that's what I ordered on the phone and I informed her it wasn't; it was a completely different meat and meal unfortunately since it seemed she wasn't going to resolve it I was too hungry so I ended up taking it to give it a try however it wasn't very good. I've been wanting to give this place a try for a while. I love Korean food and was happy that there was one in the area that I haven't tried yet. The restaurant is small, but comfortable. Along the leftmost wall are large framed pictures of food, while the ordering counter and kitchen is located on the right side of the place. Screens displaying the menu adorn the top of the wall behind the counter, but individual menus are given out to customers. This place is more like a hole-in-the wall kind of ambience and I love that because I know the food will be good. Daughter ordered the tuna and salmon poke with spicy chili oil. It was a lot spicier than daughter expected but she liked the burn that it gave her, anyway. While she loved the dish, she said that she's going to tone down the spice next time. LOL. The tuna and salmon poke were fresh. Hubs ordered seafood ramyun. He loved it and loved the fact that they don't use udon and used ramen, instead. He said that he likes jambong and loved this dish even more because ramen was used. Lastly, I ordered the beef bulgogi doshirak. I ordered it in a box because I was curious as to what was in it. Mandu dumplings were delicious. Beef bulgogi was delicious and the japchae was excellent, as well. Service was friendly and quick. Felt like trying something new so found this place. They have very cool dishes here. Had the chicken Katsu with rice and 4 sides. Was delicious! A little fatty but crunch so was good! Don't let the unassuming store front trick you...this place is a gem! We ordered takeout on the way to the beach and got the bibimbap and kalbi set. For the set we got to choose the bonchons and each one was delicious. The portions were super generous, we fed three people comfortably with the two orders. Soooooooo ono. My fave local takeout is a perfect blend of Korean BBQ with a Hawaiian twist. My usual go to is Spicy Pork. I love that you can choose your individual banchan. I wish we could have this every day. The meals are pretty generous, we can definitely get two meals from them. I haven't had a chance to try all the other menu items but look forward to it. Everything is made to order. The pork was crispy and fresh. I could only eat half of it. I had kimchee, tofu, japchae and bean curd. All good japchae could use a little more flavor. The restaurant is clean and seats about 25 people (5-6) tables. While I was eating, several patrons came in but had to takeout because all the tables were full. I'm happy that business is good! Ono is one of my favorite spots! I love the bibimbap which I get with brown rice and tofu. The veggies are bountiful and it gives you a nice variety in every bite. Their side dishes are also amazing- my favorites are the pickled radish and marinated potatoes. At first glance, everything on the menu looked delicious and I didn't know what to choose. I had ordered the SPICY BULGOGI, and my companion had ordered the POKE BOWL. The serving sizes were very generous, most especially that of the Spicy Bulgogi. The spice level did have a nice kick to it, but I especially enjoyed the various side dishes you were able to choose from for the item. I had gotten: Mac Salad, Fish Cake, Greens & Kimchi. I'm usually not a fan of Mac Salad, but I think this was my favorite side dish out of all of them. As for the Poke Bowl--although it may have lacked in an overload of sauces as compared to other Poke Places, the flavor most especially did not lack.
