Even with a few unexpected mishaps due to some previous jury rigging that my husband did, they were able to perform the fix. Now I have a working, quieter garage door. 5 stars for excellent communication, fixing the issue quickly, and educating me a bit on garage door opener care. I don't know the going rate for fixing garage door openers, but his price seemed pretty reasonable too.

***STAY AWAY*** I…read moregot scammed by these guys so that you don't have to. Garage door was stuck open. AAA came out and employed extremely deceitful, predatory sales tactics to rip me off. After getting an initial quote to replace one door opener of $1850, I googled the price and found the average to be $5-900. I was told that the specialty nature of my garage doors and the age of them required advanced work, and that any of the other companies would quote me the same. I was also told that they have a special 5 year warranty that no one else includes that doubles the value of their service. Under false pretenses, I allowed the technician to start working. In less than 45 minutes he had completed the installation of the new opener. He then told me he could cut me a bulk deal to do my other two openers and total out to $4000. I begrudgingly agreed in an effort to lower my cost basis and update my other units to match, but also started researching more about the process while he drove to get the other motors. In all it took him 3.5 hours to install all 3 of these "specialty" repair units, including an hour off premises to get the additional supplies. The specialty part? An extension rail to accommodate my doors that are 8ft instead of 7ft. By the time he was finished working I was realizing what was taking place. He demanded on the spot payment via venmo, and said he could only provide the invoice from the office and it would be sent separately. As I was home alone with my 3 young children, I reluctantly paid him to get him off of my property. As I attempted to contact management to resolve, I realized that the company is intentionally deceptive. Every phone number is google voice, and every address is a mailing address. They advertise a 5 year warranty and 12+ years in business, while the license affiliated with them is less than 2 years old. Upon much insistence they provided me an itemized invoice to justify their pricing, which you can see in the attached image. This was NOT provided at the time of service, only over 24 hours later. They charged me $525 per motor unit, which retails for $250 at home depot. They charged me $102 for a keypad that retails for $49. They charged me $120 for remotes that were included in the boxes with those motors. They charged me $365 an hour for labor, PLUS a separate labor line of $120/hr for maintenance and adjustments, totaling $485/hr for installation. They charged me $99 for removal and disposal of old equipment, when half of the original equipment was left in my trash bins without my consent (I did agree to recycle the boxes from the motors, but later found rails and a motor assembly in my trash bin). The worst part? They installed 3 units with 2 pre synched remotes each. The pile of papers and remotes the tech left had only 5 remotes, which I later realized meant that the technician had an operable remote to my garage. This is a major security hazard as these are advertised as having 3-600ft range so now some random technician has an opener to my garage. I had to unsync and re sync everything. After informing them they conveniently claim one was missing from the box and blamed me for "confirming everything" when the work was done, when at the time I had no idea I was supposed to receive 6. By all accounts they ripped me off by well over $1000 on an incredibly simple job. I was susceptible and uninformed, and they shamelessly took advantage of me. I don't care about the money, but out of principle this company should be investigated and prevented from doing this to others. I am in the process of filing complaints through the Attorney General's office and the BBB. I advise anyone to steer clear of these scam artists. Unmarked trucks, only accept venmo to a personal, unverified, non business venmo account, no traceable names or phone numbers. It's all an elaborate mirage covering up theft in broad daylight. They pay google to be at the top of results and have tons of questionable reviews. Hope this helps someone from getting scammed.

