Ordered online and waited in the drive through line for 20 minutes only to be told by that they didn't have what I ordered. The guy, pretty sure it was the manager, said pick something else . I told him I wanted what I ordered and he curtly said that the kitchen is closed you'll just have to take the refund. Can't wait until a KFC reopens in the area. Ordered a chicken sandwich and directly after my tongue started tingling. Next thing you know, I vomited 11x and had liquid diarrhea 9x until nothing but bile was coming out of me. I lost 5 lbs in 1 day and all I've been able to eat so far after 2 days are goldfish crisps. Missed my first day of work bc of the food poisoning and the owner was in denial and refused to give me a refund. I went there on April 9, 2024 and ordered the original recipe, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The chicken tasted like it was sitting around for hours, it was tough and horrible. This is surprising because I have gone to that same location on other occasions and those times the chicken was hot and juicy. This was only fit for my trash can and I am disappointed that Popeys would permit one of its locations to serve product that was obviously sitting around much to long and not fit for human consumption. read more

My dad has been a patient on palliative/ hospice care at a local hospital for weeks now. Part of his end of life regimen is that he is not on a restricted diet as of last Wednesday 7/16/25. I inquired is there anything special I can get you from outside of the hospital to eat. He immediately said Popeyes Chicken & Shrimp, he said he was craving this for a few weeks now.... On my way in the following day I went to the Popeyes on Rt. 35 South, Neptune. While there I went inside and started to talk with Mahmoud ( I think owner or manager)? and in our conversation I was telling him about my dad's plight. He immediately stopped what he we was doing and put my dad's entire order together including 2 extra honey mustards which I didn't even ask for. I was so impressed by this random act of kindness. On top of everything, he didn't charge me for anything.....I didn't want them to think I was telling them a crazy story, so I did return into the shop and showed the the photo of my Dad. The food is always amazing and the service is even better. The staff is always amazingly friendly, charismatic, helpful, and funny. The cleanliness of the restaurant is sparkling 98% of the time. The remodeled building just makes it that much better. If you're a regular like I am, they friendly workers are always willing to give you a deal or a slide in an extra tender or two. My two star rating is based solely on the review of the manager "Gary" who was absolutely a real jerk to my kid and wife. There are many ways to say things but this guy needs a lesson in customer service and basic "how to". Nonetheless, both Robin and Regg where ready to provide excellent service at the counter. Worst customer service i've ever encountered in my life. My dad, my friend, and I were stopping to get something to eat after the beach. My dad said that he wanted a 12 piece chicken tender, but for some reason they thought he said 5. My friend and I both heard him say 12. The guy taking our order kept insisting that my dad said 5 when that had no relevancy to our order since my dad said he wanted a 12 piece. The guy then proceeded to ask his coworkers around him if they heard 5 instead of 12. Very rude and disrespectful. Once we got to the window to pay a different worker was there and had an attitude when my dad asked him to repeat the order. My dad payed and then we got our food. We checked the bag to see if anything was missing and of course there was. We ordered and meal and it was supposed to come with 6 biscuits. There weren't any. My dad went back to ask for the biscuits and they asked him for a receipt, but he didn't have one because they never gave us one. Luckily we did get our biscuits. From reading other reviews on this place, it seems like this same guy has been a problem for other people for a few years. My review is more based on the horrible customer service of the "manager" - did not get his name but he is the heavy set gentleman with glasses. He is always in a rush. The second I begin my order, he let's out a huge sigh as if I am a huge nuisance. Then he cuts me off, telling me he has to check if it's in stock. Does this same routine everytime I go through the drive-thru. On one occasion, I had ordered tenders. I get home and its wings and breasts. I go back and tell him about the mistake. He was extremely rude but eventually says he will give me my correct order. So, in the parking lot I check to make sure I have tenders. I see tenders, so I close the box and head home. Once, home I am dividing up the tenders. I realize that he had only given us 10 tenders when I had ordered and paid for 14. So back, we go. I go inside the store this time and tell the guy at the counter that we were only given 10 tenders but ordered 14. He looks at the receipt and says "you right." And asks the manager "yo you only gave them 10? He says "yea I gave them 10." He shows the manager the receipt and the manager says "man give them 4 more" sucks his teeth and walks back towards the drive thru. No apology or anything. I honestly do not know how he has a job, let alone how he became manager. Always in a rush, always seems annoyed, and just not happy to be there. I'll start taking my business elsewhere read more

