It may not be made in-house, but Sweet Baby Ray's is tasty!

Fantastic BBQ! Don't let the exterior fool you. And don't let the interior fool you either. It may not look like much, but the food is super good. I stopped in for some BBQ during a road trip, and clearly this is a place that many truckers stop at as well. The service was curt but efficient, polite, and on point. The place doesn't look like much. But the food arrives promptly and it is really, really tasty. If you are passing through the area, do yourself a favor and stop by BBQ 65 for some delicious BBQ. You will not be disappointed!

This is a must-stop every time we head to the Gulf. The food is so flavorful, and good every time we stop. It's no frills and that's perfectly fine by us! Everyone is always very friendly. It's so good that this is the only gas station I will eat in.

Just off the highway, nestled in part of a gas station, is this southern barbeque restaurant. Now, its it in a gas station, but don't let that fool you on the tastiness of the food. One of my favorite dishes was actually the coleslaw. How, one of the better ones I have had. I had the bbq ribs, baked beans and the coleslaw. I got the 6 bone, but could have been fine with the 4. Great little spot to stop on your way down 65.

    $16.99 for a 6 rib plate with 2 sides and a drink.

This place is bomb!! We found this place on our way back to Nashville from Destin. This is located in a gas station. The food was so good ... the service is whatever. You order at the counter and then take it to a table to eat. I got the ribs plate with 2 sides and a drink for $16.99. I only had half of the ribs before we had to leave ... they were really good later that evening. I would definitely stop here on my way to and from Destin!

For several years, I had been given several reasons not to try BBQ 65. Those reasons included it's not good, it's in a gas station, they have packets of BBQ sauce and and it turned out they were all lies except the gas station part. UT is in a gas station but they have a counter and a seating area to eat. I went with the pulled pork plate and this pulled pork was phenomenal! It was really tender and it paired well with the 2 sauces on the table. They have a tangy mild tomato vinegar and equally tangy white sauce. I was skeptical because I had seen a photo of a pork plate with a pack of Sweet Baby Ray's. They do have those packets but the sauces on the table are so much better. I went with mayo slaw and Mac and cheese as my sides. The slaw was really creamy and semi-sweet. The mac and cheese was homemade but on the dry side. Sweet tea was Alabama extra sweet! My pork plate came with a drink for a total of $14. This pulled pork was phenomenal though and I would stop there again in a heartbeat for it. They do have chicken and ribs, no brisket.

I've never been so impressed by gas station BBQ. The ladies that work their are super sweet and helpful. I got the smoked Turkey and white Sauce sandwich. So good! My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and squash casserole. The casserole is some of the best I've ever had and the bbq is good too. For dessert you have to get the banana pudding! It comes in a perfect serving size. Lastly, their sweet tea is the epitome of good southern sweet tea. Grab you a cup to go with your BBQ for sure.

Gas station restaurants usually go extreme in one of two ways... well BBQ 65 is extreme in the delicious way! There's nothing more southern than this place! It's a walk up and order, seat yourself establishment. It was very clean and smelled so yummy! The staff were friendly and took care of us quickly. The fall off the bone ribs were off the chain! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. For $1 they'll pull the chicken for you. I had the red sauce with my chicken and it was great! The tater tot casserole was the best I've ever had! Highly recommend!

Smoked chicken, mac and cheese and potato salad

Easily the best smoked chicken I've ever had. So juicy with a perfect amount of spices, but not overly salty like most places. Mac and cheese was excellent too, thick and creamy with a lot of flavor. Sliced turkey was very good as well but had a slightly harsh smoke flavor. Juicy and good flavor over all though. Would still order it again (may have just been a one-off small flare up on the smoker) Plan on stopping any and every time I pass by as we drive to the beach. Highly recommend.

Solid stop convenient to i65. I was not expecting it to be in a gas station but the atmosphere was great for a short stop off the interstate. The service was great. Expect a line. We had the pork plate, ribs, and chicken plate. The Lima beans and collards were very good, very greasy due to the large amounts of bacon which is true to the southern way of cooking them. The potato salad and slaw were so so. Just not a lot of flavor. The chicken skin was amazing, wished all of the chicken had the flavor but it didn't. Still a solid meal though. The pork was just ok. The ribs were the best meat of meal, but don't come expecting a long smoked flavor. It's well cooked but not a lot of smoke. Yea is solid as well. Overall nice stop, convenient, and nice family running the place.

What a great surprise to find this place right off the side of the interstate! It's literally a gas station with a cute little BBQ shop inside. It was fairly crowded when we got there around lunch time, so obviously the word is out that the food is great! I highly recommend the chicken plate. I usually order pulled pork at BBQ restaurants but I noticed the photos of the chicken platter and thought it looked really good, and it WAS! Some of the best smoked chicken I've ever had. It was a half chicken, and the plate was huge!! Portion sizes are large here. Trust the photos, they look great, it is great! My husband ordered the pulled pork and it was very good also, but the portion size was a lot smaller than the chicken.

We were a bit disappointed in now liquor, as they are still waiting on their license. I think a nice rum punch would have really hit the spot! But we did order the Jamaican jerk wings to start and they were really good! A bit much on the presentation, but I never knock points for trying! The jerk was more of better paste, which we both loved! Our server was very attentive and kept me it glasses full. Our entree of curry shrimp over white rice and Jamaican jerk chicken with rice and peas and loaded baked potato came out pretty quickly and were fresh and delicious! I also had the salad bar, which was a NICE leftover from the Ruby Tuesday days of this building! Great options, and nice, fresh veggies. No brown lettuce! (My mama would be happy!). Only thing to improve would be homemade dressings, as southerners are pretty appreciative of that! Overall, the food was great! Will definitely return! The only suggestions would be to make the menu smaller, and serve the food in fewer dishes with fewer garnishes. The food speaks for itself and really doesn't need help in that way! I also was a bit put off by the Ruby Tuesday furnishings. Change it up, and add a cool Jamaican playlist! I want to be transported to the Caribbean! Give it a try and let us know what you think!
