They make themselves out to be so honest, but at the end of the day are liars and cheats. I go to Cabo regularly, and this is hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a car rental. Fox, Cactus, and Alamo have all been great. Avoid BBB at all costs.
TLDR: They did not give me the car that was promised. They then lied to me saying the only car available that met my requirement of separately folding seats in the back was a 20-year old SUV, and they charged me double, well over $100 / day to rent it. I later confirm that there were in fact many other cars available. The manager, Ruben, was possibly the rudest @$$hole of a service person I've ever interacted with. The car they gave me had fleas in it, and my family and I spent a good portion of our vacation itchy as hell, pulling our hair out trying to figure out where the bites were coming from until we discovered they were in the vehicle.
Details: I needed a vehicle, where 1 or 2 of the back seats could fall down and expand the trunk, but still be able to seat a person in the back. In my confirmation email, they tell me that I will receive a VW Jetta. Yes, in an earlier email they did say that a VW Jetta, Kia Forte, and other cars were all possibilities, but in the FINAL confirmation email, they wrote that I would be getting a VW Jetta, which I confirmed met my requirements.
When I arrive, they give me a Kia Forte, which does not meet my requirements. At this point, they force me to rent a nearly 20-year old 2005 Toyota 4Runner for double the price, claiming that no other vehicles were available. Just a couple weeks ago, they were trying to upsell me on multiple larger vehicles for just a little more money, but now they have nothing left!? On top of that, when I returned the car, I asked the attendant whether it was a busy week, and he told me not at all they hardly had any business, so I was CLEARLY LIED TO when they said there were no other vehicles available. These cheats just wanted to juice me for as much money as possible.
Equally infuriating at the time was just how incredibly rude the manager was. I seriously have never been so upset with a service person. When I calmly tried to explain how it was confusing that the final email clearly stated that I would receive a VW Jetta, he responded, "It's confusing for you. It's not confusing for anyone else."
At this point, I was with my 2-year old baby after a long and tiring flight, we had reservations to make, and we were not in the mood to deal with having to go to another rental agency. On top of that, they already ran my card, which, in hindsight, I probably could have gotten charged back with the credit card company. I ended up taking the old, literally creaking, SUV.
Now here is where things got EVEN WORSE. After dinner, I start getting incredibly itchy bites all over my ankles and feet. The next day, I get even more of them and so does my wife. In total, we end up with about 20 bites each. We are at our wits end trying to figure out where they are coming from. The third day, I take the vehicle out alone, and I get more bites ONLY AFTER driving, and my wife, who did not come with me, did not get any additional ones. It's at this point, I suspect they came from the vehicle. Low and behold, a search reveals evidence of flea droppings.