Worst service ever. Order and was listening over the speaker to three people fighting about another order gave my order the they repeated it. Got up to the window and they were still fighting with each other on how many pieces of chicken go in a box. Waited at the window for about 4 min till they gave me my order it was in the bag but no one cared about the customer. When leaving found I was short a spicy chicken sandwich. Went back to get it but was told I never ordered it. And to come in side and order it again. The reason we went to the drive thru was because of the virus. If you ask me I'd say Popeyes makes the best fried chicken around. I've been to the drive thru at this location a number of time and I food is always hot and crispy. I usually get the dark meat chicken combo meal with their seasoned fries. I've never been disappointed at this Popeyes location the fries are seasoned but not spicy, the biscuits and tasty. In the past I've had the mashed potatoes with the Cajun gravy and that was a little spicy. I've had the chicken fingers and found them to be mostly coating, didn't care for them. Tonight I was a little disappointed because the chicken thigh was a little small and my fries weren't piping hot but those were minor issues - I will definitely be back. Oh, Popeye's. You truly are the breaker of diets, the clogger of arteries, and the bane of vegetarians everywhere. That's okay, though - because you have quite possibly the best fast food chicken anywhere, with your food even rivaling most mom & pop chicken joints, even. I swear, this stuff is like crack. Speaking of crack - be careful at this location. It's not in the best of areas, and on more than one occasion I've been approached by local crack addicts / druggies asking for money. They usually go away if you don't give them anything, but it's still really unsettling and a tad annoying. I've even seen a few hypodermic syringes laying in the parking lot, too - a real classy part of town. Safe enough during the day, I guess. Not much that can be said - it's a restaurant akin to KFC or McDonalds. You go in, you order, you sit, and you feel sorry for yourself as you bury your face in 4,000 calories of fried chicken and butter soaked biscuts. Those 4,000 calories will be some of the best calories, though. The biscuits are always perfect, coated with butter and surprisingly moist. I don't know how they make their chicken, but their spicy tenders are always soft and juicy on the inside, crispy as hell on the outside, and have a nice layer of seasoning separating the two parts. Dip that stuff into their spicy mustard sauce, and you'll never go to KFC ever again. read more

I am a Popeyes fanatic. I go there at least once a week. This location however is one of the lesser quality ones. It is an old popeyes which has been around forever. It is also in a rough town/neighborhood. The staff there were friendly, but kind of rough so to speak. Very nice though. I guess I've just been living under a rock, but I've never had Popeyes. I feel like I've been missing out for sure! It's fast food, understand that, but it's GOOD fast food! The second I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a genuine "How's your day?" They kept smiling and made eye contact through out our interaction. I'm sure the job is not glamorous and the pay isn't stellar, but the employees I talked to made me feel valued and welcomed. Only Chick-fil-a does this better in the fast food world. Maybe it's a chicken thing. Already in a good mood I got a 4 piece dinner for $10. That's a wing, thigh, breast, and leg along with a side and biscuit. The chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy with a nice spicy flavored breading. The biscuit was thick and dense and very flavorful. Definitely makes the meal. Long drive through line (not even that many actual cars though....), dirty parking lot, under staffed, chicken sandwich thinnest ever, fries were barely warm (not hot). I felt bad for the order taker/window worker and gave a big tip as I don't blame him for these issues / plus he was super nice taking the order and providing the food. It was a ton of pressure/stress that is uncalled for with stacked orders out of place and people pulling over in their cars to wait for food so others can finish........what a management mess! read more