TL;DR: The team at this O'Reillys ensured that I was safe, supported, and heard. They went above and beyond in a time of need and were some of the best people I've ever encountered - especially as a solo traveler. Story Time: This year, I took a sabbatical from working as a surgical/transplant ICU nurse in the city of Chicago due to experiencing burnout. Especially through nonstop care of patients through Covid. With some time off, I embarked on a solo camping roadtrip to explore the New England region of the country in hopes to grow and challenge myself as an individual, meet and make connections, explore this beautiful part of the country, and have memories that lasts a lifetime. On August 1st of this year, nearly halfway through my roadtrip, my trusty station wagon with over 200,000 miles, finally decided to give me issues. My starter motor had failed and my battery light turned on in Rockport, about 45 minutes away from Salem. This was the only O'Reilly location that had the parts I needed. So that's where I went! Upon entering the store, I was greeting with warm welcomes from the team. I had explained my situation and kindly asked if it was okay to attempt to fix my car right in front (knowing that some stores will not allow this). But the team understood my situation and allowed me. At the time, fixing my car out front was the only solution I thought of in order to get back home, a mere 1,000 miles away. By the time I tried to fix my car, it was around 2-3PM, 90 degrees, sunny, and without any clouds in sight. Now you could probably see that I was drenched in sweat, working in a steaming hot engine bay, and fatigued. Which was all true. Without asking for more than the approval from the team, one by one, different members came out through their door, offering me an ice cold bottle of water, giving words of encouragement, or simply making sure that I was still okay. And that's what made all the difference to me, a stranger attempting to traverse a completely unknown part of the country. Without Victor, Adam, Edward, Derek, John, Thomas, Jennifer, and the rest of the O'Reilly's team at 142 Canal St., in Salem, MA., I wouldn't have had the perseverance, willpower, and support that I needed to get my car back on the road. So here's my utmost and warmest thank you. Thank you for turning one of the worst experiences I've had on this roadtrip to easily one of the best ones. You ever have a basement window just....sporadically shatter for no apparent reason? Well,…read moreevidently this is just a thing that randomly occurs in this part of town. The last time I had glass shatter spontaneously was back in '24 when our winter storm door screen was completely pulverized by the summer heat, it seems (Pro-life tip: swap out your storm door screens in the summer with mesh ones). On the back of that unforeseen devastation, out went my mass inquiries to all the local shops servicing the Nashua area. Out of maybe 5 (?), 3 responded almost instantly. One sent a quote so high, I was half tempted to reply and ask if I could have some of whatever they were smoking. Another replied with what seemed to be a promising rate, but there was one problem. Their communication was severely intermittent to the point where they inexplicably ghosted me faster than a recruiter responding to a job applicant. Ultimately, I settled on Good Window Works. They offered a fair quote, were easy to get ahold of, and even provided a COI statement as per the request of our housing board. For those unaware, a COI is a Certificate of Insurance. Basically, it's assurance to the board that the contractor in question is insured to complete the job without creating a liability if they, say....jam their thumb beneath a tack hammer or something. With those formalities out of the way, the job was simple enough: Replace the half of the basement window that abruptly disintegrated. All in all, the job took roughly 2 hours. In the end, the window he installed was so transparent, it looked like there was no pane at all in the frame. But no--the glass was just THAT pristine! I don't say this often, but....experiences like these are what I love most about being a Yelp writer. So rarely do I get to be in the position to not only promote another hard working local business, but also pose as the microcosmic advertising vehicle that just might serve as the prompt some very fortunate individual needs to go, "Yeah, I'm hiring this place to work on my house". If you're wondering whether you should hire these guys for your next installation or repair job, the answer is likely yes. Good Window Works is worth 5 window panes clearer than thin air out of 5.

So get estimate if you want, but as we were talking only thing he can't get is huge discounts like bigger corporation do, but after seeing what he charges and others still better deal because if new door is needed he tries to lower cost of service call or gives credit to referrals. So because of other neighbors he didn't charge me for service call. I'm so happy with door now, opening and closing faster,smoothly, omg much more quiet. So if you want to throw money away and support corporate companies taking advantage and charging double what they pay for doors and surcharge ect..save yourself a headache and call this small business owner and support honest,hard working American knowing he's not trying to go out of business. You won't pay for anything you Don't need. Even takes time to show you why, or what your parts look like compared to new part, explains how and why they wear out. So excited. ..everyone else made me think it was going to cost me $2000 - $2500 when after discount barely cost me $120. And other saved at least $1000. That's huge difference. Give him a shout I'm sure you'll be just as excited. Thanks Bill for your great work and kindness a long with all your years of experience we had talked about. Good luck with business.
