Our 7 hour excursion was truly amazing, especially once the sun came out. Doug takes the time to stop where the whales are and give you information about them, from the different types to the history of the resident orcas to the transient orcas. We travelled up and down the channel to see bears, plus he air drops the photos from the very same day to tour phone, because trust me his are better. I think what really stood out for me was the quality of the fellow passengers. Everyone is sharing in the excitement, passing around binoculars, and swapping spots to share the view. It's rare to see this type of camaraderie with strangers and I appreciated that, especially as you neared a bear that is happily munching while lazing. Truly worth it, so glad I spent the time and money on this.

I can't remember the details, but it's fascinating. You should really go and spend some time in there. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have some chairs in there that you can sit at and enjoy the view. My honey needed some down time so he sat down for awhile while I looked around Cow Bay. They have brochures in there about what to do in Prince Rupert. About the bear sanctuary. I heard it's a worthwhile and amazing adventure. It was the highlight of many people's cruise.

Prince Rupert when the weather is nice has a lot to offer in outdoor activities from the waterfront to the local parks. This town is full of beautiful landscape and very walkable roads and trails. There is also very good public transportation for getting around town.

Chrissy the owner, has just renovated a large section and it is super bright, tasteful and incredible value for your money. Honestly whoever goes to Prince Rupert and wants incredible value and be around youthful people of all ages this is the place. it is not a party house, return drunk from the bar sleazy pad. We meet sports teams, families visiting the area and naturally tourists. I am just blown away with this place and the offerings, can you tell?

The Manager at the ferry terminal recommended a couple hostels, and mentioned that the Pioneer Inn had been recently renovated. After a drive-by of the hostel, it was clear this would be the place to spend the night. The hostel has a clean, welcoming look from the outside, especially when contrasted with the gloomy, rainy, and cold September weather. Things got better once inside; there was a comfortable living room, and most importantly for me, a professional kitchen available to guests. I checked in and opted for the shared dormitory option on the top (3rd) floor. The rate was fair (~$30 all inclusive), and the room was cozy and well appointed. There was no bathroom in the room, but there was a recently renovated one a few doors down on the same floor. The hostel is located off of the main street in Prince Rupert, and is very close to groceries and restaurants (Safeway and Cow Bay). Right behing the building there is a community garden worth looking at, where one could easily read or relax (weather permitting). The people working there were mostly helpful, some very nice, and others business-only. Overall, the Pioneer Backpackers Inn is a great find, and worth staying at if one visits Prince Rupert.

(one time I ran out of toilet paper and they didn't change it) Note that floors 5 and 6 have been renovated. Anything below 5 really need some love.The bathrooms in rooms below floor 5 are outdated and the floor and walls are laminate with a bit of mould. Any time you are staying on the floors 5 and 6, it is super nice. Tiled bathtub, granite tables and bathroom counter and etc. Also only floors 5 and 6 have microwaves. If you need to use the microwaves on the other floors, you would need to go downstairs. Too bad no poke gym here. I highly recommend staying here. My favorite is getting the chance daily coupon.

The front desk and maids were the same. LOVE THE BED!!! Slept so well. Free Wifi, large flat screen tv, nice size room, ac and heating, and parking in the back. The only disappointment was no guest laundry facility, resulting in me walking in the rain across the street to get my laundry cleaned. This hotel would be 5 stars if guest laundry was provided. conveniently across the street is Tim Horton's, Shoppers Mart, Dollarama, Good location.HIghly recommend, but beware of the large tour groups from the BC Ferry. We would wait to come dow for breakfast after the tour group leave.

Nice little cabins in a beautiful location. Kitchens are fully stocked with plates, equipment and…read moreglassware. Large refrigerator. Several beds and a washer and dryer. Sitting on the aged house decks and soaking up the view is the attraction here. But there are some caveats. The worst is the train. Diesel trains come through at all different hours of the day and night. The tracks are so close to the cabins that it's a real atmosphere spoiler. They make talking difficult and shake the rooms. Next is the Wi-Fi, it is pretty bad. It's got a short reach so you can disconnect in the rooms easily. There is no cell service. For some that's an advantage, for others it's not. We were also asked to put our phones on airplane mode if we didn't need to access the Wi-Fi because it uses up their satellite data. Not really my problem. And lastly, the taps are connected to a creek and the water is discoloured. They provide bottled water, however. If these points don't bother you, you should be pretty happy. It's a unique location.
